Hi Riestrella, I'm back! Ready for another challenge and this time I won't quit :( No more excuses!
Riestrella, thank you for taking on the job of running another challenge  |
If anyone has an fitocracy invites left can you please send me one...thank you :)
Ristrella I am only able to access part of the spreadsheet for some reason and was not able to enter a goal weight as that column was not showing up for me so could you please enter a goal for me of 143lbs. Thank you in advance :) |
Hey everyone, figured I would post the results again for those who haven't seen them, so here are week 1 results!
By the end of the week there were 102 people listed on the spreadsheet. I have had to move 12 people to the stand by list. There are now 90 people remaining in the challenge! Overall Chart: http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q...la/weekone.jpg Challenge Chart: http://i349.photobucket.com/albums/q...konepoints.jpg Addicted - Sorry that you were sick, a hollow victory! I hope you feel better and can lost that much for reals! petite - Welcome! I mentioned on Fitocracy, but be sure to join the group challenge! It will be good to get some friendly competition going! FeelinIt - I'm glad you like the challenge! Congrats on the 3 lbs gone forever! noelle - It sounds like your weight gain was the meal you had - you just don't know how much cr@p is in the things you eat when you're out! CaliforniaDreamer - Wow, congrats on the unexpected loss! I've only ever lost 3 lbs in a week once so I know how awesome it feels! darlingbrit - That's the spirit, you can do it! Paja - I know how you feel, I'm hoping for a good loss this week! Excited! But trying not to get my hopes up too much just in case! princessgina - I feel like I'm finally getting rid of mine now, I had holiday bloat and then period bloat following! sekc - Like Lambiechop said, use your weight from the week you start not your overall weight. All is explained in the first post of the thread :) RachelAnne - Don't worry! Are you about to go on your period? Are you drinking enough water? There are a lot of things that may be causing your gain, but be positive and try to get to the root of the problem! jay - You know I thought it was a bit of a high increase, but I didn't want to ask in case it was true and I hurt your feelings!! Sabletora - Welcome back! That's right, no more excuses! I added your goal weight, not sure why it wasn't working - the scroll bar sometimes is a bit finicky. PM me your email address and I'll invite you to Fitocracy! |
i really screwed up from friday to yesterday. I was on vacation in texas and i was counting calories and then somewhere along the way I was counting but going way over. I think the beer put me over the top. :( i feel horrible. From new years i was up from 207-210 now im at 213!!!!:(
|
Hi all :D
Jessica: Beer has that effect on me too :( I'm back down to my sunday weigh in weight. I always go up on a monday because I weight at like 7am compared to the weekend where I weigh in much later, plus I eat slightly more and have a drink or 2 so i'm glad to be back down. |
I've been back in the habit of drinking lots of water and HOORAY I lost 2.2 lbs this week! I'm so happy and I'm SO close to healthy now! I can't wait! :)
|
I lost 2 pounds this past week! Excited to see what I can do this week! I have picked up a couple more classes at the gym (on top of the 6 Zumba classes I teach) so I am challenging my body more...and its obviously paying off!
|
Great job so far everyone! I put my name down last week but just now decided to jump in the discussion!
My name is Ana, I'll turn 22 this month and I have a two year old son. Throughout 2010 I struggled to lose the fifty pounds of baby weight I had put on, but didn't lose a single ounce. In the first half of 2011 I got down to business and went from 195 to 165. Around July I kind of took a break from caring about my weight or what I ate, and have put on ten pounds since then. I'm back now though! And this challenge is exactly what I need to finally reach my pre-pregnancy weight. :) |
Argh, I was back at 187 this morning. :/ But I did go for a quick 2 mile run today. It's the start of my half-marathon training. I took some time off from running after graduation/Christmas/breaking up/feeling sorry for myself. So it was nice to get back out there. And the weather here is really cooperating!
|
I was naughty and ordered takeaway pizza with a friend. This time instead of gobbling it all I ate half, and tomorrow I'm even considering throwing the other half away. It's a waste of food and money - but that's the price I have to pay (literally) for choosing to eat bad food. I exercised a LOT today, I did 2 Insanity workouts and I've been trying to drink water loads so I'm praying my daily weigh in tomorrow isn't affected. Fingers crossed!
But some pretty exciting news - I CAN SEE MY OBLIQUES/MY DANGEROUS V COMING THROUGH! At first I thought they were just underwear marks, but then I looked closely and sure enough I have two dents in my sides! It's a shame my belly wont follow suit, I still have a nice pooch that isn't disappearing! I'm so happy, and even though it's only a slight change it's really nice to see something change aesthetically since sometimes I feel like it can be all about numbers! jessica - Don't fret! You know what happened and now you know what you need to avoid. While on vacation we can ALL slip up. So just pick yourself back up and stay on plan. Drink lots of water and stay positive. There's no point in dwelling over mistakes, learn from them instead! Reba - Water is the miracle liquid! Congrats! Razor - Wow, you teach Zumba? You must be a machine! Well done on the 2 lbs lost! Ana - Welcome to the discussion! With the right dedication and plan you will surely reach your goal. MusicalA - I miss running sometimes, I love Insanity but I love going outside! The weather here is not as good as it is for you! I started Half Marathon training and then postponed it because of the weather, I think I'll jump into the 10k training again so I can get used to running again. |
I weighed in early this week as I'll be traveling and will not have access to my dear old scales. Wishing everyone much success this week!
|
im in
|
Well, I'm down from last week, so that's a plus, but still not where I want to be. I plan on kicking it into high gear this week and getting myself on track.

Yay, I'm in! Better late than never. I seriously doubt I'll be in a bikini, but I want to wear a cute bathing suit this year, goshdarnit!
|
Ugh. I am laying off soda for the rest of this week. I was SO bloated yesterday (probably due to PMS) and I was miserable. So it's only water for me for the rest of the week. I've got fun weekend plans and feeling gross will put a damper on them.
Last night I wanted to make a big healthy dinner (big so I'd have leftovers for lunch today and dinner tonight). So I put carrots, celery, potatoes, an onion, can of Rotel tomatoes, and chicken broth into a baking dish, baked it all for 2 hours, and it's pretty yummy! I used a lot more celery and carrots than potatoes because I didn't want to make it too starch heavy. I'm going to need to work some protein into my food today too, but eating all the veggies makes me feel good! riestrella great job on the obliques! :yay: that's awesome! |

Going to lunch with my sister and mother today. I tried getting out of it but then my sister flipped out and said she missed me. That's our thing, going to lunch every now and then together, and I haven't wanted to because I tend to over eat and it is so hard to count calories. But I figured since family is important that I would go. Hopefully it won't throw me off track, I feel like I have been doing really well! I did burn an extra 500 calories at the gym this morning so maybe if I am led astray it will compensate.... And I will work extra hard tomorrow too...

Has anyone noticed anything different when it comes to men since losing weight?
I'm used to being the invisible fat girl, and now everytime I go out I feel like Men are noticing me. I have gone out for the past two weekends in a row and I have gotten hit on each time. I've lost 80 lbs and I don't know how to deal with becoming this (dare I say) sexy woman. Has anyone else experienced this? and have any of you gotten past it? |
Darlingbrit: I haven't dated for almost 3 years and it is completely because of my insecurities about my weight. It drives me nuts sometime because I want to be seen as an independent woman who doesn't let my weight get in the way of her, but it totally does. I guess I have gone on a few dates, but in the end I think I have created this "don't come near me, I am not interested, don't touch me persona" to compensate for the fact that I am uncomfortable with my body. I am hoping to change that and lose that persona I have created for myself.
|
I just joined, and I wish I had found this sooner!! This was such a fantastic idea, and I love the spreadsheet!! Thank you for thinking of this :D I'm looking forward to pushing onward with all of you....and now I'm going to go look at bikinis!!!
|
Has anyone else experienced this? and have any of you gotten past it?
I started getting more attention from men when I hit, maybe 230???...And i'm convinced it was a combination of slimming down, and the amazing confidence boost that comes with it xD...I don't think theres anything to really get past. Take it as a compliment, even if you arn't interested. Enjoy the attention. :) I started weight training this week. I've already seen a 1 pound increase on the scale, and i'm pretty sure i'm going to be holding steady the next few weeks....but hopefully if i'm still on plan it'll go down after that...I should have done this earlier xDDDD crap... |
I think I started getting more attention too around 170 lbs, mainly from men at work who would compliment a lot. I'm oblivious to people who pass me in the street looking at me, but I do notice men in cars turning their heads to take a look at the awesomeness ;).
Embrace it! |
Super exciting challenge! Plus its a nice accountability to be weighing in every week. Since today is wednesday, that will be my weigh in day. Good luck all!
P.S. I love that this is a long challenge. Really gives everyone the opportunity to test themselves and really stick with something and account it as well for a good long time. |
Riestrella, I totally hear you about throwing away the rest of the pizza. I'm a big proponent of not wasting anything, especially in the kitchen, but when it comes to junk food/restaurant food I have to remind myself that my health and my goals are worth more to me than the money and the wasted food. Sometimes it's better for me to just satisfy a craving with half or less of something and then throw the rest away so I'm not tempted.
|
I'm so lucky, if I ever go out, i can always bring a box home without feeling guilty. I rarely eat left overs, but i have to human garbage disposals living with me (my brother and husband). They will gladly finish anything i wont lol.
And on another note 129.8 today!! yaaay! On a very sad not, that is in no way related... MY Grandpa, who is my hero, passed away today =( I was kind of hoping he would live forever. |
Since I've always been heavy, I was always more the 'fat friend' than the one someone was attracted to (except for the few who like bigger women, yikes.) But I do notice that men are far more attentive and look at me more...sooo strange. I am with Riestrella, though....enjoy it!!!!
And aware210: I am so very, very sorry to hear about your grandfather. My best to you and your family. |
I'm so sorry, aware. My condolences to your family...
And I agree with what everyone has said! The past few weekends I've had men staring at me/talking to me/dancing with me left and right. I am most certainly enjoying it but it's strange at the same time LOL. |
I ate pizza and ice cream for lunch today. :( There's no healthy food in my parent's house; I need to go shopping! I did run my intervals today (that I was supposed to do yesterday...) so I also have a 2.5 mile run to do tonight. Not too bad, but it sucks to do anything the same day as my intervals.

I'd like to join - I put myself in at the bottom, rather than alphabetically, (because I didn't want to mess with your color coding.) I hope that was the right thing to do!
|
aware210- I'm so sorry about your grandfather. :(
MusicalAstronaut- bahahaha that lunch sounds amazing. xD I opted for subway today. Was debating between that and a burger since I only eat fast food once a week...I had just got finished at the gym so subway won :( Lezza155- welcome :) |
Paja - I'm glad I'm not the only one! But we're better off for throwing it away. I gained 0.2 lbs from eating half a pizza then when I threw it out and ate healthy I ended up losing 0.8 lbs! Amazing how much junk food can affect your weight.
aware - I'm sorry for your loss, it's easy to forget that life isn't forever, but it doesn't make it any less special. Treasure all the memories and the influences he had on your life. Leeza - That's fine, I'll sort the colour pattern out soon enough! |
I love a challenge! But I fear I set my goal to high, anyone else think going from 229 to 150 by the end of June is too ambitious?

Ah, well, it was delicious to eat. *nom* But I punished myself for it later by going running in the freezing wind! I was like, you are not skipping today, missy.
|
Musical Astronaut - ahah I know how that feels, I ate some pita with all that sauce the other day, so I decided to skip the bus and go for a 5/6 km walk back to the train stations, just to compensate ^^
I actually liked it and it didn't take all that long, about an hour and ten minutes or so.. (: |
My first few days since joining the challenge have been pretty OP. See a slow and steady decline in the daily weighing (watch out competition ;) just joking). But really, its exciting to be staying on plan and seeing some results. Can't wait to see wha sticks around as lost next wednesday.
It looks like alot of you chickies are really doing great. This is why challenges can be so wonderful. alliecat- If you started right at the beginning of the competition then you need to average 3.15 lbs a week to see that much weightloss. Since weightloss sometimes slows when you get closer to your goal (less pounds to lose the harder they can be to take off sometimes) Plus you may see a plateau a time or two. Anyways its definitely VERY ambitious. But I don't see why having high goals is so bad. Just as long as your ready to shoot under target. If not hitting your goals makes you want to give up, then definitely make your goal more attainable. But if its just extra motivation to aim so high. And if you will be happy with anyloss, even sub goal loss. Then keep reaching for the stars ;). |
Thanks to Riestrella, I'm added to the chart and I am ready to go!
I'm really excited now. Hope I can stay on plan and lose those pounds! |
Exciting news - even after my lunch of champions yesterday, my 2 workouts paid off! I weighed in just under 185 this morning. :D
Also I've changed my ultimate goal. Not for this challenge but in the long run. Bumping it down from 145 to 135. O.o Nervous! Haha! But I think it will be better for my height/frame. My sister is 3 inches taller than me and is perfect at 145. So I think I could go about ten less than her. What do you guys think? |
