My name is Teresa Sewell I would like to join your group I am restarting WW tomorrow after many years of being off WW and having regained a lot of weight. I will post me menu tomorrow night, I hope this helps I think it will. Thanks Teresa

Ahhhhh!!! My day went to **** in a hand basket. Oh my gosh. Not even going to count. Let me just list. Pria bar, tortilla chips, m&ms, chicken taco (made at home), about two cups of rice and about 3/4C pinto beans.

I am so angry. I was doing so well all week. I guess I can just cross my fingers and toes that this one afternoon won't ruin the rest of my efforts. Will be good tomorrow. I weigh in tomorrow night. It is rough when the oldest child starts all day school. :( Makes me sad. Makes me eat a ton too as you can see.

Anyway, Morrigan welcome back. I hope you enjoyed your vacation. That sounds wonderful to have a group of friends do stuff like that for so many years in a row. I myself have found that with having children, all friendships changed. New and old. Who knew that raising your children differently from everyone else causes such a fluctuation in relationships? Not even big stuff, some people are rigid (kids can't sleep anywhere but home, or have to be in bed by 8pm. Or, won't sleep without being rocked to sleep OR, won't eat certain foods so we can't go to certain places to eat. or places aren't "kid" friendly.) Sorry for that wacky run on sentence. Anyway, nobody is right and nobody is wrong but we just don't always mesh any more. I found myself reflecting on this about a month ago. I think my family tends to me a bit more lax on the above situations. Don't get me wrong. We are on a pretty nice schedule. They are in bed by 8 on school nights and we eat dinner together at the table at 6pm every night. We just have some room for change every now and then.

Sounds like I need to find a support group of some other kind doesn't it? I was going to erase this, but what the heck? It took too long to write. :)

Here is to an on point day tomorrow for us all!!! Good night!

morrigan 07-25-2006 02:13 AM

We have been friends in a big enough group for long enough that those who don't adapt well to group situations have drifted out - well, except for me. But my DH is quite beloved by everyone and so they put up with me. I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut, but have learned to do so.

One new dad of a 13 month old boy saw his son holding my DD's doll and started yelling, "who gave my son a doll" -- threw a mini tantrum and demanded his wife dig out her cell phone (as a replacement toy) and get rid of the doll ... it was crazy. I certainly have never seen a headline, "ONE YEAR OLD TURNED GAY BY EXPOSURE TO DOLL". It made me mad like nothing has in awhile. But I kept my cool, realizing that you can't reform 35 year old rednecks and was actually extremely thankful in knowing that there was not a single person in our group even remotely on his side. In the interest of harmony, the outburst was largely ignored. Therin lies my problem. I have a very difficult time ignoring stupidity and feel the need to point it out to the ignorant.

In the end, those whose children have more structured bedtimes, the guys whose wives will not tolerate them playing XBOX till 4 am day after day, and even those who are weirdly possessive about stuff (like bringing their own junk food/alcohol/gear and then freaking when it disappears in a 2am refridgerator raid/late party/etc) are the ones that don't come. In the end, my kids will have a lifetime of summers building pirate forts, sea kayaking, and hanging with some of the best friends they will have in their lives, while the kids of our lost friends will grow up with parents that don't take them anywhere fun and are somewhat lame. This is my rant...

On a brighter note...

Big welcome to Teresa (degamom44)! It is always thrilling to see a post labeled #1 and to realize what a step that is alone. So welcome and I hope that sharing here helps you acheive your own goals.

ANOTHER BLOW OUT WHY CANT I STAY IN POINTS? I FEEL POSITIVE BUT I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT FOOD AND WHEN I THINK ABOUT FOOD ALL THE TIME I GET HUNGRY OR SO I THINK I AM HUNGRY THEN I EAT WHAT EVER.

hmm... i know i'm not very far along, so i don't know if these suggestions will help, or if they're things you already know or have tried, but here's my .02 for what it's worth:
I find that on the days that I am ravenous all day, there are usually some common threads:
1. not enough fruits and vegetables. I usually have at least one vegetable (or fruit) at every meal. I'd like to be able to have them at snacks, but the nature of my job makes this impractical. Also, I find that eating my vegetables first seems to make it so i eat less of my other food
2. not enough water. Nutritionists say that thirst actually feels like hunger at first. Sometimes I think i need a snack, but if I just drink some water instead, i feel full again.
3. Not the right breakfast. My body is very particular about what I eat for breakfast. I have to have a certain number of points for breakfast or i'm hungry two hours later, and i'm often more hungry throughout the whole day. In addition, I have to spend the points on the right things for breakfast. For example, when I was easting 7-9 point breakfasts, if i had a croissant and lowfat yogurt for brekfast, I'd be hungry, but if i had a poached egg, a piece of whole grain toast and a cup of 2% milk, then i'd be fine.
4. PMS. All you can do for this one is surround yourself with things that are healthy and yummy, try to find places where you can appropriately indulge, and then pray a little bit.

Also, sometimes I may think i'm hungry, or that i'm not quite full and then stand up or move around or otherwise change my physical body position, and realize that i'm full.

Thnking about food all the time is a really tough one. I think the best defense would be to keep water, healthy snacks and fruit/veggies at hand. I may not always be able to have carrot sticks with me, but I generally have a TLC granola (2 pts and very filling for a small granola bar) and water with me. So, If I do talk myself into being hungry, then I have something healthy and filling to eat.

morrigan 07-25-2006 12:44 PM

Not an auspicious start to the day, but I am resolved to hang in there.

Breakfast: my oatbran cereal with blueberries (3), and some of the kids (2), creamer (1)
Unplanned snack: 3oz chicken breasts (3) that I was grilling up for snacks tomorrow
Unplanned snack: the rest of the tofu from yesterday (3.5)

I really need to prepare meals on not just graze on random refridgerator things.

Here is my take on a 32 point day. Don't sweat the daily numbers, just make sure your average for the week is between your target number to 7 points above it.

morrigan 07-25-2006 12:52 PM

Let me clarify: Here is a sample 5 weeks on WW for me. This was the month of May 2006. The first 7 numbers are daily points, the next number is the amount of weight I lost or gained. The last number is my average points per day. As you can see, a few 50 plus days didn't stifle my weight loss. I did not work out more than 1-2 times per week in this period. My target points are 24 per day and the day I had only 14 I was sick. If I were to eat all my extra points, then 24 + 35/7 = 29 points. Any time my average is more than 29 points I ate all my extra points plus a bit. Any time my average is less than 29 points I did not use all my extra points.

40 29 37 20 20 32 53, -2.4, 33.0
14 30 32 34 30 24 39, -3, 29.0
29 32 31 29 36 43 76, 2, 39.4
24 32 35 27 30 38 32, -3, 31.1
24 27 27 20 36 27 30, -2.6, 27.3

buffalosister1 07-25-2006 04:10 PM

Hi guys. No more rant on Friends and raising children today. I guess I got that all out of my system. ;) As always Morrigan, you gave great insight and I appreciate that.

VoODoO, it is aways nice to have the reminder and get new info from people. I appreciate your view and getting up and moving if feeling hungry after eating. I should have tried that at the dinner table last night. May have stopped my ravenous act on the rice. So, next time. Thanks for your thoughts. Always a help or at least a kick in the pants. :)

Today has been odd again. PMS time.

Breakfast
lite English muffin with jelly 2pts

snack
lrg bagel 5pts
light crm chs 2pts
sugar free ice blended mocha (coffee bean and tea leaf) 3pts

lunch
left over rice 2.5pts
some chicken 2.5pts

I have nine points left and won't consume them until after weigh in. Then, I will consume a few more than nine. That is ok. I am really curious to see what my results are tonight. I thought I was doing so well, but the scale is about the same. :?:

Morrigan, would you say your thoughts on the points thing is similar to the Wendie plan? It sounds about the same. I was attempting that this week. I don't think my super high day was super high. and some of my lower days were higher than they should have been. I may have eaten more over the week than I would have without trying the plan. This coming week, I am going to really try to follow it to a T. It makes so much sense to me.

Will close for now. I will check back in after my meeting. Bye--Amy

Hi all!

Having another "hungry" day again today, and with tomrrow being weigh-in I can't afford to go over points. I haven't done that well this week and on Sunday I so desperately wanted a cheeseburger and fries that my husband drove to Carls Jr. and got it for me. First one I've had in 4 months! Worth every point, no matter how many they were. But probably won't help me at weigh-in tomorrow.

Today so far:

12oz skim latte - 2pts
Kashi Oatmeal - 2pts

Pria mint 110 cal. bar - 2pts

Ham & spinach on ww baguette - 3pts
Balance 100 cal bar - 1pt
Cheese nips 100 cal pk. - 2pts

I have 8 points left for dinner tonight. Plan on having Tilapia and salad. I'm still starving!

mpaigew 07-25-2006 08:57 PM

Start- 26pts

Dinner- 2 pieces homemade pizza- 10 pts
1/4 cup ice cream on a 1/2 piece of low fat pie-4.5

Breakfast- 2 cups coffee w/creamer- 1pt

Lunch- turkey on whole wheat bread 2.5 pts
cake (couldn't resist sampling)- 5.5 pts

Total-26

D:

It was seriously hard to eat enough today, and I participated in strenuous activity, which means bigger snacks beforehand and being hungrier afterward.
Any tips for my SHD on thursday? If today was hard, then a day with 10 more points will be really hard.
