My goal for January is take my dog for a walk EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sometimes don't bother when I have been at work as my Dad takes him for me twice during those days!

He's a hyper Jack Russell so we shall both benefit from that daily walk...

No excuses... he will go out every day with me! Even if it's just 15 minutes around the block!

Hi All,

I only made it half way to my December goal because of bad health and of course the busy time of year that December is. But I know I will make it to my goal in January. So here I am officially setting that goal for 1500 minutes :D

See you all in January :)

Hugs,

Ammi :newyear:

Well, I doubt I'll meet my 500 minute goal for December, so I'll keep it at 500 for January.

CLCSC145 12-29-2006 09:59 PM

I'd like to join you all if I may! Exercise is my biggest stumbling block, but I find without it, all the great eating in the world isn't going to get me where I want to go. I think I'll start with 600 minutes and work my way up from there...

KatieBug22 12-30-2006 12:58 AM

I would like to join as well :) Whoopeeee! My first exercise month! I will set my goal at a reasonable 400 minutes for the month. After that I will see where I go for February!

Good luck, all :)

Katie

Okay, I feel like such a whimp for having such a low goal but, I have to make sure my PT says it is okay. I had a goal of 100 last month which I passed so, I am going to up it to 300 minutes for January.

LookingForHope16 12-31-2006 03:26 AM

I have set the November Goal and failed horribly!!

It's alright. This is my fresh start in a new year! By the end of 2007 the hott chicks of 3FC will see me at least 50 pounds lighter!!

I am very excited!!

So I am here by setting my minutes at 620. That gives me 30 minutes a day!

Hey -- I had a question, would walking around the campus at my college count for minutes??

See you girls in January!!

princesspuffypants 12-31-2006 08:31 AM

i will jump in with 500 mins. hopefully the weather will stay nice so when i go back to school at the end of January i can start riding my bike again. i really enjoyed that.

Well, I haven't been meeting my exercise goals, which has me really frustrated. I can't decide if I should lower my goal, or keep it as is, with the hope I will make it this month.

I think I'm going to lower it a bit to 900, instead of 950.

Lots of people thinking hard about their goals. My personal take on it is that it is hard to jump start into a routine where you are exercising every single day for a whole month, especially more than 30 min. I don't want anyone to feel bad for starting low. We are all in different places and should only be comparing to ourselves.

Think about how you can realistically get in exercise and what your constraints are in terms of ability, time, etc. And don't worry about setting low. You can always build later!

Erika -- Personally, I don't count all the walking I do. I have a great pedometer that tracks "aerobic" minutes. In order for them to count you have to basically be on the move 10 minutes straight. It allows for a very short break in three. So, what I tend to do is not count minutes unless they are "aerobic". So, when I take my dogs for a walk, they tend to stop while they "do their business". I keep walking or jogging in place while they do this so I don't stop my walking and get my min 10 minutes in. The pedometer is fine with me breaking for a few seconds to pick up the poop however!

For the new year, I am not going to count walking unless it's at least 15 minutes... I'm fit enough now that I can push myself and my dogs a little more.

Anyway, all this to say that you should decide for yourself what counts as exercise for you. I tend to count "intentional" exercise and that is at least at a moderate level. I am trying to build habits for intentional exercise.

I hope that helps, but this is a great place for us all to talk about what we count as exercise!

brunissen 12-31-2006 09:35 PM

Count me in for 930 minutes in January... :)

LookingForHope16 01-01-2007 03:49 AM

Well the days that we went to tour the campus and walk from class to class to get the feel it was like a 10 minute walk from some classes. I guess I'll have to use my best judgement. Thanks girls! I'm ready!!

Xena2005 01-01-2007 12:42 PM

Starting off the new month and new year with a bang, I did 30 minutes WATP's and 30 minutes of weight training. Looks like I am the first (but if I'm wrong, please correct me), so that makes:

GROUP TOTAL = 60

Lilion 01-01-2007 12:58 PM

Looks like Erika had 10, making the group total 70. So add in my 20 minutes on the eliptical and we're at 90 minutes so far! :D

My total = 20 minutes

Group total = 90 minutes
