Have you done it yet? ;) I'm trying to break a plateau with this. Ps: take your measurements!! And photos (mine are NOT pretty! But hey, motivation, right? ;) ) |
Hey! I just did it, level 1, day 1. OMG I lay on the floor after it was done! I want to work my way up to the full lunges, since those actually make me fall over after a workout!
I will TOTALLY take pics! I bought a new bathing yesterday that is a wee bit snug, so that'll be great motivation! I'll take them in the morning though, when I'm slimmer ;) Thanks for the motivation!!! -Sarah |
No, thankyou!! I did it this afternoon, and weirdly enough feel really relaxed, no soreness! I hope that doesn't appear tomorrow morning! My skin is glowing and I think I'll sleep tonight for the first time in weeks :D
I was lying down on the floor too ;) After the chest flies, I thought... Really? I need to get up and do this AGAIN?! Aaagh! The sweat was literally dripping off my face by the end, I don't think I've busted my a** that much in years, what a scary thought, no wonder I'm unfit! Hope you're ready to go at it again tomorrow!! I might have to go out, so will be making a concerted effort to get to bed earlier (not complaining about THAT) in case I need to get up earlier to get this done. Pretty much have to have it done by 7pm so I don't annoy the dude downstairs. No excuses! Here's to much better bikini shots after the month! ;) |
Seesaw scale is back.
191.2 today. Back up a pound. :( I will get there though. You ladies are so inspiring with the exercise. I feel so guilty that my program limits me to 20-30 minutes of light walking only until I get within 20 pounds of goal. Maybe I will start doing the yoga dvd for people with fibromyalgia that I bought . It feels like the least I can do to not be a total slacker around this group! :) |
I'm back up a pound too, kat117, but I have learned that weigh ins after a day with salt and/or a workout are a bad idea for me! I had both yesterday but still, nice to see the 190's even on bloated days!

193 today
|
Ok, I feel a bit guilty about this, but it's been 6 weeks and I have to tell someone who will appreciate it...
195!!!!!! *puts on party hat* 195!!!!! I wasn't destined to be 196 forever!!! *cartwheels* Kat: you are not slacking!! Do not bust your a** because you're doing this your own way, stick with what's working for you! I am in a world of PAIN today, lol, and need to do it all again. Ouch! You have lost 90lbs and that is an amazing achievement, don't ever exercise to prove something, nobody who's slacking off just up and loses 90lbs without effort :D When you're ready, for you and you alone, up the exercise if you want and if it makes you feel good :) The beauty of this forum is that no plan is better or worse than another, it's all whatever works for you :) But join in the accountability thing if you want to post up what walking you've been doing :) Walking really helped me and I wish I'd do it more often! |

I'm glad you guys are liking the 30DS, though! Can't wait to hear/see how the program transforms you. I haven't stepped on the scale since Monday morning. It's weird! I sincerely hope I see a loss by next Monday. If I don't, I may be scheduling an appointment with my doctor to pick her brain. On paper, I'm doing everything right (staying under my net calorie goal, not eating processed foods, getting all my veggies in, working out at least an hour every day, etc.), but maybe it's just not "right" for me? |
Alli, I feel your pain. Plateaus are a b*tch!! Sometimes I think you just need to wait it out, but also if you're doing everything "right", maybe switch it up by doing something "wrong"? I mean deliberately, I've heard people can get through them by adding a few cheat days... Go up a bit, then go back OP and back down again and keep going. Maybe change your workouts a bit? If you do cardio, do strength. If you do strength, do cardio. Take a rest day. If you work out in the morning, try the evening, or vice versa... Sorry if I sound like an a** as you probably know all this, but plateau-breaking has been getting some diligent study from me the past month or so!! Also, try not to stress out about it too much... Stress --> cortisol --> insulin resistance & increased ghrelin & decreased leptin --> fat storing conditions. Have you read that "whooshes & squishy fat" article? I reckon there's truth in it. My arms went all "marbly" for a few weeks, the next thing I knew, I was getting them into shirts I couldn't get them into before. Someone posted a link somewhere else on this forum, that's how I found out about it. I'll dig out the link if you want a look at it :)
I have to nip to the shop and will be working out when I get back! Nothing like the prospect of showing you all my before/after shots to make me work at it!! :D |
Shiv - I'd love to read that article! Heehee, squishy fat. :)
I'm trying not to stress out too much, which is part of the reason why I stopped the daily weigh-ins for a bit. And you're not the first one who has suggested that I switch up my workouts. I really enjoy my group fitness classes, but maybe tonight I can do some strength training after Zumba. I might as well take full advantage of the gym while I can, since DH is out of town for the night visiting family, and he brought the kiddo with him! Also, I haven't taken a free/cheat day in awhile. Other than eating back my exercise calories, which kind of feels like cheating even though it's not. Maybe I'll splurge a little bit today (ooh, what a rebel!) and see if it shocks my body into dropping some of the weight. :) |
Ok, here you go! If you google "whooshes and squishy fat" there are people talking about it on forums, their experience of it.
http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat...uishy-fat.html Do you have Body Pump classes where you are? Most of the gyms round here do them, it's very popular! It's (I think) part cardio with a barbell (I haven't been in ages since I'm not with a gym right now. If you have something like that, you could do some strength training in a class environment :) NorthernChick! Checking in, just did 30DS day 2... It was harder than yesterday as I was so sore, but do it! It gets rid of the soreness for the most part. Am I the only one who has to throw down my poxy little 1kg dumbells halfway through because I'm about to get cramp? I was lifting 6kg before this!! But that was slow reps with no cardio, so I'm hoping I can up the weights on my next run through. Another thing about 30DS... I think it works, in part, because it makes your backside hurt so much you can't bear to sit on it any longer ;) |
I've never heard of Body Pump, but there is a class called Body Works that meets right before my Zumba class at the gym. They use dumbbells, so I'm fairly certain it's a strength training class as opposed to cardio. Maybe I'll pop out of work a bit early so I can do a double. :)

Hope you like it if you go! :D

AHAHAAHHAHA That is the best quote I have ever heard! Yes, I just finished Day 2 on level 1!!!!! I sat down for a minute to rest and thought "hmmm...I don't feel too out of breath!" Then, I tried getting up and my quads and I made the same noise William Wallace makes in Brave Heart when they torture him. I was definitely more sore today too!!! Unfortunately, I think I aggravated my torn ankle ligament today during cardio. (1.5 years ago during the Toronto Marathon- hence my gain!) I used to get all super sad BUT I just did all the punching instead! I can totally rock a low-impact version of 30DS so that's what I plan to do! Today was also my hardest day since I am always at school till 6 pm for an extra-curricular, but I still did my work out! WOO!!!! I was around 193 something this morning....but I am expecting small increases due to working out again :) Now, off to crawl to the stove to make dinner! THANKS TEAM!!!! |
Go on yourself! Nice discipline! :D
You got it right, just keeping moving to keep the intensity up is the way to go, those side lunges with the weights out in front? Don't make me laugh! I often need to break for a few but keep the lunges going if my arms feel like they're about to cramp. Hoping by day 10 I can keep those up right through! Does downing 2 pints of water count as cardio? I HATE THE CARDIO! Which must mean I need to do it more... THEY MAY TAKE YOUR SANITY, BUT THEY WILL NEVER TAKE YOUR FREEEEEEEEDOM :D Excuse my excitement, I just got into 2 pairs of trousers that didn't fit when I bought them. |
