  • Good Monday ladies.

Ebe I am one of those woman that can squat that much. I had to work up to it but I can do it now.

Jane did you get any good books in or a good movie? Joe and I watched Spiderman Friday night and I really liked it.

Jo when is the big celebration this week?

I had a very quiet Sunday. Joe and I went out with some friends had and had a little to much fun again. You would think that we would learn by now. We spend all day yesterday on the sofa. Both of us felt like crapola. I ate terribly all weeknd but I only gained a pound back. I can tell that I didn't eat clean. My insides just feel yucky.

Dena you are doing great. I wish I would have gotten out and walked for 4 hours this weekend.
  • ooo kempy is hardcore
i cant imagine! come to new york and teach me! lol
i want to be strong and kick ***! rawr!
sounds like you had a good time nothing wrong with that! i'm sure that the pound you gained is only water.

jane i'm glad that your back is better. maybe it was just a little sore from over exertion? in any case rest is definately good they say, guess you'll see how you feel when you go to curves tomorrow. how do you like that program? i've read a few people on this board talking about it and i just now saw a commercial.....

    and dena is doing great
i can't wait until its warm here! being outside and enjoying yourself is what its all about. i don't know what It is....but as long as you have fun AND its good for you....how can you go wrong? (lucky!) lol
there is this one website i like a lot, well 2 really.....1 i've seen linked to dozens of times on this message board....it really is good
    http://www.stumptuous.com/weights.html

and another one i like is http://www.femalemuscle.com/
this is my absolute favorite! talk about inspiring! even if your goals aren't being a competitive bodybuilder, these websites just give you a little push towards wanting to make that extra effort

theres links in there somewhere to what real women lift. i've been having wine craving.....sooo tonight i gave in otherwise i would have found the links but i'm feeling a mite lazy atm.

i tried to post earlier, typical longwinded one but then got error when i hit submit and the whole thing was lost. so....my goals for today were
exercise and eat well and drink lots of water.

i'm a little behind on the water but i had a great exercise day. made my triumphant return to the treadmill and jogged 4 miles. then almost 20 minutes on the stairmaster and then 20 minutes on the bike. i have to start doing an ab routine before everything else because lately i've been doing it before stretching and by that point i'm definately ready to say screw this.....

my poor boyfriend, hes really sick of hearing me talk about diet and exercise stuff...everytime i start to tell him he gets this glazed look in his eyes..... lol, so thanks for letting me getting some of it out. i was feeling a little burnt out on exercise but, really there is something about running that just gives you the best feeling...or maybe its just me i dont know.....but those people that do marathons must be getting something out of it!
  • Ebe, I know how you feel... I just posted a long message and lost the whole thing! Anyhoo, thanks so much for those web sites. How inspirational! I'd probably look like a wimp to those ladies, since I use the squat press machine. And I thought I was doing okay.

Jane, so glad your back is getting better. Hope you got to enjoy your day off... at least got some of the things off your list. How about taking a calcium supplement?

Kempy, forget it and move on. At least you only gained a lb. Whenever I overdo it, I'm up 5 in a hurry. I'm still trying to lose 3 from Christmas!

Last nite my hubby told me I'm looking better. Must be the machines.

Well, I've got like a billion things to get done today.

    Take care,

    D
  • Wow have I been going all day. I have only had breif moments to look at the site today. My morning worker isn't at work right now so i am having to take care of everything that she usually does. I was so energetic this morning I couldn't wait to get home so I could workout. I had a long list of things to do but I tired myself out. Now that I am home all I want to do is take a shower. I have already eaten dinner so I don't think there will be any exercising tonight. Oh well, isn't that what this thread is about, one day at a time? Tomorrow is another day.

I'll check back with you guys in the morning.
  • Today so feels like a Monday...

My back is better today! The toughest thing was sitting in my office chair all day. But I took a chance on a Curves workout, and it really was all right. The only time I got a twinge was at the end when I was stretching. I even did a round on the elliptical trainer! Food was okay...calories are still under 1500 for the day so I guess I can have a snack I still need to work on the calcium...I'm way under for the day. Note to self: buy Total cereal next time--it has 100% RDA of calcium

Kempy and ebe, y'all are a true inspiration! They say the only way to truly change your body shape is to lift weights. ebe, the Curves workout is very mild--it's for someone who has not exercised at all before, or very little. It's definitely not for someone hardcore like you

Dena, I did get some things crossed of the list, and that's a good feeling, to get something accomplished! Of course, one of those things was to add my 16yr old daughter and her new-to-her car to our insurance...they can't even tell me how much it'll be yet, but I know I'm not going to like it!

If y'all haven't seen the movie Chicago, you need to! It's a great one...the singing, the dancing--awesome!

    ttyl,
    Jane
  • Hey, Everyody!

Let's see if I can do a little better today than yesterday. I couldn't go to the gym, because I had a lot of things to do. But I did do a 30 minute video in the morning, walked with my hubby on his lunch break and walked after dinner. I've got to get to the gym today. I really miss it when I don't go. Plus I do feel I get a better workout.

Jane, so you saw the move, "Chicago"? How was Rene and Catherine in the movie? Did you see the Golden Globes with Rene winning?

Kempy, sound pretty busy at your job. Where is your morning worker these days? And when is Mardi Gras?

    Jo Jo, how are you?

    Cee Jay, we miss you.

Okay, guys. let's all keep at it. My goals are to drink 8 glasses of water, exercise and count my food intake on fitday. I really want to lose 3 more lbs. by the end of the month.

    Take care,

    D
  • Good morning, everyone. It is snowing here so I think I will stay at home and stay warm. Perhaps tomorrow I will do my walking at the mall.

I vow to eat a balanced mix of foods, drink lots of water, do some exercise, clean my bedroom, and stay positive? How's that for a vow?

    Keep smiling, everyone -
  • hey hey =)

yesterday was good exercise day. upper body and some running for 30 minutes and bike for about 20.

today my goal is to do lower body! *flex*
gawd i hate squats and lunges but they will be done and done well until my legs are wobbly little nubs!

i was highly excited yesterday though....usually i do three or four exercises for shoulders and end with shoulder press using one of the machines because i'm too lazy to figure out how to do it properly with free weights......maybe that will be my next upper body goal.......anyway on the shoulder press machine, the old setting was all of a sudden rediculously light...i was able to add two more plates for a couple of sets. nuts!
same for chest press and biceps. i am just so thrilled since my chest and biceps were my weakest areas and to see the progress just makes me want to do backflips!
  • Hey guys!

Ebe you go girl you are hardcore.

Jo it sounds like you have a good plan for the day.

The girl that works inthe morning went to California to see her hubby. They just got married and he is a marine. He got orders to go to Iraq so she went to see him before he left. She will be back Friday so I think I can hang in until then.

Mardi Gras is March 4th (Fat Tuesday) but we go the weekend before March 1st and 2nd. I still have a while to get down to my goal. I am going to keep trudging along.
  • Good Morning, Everyone!

Well, yesterday I drank all my water, exercised and then we went out for Chinese Food last night and I feel horrible today. I don't know if it was the salt or that I ate everything on my plate. lol But I do appreciate it when I have a slimmer tummy. Not this morning. I'm usually so good. What happened? So, it's forget it and move on. My goals for today are to exercise, drink my water and eat right!

Kempy, thanks for the info on Mardi Gras. That should be a blast.

Ebe, you really inspire me. When I'm at the gym, I try to go a little longer because of you. Thanks so much.

Jo Jo, wow it's snowing. Sounds so beautiful and peaceful.

    Have a great day, everyone!

    Luv, D
  • hey everyone =)
i hope we're all doing well.....seems like temps are low everywhere. its absolutely miserable here. soooo cold, i don't even have a pair of gloves like an idiot.....i should go to the store and buy some.....urgh boo to cold weather.

legs are sore today. not very sore but sore....i've been trying to do legs until i can't walk out of the gym but that is darn hard to do, for me, for anyone? i just don't know how to get to that kind of intensity....although yesterday i only did lower body and no cardio, just a little too wiped to really care. workouts seem so unsatisfying without good heart thumping cardio. today i think i'll only do that, no weights, friday arms....and cardio....saturday lower body and then sunday upper body again and cardio.
drat that means no rest day. i should just do upper body today.
it would probably help if i actually had a schedule instead of just doing what i feel like.....

babbling....i just woke up. lately i've had this incredible craving for some yummy baked stuff...mmmmmmmm brownies, cookies, cake.
theres no cake occassion coming up though :/ and i don't want to bake a whole batch of cookies or even have cookie dough anywhere near me really....same with brownies....i know there are healthier versions of brownies with yogurt or protein powder or other stuff but really why bother with those.....think i might try a healthy version of brownies i suppose =/
the only other option is going right now to The Cookie Company in the mall and getting one of their humongous cookie sandwiches with gooey warm frosting in the middle....
eewwwwwwww. i have to stop thinking about that since there is no way i'm running out to the mall right now

oops more babbling, ok shutting up about food!
  • and
don't worry about one meal dena i know what you mean about the tummy part! seems like the only time my tummy is flat is if i have a stomach virus or something for a few days.....cause that is the only way i can not eat....

kempy well tomorrow is friday you must be happy. i know of a couple people that are being shipped to the middle east...kinda scary when you think about it.
  • I really don't mind when the morning girl isn't here. It gets me out of my office when I have to do her stuff too.

Dena don't woory about the chinese food. You do enough workouts to get rid of the extra cals and stuff. The only time my tummy is flatter is when I wake up in the morning. As soon as I eat something there it goes. lol

Ebe have you tried the TCBY fat free yougurt? They have a FF brownie sundae too. MMMMM know I am thinking about it. Darn it!

Well, I didn't workout again last night. I am just too cold and tired when I get home. I can't function in these temps. I put on my flannels and hide under the covers and don't move all night. I know that isn't good but my southern blood doesn't flow very well right now.
  • Kempy, aren't you freezing your patooty off? I know I am! They're just talking on the news about how the strawberries are in danger tonight! I'm not a native southerner, but I've been here long enough that I can't take this! I tried to walk tonight, cuz, amazingly enough, I really wanted the exercise...but my face was so cold it gave me a headache! I don't have a ski mask, but even if I did i don' t know if I'd dare prowl the neighborhood wearing a ski mask

I did do a Curves workout though. And other than waaaay too much sodium today, the food's been pretty good. I find the two things that are hardest for me are getting enough calcium, and not overdoing the salt. I was way over today because I ate canned soup for lunch. That is really the worst! Dena, I think Chinese food is like that too--so high on sodium content that you can't help feeling bloated the next day! drink lots of water! Ebe, what did you find to satisfy the sweet tooth? And buy a pair of gloves, girl! brrrrr!

I'd better go journal before I fall asleep on the keyboard..

    night, all!
  • Good Morning, Everyone!

Yesterday I spent over an hour in the gym... 30 minutes on the treadmill, 20 minutes on the ellipitical and the rest working out on the machines. I'm adding more weight on the machinese to work a little harder. See, Ebe, you've inspired me.

I've been volunteering at the Chamber of Commerce here, until I find something else. Yesterday I not only acted as receptionist, but got to deliver membership packets to various businesses I didn't even know existed. I figue I might meet some people here with some interesting work that I could do.

Thanks, Ebe, Kempy and Jane about telling me that this puffy feeling is just temporary due to the salt in the food. I feel a lot better than yesterday. I'll keep drinking my water.

Ebe, it's the cold weather that't making you want carbs. That's what happens to me, too. It's the idea of snuggling up with a warm cup of coffee and something else. Biscotti are low in cals. Just a suggestion. I like to go to Star Buck's and do that on rare occasions and it's like a treat. You don't wear gloves? I bought myself the cutest gloves... black with soft, furry leopard cuffs. I wear them every nite when I take a walk in our 50 degree weather. Of course, in the day time it's in the 70's.

Kempy, so how exciting for you with Mardi Gras coming up. Wish I could go to one of those. I have know idea what really goes on. On TV, however, it looks like a lot of fun.

Jane, congrats for doing your curves! About walking at night... Can you walk in a mall? At least, it might be safer there and not so cold.

Well, hope everyone has a great weekend!! HAPPY FRIDAY!!

    Luv, D
