Chubabub - you're SO close! You'll be leaving us soon! Congrats!

Looks like you're firmly in the 170s, Crow!

But with fat around the bones, that adds to the measurement, doesn't it? You can't get under the fat. If that's not the case, how does it work? (Sorry, I've just wondered about this for years - I never got how an accurate measurement of bone size could be gotten from someone who's obese).

With the elbow it is usually easier, because all you do is bend your arm at a 90 degree angle and put your pointer finger on one bone, and your thumb on the other pointy bone, then measure the gap between your fingers. Unless someone is overweight enough that they can't find the bones, that should work, in theory. You aren't measuring "around the elbow" so having a larger arm shouldn't matter, really. The wrist is probably a different story though.

And what do you mean the whoosh is over? You are still down .2 lbs since the last weigh in, right? :carrot:

Penny105 05-20-2015 12:55 PM

Yes, but the .2 lbs was from weighing myself twice, and once was 175.4, but I picked the number I liked better. ;)
It's fine - my body 'settles' into a weight a lot of times after a bigger drop in weight, and then I sit there until it decides it's time to lose again.

On another topic, I was thinking about the one time I got down to a normal weight in my life (in the 140s), I remember my tailbone had NO padding, and sitting was very uncomfortable on hard surfaces. I'm basically junk-less in my trunk, and it just gets way worse with weight loss. I don't mind, but I noticed that it's already starting for me in the 170s. Last time it wasn't an issue until like the 150s. It's not bad yet, but I get that uncomfortable pressure on my tailbone when sitting if I don't lean forward. Oh well. I'll sit on a cushion all the time if I have to if I can lose all the weight I want to drop.

Anyone else ever get the tailbone thing? I wonder if skinny people always have it and just deal with it... or if always-skinny people have developed more of a callous there for protection?

Oh yes, I had that when I was much thinner. What helps is butt muscle. I don't know if it's currently in production, but there was a beachbody set called "Brazil Butt lift" that can help add some pump to the bumps back there! Plus the host guy is hilarious. My hubby hated me sitting on his lap because of my boney butt.

175.4 today. Really looking forward to seeing 169 in the near future!

Hear, hear!

Stripes 237 05-21-2015 03:56 AM

Hey.

I'm at 179, but might weigh in at 180 again. I tend to bounce around within a few pounds all the time.

When do you say, "I'm officially in the 170s? When you hit 179? When you hit 175?

I'm afraid to post in the 170s section and then be a liar the next day. :)

Crow 05-21-2015 07:27 AM

Welcome, Stripes -- you're definitely in the 170s now even if you bounce up again for a little while. I had that exact same issue when I got here.

I'm 177.6 today, not in your league, Penny, but making steady progress.

Chubabub 05-21-2015 08:36 AM

170.6. *sigh*

MauiKai 05-21-2015 09:27 AM

172.4

Penny105 05-21-2015 11:22 AM

175.4 today.

Glad to have you, Stripes! You're in the 170s. Some bouncing is normal, and most of us have had it (myself included). I say post here!

Yay, Crow! Steady progress is great! My progress is always kind of nuts, as you'll get to see now. Watch as I bounce around this weight within a pound or so for the next week (it's part of my pattern).

Speaking of steady progress, way to go Maui! You're on the way down!

You're almost there, Chubabub! Only 0.8 lbs until you break into the 160s!

Mer du Japon 05-21-2015 02:15 PM

174.8 today. Progress!

Thank you!

179.0 today, down from 179.8

I do not want to see an 8 in that tens place again, so I'm spurred on by that.

Chubabub 05-21-2015 11:27 PM

Thanks for the encouragement, gang! I went and scoped out the 160's thread :sssh: I know, I probably jinxed myself, but I'm really hoping today was just a blip and I see that 6 tomorrow! I'll update in the morning.

Mer du Japon - great job! You're more than halfway through the 170's. Keep it up!

Crow - so glad to see the bouncing has stopped and you're on your way down!

Nonameslob - Congratulations on the size 12!!!! That's awesome! The scale definitely is not everything. Keep doing what you're doing and it will move down.

MauiKai - I continue to be blown away by the steady progress you keep making, even as you get so much closer to goal. Have you tried the smaller pants yet???

Penny - that was quite a whoosh you had! Nice job!

Stripes - Welcome! I'm really hoping I'm not here long but you can have my place ok? ;)

Mollyw, Nickilaughs - haven't heard from you guys lately. Hope things are going well!

MauiKai 05-22-2015 10:23 AM

172.2

No, chubabub I still haven't tried them. I'm still wearing my fat pants. I haven't made that psychological leap yet. If I try them and they don't fit it's going to be really hard on my emotions. Maybe when the fat pants just plain ol' fall off I'll be brave enough!

Penny105 05-22-2015 11:19 AM

174.8 today. I'm juuuusst on the other side of halfway through the 170s - hopefully I keep on moving toward the 160s!

I went shopping yesterday to get a couple key items of clothes that I need. It's depressing to be a solid size 16. I miss being a size 9/10 in the 140s... Oh well, it just drove home that I need to keep up with this because I'm not happy with where I am. :/

Mer du Japon, progress is always good! Halfway through!

I feel the same! And now I feel like that about a 7 in the tens place (I wanna see that 6!).

Maui, I get how you feel about the pants. I do that same thing. I keep my bigger pants until they're falling off me... and then I get a belt for them.

Thanks, Chubabub! I love whooshes, they're very motivating.

Chubabub 05-22-2015 12:16 PM

:dance::cb::jig::cloud9: 169.6!!!! :dance::cb::jig::cloud9:

MauiKai 05-22-2015 12:39 PM

Bye Chub, hope to see you soon!

(P.S. I tried on my next size down pants. They fit.)

Way to go, Chubabub! :congrat: Hopefully we'll join you in the 160s soon!

Speaking of the 160s, IS there a 160s thread in Weight Loss Support?

Stripes 237 05-22-2015 03:58 PM

179.8

Dammit.

Considered not eating today because I don't want to go up .2 pounds, lol. It's too hot (101 today) to walk, so I'll be walking at night.

Sixteen more pounds to being in the Healthy BMI section, which is a big goal for me.

It'll be higher tomorrow, I'm sure. The ups suck but the downs are awesome. :)

Lol, I know that feeling. Stuck sucks. Hang in there!

mollyw 05-23-2015 05:09 PM

Can I join. I started running on the treadmill at the end of December. The middle of March I tried outside. I love it but am limiting myself to an hour. I usually go 4-5 times a week. I also lift heavy at a gym but only 2-4 times a week.

My husband is a sweetie and runs slowly with me. This morning we went to the state park and ran about an hour. I am working on speed.
I love the weight loss and it is happening faster because of the consistent exercise.

Penny105 05-23-2015 09:40 PM

Stripes - I think you can delete posts. And congrats on the new weight!

Molly - of course you can join! We're glad to have you! Welcome!

Stripes 237 05-23-2015 10:05 PM

Molly - I just joined. Glad to see another newbie!

Penny - New weight is a fluke. It'll go up. I'm cracking up at your five days thing because I soo know the feeling. Fingers crossed for you that it drops tomorrow. And more than .1 pound. :)

MauiKai 05-24-2015 07:48 AM

171.8 today

Welcome new folks!

Penny105 05-24-2015 10:02 AM

174.2 today, but it's not going to stick (I'll likely be seeing 175.x tomorrow). Oh well, it'll go down eventually.

Maui, you are so close to the 160s! Great work!

We all need to get through these 170s and join Chubadub over in the 160s thread - it looks quiet over there. I think it needs us. :)

Penny - Congrats on breaking your five day stasis streak!

I think I can say goodbye to the 180s. I think. Probably, maybe. :)

Penny105 05-25-2015 09:04 AM

Ugh. 175.8 today. I just adore this bouncing around in a couple pound range. ;)

MauiKai 05-25-2015 11:16 AM

Yes, I too hate the bounce!

Stripes 237 05-25-2015 01:27 PM

177.2

I like the bounces down.

I really want out of the 170s more than I've wanted out of any other Tens Group.

MauiKai 05-27-2015 11:09 AM

171.2

Stripes 237 05-27-2015 08:54 PM

Ugh. Bounces up suck. Can I say "suck"? I guess I'll see when I hit Reply. :)
