Maggie Congrats on seeing a new number!! I hope that it is consistent with the number you see when you get back home. I worked out 2 times over the weekend in an effort to combat that cellulite!! I am so sore today.
boop YAY, that is awesome, way to go!!
Still struggling with food on the weekends. I did work out two times, so I guess some of the gain might be from sore muscles, but I have a feeling it has more to do with poor food choices on Friday and Saturday. I ate OMAD yesterday and still had a significant gain.
boop I hear you on the fluctuations, I have been in the 170's for what feels like forever (although, to be fair its mainly my own undoing)! Nice job on the inches lost!!
I have a weight loss buddy in RL, which is mostly great. My current issue is that she gets less and less subtle about the details of the weight loss plan we're on (portion control with some calorie counting). I dislike that because then people tend to get in my business about what I'm eating or not eating. My buddy doesn't care - she would actually rather talk about it to anyone and everyone (she loves discussing her life's details, which is just not me).
I'm trying to think of a way to nicely ask her to not bring up our weight loss plan with others who I know around. This is difficult because she thinks she's being very subtle and not talking about it.
kfunk: Great job with the workouts! Activity is so great for health, and apparently for cellulite. I was thinking about why that might be. The only thing came up with is that cellulite = subcutaneous fat. Weight loss reduces that fat, and leg workouts tighten up the area. So that made sense to me. And if you're like me, a new workout will definitely make your daily weights wonky, but it can definitely be worth it (and the weight gets less wonky in time - at least from that).
boopchick: I have noticed that too. I assume the lower I get in weight, the more insane my daily weight will be. That's one of the reasons monthly measurements are a good idea - even if the scale isn't cooperating despite being on plan, the measurements can show a difference. And aren't the measurements going down one of the biggest goals, anyway?
Congrats on the inches lost!

maggie I am sorry you are in that situation. It is a tough one. I tend to lie in situations like this and tell her that someone overheard your conversation and was asking you a bunch of questions that make you uncomfortable and from now on you would like to text or email about it instead. But I don't think it would be out of line to tell her what you told us and just be straightforward with her. I think that some people have no self awareness when it comes to the types of things they say/how loud they talk.
Thank you! That makes complete sense about the cellulite. I did an hour on the treadmill last night and am excited about it. I picked a show that was interesting to me and it made it easy. I am hoping that the scale starts to move in the next week or so, but think it could take a while for my body to adjust.
173.8 but my scale did show that I went down a full % bringing my body fat estimate from 39 to 38!
Scale read 152 today. Still up in the air about whether it's accurate (or even if it is if it'll stick - I frequently bounce up 1-3 lbs for a while after a new low). Still nice to see!
kfunk: Thanks. I think I will talk to her, but I want to take the time to really iron out what I want to say. She's a great help most times, but this one thing does really bother me. Awesome job with the treadmill! I'm glad watching a show makes it easier! I'm the same way where I need something to occupy my mind when I exercise more than 5 minutes. I think for me it took a week or two for the scale to get moving after starting a new workout routine, but then it also could have just been my natural zigzag of loss, so who knows? Great news about losing the 1% of body fat! That's good progress! That's kind of the whole point of weight loss, even more so than lbs lost. And I'm jealous of your bf%! I'm the same in the low 150s.
maggie Congrats on seeing 152 on the scale, I hope that it sticks for you! When are you back home?
You are smart to wait for the right words!! Thank you! I love reality series about weight loss, cosmetic surgery, etc. I will try to find a few on Netflix and have them ready, its exciting to have something to look forward to watching!! Thank you, I am not sure how accurate of a measure it is, I have heard its best to get measured with calipers.
151.4 this morning. I swear, if this not-my-scale is just toying with my emotions and my scale puts me at like 155 when I get home, I may just travel back here to smash it. Although my host may not love that...
kfunk: Yeah, I don't use calipers either (I go by tape measure), but I've read that all methods except bodypod or something have more or less similar margins of error. I guess I don't care too much so long as it's going down and not up! I've liked several weight loss reality shows (no idea what they are now, but hey) - they can be movitating at times! And I'm glad yesterday was a great day!
NFTM: Hello and welcome to the thread! Happy you decided to check it out! Wow, you're super close to the 170s! New decades are always so fun.
Has anyone watched Revenge Body with Khloe? I also find these kind of shows really motivational! I've made up my mind to get a smart scale but now I'm undecided on what brand I should go with. The reviews are so mixed online. I want one I can sync with an app that is hopefully not a paid subscription.
kfunk I was thinking about gemini...have you heard from her?
maggie It better not be messing with you!! That is a good point, as long as it goes down you know that you are on track!! Thank you!
boop I am going to check out that show, thank you for the recommendation!! I bought a Taylor scale, but as far as I know it doesn't sync up to an app. I have not heard from her, hope she is doing well.
I was 151.6 today on my home scale, so it looks legit! However, now I'm going out of town again tonight and will be gone a couple days, and I'll be eating out for all my meals, so I've really got to watch it to not accidentally go way over my calories. It should be fine, but I won't be surprised at a sodium bump up.
Have a great weekend, guys!
boop: I haven't seen the show, I don't think. Have you heard good things about it? I've thought about getting a smart scale, but I figure I'll revisit it when my regular one dies. That's a good idea to check for a paid subscription before buying - I wouldn't have thought of that.
