I'm getting closer to my period, so my cravings are getting worse. It's hard to tell when I'm hungry or not through the cravings, so I just time out my meals and stick to my calories. Had some close calls last night, though. I wanted cookies, chips, lots more pizza, candy, all of it. But I chose not to.
Sadly, the cravings are with me this morning and have been since I woke up. Not that it matters much, but I still don't love the discomfort. Have to work through it, though. It didn't help that I've had no net loss this week despite being on plan 100%. Patience is the key word for weight loss, I think. Patience, and making good choices. love2b150: I have a plan for next year too, and I'm trying to stick to it like glue. Good luck on your plan! Your end of this year plan sound totally doable. Thanks for the link! I may check it out. I like these decade threads, though. It helps me mentally break down my weight loss into a less overwhelming series of goals rather than one big goal. Weightever: Congrats on completing your Whole30 plan, and on the 8 lb loss! :yay: Leopardspots: Welcome to the 170s thread! :welcome3: Great work getting here! |
Weightever, congrats on your loss and being successful on your plan! :dancer:
Welcome to the 170s leopardspots! :cheer2: Penny105, I hope your cravings are going down. It's always so hard for me too when they are strong. I tend to give in a little while still staying within my calories. Going back to the last page, I don't really have a hard time finding clothes except jeans. My thighs have always been big and my waist small (when not overweight), so it's tricky to find a perfect fit. I have found certain brands fit me better than others. |
Weightever, thanks for the link. I did something similar to this with my church. I loss 10.2lbs in 32 days. I tried doing it again and didn't have the will to stick to it. One day I'll put my foot down again and actually stick to something good for me :)
Penny, maybe that's what's wrong with me, I want a little of everything and nothing is satisfying :dizzy: LOL, I need to get it in gear for my end of the year plan to remain doable. I was up 2.6 this morning, smh. Raining  weight 177.3 |
Hi ladies! I finally made it to the 170's! So excited. Haven't seen this number in a few decades!
Weighed in at 179.8. Hoping to move through this decade as quickly as the last one. Going to be a challenge this time of year, but I think I will be able to do it. |
TOM has got me back up to 179, seems my bloating was way worse than normal. Hoping it goes away fairly fast.
As for my vitamin D, I could tell yesterday was the day before my next dose. I was slightly feeling like I did before but thankfully took my dose this morning!! |
:welcome: to the thread and :congrat: on the new decade kat :) I'm with you on the journey being a challenge this time of year, whew :)
Penny, :congrat: on the halloween challenge GO YOU :high: danieh, sorry about the bloating  You take the vitamin D once a week? Is it in pill form? Hope you get some relief from TOM soon  weigh in 176 even |
Hey all, I'm new to the forum. I was at 164, but since August 1st I've gained 13 pounds, so I'm now at 177. I'm not happy to be back here, but hopefully with support from everyone I can get back to the 160's and even the 150's!
|
:wel3fc: and to the thread zumbalover :) Hoping to move through each decade right along with you :)
|
Thanks, love2b150! This month is my birth month, anniversary and Thanksgiving, but I plan on staying on course (mostly)!
|
Oh my Kat, well enjoy, enjoy and enjoy :)
|
danieh09 - So glad you're having such success with the vitamin D! My mom has had a similar, very positive experience. With regular vitamin D supplements her levels would never increase so she had to take a special once week compound and she's like a totally new person. Yay!
katiam247 - Welcome to the 170s! Sounds like quite a month for you :) Weightever - Wow, well done! Looks like it is time for you to move on from this thread :) On that note, I'm really hopeful to get out of this thread this week! Or maybe next week. I'm so close! But my weight loss is so unpredictable these days so I won't get my hopes up. Things are going well. Slowly, but well. And that's really all I can ask for. |
Welcome to the thread katiam247 and zumbalover! :cheer2:
Nice drop today love2b150! :broc: NNS, I have my fingers crossed for you! Hopefully that next decade is just around the corner! :crossed: |
Still at the same weight I was a week ago. Don't love it, but I'm trying to cut my body some slack. I'm eating at a deficit, I'm taking walks, my period is due to start this week, and I injured (and re-injured, then strained) my shoulder this past week. Most of those things can contribute to water retention. I also had a pretty quick weight loss a couple weeks ago. This is all normal, my body is adjusting. I can't gain fat on a deficit.
Okay, I think I'm done trying to talk myself off the ledge, now. ;) Raining: Yeah, cravings can be a pain. Giving in doesn't help me, but neither does over-restricting (which I do from a fear reflex sometimes). I'm trying to avoid both. :) See, I have trouble finding jeans that fit because, proportionally, my waist is big and my thighs/hips are smaller, but my calves aren't. I usually get jeans in the juniors' section, otherwise in the women's if the waist fits I have huge empty spaces around my hips and thighs. Katiam247: Congrats on arriving to the 170s! :yay: Danieh: Yep, good old menstruation water retention. So fun. Love2b150: Thanks! I was so excited that I won a subsection of the halloween challenge! And I got a cute badge! :D Zumbalover: :welcome2: Glad you're here to join us on our way down to the 160s! NNS: Congrats on the halloween challenge! :yay: Wow, you are VERY close to being out of this decade! If you're out before me, save me a seat in the 160s thread! |
Yes, I take a once a week pill. I wish I would've read up before hand because i'm currently taking D2 through a doctor, but I've read D3 is the better form to take. It's a high dose of 50,000 iu just to get my levels up.
|
:congrat: on the halloween challenge NNS :), and you are outta here, GO YOU :high:
Thanks Raining :) Penny sorry about the injury/strain  I like my participation badge :D. That is the first of Riestrella's challenges that I joined. I love her spunkiness :) <-- is that a word?? Glad you have backed up off the ledge  danieh, I'm glad it's working for you :) |
zumbalover, Hi and welcome. Hope you see the 160's soon!
Hi NNS, Raining, and Penny and thanks :) Congrats love2b150, NNS, Penny and leopard for your challenge achievements! NNS, looks like you will be out of this decade any minute! danieh09, TOM bloating and water retention will surely drop off quickly. Penny, my body likes to stay at the same weight longer than I want it to, also. But like you said, you know you are on plan and it's gotta go sometime! Hope your shoulder feels better soon! |
thanks Kat :)
Nice whoosh today, I know it's just water weight but it sure makes me smile :D ... weigh in 172.1 ... hope I can keep this going |
Thanks mrsmillions :wel3fc: and to the thread but you definitely belong in the http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/weig...-out-160s.html thread. I hope to join you there some time this month :) I too gain and lose the same pounds over and over :) Hope you break pass those numbers soon :crossed:
|
Yay love2b150 :woohoo: it may just be water weight but seeing that big drop is always such a good feeling! You are so close to going to the next decade! :cheer2:
I am finding myself struggling a little to get motivated to exercise. I know it's because it is getting so cold out. I got in a good workout last night but then spent the rest of the night reading on the couch and not much of anything else. |
Thanks Raining :), Pat yourself on the back :cheer: because at least you spent the rest of the night reading on the couch and not in the pantry/cupboards after a good workout :high: LOL it is a good feeling to see that drop. You are close to the next decade also. Hope we move over soon :crossed:
|
Lol so true, I didn't think of that way!
|
:) ... I know if it were me ... hand would be to mouth as eye is to book ;) You did good! :)

Anyone have advice for how to get weight loss moving again? I've seriously been at 173.x for 10 days. I counted. I'm back on the ledge! (Not of giving up, but of being frustrated and ready to try something).
Some info. I track EVERYTHING I eat (I measure it all). I eat around 1400 calories (which is definitely below my maintenance calories). I walk 2 miles about 3x a week (I do not factor this into calories - it's too insignificant and I do it for health, not weight loss). I haven't had takeout or anything extra salty. I haven't snuck bites, tastes, or licks of anything in weeks. I drink plenty of water (3-4 liters a day, usually). I get plenty of sleep (7-8 hrs every night). Any insights? |
Penny, I personally don't think 10 days is long enough to make any changes. I say wait 4-6 weeks, which I know can be frustrating if you're used to losing regularly, but if you start playing around with things too soon and too frequently, you can really stress your body out!
The only thing I might suggest you do is make sure you're actually hitting those 1400 calories. Are you actually weighing/measuring everything or just eyeballing? If you really are hitting 1400 calories and not above then I'd really advise to just give it time. Sorry :( The good news is I'll probably still be trying to get out of the 170s by the time your weight loss starts moving again :P |
Penny, I'd say try calorie cycling. It has worked for me in the past though the calories on most days were hard for me to meet. Some where to low and others too high but it did get the scale moving. Google it. Hope your scale moves soon.
I dropped another pound this morning. I'm happy with myself. A co-worker bought me a sausage biscuit from Bojangles. I love love love their biscuits but I didn't eat it. I ate the sausage and wrapped the biscuit for one of the kids to eat :) |
Penny, I think 10 days is normal to stall, although frustrating I know! You could add in a touch more exercise, maybe an extra walk or exercise session a week would get the scale moving. You could just be retaining water too.
|
Penny Maybe try Intermittent fasting, if you aren't already? I'm going to try an 18/6 window myself. Hope you figure something out!
|
Day 11 in 173.x today. No sign of land...
Thanks for the advice, guys! I think I'll try a few things and see if something kicks it loose again. Honestly, I've never seen this steady of a stall on myself. Maybe I just lose weight differently now? We'll see if this is a pattern. If it's a recognizable pattern (long stall, big whoosh, repeat) I'd probably be able to live with it in the long run. We'll see. Thanks for the support! NNS: I've heard people say wait at least a month, but I don't know that I'd have the patience for that. I'm approaching 2 weeks at a stall and it's making me nuts. Not that I'll give up, but I might fiddle around with some stuff. I think I'd be less frustrated if I was actually going over my calories and knew it. But I have been on plan to a T for like the last month. Also, I don't eyeball unless it's like a handful of lettuce (then I just say 5 calories). Everything else gets measured. Love2b: I might try calorie cycling. I've tried it in the past, but it doesn't work well for me long term. Maybe just for a week or something. Congrats on dropping another pound, btw! And resisting the sausage breakfast sandwich! :D Raining: It's 11 days now. ;) I hear that's a normal time to stall, but I don't know that I can sit and wait for another 2-4 weeks. Or, at least not without trying other things. Danieh: I think I actually do IF, but not on purpose. I don't eat after ~7:00pm, or before ~11am (but that's mostly because I don't get hungry early). |
Thanks Penny :), I can only calorie cycle for a week or so. It's harder than it sounds in my opinion but it has worked for me. I like you would be a bit frustrated after two weeks of no hiccups in my plan so that is totally understandable. The only other thing is carbs. They typically get me every time. When I cut them dramatically I see great results. Not to mention I'm diabetic so it's a win win overall for me. I use to stall at every decade so I know how it is and after 3-4 days at the same weight I'm ready to scream :yikes: :dizzy:  You're doing good
With my low carb eating I have had another good drop of 1.5lbs. I don't know how long this will last but I am loving the movement on the scale especially since I've done so poorly since May, actually all year with going back and forth to the same numbers. Hoping to keep this up. |
Hi ladies!
I have been fighting the scale to hit under 180 again the past couple of days. Finally hit 179.6 this morning. My problem is trying to get enough calories in per day. I sort of save my major calories for dinnertime, but after I eat dinner and am satisfied, later I really don't care to eat any more and I still have calories left. I am following South Beach, which you don't need to count calories, but I still enter my food into MFP to track and that's when I see I did not eat enough. About 5 days a week I barely hit 1000, which I know is not good, but yesterday I was able to get in 1300 and got a drop. Next week will be different because we are going camping in our trailer and I plan to eat out a couple of nights (especially my birthday at a seafood buffet - will get the broiled and boiled items, but butter will be my downfall). Also, there is a Chinese buffet we like to go to, but will stick to Beachy stuff, just a lot of sodium in the dishes more likely. Congrats, love2b150, on your weight loss! danieh09, hope you have good luck with IF! Penny, hope the scale moves soon for you. I would try the calorie cycling. Seems to work for me. lol NNS, |
Congrats love2b150 on your new decade, I hope to be following you soon to the new thread! :cheer3:
|
Oops Raining, forgot to say hi
I never have been good at doing personals. My scroll finger goes faster than my brain! |
Thanks Kat :), I use MFP to track what I eat also. It amazes me how some days you feel like you've over ate only to find that you didn't eat enough. I like to eat heaviest early in the day so that I'm not going to bed with a full tummy. I work crazy hours and don't typically get enough sleep/rest which isn't good for weigh loss I know. We moved from Stafford. I sure miss being able to have fresh seafood readily available at anytime :) enjoy :) Happy early Birthday :hb:
Thanks Raining :) I hope you move over there soon also ... it's lonely over on the 160's thread so I'll keep checking in here. I'm actually up .2 today due to lack of sleep/rest and a hot dog just before bed (no bread or condiments) :) Hoping for a better weigh in tomorrow :crossed: |
So I've tried IF for a few days and have managed to gain weight. I am thinking it's the rush of carbs entering my body so fast. I get super bloated after my first meal. So I am going to attempt to go back to low carb and maintain IF. Wish me luck!
|
I'm going to a wedding for a friend next week. It's the first one in AGES where I'm not in the wedding, so I'm kind of looking forward to that. I have no idea what the food will be, but as long as I make smart choices, it shouldn't be too bad.
I'm hoping they have an open bar. I'm a lightweight, but I like to try new things when it's free. :D Although alcohol means I'll have to be careful - it makes me munchy sometimes and lowers my inhibitions toward food. I'll just be aware of it and, again, make smart choices. Raining: You're getting so close to the 160s! Katiam: I'm finding that my eating goes in cycles. Sometimes I'm starving at eat at the tippy top of my calories, and other times I'm less hungry so I let myself eat less. But I agree that making sure you eat enough on a regular basis is very important. Have a great time on your trip! And happy almost-birthday! :yay: Love2b: Congrats on reaching the 160s! Save us all spots over there! It'll get busier when we're all there with you. :) Danieh: Good luck with your IF and low carb plan! |
Thanks, love2b and Penny, for the early bday wishes :).
love2b - we will be camping in Williamsburg and eating at Capt. George's. Don't know if you are familiar with the restaurant, but have you been to the outlets in Williamsburg? Penny - I learned a little secret when out drinking with friends. To cut down on alcohol consumption, alternate drinking soda/water with your mixed drinks. You still appear being sociable but will be cutting down the amount of spirits. danieh - when I had finished the introductory part of South Beach, I tried adding back too many good grain servings in a day and stalled. I found adding one serving of a good grain/day for a week helped moved the scale again. I am up to 2-3 servings/day, now. Beans and legumes are allowed and considered more of protein and not really a carb on SBD. |
Penny have fun at the wedding, how fun! :hat:
danieh09, good luck with your plan. The bloat and gain might just be water weight, maybe drinking a little extra water will help with the bloat. :cheer3: Katiam247, have fun camping and hope you have a very happy birthday! :woo: I have had such a nice weekend, nothing really going on. It's been a nice change as the last couple months have been crazy busy. |
danieh carbs bloat me also :(. I think you'll be fine after you switch back :)
thanks Penny :) I'm back to 170 even today. I was a tad bit munchy yesterday again before bed. I ate Beanitos but still the salt got me I'm sure :) But I'm excited about us all going over ... We'll all be happy :) I love weddings. I haven't been to one since my daughter got married 3 years ago, wow. Kat, I haven't been to Williamsburg in years. I think my youngest was a toddler :). No I haven't been to Captain George's but I believe there use to be one in the Massaponex/Frederickburg area. I always wanted to go but with 5 children buffet's with seafood are quite pricey :) Don't think I've gone to the outlets in Williamsburg either. We had Potomac Mills in Woodbridge and I liked driving to Franklin Mills in Philly even better (no tax). You're gonna have a ball, enjoy :) Raining glad you had a nice weekend :) |
Thanks, Raining! I am planning on it for sure. It will be the last of camping for us this year. I plan on hitting a few outlet stores and buy a few things in smaller sizes. So excited. DH is getting tired of my "clown pants". Lol
love2b, I have been to Potomac Mills. I liked it better before they got all the high falootin' stores in. I hear what you mean about the price of seafood buffets, but it's just DH and me.....and it's for my birthday. :D |
I had a random weekend of eating. Yesterday ate a lot of fruit and meat and then snacked on some pretzels. Woke up this morning to a 4 pound loss. I think it's safe to say most, if not all, of my bloat is gone!
