Bikini Ready 2012 Challenge!

:carrot::cb:WELCOME TO THE BIKINI READY CHALLENGE OF 2012!:cb::carrot:

Hello! I did a Year End Goal challenge last year and I wanted to take the same format and make it BETTER for a Bikini Ready Challenge! "But wait, I don't think I'll be ready for a bikini this year!" I hear some of you cry, well don't you worry you sexy muffin panda, this challenge is all about losing weight for the summer months so there's a spring in your step and you feel more confident with your body than ever before - bikini ready or not!
"But wait, the challenge appears to already have started! I really want to join!" No problemo, my friend! The beauty of the spreadsheet format is that you can join in any time.
"I know all my weights from the previous weeks, is it ok to enter them as a new member?" Of course it is! There are weekly charts for everyone's weigh in, it would be better if you had your weight from the week before you start so you have a chance of entering the challenge chart!
Make sure you read all the rules and information and you're all set!

The rules are simples!
  1. Go to spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...VN2dKT1E#gid=0 (For older participants, this URL is new which is why the original spreadsheet doesn't work. Please update bookmarks!)
  2. Enter your username, start weight, then scroll over to the right and enter your goal weight. Please remember when entering your starting weight it's the weight that you're at starting THIS challenge - not you're overall starting weight. Also, please do NOT put __ lbs as your starting weight, it messes up with the spreadsheet formulas!
  3. As this challenge is already a-go, please can all newcomers enter their starting weight and current weekly weight as the same thing. Since this challenge has a lot of people involved I can't remember who is new and who isn't, so if I see blank spaces I will automatically move you to the stand by lists.
  4. Each week enter your weight between Monday and Sunday, whichever day you prefer to weigh in.
  5. Finally, LEAVE THE LAST 3 COLUMNS ON THE RIGHT ALOONNNEEE. DON'T TOUCH THEM! AH AH! I SAID NO TOUCHING. YES, BACK AWAY. THANK YOU, PLEASE. You may thinking entering your own data manually is helping - it's not. I am your monkey slave for this challenge so let me take care of everything.

The random bits of info you also need to remember!
  • Please be careful when using the spreadsheet, I've had to rearrange columns and re-enter data because of carelessness. I'm doing my best to make sure the spreadsheet is neat and tidy!
  • If you don’t weigh in for more than 2 weeks, I will move you to the stand by sheet. Your information is still there, but it just cleans up the main spreadsheet so the people who are actively participating are only shown. If you jump back in PLEASE DO! Just post in the thread that you want to hop back in and I’ll move you back onto the main spread sheet.
  • I also created a group on Fitocracy for any users who want to be accountable for exercise during the challenge. The group is here: http://www.fitocracy.com/group/4702/ - if you want to join the site then I have 9 invites going!

:carrot::cb:AND FINALLY, LET'S NOT FORGET THE CHALLENGE SIDE TO THIS AWESOMENESS!:cb::carrot:

This year I really want to emphasise that this is a challenge as well as a great way to stay accountable. "What do I have to do?" Nothing! Just keep entering your weights every week and I will sort out the rest. But basically I'm going to be monitoring your progress each week to find out who are our biggest losers for the week and giving the top 20 people points based on where they rank. So for example if you're the number one for the week you get 20 points and if you're number 20 you get 1 point.
"How are the ranks decided?" By your percentage of weight loss, which basically means how much of YOU you have lost, not how many pounds you have lost. This is fair because people who are at a higher weight tend to lose more pounds than those who are close to their goals. It's also how they decide who's the winner on The Biggest Loser :D

Below you will see 2 shiny charts, one is the overall ranking of who has lost the highest percentage of weight loss, and the other is a chart based on who is kissing a$$ each week and getting all the points - so basically the challenge chart!

Overall Chart:

Challenge Chart:

The challenge started the first week in January and will go for 25 weeks, which takes us to June. Remember the thread is always there to talk and discuss how you’re doing, so please pop by and say hello every so often =).

Glad to see people signing up! Don't worry, it's not strictly for people who are going to fit in bikinis it's just a typical summer weight loss icon!

bama girl 12-19-2011 11:54 AM

I want in!

I'm only about 12 lb from my goal weight, but I feel like this should help me stay on track for the first little bit of maintaining once I get there. :)

Razorbackbritt 12-19-2011 11:58 AM

I'm in! I want to lose 30 more pounds....and my original goal was to wear a 2 piece (not sure about bikini!) at my 25th birthday party at my moms. Parties at her house are always pool parties.

I sort it alphabetically, so when I visit it again I give it a re-arrange!

aleks - I combine healthy eating with lots of exercise. I exercise using the Insanity workout 6 times a week, eat 2200 calories of good healthy food and drink lots of water. Visit here: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/myplate/index.aspx to get a personalised food plan - it really helps to inform you on what exactly you should be eating in a day to maintain a healthy balanced diet.

Riestrella 12-20-2011 07:23 AM

Hey guys I want you all to be careful when you're handling the spreadsheet, for some reason someone had deleted some of the titles of the columns and some of the dates were moved out of place. Don't know how it happened, but remember everything you do is saved!

Symmetry 12-20-2011 08:13 AM

Riestrella: Oh alright, thank you!

~2 weeks until it starts, can't wait :cheer2:

Daki 12-20-2011 11:05 AM

Does it matter if I join and need to maintain from mid-January to mid-February? I need to get alterations done to a bridesmaid dress in Jan and will have to hang at that weight until the wedding in February lol.

One of my goals was to be bikini ready at some point in the summer so this challenge (completely with spreadsheet!) is exciting and just what I want. I haven't been able to wear one since I was under 10 and it's a goal I'm really looking forward to =)

Rated 12-20-2011 03:12 PM

aleksandra - I plan on couting calories (approx 1300-1400 a day) and exercising to meet my goal. I think it is really important to have a good food plan because there is no way to exercise off a bad diet (there just isn't enough time to work out that much). I plan on going to spin class 3-4 times a week and then go swimming 3 times a week on my own. I might also throw some running into my exercising since I am toying with the idea of someday completing a triathlon.

While this is my plan for January over the holidays I am trying to enjoy myself while maintaining my weight. I am passing over food that I can have all the time and eating less of the food that is only available at Christmas time. How is everyone else coping with the holidays?

jujubunny 12-20-2011 03:39 PM

I'm Not going to tell myself I can't have bad food during the holidays. Depriving tends to make it worse. Instead I'm going to space out the time in between eating. Instead of feasting all day, Have small amounts of goodies every once and awhile not in one serving.

Expunge 12-20-2011 04:05 PM

I'm in! I really need something to kick my *** into gear. Now I just have to remember the weigh-ins!

Symmetry 12-20-2011 04:09 PM

Oh, also, is the starting weight = when you sign up, or first weigh in? (January 2nd)

I am in!! Ryler, I am just curious how you got that avatar picture?!?!

Shellbellster 12-20-2011 10:41 PM

I was waiting for another one of these challenges to start!

cmwelp 12-21-2011 12:37 AM

So excited for this!! Hoping to be at goal weight by the end of this challenge=totally bikini ready :-) Good luck everyone!!

Riestrella 12-21-2011 05:50 AM

Dakie - Of course! You can lose the weight however way you want!

Rated - A bit of friendly advice, if you're exercising loads and you're not losing weight then try and increase the amount of calories you have. The body needs more food to burn when we're exercising and if you don't have enough it can store it away.
As for the holidays, I'm trying my best to exercise the same and to not over indulge on all the treats that my house contains. The rest of the year we don't have any, but Christmas time we get everything I LOVE. So I try and not gorge on snacks. It's tricky!

Symmetry - It should be before January 2nd, so personally I'm going to change my starting weight on January 1st.

sgregg 12-21-2011 08:58 AM

I'm in! I fell off the year-end goal challenge. It's time for a do-over! :)

Razorbackbritt 12-21-2011 09:05 AM

On my way! I started my weight loss journey back last week and I lost a pound! Woohoo! SO excited to step on the scale and have it move DOWN!

Rated 12-21-2011 03:21 PM

Riestrella - I totally agree. Before I was eating around 1200 and exercising a lot. I was really frusterated when I wasn't losing weight. So 1300-1400 is me bumping it up a bit and then I will adjust from there. It is so hard to figure out the balance sometimes.

petitefleur 12-22-2011 12:05 PM

I'm in. Now, I need to find a motivation bikini. :D

RaisingThemLeft 12-22-2011 12:25 PM

oops, wrong forum. Sorry!

baker23 12-22-2011 04:13 PM

I'm definitely in :) Need to get rid of this pooch...aka...the stomache -.-....I want to rock a bikini for the first time this summer :)
