Good morning everyone! Tomorrow is my last day here in Denver. Yesterday we went to the New Belgium Brewer, and it was AWESOME. Before we went into the glorious brewery we went out for a nice vegetarian cafe and I had a tempeh burger. I had never had one, it was awesome! Then I had so much beer. Like 7 different kinds of beer. It was worth it. I tracked it. I went way over for the day, but I tracked it.
Welcome Geekmadre! So glad to hear you are enjoying the program. I have tried a lot of plans over the years and WW just seems to be the one that doesn't make my life hard. The exercise will be a pain in the butt at first. Someone from 3fc gave me some advice recently-to book my workouts. Just like I wouldn't miss a meeting or an appointment. I had to talk my self into the work out like it was something I couldn't skip out on. That helped me. I put it on my google calendar.
Hi everyone! I started WW in July of 2010. I started at 184 and lost about 14 pounds on the plan. Since then my life has really changed. In April of 2011 I went through a terrible breakup. In July of 2011 I became a vegetarian. I met my fiance in December of 2011. In September of 2012 I moved to a different state with my fiance where I have no family or friends other than him, his two kids, and his mother. In October of 2012 I became a full-time stepmother (the kids moved in with us and their mother moved out of state). And I'm getting married in April.
I'm pretty much still around 185 (just this week I have seen it as high as 189 and has low as 179). I'm on a roll as far as making healthy habit changes. I quit smoking and have been smoke free for two weeks, six days, and 13 hours. This is a huge accomplishment for me. I also stopped drinking 6-8 cans of Dr. Pepper a day in December. Now I'm having 1-3 a week. Now I need to start exercising and get my healthy eating habits on track. I really want to get healthy for myself before getting pregnant.
My biggest struggles right now include coming up with dinners that my stepkids will eat (I won't cook meat and they were raised on processed chicken nuggets mostly). I know what I should be eating and I know what I am eating that I should be limiting. I'm re-joining weight watchers because I need the structure and the meetings will give me a chance to meet new friends (perhaps other stay at home moms) and keep me accountable. I'm going to go in and sign up tomorrow and have my first meeting either Tues or Thurs.
Anywho, I just wanted to introduce myself. Glad to meet you all!!
Welcome geekmadre and ade903. I am new to weight watchers and this forum, but have already found support to lose and lots of really good information about weight watchers. Hope to see you both here often.
This week I decided to make a commitment to cardio exercise. So far, so good. I have completed two 30 minute workouts this weekend. I can't run, so power walk at a fairly rapid speed. I have found that they have been relatively easy so far. Will probably continue 30 minutes for the next week, but increase the speed. Next week, I will lengthen the workout time. That seems to be the most manageable way for me to fit the cardio in.
We are going to Arizona in 2 weeks (taking the whole family - 12 in total), so I am working on managing that time away. We have some evenings out planned, but I have checked the menus and can manage to stay OP at most of the restaurants. The rest of the time, each family going will be responsible for meals. I can just make sure that there is enough veggies, etc. on hand just in case.
I am expecting some surgery in the near future, so hoping that I will be well on my way to losing most of my weight beforehand. So far, WW is working very well for me.
Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. Back to the workday world for most tomorrow.
Take care...

Welcome, geekmadre and ade903. I am new here too, this is a great group of folks. I also have to chase around little ones throughout the day (4 & 8, I guess they're not so little anymore). It is a challenge to get some "me" time. But mornings are all mine, as they both sleep until at least 9, lol!
straightahead, I did the C25K program last year. A friend of mine also did it and while we didn't train together, we did make a pact to run an official 5k event together every month. I think we missed 2 months, so 10 in one year isn't bad. They are a lot of fun and very energizing. I only have two planned this year though, one of which is this Saturday.
My practice run last weekend went very well. I did the whole 3.1 miles without stopping, and even ran another mile the next day. I'm sore but can still walk, so that's about all I can hope for, lol!
I had a fabulous meal Saturday night. Panko crusted tilapia, grilled asparagus, baked potato with plain yogurt and salsa on top. Only 7 points, so I was able to add a low fat ice cream bar for another 4 points. Yum!
Hope everyone has a great week and sees a lower number on the scale at weigh-in!
I did my WI on Saturday and lost 1.4lbs this week! Though, technically 2.4 (there was a 1lb difference between my scale and WW's scale simply because I wasn't naked there. haha!) I'm quite happy with the loss. I'm trying the Wendie plan this week just to see how it goes. Also, my activelink assessment finished and it seems I move enough during the day to barely hit my baseline, which is awesome! Now, to earn those APs!!!
This week can't go by fast enough. DH bought us tickets to Fun. this Friday night for Valentine's Day!! EEEEEEEEE - omg SO excited!
-----------
roxannestags - I'm in hospital administration. You? Yes, my DH is also skinny. Not fair! LOL
smashlers - Yes, I'm curious to see how this Wendie plan goes. I weigh daily and I'm having huge shifts, so it's interesting. I'm up 4lbs from yesterday and 2.5lbs since my weigh in. So crazy! I'm just hoping it shifts the other way. So glad you're having fun on vacation!
straightahead - I'd die without my food scale. I weigh everything because I am absolutely terrible with portion control. And ONDERLAND! I'm so jealous.
chickadeee55 - I play that whole "what if I had of stayed perfect on plan. Think about how much weight I would have lost now." game in my head, but then I remember that I would not have had the fun/experiences/memories. I'm trying to live while losing this time around and not be so crazy with it all.
geekmadre - HI! Welcome!
Daimere - Hope you saw your swoosh!!!
gooch100 - Glad to see you survived your storm and had a loss! Did you lose power?
ade903 - Welcome and congrats on SO many healthy lifestyle changes!
sweettooth56 - Checking those menus before you go is awesome! It will definitely help you be prepared and make better choices!
SoMuchFattitude: Congrats on the loss! Woo-hoo! I had to laugh at your naked comment. I have always weighed myself naked at home. First thing in the morning, after going to the potty. So it's been difficult enbracing the concept of weighing fully clothed in the evening at WW. But I figure if I wear the same clothes and weigh at the same time of day every week, it will all even out. I even had to put my home scale away so I'm not tempted to peek in between weigh-ins.
Where are you going to see Fun.? I only know a couple of their hits but they seem so energetic, I bet it will be a great show.
forkeeps - Thanks! Omg - it's SO true. lol. Naked vs. clothes is ridiculous. I would totally strip down and weigh naked at WW if they'd let me. I have no shame!
We are going to see Fun. at the Tabernacle!!! So excited!!!
SoMuchFattitude - we didn't lose power, thankfully. The lines in our neghborhood are buried so we tend to stay up and running as long as there isn't a major outage in the area.
I have an activity question for the group. I am having a hard time carving out time for a longer work out so is it a bad thing to break it up? Like 20 min in the AM and 20-30 in the PM?
I did the bike for 20 minutes this morning and was thinking I would do another 20-30 in the evening while dinner is cooking. Getting up earlier isn't really an option, I am barely able to drag my butt out of bed at 6 to get the 20 minutes in...I am soooo not a morning person.
Good morning ladies! Just wanted to stop in and wish you all a wonderful OP day. Time for me to head out for volunteering. Lol here's hoping for lots of walking today. Have a great day.
gooch100: I have heard that even if you split your exercise time into more than one session, it counts and it's effective. They even told us that at my last WW meeting.
That is what I thought but wanted to run it past some folks who have been working the WW program for longer than I have.
Now all I need to do is get an extension cord to plug in our spare little TV and a DVD player in so I can watch something versus just staring at all the boxes piled up in our basement. It was pretty boring this morning though I now have another project to add to my list. Get that area of the basement organized. :S
Hey everyone. I went to the movies with my husband yesterday and used some weekly points for some Butterfinger Bites. It was worth it, and I was still down a 1/2 pound today. We saw Warm Bodies which I thought was great. Humor, romance, and zombies. Can't go wrong!
BTW, gooch100, love your avatar! I am a big time Doctor Who fan.
Tomorrow marks 3 weeks for me on WW. I am anxious to see where I'm at.
I am back from Denver and READY to be in control again. I think I made fairly good choices, but it is hard when you are staying with people to expect them to change their eating habits.... But man, I can't wait to enjoy fresh home cooked foods this week!
I have officially signed back up. I went in for my materials this morning. I'm up 2 lbs over where I started in 2010. I weighed in at 186.6. Although I'm not on plan today, I have been tracking everything. I'm really weird. I like to track on paper and online. Not quite sure why.
Anyway, I am really impressed with how veg friendly the program seems to be. I wasn't a vegetarian last time I was in WW, so perhaps I didn't notice. It seems that each weekly (they gave me the last four weeks) mentions something about being meatless, whether it is something about Boca, or having a meatless Monday, or something else. I'm impressed. I actually looked "tested" the materials by looking up seitan (it's a wheat meat) in the pocket guide and they had it in there. That was pretty impressive.
How many of you go to meetings? I am going to one tomorrow and one on Thursday. I want to see which leader I like better.
I've been putting off exercising for so long. The past four years I used smoking as an excuse. Now I don't really have one. I'm such an all or nothing person that I'm thinking of starting with walking 3 times a week. I set myself up to fail when I think I can do 30 day shred 7 days a week plus C25K.
Smashlers - isn't it funny how much you miss your own kitchen when you are away from home? Happens to me all the time.
