poor Mel

I've been to the dentist and can't eat and I'm hungery and I can't taste anything or chew without eating my tongue

I measured my BF today with callipers - 20% methinks. It's down from the last time I took it which was ages and ages ago - sometime last year. But I'm really heavy at the moment (I think I'm retaining water from antibiotics) so I'm all confused about what I should trust - should I be happy that my callipers seem to be good, or are they not that accurate (I did it 3 times)? I do feel a smidge flabby but I haven't been working out tremendously hard this past week and the water retention stuff.

Right I'm going to attempt food, I'm feeling

Hey Mel, hope your head is better today. And if anyone at work asks about the bruises give a real cocky look and say "ya think this is bad? you should see what I did to the guys who did this!" and then saunter off!

Fru, don't bite your tongue off! There is nothing worse than having pain killers wear off only to realize you have pain from the dentist work PLUS pain from biting a hole in your tongue while numbed up.

I couldn't get out the bed this morning. I finally started moving at 6AM, did about 9 seconds on my bike and said "screw it" and then laid down to watch Romancing the Stone. I brought my workout stuff to work so I'll leave here, pick up the kid, and do my cardio and weights before I go back home. Makes for a long day when I have to do both after work, but I need to get it done.

Tiki.

Hi LWL,

Frus, Tiki - thanks for the hilarious stories!!!

Mel- Ouch!!! i hope things are going better by now. i second Tiki's advice though, it's a good one!

The flu bug is going around in my house. 4th day running, and apart from DS now also DD is home sick. I worked 4 mornings, and I'm now getting in the mood for the weekend.
My mom fell last week, and tore something in her shoulder (a tendon?) and she has surgery for it today. We are all hoping that she will recover the use of that arm, it is the right arm as well. She is 75, and stubborn, and I can tell my dad is really worried about her losing usage of the arm. We'll know at the end of the afternoon how the surgery went, so I'm very much keeping my fingers crossed!

Have a great day all,
rabbit

Considering I have been little Miss Binge (or Mrs Binge I suppose now!) since Saturday I am incredibly proud!

I was in the kitchen making my BfL Apple Pie (which really is DA BOMB!) and thinking, "I'm not really very hungry for this..." When in walks a guy with a HUGE tray of ginormous processed muffins

Nope, not for me! I carried on with my apple pie!

THEN one of the guys brings up a plate of 3 after I tell them there's muffins in the kitchen and offers them round! GAH! Nope, still none for me!

I want to walz round the room singing, "I resisted the manky muffins, I resisted the carby sugary fatty muffins, you're all going to die of a heart attack!" Well perhaps not the last bit, that would be mean!

Oh and NOW there's someone saying, "Oooooh! These are lovely, great big junks of chocolate in them... Mmmmmmm!"

No. CHOCOLATE CHIP MUFFINS ARE THE DEVIL.

Nuff said.

You can tell how proud I am of myself since I've just posted this in 3 places

Fru....and so you resisted, how wonderful!

Rabbit, hope the flu flies out of the house soon....kids can be so cranky when they're not feeling well.

Mel, ouch! Hope you are feeling better.

Lydia, how's the exercise coming? Are you feeling ok?

Ordered and just received some weight equipment called Smart Bells...weights in concave shapes with 2 handles. Cost a fortune, but I thought they would be good for my clients with arthritis, as they will give a much better grip. There were 4 dvds with them, and I'm anxious to try them out and see how effective they are. I'm a sucker for new kinds of equipment. Mel, have you anything like them at your gym?

Have been getting in my cardio, in spite of the lingering cold symptoms, but have yet to do my ub weights again this week. Hopefully tonight. I am determined to drop another pound by Sunday.

Susan(Art)- I looked at the Smartbells when you first posted the link. Nope, don't have anything like that. I've found cable exercises with big rubber handles work well for clients with arthritis in their hands or tunnel carpal syndrome. Those Smartbells are incredibly expensive! We only have a very few clients who would benefit from them. We're more into gymnastic rings, ropes, and a new TRX system.

My face doesn't look nearly as bad as I'd expected that it would today- just a little swelling. Did a back workout and some cardio ealy this morning, will do more cardio later.

Yay FRU on beating the muffin man!

I'm hungry- gotta go!

Frus - Woah kendo. I could do that and then if I ever get attacked, I'll just pull out my sword and teach them a lesson. There is actually a dojo not too far from here....

Mel - I feel for you, I've knocked noggins a few times with DH and it isn't pretty. What is funnier is if we ever sleep in a queen size bed, we end up elbowing eachother through the night because we aren't used to sleeping next to eachother.

Was busy yesterday but did sneak in an upper body workout. I need to sneak in some cardio is what I need to sneak in but I haven't been feeling very good. A mix of some bad sleep, my knee bothering me and nasal issues has just left me feeling blah.

FRU: 20% BF is impressive! Look at you. Good job resisting those muffins this afternoon too.

TIKI: How did that combined workout go this evening. Good for you if you made it with both. If not, well, there's tomorrow.

RABBIT: I am so sorry to hear about your mother. Keep us posted as to her surgery and recovery. Hopefully with some great physical therapy she will recover most usage of that right arm.

I also hope that DS and DD are getting over the flu. We had that in our house earlier in the month. It isn't pretty...

SUSANF: I'm doing great. Thanks for asking. I did cycling yesterday and elliptical with a little treadmill walking today. I also tempted fate and did a few leg curls and extensions. I'm a little sore but it's muscular. Actually, I did more damage while jumping up from the kitchen chair and laughing at my husbands office tales than I did from my workout in the gym.

Have fun with your new SmartBells equipment! I hope your clients come to love them too.

MEL: Glad to know that you are not bruised too badly. That kind of hit hurts so bad and the other guy never feels it if it's the back of the head. When it happens in the dark like that its such a shock! Almost enough to make you lose your breathe and see

NELIE: Sorry to know that your knee is bothering you. Get some rest, maybe this weekend will be better for getting that cardio done.

Okay, now I'm off to watch Memoirs of a Geisha. I enjoyed the book, lets see if the movie is as good.

Hi LWL,

Great posts again! You guys really arre the part of my day that works to keep me near the right track!

Frus - great work on the BF, AND on resisting the carb-bombs!

I have a small victory to share....I did an unassisted nose up today! Only one, and only got my nose at the height of my hands, but it is progress so i'm celebrating this. Meanway, both my DD and her friends are delighted to try this exiting game out and show me that tiny girls ( 8 - 12 yr olds) that weigh like 60 pounds, are much much better on this than their 47 yr mommies. I figure if I keep doing a pull-up every time I walk past the setup (next to my bedroom door) I'll be good for the real thing.

Have a great day all,
rabbit

Yes children! How can they be so bendy and strong at the same time?

I am nursing poor performance at kickboxing last night. I made a couple of mistakes that could potentially cost me my brown belt if I do them tomorrow. Lee had the foresight to tell me this - like I wasn't nervous enough. But I won't make mistakes tomorrow because I will be well rested and it will be the morning rather than 8pm at the end of 2 hours of training! I wish he'd never said anything because I'm extremely nervous now! And I'm worried about sleep this evening since I've had a couple of poor nights and my mum and dad are coming to stay tonight, so no doubt it will be a late one. Must be in bed by half 9 so can doze a lot.

I must be all caught up with sleeping. 3 hours yersterday afternoon and since 10 last night. I'm awake and feel good for the first morning in a long time.

A nose up??? I'm impressed. I can hold my own at half mast but I'm not going anywhere yet.

My legs are nicely tired but not as ache-y as I'd like. My shoulders are still mmm'ing from Wednesday so I guess it's a cardio day today.

Hi Frus, hi SusanB,

Thanks for the compliment, i needed some cheer-up. I'm feeling a bit down because i've been filing up my back-log of household papers, & ended up filing my divorce proceedings. Strange thing, this mind - body connection; I immediately feel down again. But the nose-up stands!!! And I did do another one when I walked into my bedroom to fetch something again!

I think I'll go shopping with DD this afternoon to lift my spirits.

Have a great day,
Rabbit

Did somebody say SHOPPING?! Ah retail therapy is so good for the spirits, until the bill arrives. I've been thinking about hitting the stores with my mom and sister this weekend. Just to get out of the house a little bit and somewhere that doesn't resemble the inside of a gym.

RABBIT: I can just see your DD and her little friend now trying to one up you with the nose up. Load up their bookbags, strap them on their shoulders and then see how high they get. (Just kidding) It's great that they see you doing this and encouraged to try them on their own. By the way, how did your mom do yesterday with the surgery?

FRU: Breathe girl. You know what to do for your test. Go in and just do it. I will be sending you positive for your test all day. Good Luck!

SUSANB: Good Morning. Nice to see you up and at em this morning. I'll be your cardio buddy today in spirit. I'm thinking it feels like an elliptical/cycling day.

Everyone else, make it a great day!

hi Lydia,

Thanks for the cheer-up, I needed that! There is something very depressing about filing household papers. The news on mom is that she woke up well from the anesthetics, but we have not heard from the surgeon about the result of the operation. My dad is at the hospital now, so I guess we'll hear all about it later.

great day likewise!
