Kempy, I just read your last message. We were posting at the same time. lol

Here's a suggestion regarding the exercise situation.

1. When he's hunting and you're home alone, that's a perfect time to exercise.

2. When he's home, after dinner both of you go for a walk.

Anyone else have suggestions for Kempy?

Ebe, that Chex Mix will absolutely reach out and grab you if you don't watch out. It is one of the great demons in my life. I can control the sweets, but the salty crunchy stuff can cause me much trouble.

Kempy, just stick your exercise in whenever and wherever you can. Park at the far end of the parking lot at the grocery store, that sort of stuff. Turn on music and dance while vacuuming. etc. etc.

I walked at the mall this morning. Good for me.

I did see my doctor Monday, blood work was done, the results show that I am still in control of my diabetes and my bp. All good. The weight has remained off. All is well. Let's all just keep on trucking on through life a day at a time.

ah jojo you have nice messages. you seem like a happy person, hope the holidays went nicely for you and the new year is off to an auspicious beginning.
and chex mix is terribly evil! i don't even like chips but something about chex mix....ah anyway

dena i'm glad you had fun on new years.....are you both good at dancing? my boyfriend and i took some lessons a few years ago but he found it sort of traumatic and its been hard to get him to do it in public.

kempy baby where you at?
maybe you feel too much pressure regarding exercise...you could always just take everything down a few notches and do yoga tapes at home....or just go to the gym and only walk on the treadmill at a nice slow pace. you did say you tended to get anxious about things
although i say that and i don't know what your usual routine is except 15 minutes on 4 machines and you said you lift weights yeah? i love hearing what other people do for exercise its motivational lol

speaking of exercise, today i was so happy....i'd been trying to get up to 40 minutes of solid running and i did it! yay me
4 miles in 40 minutes woot plus one mile of walking to warm up and then 20 minutes on the bike.
happy happy happy
its a nice feeling when you accomplish something
so lets see my goals for the rest of the night are
1. stay away from chex mix and all other snacky traps
2. try not to eat more than a banana and popsicle close to bedtime
3. drink water and start drinking tea when feel like boredom eating

and for tomorrow
1. water!
2. lots of protein and fruits and veggies
3. exercise

I am here I just didn't post in the new thread. My last one was in the #2 thread.

I think the bad thing with exercise for me is that I work in the gym. I am thankful that most of our members are older and they are just ther to get healthy so they don't give me to hard of a time about the working out thing. My problem is that I know what I need to do, but getting myself to do it is really hard. I do thank you guys for caring enough to give me some pointers.

Default Daily goals

Dana, thank you for this thread. Today is a good day for me to set goals because my schedule has been disrupted. I usually exercise at around 9 but school for the kids is delayed today so I will have to do it later, so here goes:

3 low fat meals today (for me this is a challenge since I snack all day!)

2 snacks (1 fruit and 1 yogurt)

an hour of exercise

put chocolate chips left over from baking in the freezer in the back and don't even go there!

I will also come here to post daily. Good luck to all and thank you all!

Good Morning, Everyone!

My goals:
1. Eat right - day #2
2. Exercise-walk after breakfast; gym in the afternoon
3. Water - At least 8 glasses.
4. Pamper-gotta do my nails today!
5. Have a fun day!

Hi Musicgal, welcome to our group! We're looking forward to seeing you here often. Great goals. Come here whenever you need to talk.

Kempy, did you get in any exercise yesterday or today? We're rooting for ya. Remember, you're muscle gal!

Ebe, excellent exercise program! About the dancing, my hubby and I just get out there and do it. I just want to have fun. lol Music gets me going.

Jojo, I like to walk in the mall, too. I get distracted by all the people and window displays that I forget I'm exercising. lol

Ceejay, good job with the 60 minute of exercise! I always feel better when I exercise, too. I not only feel like I accomplished something, but I actually feel happier.

Have a great day, everyone!
Happy FRIDAY!!
Luv, D

Hi everyone
I've met my goals for today-

Dena I'm with you I have set a goal of 6 weeks but I need to take it one day at a time. That's why I'm here.

JoJo-glad everything was okay at the doc's office.

musicgal-welcome to the group. What kind of music do you like?
Any of it goes for me except opera and if I could understand the
language I'd probably like it.

Kempy-Hope your hubby is back safe from his hunting trip.
Remember to do that exercise--I was the only woman in the weight room today but I just did my own thing. I've pledged 280 minutes for the next 7 days. I can do it.--220 left to go

ebe--staying away from snacky food is a challenge for me also.
That's what I binge on if it is in the house.

Let's do it ladies

This is what it takes - living life one day at a time.

Drink that water, every day.
Munch those veggies, every day.
Exercise, whether you want to or not, every day.
Keep a positive mind-set, every day and every day.

This is what it takes to succeed in weight loss, or in life.

Wink

Hi all,

Can I join your thread???

You sound like a great upbeat group!

I have been sliding on the healthy eating since the fall.

Over christmas I can feel a few extra pounds again. I have 80 -90 lbs to lose. I have done it a couple of times but it always finds me again. This time I like your attitude 1 day a t a time. I work 12 hour shifts so it is very hard to be motivated and exercise. Lord knows I have all the equipment so there is really no excuse.
I always find a reason to put it off but it's now time to take control.

I am in the middle of organizing a 25th Wedding anniversary at my place for next weekend so this week is a little hairy but should keep me too busy to nibble I hope. Just get this over with and then look out. lol

Have a great day all

Hey guys! I didn't start off very good today. I couldn't workout b/c I am having to watch my brothers dogs and his cat while he is on his honeymoon. I didn't have time to get the exercise in this morning. My evening is filled too. I am having my hair colored and I usually don't get home until 7. I am not going to freak out though, I will be very careful with what I put into my mouth. I did good so far. BRK - grapefruit juice (no sugar) and grits, Lunch - roast beef subway w/ wow doritos. I am going to have a smoothie and a luna bar for dinner. I don't want top eat to late and I am thinking that this will keep me filled up. At least i am going to keep my fingers crossed on that one.

Is everyone keeping up with their goals for today? Afterall this is the first Monday of the new year and we all wnat to start it off right, don't we? (Don't follow my lead, I am a bad example today)

I'm doing OK in the eating department today, at least so far. Saying this will probably keep me honest for the remaining hours. I hope so.

Exercise was a bit skimpy this morning since I had a full morning doing other things. We can always find excuses for what we really don't want to do, can't we? And I absolutely hate to exercise.

That is why this taking things a day at a time is so good, that is the only way I am going to succeed at all this, if I just take it slow and steady.

Good luck, everyone.

'twas the month after christmas and all through the house,
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnogg I'd taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on my scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store-less a walk than a lumber,
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared.
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared.
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese.
And the way I'd never said; 'No thank you, please'.
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt,
And prepared once again to battle with dirt-
I said to myself, as only I can,
'You can not spend the winter disguised as a man!'
so-away with the last of the sour cream dip.
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip!
Every last bit of food that i like must be banished,
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie, not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or even corn bread or pie.
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore.
But isn't that what january is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot....
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!
