KatieLuna 01-07-2012 03:30 PM

I'm in! I've decided to see how long I can go without chocolate for the new year as I'm definitely a chocoholic!

Hey! Welcome! What was your weight last week? Because that's the starting weight for the competition, not your overall starting weight!

Riestrella 01-07-2012 03:42 PM

Hey everyone!

This week has been AMAZING for me in terms of exercise. I've been doing Insanity all week and I've really been proud of myself for it too. HOWEVER. My EATING is another thing. My parents ordered takeaway pizza, and when that happens I tend to eat half...but I gobbled the whole thing =(. I've also got a lot of sweets/chocolate left over from Christmas that I just keep nibbling on. It's really bad, if I know it's there I feel like I have to eat it! So today I just got fed up and threw it all out. I know it seems like a waste, but I just wanted it out of my drawer and in a place where it won't be coming back.

I'm usually all for eating out, but because I've had a complete stall I declined eating out with a friend tomorrow. We're still hanging out, but I just wasn't up to going to a restaurant with all the temptation. When I'm consistently losing then I don't mind a treat, but when I've been stalling I don't feel like I deserve it! I just want to see the scale go down already!!

aleks - How many calories do you eat a day? When you're exercising a lot you need to eat more - it sounds crazy, believe me I thought so too, but I had a massive loss when I was eating more and exercising 6 times a week.

ClaireBear - Wow, congrats!

aware - Amazing! I'm so jealous of you all losing weight! Haha!

aware210 01-07-2012 10:27 PM

Man i cant wait until my zumba dvds get here. I've heard so many awesome things about zumba and i LOVE to dance so im hoping i will love these videos and i can get toned up for my new bikini!

Quiet Ballerina 01-07-2012 11:38 PM

aware you'll have to let us know how the videos are! I've considered getting them myself.

There's actually a place near me that offers Zumba for really cheap ($5 a class!) and some of the classes work with my schedule (even though they're late at night...8.15-9.15) and I've been thinking about trying them out. I hear such amazing things about Zumba!

supergir111 01-08-2012 06:07 AM

week 1 for me today. I'm just glad to be down at all but I hate the feeling that i'm just losing weight I've regained. I know this sounds really unappreciative of the weight I've lost but I find it hard to see it as 'progress'.
ok, enough of that, wooo i'm down! happy sunday everyone :D

Riestrella 01-08-2012 07:51 AM

Hey everyone! I edited the first post to make it look more fancy and also introduce the CHALLENGE aspect to this craziness! So please take a look at what I've wrote and good luck! Charts will be compiled tomorrow and hopefully put up tomorrow too, so today is your last chance to get in those weights!

Also, please remember that since there are a LOT of people participating for WEEK ONE ONLY I'm going to be moving people to the standby list who haven't entered their starting weights, which means that when I erased them all a week ago they haven't been back since. Sorry for the confusion!

:carrot::cb:WELCOME TO THE BIKINI READY CHALLENGE OF 2012!:cb::carrot:

Hello! I did a Year End Goal challenge last year and I wanted to take the same format and make it BETTER for a Bikini Ready Challenge! "But wait, I don't think I'll be ready for a bikini this year!" I hear some of you cry, well don't you worry you sexy muffin panda, this challenge is all about losing weight for the summer months so there's a spring in your step and you feel more confident with your body than ever before - bikini ready or not!
"But wait, the challenge appears to already have started! I really want to join!" No problemo, my friend! The beauty of the spreadsheet format is that you can join in any time. Just make sure you read all the rules and information and you're all set!

The rules are simples!
  1. Go to the spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...GRQSlM5aTh1SUE
  2. Enter your username, start weight, then scroll over to the right and enter your goal weight. Please remember when entering your starting weight it's the weight that you're at starting THIS challenge - not you're overall starting weight. Also, please do NOT put __ lbs as your starting weight, it messes up with the spreadsheet formulas!
  3. Each week enter your weight between Monday and Sunday, whichever day you prefer to weigh in.
  4. Finally, LEAVE THE LAST 3 COLUMNS ON THE RIGHT ALOONNNEEE. DON'T TOUCH THEM! AH AH! I SAID NO TOUCHING. YES, BACK AWAY. THANK YOU, PLEASE. You may thinking entering your own data manually is helping - it's not. I am your monkey slave for this challenge so let me take care of everything.

The random bits of info you also need to remember!
  • Please be careful when using the spreadsheet, I've had to rearrange columns and re-enter data because of carelessness. I'm doing my best to make sure the spreadsheet is neat and tidy!
  • If you don’t weigh in for more than 2 weeks, I will move you to the stand by sheet. Your information is still there, but it just cleans up the main spreadsheet so the people who are actively participating are only shown. If you jump back in PLEASE DO! Just post in the thread that you want to hop back in and I’ll move you back onto the main spread sheet.
  • I also created a group on Fitocracy for any users who want to be accountable for exercise during the challenge. The group is here: http://www.fitocracy.com/group/4702/ - if you want to join the site then I have 9 invites going!

:carrot::cb:AND FINALLY, LET'S NOT FORGET THE CHALLENGE SIDE TO THIS AWESOMENESS!:cb::carrot:

This year I really want to emphasise that this is a challenge as well as a great way to stay accountable. "What do I have to do?" Nothing! Just keep entering your weights every week and I will sort out the rest. But basically I'm going to be monitoring your progress each week to find out who are our biggest losers for the week and giving the top 20 people points based on where they rank. So for example if you're the number one for the week you get 20 points and if you're number 20 you get 1 point.
"How are the ranks decided?" By your percentage of weight loss, which basically means how much of YOU you have you lost, not how many pounds you have lost. This is fair because people who are at a higher weight tend to lose more pounds than those who are close to their goals. It's also how they decide who's the winner on The Biggest Loser :D

Below you will see 2 shiny charts, one is the overall ranking of who has lost the highest percentage of weight loss, and the other is a chart based on who is kissing a$$ each week and getting all the points - so basically the challenge chart!

The challenge started the first week in January and will go for 25 weeks, which takes us to June. Remember the thread is always there to talk and discuss how you’re doing, so please pop by and say hello every so often =).

aleksandra 01-08-2012 08:12 AM

well, i think i eat quite a lot. for example today i had: 1. bowl of muesli, 2. wholegrain bread slice with ricotta cheese, 3. ribs (2 bones) with potatoes, 4. fruit yoghurt. I think that will be all (right now i had meal no. 3) for today.
i'm seriously thinking about getting myself some protein bars or protein shakes, to replace 1 meal with it. maybe that would help? :?:
i do think that my workout routine is playing some role there. because i'm starting with my 10k preparations in february, i've added up strenght training (for 2 months now), so a part of this weight could be muscle gaining. i can actually see muscles building up on my arms, back and stomatch, so it is possible ... and i do like that look! but i REALLY REALLY REALLY want to be 145 pounds, too :D ARGH!!! :D

aware210 01-08-2012 01:43 PM

back down to 131 today! All the water weight from the holidays is goooone! lol I feel much better to be back where i was, and now i can start going down. some more 16-23 more pounds to lose!

Its funny how much of a difference those 7 pounds made on my stomach, 138 felt sooo bloated, and 131 feels soo flat and slim. If only the weight would come off my butt and hips as easily.

MusicalAstronaut 01-08-2012 02:41 PM

Sexy.....muffin.....panda? Lollllll. Thanks for the laugh. :)

crazygurl61 01-08-2012 03:20 PM

Ah! 149.2 today. Sore muscles from being at Disneyland all day. Hoping some of it depletes tomorrow for weigh in. A discouraging day.

lisa4621 01-08-2012 05:02 PM

Just weighed in and 1lb lost this week. Not too bad as since my spinning class my knee has hurt too much to go back to the gym. I am going to go on Tuesday and take it easy the first couple of days to see how it goes.

You're welcome! It's the perfect pet name formula: adjective + something delicious + an animal.

kels2786 01-08-2012 07:45 PM

I'M IN!

MusicalAstronaut 01-08-2012 10:26 PM

Welllll after 5 days at Disney World....I didn't change at all. :/ That's better than a gain, and I kind of did eat cotton candy and ice cream while there. :P So it could have been worse. Tuesday I start my half marathon training. Wish me luck!

Riestrella 01-09-2012 05:40 AM

Hello everyone! This is it, WEEK ONE RESULTS! Considering this is week one, they also count as the overall results too.

By the end of the week there were 102 people listed on the spreadsheet.
I have had to move 12 people to the stand by list.
There are now 90 people remaining in the challenge!

Overall Chart:

Congratulations to Addicted for taking the top spot with a massive 4 lb loss in this difficult first week of January! And a huge congrats to all the top 20!

Let's work hard and try and get our fine behinds in the top 20!

Addicted 01-09-2012 07:28 AM

Thanks Riestrella! Really though, I had been sick and unable to eat! This week wasn't so good... Well done to everyone!

noelle8310 01-09-2012 08:27 AM

I had lost two pounds throughout the week. Yesterday morning I weighed 207 on the dot. Today I weighed 212.8. I want to cry right now.

 Don't feel sad! Do you weigh in every day at the same time? Maybe your scales need new batteries if they're electronic? Or you might just been retaining water, so drink up that h20 goodness! The spreadsheet weights for the week are always changeable up until Sunday so if you manage to get down then come back and change it! I always weigh in on a Sunday to give myself the whole week to work hard, and choose the lowest weight from the week as my weight.

Its ok :) Your most likely retaining water from either working out, or pmsing. It'll go down. Or like riestrella said, it could be you scale battery. My scale got down to 187.4 this week but shot back up to 189 this morning. What matters is you see a loss overtime. :) Daily fluctuations happen

Congrats to everyone this week

doyschert87 01-09-2012 11:26 AM

Hi there, joining this for sure!!!!!

petitefleur 01-09-2012 11:42 AM

Riestrella, I joined the Fitocracy group and followed you. :carrot: My sn there is the same.

FeelinIt 01-09-2012 11:48 AM

Almost a 3 pound loss!! proud of myself :)

Yes, I weigh in every morning right after I use the rest room. I won't even take a sip of water before weighing myself, lol. I ate HORRIBLY yesterday. Went to a birthday party with my daughters and had pizza, then had fast food for dinner. I also drank soda. As bad as I ate, I was still at about 2500 calories. I am wondering if I am retaining more water than normal because that crappy medicine is still in my body? The whole time I was on it, I was drinking water like crazy to flush out as much of the water retention as possible. Yesterday was the one day the whole time that I did not drink my normal 3-4 liters of water. So that plus all of that sodium...I expected a gain, but not almost 6lbs. That is just insane. I hope I am back at 207 tomorrow ;) Hahaha.

CaliforniaDreamer 01-09-2012 02:13 PM

Hi ladies! I lost 4 lbs this week. I didn't think I would lose that much lol I was hoping for 2 lbs! Good luck this week ladies!

happenstance 01-09-2012 04:46 PM

So I'm in! Q for Riestrella though....inputting my weight...I'm assuming I should start it at the current week and leave the first column blank?

darlingbrit 01-09-2012 07:37 PM

I am excited to be working my derriere off! Well, maybe more working my front butt off lol but still! I cannot wait to hit maintenance!

Paja 01-09-2012 07:48 PM

My first actual weigh-in since starting the challenge is tomorrow, and I'm excited about it (which is silly, but I am!). I always get excited about weigh-ins when I feel like I've done good (or at least decent). This week has sort of been weird, but I feel good so hopefully that's a prediction of what's in store.

Miss Sandra 01-09-2012 08:02 PM

I'm in. :) I've had a great week food wise, so I feel like i'm finally back on track after the holidays!

princessgina00 01-09-2012 09:00 PM

Well, I can contribute my very good 1st week of this challenge to the fact that I am currently getting rid of my "holiday bloat." I weighed in at 188 today (1 pound away from my pre-holiday weight), so I believe I may have another good week and that may be my last "good" challenge week. :D

sekc14 01-09-2012 09:27 PM

Is the starting weight supposed to be your weight when you first began Ideal Protein? Or the WI that you had the week before this competition started?

Since the first week is already over and tallied I'd just put your weight from today and then jump in next week? It's really up to Riestrella though. And not everyone here is on IP. I'm pretty sure a lot of different plans are represented.

somethingnew912 01-09-2012 10:28 PM

Riestrella, I'm so sorry for messing with your last 3 columns! :o

I do have a question, though. According to my percentage weight loss, it seems like I would be somewhere in the challenge winners top 20? Maybe I am confused about something...

Thanks for working so hard on this!

RachelAnne 01-09-2012 10:30 PM

GAH, I am at 133 this week...+3 from last week. I've been strict on everything but it's still blah to see. Hopefully I see some negative pounds next week!

That top 20 was only for the first weigh in. You started at 266 and your first weigh in put you at 264.8. 266-264.8=1.2\266=.00451x100= .45% loss for week one.

Sorry, I know I'm not the challenge leader but I hope that helps!

somethingnew912 01-09-2012 11:15 PM

Thank you! I could have figured that out if I had stared at the information for a couple more minutes :)

This is my first time really doing one of these challenges and I've never done one with a spreadsheet involved.

Congrats to everyone this week

Thanks :) I am used to daily fluctuations, as I have always weighed myself daily. I usually don't sweat it, but to go up almost 6 lbs is unheard of for me. I usually give myself leniency for about a 3 lb fluctuation. That's what I am used to my body doing, even when I do eat horribly. It totally caught me off guard. On a side note, when I weighed myself tonight and it was 210. It's nice weighing less at night than in the morning! Lol!

jayohwhy 01-10-2012 12:46 AM

OMG. I was just looking over the chart and realized that I typo-d my weigh in wrong last week-- i put it as 10 lbs more than it was, haha! I corrected it now, so it shows that I lost 2 lbs instead of having gained 8. oh man.

Oh well, i'll try to type the right number this week. :]
