Riestrella: We <3 you!!! Sorry about the drama, but you've handled it beautifully!!

I need to be on here more often, lol!

Hopeful I'll be below 160 for my weigh in on Wednesday!!

aleksandra 01-22-2012 12:43 PM

girls, I have to tell you all (with pride!) that I've finally taken some steps forward in getting over my eating disorder. I've managed being pill-free for exactly 2 weeks, to I wasnt binge free. honestly, I still miss my pills and the feeling they gave me, but I'm developing a new feeling of self-value at the same time.
I must say this spreadsheet makes me review my week every week because of the weigh-ins. I'm not doing great yet, but I'm having a really good on-plan day today and I just wanted to share.

Samantha Daisy 01-22-2012 02:03 PM

Have any of you girls done Jillian Micheal's 30 day shred? I'm curious to know if anyone has done it for the whole 30 days and had good results (in addition to following a good eating plan). I have the dvd and am going to start in on monday. I'll let everyone know how it goes!

Quiet Ballerina 01-22-2012 03:33 PM

aleksandra congratulations! that is a huge accomplishment.

Samantha I haven't tried that. I think I have the DVD...but it wasn't for me. Good luck though!

cross posting some of this between here & Jan chat:
my weekend wasn't super productive (although it is only about 3:15pm, there's still time for some things...lol) but it's okay. I really wanted a lazy, lounge around the apt weekend. It was perfect weather for it. Cold and icy.

Blah that I have to go back to work tomorrow.

Has anyone else seen previews for the movie "The Vow"? Ohmygosh. I want to go see that movie so badly. Me, some chocolate, and a lot of tissues. :) Sounds like a great date to me! :)

I went to the grocery yesterday and stocked up on some tasty, healthy items. Also made up a meal plan (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and two snacks) for the week (Mon-Fri). I am so type A.

So we'll see how it goes. I'm excited about weigh in tomorrow morning because I lost a little more weight as of today. Hoping the scale will be a teeny bit lower by tomorrow. :)

I don't feel like going to the gym, but I can at least work with free weights while I watch TV. :) So that's what I'm about to do.

How was everyone's weekend?

I'm about 2 weeks into the program (I'm not judging it by 30 days, I'm doing each level until I'm ready for the next) and I LOVE IT!. Within this time period, I've been able to fit into size 11 jeans (Im usually a 13) plus I have so much more energy. I am just coming to the end of level 1 as I have skipped some days in between workouts, but I can already see the progress. When I first started the DVD, I couldn't make it through anything other than the jumping jacks. Now the only thing I struggle with is Push-ups, but I have ALWAYS sucked at those! I also LOVE that the dvd is only 20 minutes because I hate working out!

baker23 01-22-2012 05:28 PM

aleksandra- That is such a great accomplishment. Keep it up :)

Samantha Daisy-No I haven't tried it but keep us posted on the results you get :)

I went and worked out today after two days off. Needed a mini break. Right before though, I ended up going to the mall with my mom so look around. I saw swimsuits had been put out at macy's and tried on a bikini....with a skirt but still...so i'm going to post my before shot on this board. And this shot is my modivation to get toned up and finish losing this weight :)

http://img803.imageshack.us/img803/9...ichallenge.jpg

And I finally tried on a size 12 pair of jeans today and they fit PERFECTLY. :) *dances* One size away from my goal size

Veela 01-22-2012 06:15 PM

Congratulation on the size 12 jeans! I am trying to get down to a size 6 from a size 12-10 (depending on the store). Your weight loss is truly inspiring!

Kudos on posting a bikini picture! You are a brave brave lady but you make me want to follow suit. I have to go to the mall tomorrow so maybe I will see if any of the stores have their bikini's out yet and try one on at least then I will have an idea of how far I have to go.

Sabletora 01-22-2012 08:00 PM

Lost 3.1 lbs this week...yay!!!

Am finding my way back to exercising regularly only wish I could get my eating on board. Cooking for 1 is not inspiring it's so much easier to eat out especially after a long, busy, & draining 12 hr shift. Any ideas and tips are greatly appreciated.

liliesinmycereal 01-22-2012 08:25 PM

People keep telling me make food as if I'm feeding many and freeze single portions so you don't have to think as much. When I was actually doing real cooking for myself I would just eat the same thing over and over again making slight variations everyday

ruby5839 01-22-2012 09:09 PM

Drank a ton of water and green tea yesterday and I think it helped me lose a little water weight. Nothing like seeing the scale drop to keep you motivated!!

Kimmyskelter, where in Jamaica do you live? I'm heading to a resort in Negril. You'll have to keep me updated on the weather! :)

Jelbb 01-22-2012 09:49 PM

Wow, whatta weekend. I went with a friend to visit her sister and the three of us dipped down into the states to go shopping. I'm going to Cuba in March and I wanted to hit up some American dollar stores in NY and buy a bunch of medicine, sunglasses, toothbrushes, soap, and deodorant to give away in Cuba to the locals since they have a hard time buying those things.

So... Neither of these ladies is health-focused. In fact, both are somewhat big girls, and they spent our time in the states buying junk food that they don't sell in Canada. When we went out for dinner, they ordered a huge plate of bacon cheese fries and steaks. We went to McDonalds for breakfast, and a Mexican food place the next day.

I have never exercised my will power more intensely than this weekend. I got chili and veg and potatoes instead of steak... I got a yogurt parfait instead of a sausage mcmuffin. I twice told them I wasn't hungry when I was desperate to join in on an eating-fest. That being said, I also ate some fries and some plain nachos. I had a cookie, and regular 7Up with my alcohol cause there was no diet...

I also agreed to go for an 8:30 am run this morning though with her older sister. It was a "learn to run" that she's just started, and I found it very easy, but it was calories out! I couldnt believe however that immediately afterwards, her and her friend took me to McDonalds. I was so confused by the contrast between such a healthy activity with such an unhealthy reward... And when I ordered the yogurt parfait, I got eye-rolling and "ugh, healthy..." comments from them.

Anyhow, I'm proud of myself for making a myriad of both good and bad choices, instead of just letting myself go crazy, and being lazy when the opportunity to workout was presented. Knowing that I'm being weighed in for the Toronto Weight Loss challenge on Tuesday is fairly instrumental in helping me say "No"...

Interested to see how I fared on the scale this weekend. Will weigh in tomorrow am when I haven't just had tonnes of liquid and see where I stand vs Friday's 171.8....

PS, Baker... Hot!! ;)

naffy 01-23-2012 01:33 AM

hey there, i'm also unable to PM Riestrella bc i'm fairly new to this site. i did join the challenge last week though and posted my starting weight and goal in the url. hopefully i'll be able to get access to the document soon.

i do my cooking this way. I usually cook a "basis" for 4 people and then i can make variatons on it. for example: I made a vegetable "basis" with mushrooms last week. I had risotto once, spaghetti with sauce once, baked potatoes once (no from the basis, tho :) ), used a frozen vegetable soup and when i had time to cok on friday i made stew for 2 days. so i ate homemade stuff all week and cooked only once:D

kimmyskelter 01-23-2012 05:21 AM

omg. i got a pm for the bikini challenge thing i think. but when i pressed OK to open it i saw nothing. i dnt even know if it opened.... aaarrrrggh! someone help plzzz!

Tiny Tiger 01-23-2012 06:46 AM

132.5, which is up 1.5 from last week. I don't know what is going on. I held steady at 131 alllll week (which was really irritating in and of itself), but then I randomly had this jump up 1.5 since yesterday. And I ran 6 miles and ate great! Waaaaah. Sorry to be so whiney, this is just so frustrating!

Kimmyskelter: There's a link to your PMs all the way up at the top on the right under where it says welcome. That should take you to it, unless it's different for new members.

ssparks81 01-23-2012 06:59 AM

I would like to join this challenge if still possible. My starting weight is 249.6. Thanks!!

6 miles? How are your muscles feeling? At all sore? Sounds to me like water retention from sore muscles-- 1.5 overnight is definitely not FAT gain. Probably water and or pre-TOM bloat if you're at the right time of the month.

I'd drink lots of water, stick to plan, and not stress at all. Numbers are finicky-- especially when you weigh daily. Half the time, minor weight fluctuations probably have more to do with bloating or dehydration than genuine fat loss.

maybe you have your pop-ups blocked (i have that). you just have to click on your private message link on the right top of the page.
if you have any difficulties doing so, just write down your weight and i'll fill it in for you! :)

thanks for the support girls, by the way

Due to recent drama I am temporarily suspending new members to 3FC (those will low post counts) joining the challenge. A new member came into the challenge and complained and when she didn't get her own way sabotaged the spreadsheet. I'm playing it safe for the time being in case she joins the forum again with a new username and tries to do the same thing.

Hang tight for a few weeks when the dust has settled, contribute to the thread chat and I will start inviting new members into the challenge.

ssparks81 01-23-2012 09:01 AM

Sure I'll just wait for an invite. But I just realized I am in the 20-somethings group. I'm 30 but desperately holding on to 29. Does that count? LOL.

Riestrella 01-23-2012 09:30 AM

I lost the stats of people who had dropped out of the challenge due to the sabotage, so my facts for the week have had to be reset. Here are the results of this week!

whitelikechalk has managed to keep her top spot in the challenge chart, with Aware riding hot on her tail coming it at number 2!
Congrats to Quiet Ballerina for winning this weeks weigh in, losing an amazing 6 lbs with a 3.90% of herself and earning 20 points!
lilypad has taken the top spot for the overall charts having lost 7.27% of her weight with a 12 lb loss. Final Count Down came out of no where and entered the charts in 3rd with a new top 5 entry by Sabletora!

Congrats to everyone who made it into the charts and to all those losing, the spreadsheets I use to make the charts are now viewable by the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet but are locked so can only be edited by me. See how far you were away from getting in the top 20's!

By the end of the week there were 112 people listed on the spreadsheet.
I have had to move 14 people to the stand by list.
There are now 98 people remaining in the challenge!

MusicalAstronaut 01-23-2012 10:05 AM

I'm almost a little worried about myself. This morning I weighed in at 181. Which is exciting, but how did I lose more than 4lbs this week? I didn't go running a single day. I couldn't get myself to go. I've been moping around, crying, watching tv, and I even ate ice cream twice this week. I don't think I'm dehydrated, I didn't drink less water (as far as I can remember). Does being miserable make you lose water weight or something? Or maybe I don't realize that I'm eating less. I also didn't count calories this week. :/ I'm a bit of a mess. Hopefully I can find my energy. But why am I losing so much?

Daki 01-23-2012 10:24 AM

MusicalAstronaut , you definitely could be eating less than you think you are. I know that when I'm really upset the smallest amount of food will make me uncomfortably full. And I don't exactly understand but one week where I slacked on my exercise I wound up losing more weight. No idea how it happened but it did.

Just keep hanging in there! /hug

philana 01-23-2012 10:35 AM

MusicalA: Sorry to hear you are feeling so bad! That sucks big time. The weightloss could be from before this week still too I think? Just like how some people will work themselves silly, not drop anything and then in one week they lose 4lbs. The body works in mysterious ways! Also, like Daki says, you might be eating less than you think. Hope you feel better soon!

CONGRATS to the wonderful ladies that did so well in the challange! QB - how'd you lose 6LBS?! Awesome work!
--
After the doing great I wasted SO MUCH calories last night omg. I did not bake the cupcakes because I did not want to waste calories. I did not buy my favorite snacks even though I had saved up calories because, I did not want to waste them. In the end I wasted them on popcorn that I thought was low-cal ending up being high cal. And then I was so annoyed I just had this old-habit "it's messed up now already" mentality and ate a bag of chips that wasn't even very good. So BLUH for me.

But, I counted it out and I basically ate about a 1000 calories, which means averaged out over the weekend I had two maintenance calorie days this weekend, so I start monday fresh at where I was on friday. No biggie! Went on a run straight away and am gonna end up at 1000 calories today just to be on the safe side. I was hoping to see a loss by today or tomorrow and I can't stand it if it takes another WHOLE WEEK. So a bit more ffort is gonna go into it. Hihi.

Sorry for the ramble. I need to ramble. It's who I am. Nobody around me knows about my attempts. My mom can't be supportive. So it's you guys I ramble to!

Quiet Ballerina 01-23-2012 11:14 AM

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Imagine my delight when I got on the scale this morning. 145.8!
Double and triple checked again. Also putting my new meal plan into effect today (I sort of started over the weekend, but really jumping into it today), and so far it's going well. Since it's Monday and I don't have class (YAY!) I want to make it to the gym tonight. I hate waiting until one of my shows come on (around 8pm usually) but the workout goes by a lot faster if I'm watching TV.

Jellbb that's really nice of you to buy stuff at the dollar store for people in Cuba. I never would have thought of doing something like that. :goodvibes: You also showed some amazing will power! Great job!

Tiny Tiger Don't worry! Maybe it's just your body retaining water? Are you eating enough for all of that exercise?

Musical That's what happened to me during my big weight loss week. I was nervous and stressed and then I was upset and stressed...so food just wasn't appealing to me. So when I ate, since I didn't want much, I made a big effort to put healthy things into my body and drink lots of water.
:hugs: sorry you're stressed. At least today begins a new week, right?

philana I'm as shocked as anyone else! I kept weighing myself every day waiting for the scale to go "ha! fooled you!" I've been working hard at eating better though, which is a big deal for me right now. No takeout (except one day), tons of veggies. Low carbs. Tried to avoid processed foods/snack foods. And water water water. I drink SO much water.

And this site is a huge help to me. I know that I want to watch what I eat and try and get in exercise to see results..but it helps that I know every Monday I log onto here and have to post my weight! I love coming onto 3FC and sharing about my weekend or problems that pop up. Having people to commiserate with about how difficult it can be to lose weight. One of my friends that 'gets it' isn't local, and we don't get to talk as much as I'd like.

It's cold. and rainy. we had some snow over the weekend. brrr! A good day to stay inside if you ask me.

One thing I need to do with my meal plan is figure out the calorie count. I made the meal plan so I could get in daily amounts of fruits, veggies, proteins, etc. I think I'll go work on it now while the babies nap.

baker23 01-23-2012 11:39 AM

MusicalAstronaut- Our bodies are strange. Some weeks we'll lose nothing and others we will have a big drop =D...Enjoy it. Congrats. Fanastic loss this week

philana- Even if you went a little higher then you intended, you didn't gain and thats a success in itself =D. How much running did you end up doing?

Tiny Tiger 01-23-2012 12:10 PM

Jelbb: Hmmm, could be pre-TOM, now that you mention it. My muscles aren't feeling sore, and I run that distance every weekend without a big gain afterward, so I'm not sure that's it. I did drink a bit on Saturday night, so yesterday morning I was dehydrated and I think yesterday I just packed the water on. Trying to be patient but after over a week it gets so hard!

Wow I'm on the challenge chart this week! I feel a little guilty about it because the only reason I lost so much last week is that I was relosing the weight I had just gained the week before. I'm still above my starting weight! But I will get my butt in gear and work to really deserve those points! Great job everyone!

aleksandra 01-23-2012 12:39 PM

congratz to y'all!!!! :carrot:

MusicalAstronaut 01-23-2012 02:09 PM

I think a lot of us only have 3fc to ramble to. :) I'm glad that we can all talk to each other on here.

MadameZombie 01-23-2012 03:23 PM

Woo... Hey everyone! I'm a big lurker on this board but I thought I'd drop in and say hi and congrats to everyone! I dropped this week because I was sick last week and I got my braces tightened... I was basically on a liquid diet and now I'm starving. x_x. I can't wait to get back to the gym and eat something harder than broth.

Oooh. That could be it too. Dehydration = body clinging to as much water as possible? Or just TOM being mean.

Either way, I know how you feel. After the weekend I'm up to 172.2... and even though it was a very tempting weekend, and I should just be proud that it was a minor gain, I wish I'd lost...!

kimmyskelter 01-23-2012 07:21 PM

I checked to see if the link I gave to mandalin was correct and it was, so it must be an issue with your browser. I'm honestly not sure why it's loading properly...it wouldn't make a difference if the link was public or not it's worked for everyone else =S. Perhaps try using a different internet browser? Which one are you using now?

aka8941 01-23-2012 07:41 PM

I'm not on the list. Hmm not sure why but my weight today is 197.5. My starting weight was 201.5

kimmyskelter 01-23-2012 07:57 PM

Riestrella im using google chrome. is there anyway someone can email the link to me then??

mandalinn82 01-23-2012 08:03 PM

I went ahead and emailed it to you.

MusicalAstronaut 01-23-2012 08:04 PM

Today, I got my hair cut. *happy dance* Not the fancy one I want to get when I hit my goal weight (no cheating!) but I did get it a lot shorter. Probably 6 inches off. I like it a lot. :)

And you guys are right, it's probably just my body being weird. I might be back up to 184 tomorrow or maybe I won't change in the next week. Who knows!

baker23 01-23-2012 08:27 PM

Whats your fancy cut going to be? =D....I had planned to go back to blonde when I hit my goal, but was way to impatient and ended up doing it the week before Christmas xD

kimmyskelter 01-23-2012 08:57 PM
