Hello. I've been back on WW after being off for a long while. I've weighed in twice now, for a total loss of 11 pounds!! :) I weigh in on Sat. mornings. I've checked a few sites out and would really like to join in with you all. Don't think you'll mind??!!

I'm really excited about losing weight this time, and have the support of a close friend who's also attending WW with me. I'm doing WW this time for ME! I'm determined to become a healthier person - and at this point, am still looking forward to weigh-ins!

My 7 yr old is at Cub Scout Day Camp this week - I've got a few extra hours to myself and thought this would be the best time to try to figure out how to work these "threads"...

buffalosister1 07-12-2006 10:52 AM

Welcome Elizabeth! I must say that this is the first time I was really ready to lose weight, and by golly it is working! So, good luck to ya. Don't have any hints for figuring the threads. I have been on here for several months now, and still don't get it all. Good luck and again, welcome!!! --Amy

Hi all!
Amy>>thank you.
I I haven't been posting because I search new job for summer season.Meniu later...

AJsMommy 07-12-2006 12:14 PM

Welcome Elizabeth!! Good luck to you on this journey, sounds like you've made the decision and the right one, to do it for YOU!!
Today was WI, and like I predicted, I'm up 1.25...so that makes my last 4 weigh in's as follows:
+1.25, -2.75, +1.25, +1.25....Do you see a pattern here?? LOL
I talked to my leader and one thing I'm going to adjust is the type of water I drink, I mainly drink Fruit 2o, and I'm going to try plan ol' water...and I've been drinking alot of the powerade that has 40calories total, per 32 oz....that's the only thing I'm doing different....also, my TOM is due this week so I'm not too discouraged, but it's been 3 months and I'm only down 12 now!!! That's still 4lbs a month, which they say is good...*sigh* I want more, I need to hit 199 soon, it's so frustrating to get so close, and then go up again.
My membership to curves came off medical hold, so I have no excuse to not go..as a matter fact, I'm going to go right now!!!
More later :)

NevisIslandTime 07-12-2006 01:37 PM

Thankfully I've been able to find this thread again - had some hybrid buton clicked on and couldn't see responses! I'm not certain I'll find you again...I sound hopeless..yet I do believe this gets confusing! Thankfully, WW isn't as difficult to follow! I've been searching for recipes - I made the diet Coke chicken last night and was pleasantly surprised! My husband had seconds before I told him how I made it! - My son thought it was great too -

AJsMommy 07-12-2006 05:02 PM

I LOVE cola chicken!! It's a staple in our house...great w/baked french fries and a veggie. Simple and everyone loves it, Even non-ww'ers :)
Hope everyones day is good, we're heading out to a parade, we're praying the rain holds off....
I feel much better after my workout btw.

buffalosister1 07-12-2006 05:51 PM

AJsMommy, you are singing my song girl! I started WW end of January (super bowl weekend actually). So, that is almost 5 and a half months. I am down 25.8 pounds since then. I too do the up and down thing. DON'T get discouraged. Keep on going to Curves. I think if I did not have my daily trip to the gym, I would have quit weight watchers long ago. They go hand in hand for me. Just think, the very slow loss is more likely to stay off! I dropped 20 pounds back when I was 22. I did it in I think a month and a half by walking and eating less than 20g of fat a day. But, I gained it back plus some very fast. I did not change my lifestyle. I am a firm believer that the slight ups and downs are very good for us. We are not "shocking our bodies." Anyway, we will just keep at it OK??!!!! :soap: I will get down now.

work out
30 min on treadmill and elliptical
30 min with trainer
earned 6 activity points

lunch
Applebees cajun talapia 6
bites of chicken strips 3

I am going to attempt to clean my kids' playroom. :dizzy: I am not in the mood, but want to refrain from hitting the sofa for Oprah. More later...Amy

Hi Everyone:

I love this string, everyone is so encouraging. I had another good day. Kept to my 24 points and still have 2pts to spend because of exercising. I exercised another 2 miles today. I took 1 minute off my 2 mile walk...walked it in 39 min. I'm trying to get to my original goal which was a 15 min. mile.

Debbie, I made the Chix Piccata tonight but varied my recipe with artichoke hearts, more sauce and spanish capers. It was great over a cup of angel hair wheat pasta. That meal was 10pts. Just perfect for the end of the day.

B Banana 2 pts
1 Egg 2 pts
1 Lite Eng. Muf. 1 pt Total 5

L 1 Low Carb Pita Pocket 1 pt
3/4 oz of swiss cheese 2 pts
2oz of ham 3 pts
1/2 C Milk 1 pt
Chips 2 pts Total 9pt

S Carrots and Cup of Tea 0 pts

D Lemon Caper Chix with Artichokes
and 1 Cup of Angel Hair Wheat Pasta 10 pt

Total Points today 24

I guess I will truly know how successful this week has been when I get on the scale on Monday a.m. It figures I have a cookout to go to this Sat. and next Sat. Anyone have any good ideas? There will be so much yummy stuff around and it is supposed to be 90 degrees!

I'll check in again tomorrow. Have a good night.

melloyan

P.S.

Paula, congrats on the 2lbs. It feels great when you look back over 1-2 months and see the weight loss.

Debbie...don't you just hate it when you have a day like that. That used to happen to me too. If you have been working out a lot, you might be adding some muscle. But I bet you see a couple of lbs come off next week. Slow and steady is the turtles course (which is the way dieting makes me feel).:flow2: Also, I check out the website www.healthydiscovery.net and I couldn't seem to get to what you recommended. Do you have to be a registered on-line user?

AJsMommy 07-12-2006 08:10 PM

Amy, Thank GOD someone else is in the same boat as me...it's very discouraging, as I said, but not enough to give up. Clothes fit me that didn't before, I am wearing shorts for the first time in 3 years, people are complimenting me left and right, so I know I'm going in the right direction. As you, I did WW in 98 and lost 43lbs in 4 months, so thinking I"m only down 13 or so, after 3 months really stinks!! lol...but as you said, this time I know it's a lifestyle change, after the last attempt, I gained it all back PLUS 30!! I'm lucky to be one of those people that carry their weight well, even at 235, my heaviest, I was an 18. When I lost it before, I got down to 170 and was a 10. My friend started the end of jan, and hit 51lbs loss today....I know it works, however, I've yo-yo'ed dieted alot since the first time, this is her first attempt at any sort of diet...she looks FANTASTIC and I am so proud of her accomplishment, she is definitely an inspiration, as is this group. Knowing people who truly understand helps.
Thank you for all your kind words, we'll get there!!!!!!!!!! Keep Curvin'!

Ahhhhh.......and the house is quiet. I just got the kids to bed and husband is out in the backyard installing outdoor speakers for our party here on the 22nd of the month. It cracks me up to see how we hustle when under the gun. We are doing more to our house than we have in the 8.5 years we have lived here. It feels really good though. I did get the playroom finished this afternoon. Everything has its place for the first time in forever. And, you can even see the floor. My husband said I should rope off the two rooms I have cleaned really well so far. He knows they won't stay that way too long. Oh well. I did manage to get the dog out for a walk again tonight. Just her and I this time. Left the kids here with husband to get jammies on. I even left the dinner mess to take care of when I got back. I won't go out after dark.

Anywho.........Here is how I ended up

snack
WW cookies n cream bar 2

dinner
4 oz swiss steak 10
salad w/dressing 1
broccoli 0
1/2 C mashed potatoes 2

That is 27 for today. With my activity points, I had 30, so I am in good shape. Pardon the pun. I do however feel fuller than I normally do on good weight loss weeks. I need to be aware of this all week.

I am skipping the gym tomorrow. I will let my kids sleep in. I may brave a tae bo video, but doubt it. I will take the kids to mom's house for a swim tomorrow afternoon. At the least, I will swim some laps there.

I feel like I could write a novel here tonight. Don't know why. Didn't talk to many girlfriends today. Perhaps that is why. Thanks for the ears. Have a great night. ------Amy

Hello Everyone:

Amy I know the renovation scene too well. We bought a very old house (like 200 year old) 18 years ago and started to restore or fix it up to new. We have 10 rooms and a huge yard which also needed work. It feels great to almost have it totally done. We are working on our front yard landscaping and have an upstairs bathroom to gut. (Yes gut). It is a yucky job. But it will be beautiful when done. I just love the satisfaction and pleasure I get from everything we and some contractors achieved.

Just wanted to post to tell you all that I did my 2 miles today in 37 minutes. My first mile I did in 18.30. I did some walking/running to bring me closer to the 15 min. mile. I started to get really hot and noticed that my son turned the a/c off. I had to slow it down the last 5 minutes which killed my time. But I will get there. I gave myself 3-4 ex. pts for that. Heavy exertion. The body kept saying "stop this it is too much." But after a shower and eating breakfast, I feel just great.

B - ww smoothie 1

Wanted to share this recipe I got from HungryGirl today.

HG's Rockin' Restaurant Spinach Dip

(1/8 recipe, approx. 3-4 Tbsp. - 70 calories, 0.5g fat, 305mg sodium, 7.5g carbs, 0.5g fiber, 2g sugars, 6.5g protein = 1 Point)

Ingredients:
4 oz. Lifetime Fat Free Monterey Jack Cheese (or another fat-free white hard cheese, like Muenster or Mozzarella)
4 tbsp. fat-free sour cream
10 tsp. Kraft Reduced Fat Parmesan Cheese
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tbsp. shallots, chopped finely
6 tbsp. fat-free mayo
1 oz. light soy milk
1 – 10 oz. pkg. chopped spinach, thawed and drained
4 oz. water chestnuts, chopped

Directions:
In a medium-sized saucepan, melt your Monterey Jack over a low flame. In a s eparate pan, saute garlic and shallots with some nonstick cooking spray. Add soy milk to melted cheese, stirring continuously. Next, add mayo, sour cream and parmesan into your cheese mixture, still stirring over low heat. Add your sauteed garlic and shallots, as well as water chestnuts. Add your well-drained, chopped spinach and mix thoroughly. Spoon your dip into a medium-sized casserole dish and bake in a preheated 325-degree oven for 20-25 minutes. Voila! Your spinach-y masterpiece is complete. You may add salt and/or pepper if desired. Serves 6-8.

I'll check in later to tell you all about the rest of my day.:dizzy:

It's not fair

So, I decided to take out some frozen over ripe bananas to make my kids banana bread for breakfast this morning. I was going to skip it and have oatmeal or something. Ah, No. That did not work. I ended up hunking off a piece for myself. I decided if I am going to lose this week, I had better figure the points and count them. UGGG!!! I thought this was VERY interesting..

1C sugar 15pts
1/2C butter 24pts
2 eggs 4pts
3 bananas 6pts
2C flour 18pts
vanilla 0
baking soda 0

That is a grand total of 67 points for the whole shabang. So, that is a whopping 7 points for 1/10 of the loaf.

It is no wonder I was overweight. You can't hardly eat anything "normal" and stay within a reasonable point range. This was a nice eye-opener for me. Shows how we have to make this a lifestyle change, and not a diet.

On that note, here is my breakfast post

banana bread 7pts
coffee black 0pts

I guess I better swim lots of laps at my mom's today.

Have a good one! ---Amy

It's just starting raining, again! It's been so wet this summer so far, I can honestly say it's not helped with the motivation to get out and walk. I did go the day before yesterday and really enjoyed the feeling afterwards. I've got to get back in the excercise swing of things - the rest is going well.
