Lunkah- I completely understand. I, too, have noticed that when I'm at a higher weight everything hurts more- my feet, my back, my butt (if I'm biking) etc. I did Disneyworld and Vegas both at higher weight and my feet were killing me from all the walking and all that extra pressure of being heavier. I have definitely noticed a difference at this lighter weight. I remember I used to say "If I ever get back to a normal weight again, I'm not going to screw it up again!" and I'm determined to make that true. I've dealt with the physical pain, the self-loathing, the looks from strangers and such. I want to enjoy my life and a huge part of that is being able to move comfortably!

Edit to add: 142.0 today.

So my weight is up to 143.0 today but I think it's a temporary bump. I was pulling 11 hour days installing decking Sunday and Monday and as a consequence eating pretty much everything I could to keep my energy up, so LOTS of carbs. Probably 3X more carbs per day than I usually eat. And I am super sore, so I definitely have DOMS and the associated water weight that goes along with it. I think it will drop down again in a couple of days. I'm not going to guilt myself over the eating, because I definitely needed the calories for all the work. I'm not used to working like that!

How did everyone's weekend go?

Smart attitude about the bump, Eagle. Gotta fuel the body. I'm sure your weight will drop back to where you left off not long after the carbs return to normal.

I haven't weighed since last Fri, which I've made my weekly weigh-in day. I kinda regret not weighing on Saturday because I felt lighter that day. It would've been encouraging seeing a new lower number on the scale. Ah well, I'm sure there'll be another chance for that. I've felt slightly heavier the past couple of days. I'm on the type of bc pill where I get my period only 4 times a year. I'm having some breakthrough bleeding though (which is normal) and feel all period bloaty, but that will likely end soon.

Down to 142.6 today. I kept my carbs at about 60g yesterday. I feel better today for that.

So my new clothes came in the mail yesterday and - drum roll- they FIT! Yay! I was nervous because my size 12's had gotten loose but I thought I might be too optimistic going from a 12 to an 8 instead of buying 10's, but all the size 8 clothes I got fit. I have about 8 lbs to go on weight loss- but I really want to start adding some muscle. I'm especially unhappy with my rear end, which just seems saggy to me. I might have to try that Brazil Butt Lift you've talked about, Lunkah!

I totally hear you on the hormone fluctuations- those are such a bummer, but by this Friday I bet you hit your all-new low.

That's awesome!!

If you do BBL, just a heads up that it includes several routines and arguably the only one you *really* need for significant results is High & Tight. It uses resistance bands and ankle weights. Really, really good. I'm not nearly as fond of 21 Day Fix's lower body workout (although it does have a few cool moves I plan to keep). I'm going to keep doing 21 Day Fix but will sub in BBL on the lower body day.

141.2 today! I was 143.0 yesterday. I'm not sure how much of the 1.8 pounds is a whoosh, and how much is bathroom related. I had one of my occasional bouts of IBS-Amnesia last night and ate way more veg than my body can handle. Paying for it today with an upset stomach. Even though I don't know my "true" weight, I'm still going to update my ticker bc it keeps me interested. My guess is I'm probably closer to 141.8...

I did the full High & Tight workout the other day for the first time in years, literally years. I think the last time I did that one was 2012'ish? I'd forgotten how tough it is at first! I was feeling it the next day, even in my abs and chest, which don't directly get worked but do from stabilizing our body during some of the exercises. And I didn't even use ankle weights or the band for the bulk of the workout! It's tougher, imo, than 21 Day Fix's lower body routine but I somehow enjoy doing it more.

How are things going with everyone?

Eagle - Is there a move-in date in sight?

Hi Lunkah! Congrats on the new low. I've bumped up a little, but I think it's mostly water weight. I'm hovering at 143.8. My energy levels have been really bad lately and so this week I went back to the doctor and got put back on HRT (hormone replacement). I'm in perimenopause and my hormones are just trashed and most afternoons I'm so tired I'm zombie. That's really been taking a toll on my workouts and such. I am hoping that my energy comes back soon so that I can feel more productive at work and at home and also so I have the energy to work out.

No move-in date yet, but it's got to be getting close. They painted the exterior of the house and the interior is nearly done. They need to put some more fill in the driveway, but I think it's really close. It'll be exciting once this is done and we can get moved.

I still haven't done high and tight, mostly for the above reasons (no energy). But I do some stuff at work when it's slow and I'm alone in the office- one legged deadlifts, squats, squat jumps, lunges, planks, pushups. I'll do one move to fatigue, then go back to work, then go do another move. I've also recently started geocaching which is getting me outside walking more.

Hope everyone else is doing great!

Lunkah, How is it going? I saw 140.6 on the scale this morning, which is a new low for me. Nice to see- and sooooo close to seeing 139. I'm really looking forward to dropping into the 130's finally- it's been 18 years since I was in the 130's. But I've noticed my motivation slipping lately, and some self-sabotage. I know I could lose the last 5 lbs this month if I really put my mind to it. I know I could. But I keep finding myself wanting things I shouldn't eat- my vices lately have been tapioca pudding (homemade) and organic ice cream. For over a year I had no added sugar in my diet, now all of a sudden I'm craving it like crazy. How are you doing? How is everyone else in the 140's?

Eagle, you're so close! Congrats! I might be even more excited about that than you are. One of us really needs to see that 3, Eagle. I'm so tired of 4.

Any ideas on what's triggering the sugar craving? I can definitely understand abstaining from added sugar. For me, my appetite is so calm without blood sugar swings, and not eating sugar pretty much makes any craving for it go entirely away. On the other hand though, some sugar is nice and nice is, well, nice to have sometimes, so I can understand if your body and mind are starting to revolt a bit against no added sugar. Are you able to eat some without wanting a lot more, or is it a gateway food to inflated calories?

I remember last summer, I was keeping my sugar grams really low for a couple of months. Then I had an ice cream sundae, and forget about it, I was craving and eating added sugar for weeks. Not a lot, but a treat on most days when before that I hadn't even wanted one. Then I lost interest in it.

My weight was up to 143.something this morning. This time, the bump is most likely sodium related. My weight loss has been so nonlinear. I'm really thankful for the long challenges people start here that allow me to see the downward trend over time. I do, however, wish my weight wouldn't be so jumpy; ah well. I don't have much control over that part. I suppose an option I have to increase my control over that though is eating a more consistent diet. I generally eat the same calories each day, give or take 100. But I frequently change the content of those calories, so I could see that impacting weight since my body responds differently to different foods. I'm not sure if I care enough about a more steady loss though to sacrifice variety.

I think it's because I've been working hard lately and figured that would justify a little ice cream. I read once that sugar affects the same pleasure center in the brain as crack or heroin, and now I believe it. Because ever since, I just crave sugar.

But like you said, sometimes it's nice to have a treat. However, I need to keep it in check so I can achieve my weight loss goal. I've been dabbling in low carb and intermittent fasting lately. It's relatively easy to eat low carb/no carb for breakfast (if I eat breakfast) and lunch. That gives me more carbs to play with at dinner. I try to keep my carbs under 150 a day max, under 100 preferably. That's the weight loss "sweet spot". And I'm super sensitive to carbs. But a half pint of ice cream (the most I'll allow myself in one sitting) is nearly 50g of carbs all by itself.

Same here! Those are the numbers I keep in mind for net carbs though, don't know if you use total carbs.

In the past, I'd aimed for around 70g net carbs when losing weight, but I just haven't been dedicated in sustaining that this year. I tried, but felt like my workouts suffered when they were that low. Maybe it was just my poor fitness level causing them to suffer though.

I don't know if it's the cooler weather where I live, or increasing the exercise I do, but my hunger's definitely gone up the past couple of weeks. I had been averaging calories in the 1200s, but now I'm avg'ing in the high 1300s. Not a big difference. With my increased exercise, I'm probably netting the same total of calories as I had been. Still, in the future I'd like to cut them back for a week or two to trigger a whoosh. I doubt I'll be in the mood for that experiment anytime soon though.

I'm back in the 141's today, from 143 yesterday.

Has your energy level picked back up?

I use total carbs, but it's because I only count carbs on the super carby stuff: rice, potatoes, yams, bananas, pears, and other "carby" foods. If it's green, I don't count the carbs. This is a method I read about on marksdailyapple and it makes it less onerous to keep track. I have my main carbs memorized so I just keep a running tally in my head. And lately since I've been experimenting more with intermittent fasting, it sort of saves most of my carbs for dinner, if not all of them. 150g of carbs is easy to hit if I eat carbs at every meal, but if I save all my carbs for dinner I usually don't even hit 100 which is nice. That's what I did yesterday and I think I was at 90 at the end of the day.

I definitely think if you're working out hard, or just working hard period that your body needs more carbs. When I'm working hard (such as when we're doing construction at the house) I don't feel guilty at all having carbs at every meal and even having carby between-meal snacks. But since my normal day has me sitting behind a desk, I try and keep my carbs to a minimum on those days.

Congrats on being back to 141!

My energy is improving. I went back on HRT and it's definitely making a difference! Thanks for asking!

Years back, I did something similar re: tracking only the super carby stuff. It was v effective. Nicely done with 90 g yesterday. I'm glad HRT is helping!
