ha! i resisted the girl scout cookies! for the first time in, i think, my life! this adorable little girl was toting around a cart in my office yesterday chock full of leftover boxes and i ran across her path twice and turned her down twice! but now i want a samoa. no i don't! argh. inner struggle.

as for me, i just started using the daily plate this week. i've always been a fitday user for my calorie counting, but i saw some posts about tdp and wanted to check it out... i really like it! i like it better than fitday! i like that you can save meals that you eat routinely, because i eat the same things over and over and over. literally, the same things monday through friday breakfast through dinner.

anywho, i hope everyone is having a good start to their week!

TOM came and my WW weigh in was still positive. I've lost all the V-day weight and a smidge more.

Cass - I just realized we are the same height! You too can run I started out by following the couch to 5k program on coolrunning.com. If your ever interested it is a great program, a lot of the girl son here follow it.

macky - Good for you turning them down. I managed to turn them down at work but somehow they snuck into my home lol. I use nutridiary.com I really like how graphical it is. You can click on each glass of water or serving of fruit. It also allows you to save meals you eat over and over.

WOW is all I can say about last night. The hubby and I had a very small tiff late in the afternoon that just threw me into the worst self deprecating funk. Spent most of the night in said funk until falling asleep. Woke up around 4, talked with the husband until 5 then went back to sleep till 7. I am a tired girl today! Indulging in a non fat venti caramel mach from Starbucks... Moral of this very off topic story is that I did not make it to the gym last night grrrrr.

One day I will complete the Couch to 5K program. That is a fitness goal I will work towards sometime this year. I found out at 214, that running just with the kids was amazing.

macky 03-03-2009 11:01 AM

I started the couch to 5k this year, made it half way through week 4 and totally hit a wall. My knees and ankles started hurting (athletic injuries from years ago) and I think mentally, it was just a lot for me. I'm still running but I'm back down to alternating 2 mins walking with 2 mins running and it's a lot more manageable and doesn't kill my knees.

I wish I could run a whole 5k, a real race, outdoors and all, but I don't think that's in my future.

Stephanie Osborne 03-03-2009 11:10 AM

daimere - I don't have any kiddos but I imagine it would be a blast to just be able to run with them.

macky - I did the c25k got about 5 weeks in then found it progressed too quickly. I started to get knee pain as well as shin splints. So I started modifying the program to fit me... Now my challenge is just staying on a running program. My schedule has been so absolutely hectic that I started skipping runs. Which is bull because they literally take 30 minutes and every hotel I stay in has a treadmill. No more I am done making everything else a priority lol.

Stephanie-The sad thing is that there was a few skinny "fit" group leaders and I was outrunning them. It was a great feeling.

Yesterday I wasn't exactly on plan because of my birthday . . . but i tried sushi for the first time and I must say...I'm going to be working it into my plan from now one because it was soooo good. For my birthday, my mom is getting us both a membership at a gym, I am SO stoked! I can't wait to start using a gym and also to start swimming laps!! Funny thing is, I was down .4lbs this morning! woohoo, but not so woohoo because of totm :[

I'm going to try and do day 3 of 30DS today. x.x

Daimere 03-03-2009 01:29 PM

Way to go, heather!

Stephanie: I know your situation is different than mine but some advice I can give you is plan, plan, plan. I plan all of my meals and snacks the night before so that I know I will be in my calorie budget and don't have to worry about it as I go or get home and realize I'm way over for the day. I pack everything in containers or bags the night before so I just throw them into my lunchbox before I leave for school. I try to keep things in my car or locker that I can throw together to make decent mini-meals if I forget my lunch--nuts, dried fruit, protein bars. This way I don't really have an excuse eat a hamburger and fries in the cafeteria instead.

Heather: I am glad you've been introduced to the wonderful world of sushi! It's so delicious; I've been wanting some lately but haven't made it fit into my calorie budget yet!

Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!

happy belated birthday heather;
I used to really hate sushi bc I couldn't stand the smell. Then one day I actually decided to try it, and I loved it so much; the good thing is a lot of them are pretty low in calorie. then again, there are those sushi rolls stuffed with like philly cream cheese...

heather88 03-03-2009 01:40 PM

Thanks guys :]

The sushi that I tried had some raw shrimp, egg yolks, and various other veggies in it and it didn't even have a fishy aftertaste or smell! . . . I really liked them because they are so full of protein that after two I was full for the rest of the evening.

Daimere 03-03-2009 01:48 PM

How do you make your own sushi?

heather88 03-03-2009 02:18 PM

Hm, I don't know how to make sushi. I just bought some fresh sushi from brookshires, but I think it would be cool to be able to make my own . . . here is a sushi-making kit on amazon tho http://www.amazon.com/Sushi-Chef-Mak...6107752&sr=8-2

Lol, they also have a book called "sushi for dummies". From what I've seen sushi is pretty hard to make . .

Stephanie Osborne 03-03-2009 03:48 PM

heather - Happy belated birthday! Thats an awesome gift from your mom, enjoy it...

dcslm - Seems like very good advice. I will have to try it! Especially packing it the night before...

My Dad is japanese and my mom has been making her own sushi for years. You basically lay down dried seaweed then rice and the things you want in the sushi on a bamboo rack. The rack is made of individual bamboo sticks so it rolls easily and seals the sushi with just a little water as glue. You can then cut the sushi to size. Not too hard at all!

So far so good... just dropped off some marketing materials to my favorite bridal shoppe. Getting excited about my engagement session followed by a mountain wedding this weekend. I need to be sure to bring my running shoes and like dcslm says PLAN AHEAD!
