Hey Ladies, I hope everyone is having a great day. I watched the biggest loser special and it was motivational. Both families looked absolutely great afterwards and did you see the new kitchen stuff they got!

Im debating on joining the fitness club Curves for women. I just dont know if I want to pay for a year which is about $500 or if I should just buy some DVD's to do at home along with my elliptical. Has anyone been to curves before. I love the idea of the 30mins 3 times a week, but I dont know if I would get tired of the same thing. When I was at a regular gym it took me atleast 2hrs between doing weights and cardio and I just dont have that kind of time anymore between work and the kids.

Ive been doing really great this week and I cant wait until Monday for weigh in. Im just hoping I can make it thru the weekend which is always so hard for me.

Akiss.....I guess what you have to decide is; if you buy the dvd's and workout from home....is it something you are actually going to do? We all buy the tapes etc, in hopes of working out from home, but in actual fact....I do very little at home and always make excuses and find something better to do. With a gym membership.....I make the time (as in an appt) and feel so much better getting out of the house. It took me a few months at an half hearted committment to see that I use it now almost everyday. I would also think that a free babysitting service could be helpful to you. Really think hard about this one so that you are not adding to the dust collection.

Yesterday was an awesome day for me. Something has suddenly come alive in me and I'm loving it....let me explain. Its been coming for awhile, this new me. It started in Oct when we were on holidays in Colorado, I went up the side of a mountain in a gondola (extreme fear of heights) but I psyched myself up to do...AND I DID!! This week with my inlaws visiting we went up inside the St.Louis Arch (height 630 ft) and peered out the teeny tiny windows to the ground. And last night.... I went downhill skiing for the first time!!! What a blast!!! The boys scouts sponsored a ski night for half price, from 7pm to 3 am. Night skiing...YEAH!!! We skiied for over 4 hours, and took turns taking care of 7yo ds on the bunny slopes. It didn't matter that I only did the bunny slope BUT I DID IT!!! I 'll never forget hearing my ds say..." thats my Mom, awesome!!" It was sooo thrilling. Another Mom, sat in the lodge for 5.5 hours waiting for her family to finish up. She was still waiting when we left at midnight. She couldn't believe that I would go......hehe!!! I feel so fantastic, and let me tell you.....a year ago I wouldn't have even considered it because of my weight, I would have felt content to sit out. THIS IS SUCH A BREAK THROUGH!!!! Makes me think....what is next?

cryket. good for you keep on moving I think that is sooo important...Anna you have to find what works best for you.I find I need to get out. My dh encourages me to get the membership to get out for a piece of mind. I love working out at the gym....I have tried to work out home and I am not successful. I do know that some people are better at working out in ther home... My sis does curves and loves it so far......Angel eyes you go girl that is awesome... you are right you are feeling a new energy for life.. that is so wonderful.......Well ladies I am on day 6 of sb. I feel so great. I even worked out again today.. My abs hurt like @#$%. I could not do them at all. My goal is to be able to do them 2 days in a row,soon.....Anyway I went and that is what is important.I feel like my pants are lose too. I am afraid to weigh in I may wait to weigh myself next week just to see a nice big #. Good luck everyone we are all doing well.

Default Home versus gym

I am one of those who are better working out at home.
I could never get motivated to get to the gym and would always find some excuse not to go.
The best investment I could have made was to buy a treadmill, it's in my bedroom and I have an old tv and video right beside it.
Now I stagger out of bed at 6 am and straight onto my treadmill, I watch videos of programmes from th night before and my 30 mins to an hour just flies by.
I even managed to maintain it over winter last year..no way I could have done that with the gym.
But it really is finding out what works best for you, and making the plan stick

Angel eyes that is so great! I cant even imagine what it would feel like to find yourself again... well more like I cant wait to find myself again. I loved going on the arch when I went to St Louis. It was so great to look out so far. Not only did you give in to your fear of heights, but you also made you little man proud of his mom!!!!!!!! Congratulations on the NSV!!!!

I look at my elliptical everyday im just bored with it I guess. I think Im gonna go ahead and join Curves I can always cancel and get my money refunded since Im just going to pay the year membership up front.

Ive been doing great on eating and drinking my water. I cant wait until Monday to weigh in

anna,
if the curves is anything like the one here i wouldnt be able to pay the 30.00 a week for it the one here is in some run down building and the equipment looked like it was on its last leg so i opted for workout videos and taking walks at home

angel eyes you go girl wow the arch and then skiing you are doing so great and ya know what i bet you had alot more fun participating with the family instead of sitting it out isnt it great what weight loss and feeling great bout ourselves will do for us.

well lets see been doing good staying op all week hoep it shows on tuesday actually got a few walks in outside this week and it made me feel good to be out there walking we had 68 degree weather s upposed to be in the 60's next week so hopefully it will be warm enough to take mylil man for a walk

have a great rest of the weekend girls keep drinking that water and working out you are all doing so great

WOW...GREAT JOB DJMOMMY!!!
That is awesome, well I'd say that sb is definitely working for you!!!

Angie....Is that what Curves charges? $30/wk? wow....my gym charges $30 per month. I usually go 5-6x per week, gotta get my moneys worth!!!

It was also a great day here, almost 63F. We took down all the outside Christmas decorations and the tree. It was sad to pack it all away, I just love how the house looks all decorated and sparkly!! I didn't get out for a walk today, but will do tommorow as well as gym day. Who's up for weigh ins tommorow with me? I hope the scale goes my way!!!

my lil guy and i took a walk hoping to work in an exercise video before it gets to late or after my lil guy goes to bed for the night. tomorrow is my no exercise day

Thos eare in the the first 2 weeks and after. If you start be ready for sugar detoxing. You will be really tired and maybe a headache for the 1st 3 days or more.Mine was not that bad this time around. I have a great bean soup recipe that I can share too. Anyway get as much info as you can before starting. I feel so great. Not sluggish and very happy. I just worked out again so I think I am back on track. I put a roast in the crock only with spices and good lc veggies. I hope it turns out. Have a terrific day ladies..
