How I got to Wyoming? By a roundabout way, that's for sure.

My DH and I started in a small town in SE Kansas. Went to college in Missouri, got married. He worked for railroads - Santa Fe, Missouri Pacific, and Kansas City Southern. We lived in a little house trailer and went from job to job to job through Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. Then he got another job with a crude oil pipeline which took us back to Missouri, then to Nebraska and finally to Wyoming in 1959. Forty-three years later, we are still here. We are retired now, this is our home.

Our vacations took us traveling through much of the US, so many places you mention, I have been there at some time in my life. When we got the kids raised, we were able to do some overseas traveling, to many places that I wouldn't want to go to now.

My DH and I will be celebrating our 56th wedding anniversary next week. He is a "keeper" and we have had a good life.

Let's all keep smiling -

Default so how was your thursday??

Well, it's late, so I am going to make this quick...

Kempy, don't they call that stuff "bait" where we come from? I'm not a sushi fan either... I don't like fish that tastes, well, fishy...if you know what I mean. But give me a piece of tilapia or amberjack with a nice meuniere sauce and we're in business!

Do y'all ever NOT eat something because you have no idea how to count the calories in it?? I picked up rotisserie chicken for dinner...with boiled potatoes and beans...and they make this soup that is soooo tasty, but it's not a typical recipe and I have no idea how to count it in FitDay. I mean it's got yucca root in it or some such. It's a colombian recipe. Any idea how many calories in yucca root??

I did my walk tonight...despite the dark and COLD!! Temps in the 30's, but windchills are much much lower. I couldn't even walk around the block cuz I'd turn the corner and the wind would blast...I ended up walking up and down the sidewalk in front of my house over and over Walked for about 30 mins, 1.7 miles. Got a blister on my heel, dadgumit.

I'd better go journal. G'night all!

Happy Friday, Everyone!

I'm so proud of all of us. We're really working at being healthy.

Jo Jo, thank you for telling us about your wonderful journey to Wyoming. It seemed so romantic... like something out of a movie. And now you're celebrating 56 years together. That is totally awesome!

Jane, you're an inspiration walking out there in the bitter cold. You definitely will reach your goal! I tried to look up yucca root on another web site, but without success. Just wing it. I'm sure it doesn't have many calories.

Well, I'm just so glad it's Friday. I think I'm going to take a brisk walk this morning. The sun's shining and all the little animals are just starting their day. I live in Southern CA, just north of LA. We're really having nice weather lately and I want to enjoy every bit of it. They say rain will come in ten days, so I better get out there. Yesterday I was wearing shorts. The sun felt so great.

Well, I hear all my birdie friends (scrub jays) waking up outside, so it's time for me to go and feed them peanuts. They are birds in the wild, but they act like their not. They visit me every day. So cute.

Have a great weekend!

Luv, Dena

Jane I was able to find it at CalorieKing:
1 Cup
120 cals
.2g fat
27g carbs
3.2g protein
2.4g fiber

I hope that helps. When I can't find what I need (a certain combo) in fitday I have to break it completely apart and record the individual ingre.

Jo that is truely a movie. Maybe you should get Dena to write it for you. lol

Dena I envy you wearing shorts. I wish it was warm enough here. It will be 21 tonight. I don't think that shorts will be my clothing of choice tonight.

I have another pound of lose to record. I am down a total of 7.5 lbs.

The veggie rolls were awesome. I think I am going to have them for lunch today. The place is right around the corner from here. They are really low in cals too. I can have 6 med. rolls for under 200 cals. After all it is only rice, seaweed and veggies. Hubby had some rolls were the fish was cooked but I didn't try them.

hey ladies....
yesterday was bad eating day for me. lime chips and 2 margaritas with dinner...yummmm but well what can you do i guess, these things happen i've been having all kinds of cravings lately and usually i don't give in to them....i'm completely dying for some cake for some reason. and its not like i'm going hungry because i eat a lot for sure....the other night i had a dream that i was at a wedding and was eating TONS of food, i woke up feeling stuffed and fat and then remembered that it was just a dream.....sheesh weird. i know i'll be dreaming of cake soon....thats always strange lmao...
at the gym yesterday i was completely wiped. Did upper body and then eeked out 30 minutes on the treadmill and i was done.
i can't decide if i should take today off or not....i think probably not but i'll see where my energy is
i wish my gym offered a yoga class at night....all of them are early in the morning and i stay up too late every night lately.....ugh.

jane i cannot believe you will brave 30 degree temps for walking. hats off to you.

jo that does sound very romantic like dena said. very interesting

kempy i love sushi....i could eat it everyday. mmmmmmmmmm! miso soup and edamame....and seaweed salad and yellowtail and salmon.....listing everything i eat at the quickie sushi place near my house. i went to the most amazing sushi place in the city a month or so ago....it was very authentic and beautiful....only japanese people were there, maybe it was a slow night or something i really want to go back.
but they had so many different sakes you could do tastings and then order a big thing of it....ah i wish i could describe it better but the glasses and pitchers and everything were just amazing! and the food was great!!!!! the best sushi and sashimi i had ever had...i had monk fish liver for the first time with a ginger horse-radish kind of sauce....mmmmm yummmm
my boyfriend hated it but i was in heaven. we went with this lady his father does business with and she kept telling him to eat more and have the last piece etc....and he would just say ah no thanks... i bet sheyna (me) wants it....lol

sorry babbling.....but if you ever are in nyc look up a restaurant called sake guru if you want good japanese food......theres tons of others of course but its a nice place.

dena.....shorts? you're so lucky! i have got to move. california is beautiful.....my mom had a house in northern california in el dorado county, it was absolutely the most beautiful area...there was wild rosemary growing all around the house and it smelled so amazing....i was so annoyed that she sold that house.....
enjoy the weather and the birdies sounds so nice, i can almost picture it

Okay, hooray for me! My daughter made me rush home, so I decided I could get out and walk before it was completely dark...but it was tres chilly! I bundled up in a turtleneck, sweatshirt, fleece jacket, and vest and headwear....and then ended up taking off the vest after 1 block. Did my 2 miles in about 35 minutes.

Logged my calories in fitday again today. I see that I am going to have to take a calcium supplement...I can't ever get enuf calcium I think it's because I'm not a big fan of ff milk, and it seems like every thing else with calcium has too many calories for my calorie budget.

Dena, we were in Ventura over the xmas holidays visiting my brother and family. I lived in Hermosa Beach when I was young, too. First time I've been back in 30 years--it was cool. Our house on the beach was no longer there, but the strand and all looked just the same...

Congrats on the loss, Kempy! And thanks for the details on yucca root!

What's up with the rest of you? Anything planned for the weekend?

Happy Saturday!!

Well, yesterday I had another strong workout at the gym, 40 minutes on the treadmill, 20 on the stationary bike and 30 minutes of weight training, so I think I'll stick to walking today. My body really needs a rest. Ebe, you're body tells you when you're working it too hard, doesn't it? I was wiped yesterday, but kept going.

It's another beautiful day in the neighborhood. lol So I think hubby and I are going to walk on the beach. Can't wait to get out in the sunshine.

KEMPY, Congratulations on your weightloss of 7.5. That is so great!! What a super way to start the new year. Keep up the good work. I'm down another pound, too. So I'm pretty happy. Those veggie rolls sound good, by the way.

Ebe, I know what you mean about having some variety when your body needs it. I'm just walking in the sunshine today. But how about getting a yoga video or some other video for evening hours. I check out my library occasionally and find interesting videoes. I have a yoga class at my gym, but I don't really like the guy teaching it. So there you go, there' always something. lol

Jane, yeah, Ventura is really growing. Really nice. I go to the mall there all the time. I practically know all the malls here in So. CA. lol Congrats on doing 2 miles in the freezing cold!! If it's any consolation, I read it's good for our bodies to be outside and get fresh air. (Just trying to make it all worthwhile.)

Okay, everybody, let's keep at it. Summer will be here before you know it and it we all have to look great in those thongs.

Luv, D

yo wassup
my legs are......something.
just finished a lower body workout and 45 minutes on bike, waah i thought i was going to fall over after i was done. i still might.....
i wanted to do some running and stairmaster but after doing legs realized that holding myself up was not going to work out very well....

man...i read about these women squatting like 100, 200...300!! pounds and it completely blew me away.....mostly because i found i am doing like 50 lbs...oof and just that makes me want to throw up and fall on the floor. maybe i'm exaggerating but still, its hard to have the right perspective when you find you're so weak.....
i don't know if i'm making any sense lol

anyway.....
dena....work it i'm sooooooo very jealous of you, did i mention that? lol i'd kill to be doing anything outside other than scurrying to and from heated indoor places....
i have to clean my room so i can do yoga dvds....atm it appears a tornado has swept through here....

jane...way to go on the walking making good time too!

take it easy ladies
tomorrow upper body and big cardio!!!

*ps hefty i love your sig that makes me smile when i see it.....cute

well, I pulled a muscle in my back yesterday. First thing in the morning, too, so it kinda put the cabash on the entire weekend. My daughter and I had to go to the school yesterday to work on the softball field. I ended up picking up trash on the field...not a great idea with a sore back. Advil helped, as did a warm shower. I'm icing it down today, and I intend to take it slow. I'm trying to decide if I want to chance a slow walk around the block.

So, my plans for the day involve trying to get comfy on the couch, with either a good book or a good movie. I really need to get to the grocery store, but I think we'll have to "make do" for the day. Since I have the day off tomorrow, we should be able to get by... My only worry is that I don't have a lot of "healthy" food around and I'm afraid I'll resort to old snacking habits...

Hope everyone has a lovely sunday!

Just checking in to say I had a great weekend regarding eating and exercising. I counted every morsel on fitday. Plus my hubby and I walked for two hours on Saturday and two on Sunday. The weather was great and the beach was beautiful. I really feel healthy tonite. (Ebe, please don't be jealous.)

Jane, I'm so sorry about your back. I hope you managed to get comfortable and enjoyed a good movie.

Ebe, Where did you read about these women squatting 100, 200, etc.? Wow. But I'm so impressed with your workout routine! You're doing an excellent job. And you keep me motivated. Thank you!

My hubby is doing some overtime at his job tonite, so I'm going to get comfy and watch the Golden Globes. Can't wait. I love award shows.

Good nite, everyone.

D

Okay, here we are at the beginning of another new week. Are we ready to lose another pound or at least work off the excess flab? I sure am.

My goals are to compute what I eat into fitday, exercise and drink my water.

Here's to all of us!

Luv D

Default brand new week...

starting off with a holiday is not a bad thing, you know? I hope I can cross several "to-do's" off my list. Piles and piles of laundry, insurance for DD's new car, oil change for other DD's new car, wash for my car....I know there's more on the list, now where did I put that list...

My goals are similar to yours, Dena. Log food and exercise in Fitday, eat wisely (which means eating my vegetables!!), and do some form of exercise every day. Also plan to limit my diet coke intake to no more than 3 a day (try for 2) and drink at least 4 8oz glasses of water besides. I need to figure out a way to get more calcium. I'm not big on drinking milk, but maybe I can try drinking a glass of ff mile with lunch and dinner.

My back is better. I was able to walk fairly comfortably yesterday. The hardest thing is sitting and rising. I'm rather afraid of trying a Curves workout while it's still sore, so I think I'll stick to walking for today and resume at Curves tomorrow.

Good day, everyone!
