What to hear something crazy about taxes? In december we all have to pay city and parish (we don't have counties) taxes. We have Homestead Exemption here so some homeowners can get out of paying them if their house is valued less than $75,000. Anyway, here at the gym we had to pay taxes on the building and eveything in it. We have two sofas in the lobby and we had to pay taxes on them. All of the equipment is going to get taxes every year. Now I don't know about you but I think that is crazy!!
We do that too. I think it is so stupid. When we were renting a shop downtown to cook from we got taxed on our equipment only and now they still do it since we moved to the building at our house plus we get taxed for the building. Anything to take all of our money. sad because you should see the roads in Maine and lack of employment and such.
I am sure the money in Louisiana fills a politicans pockets. They are always finding stupid things to spend the money on. The new mayor of New Orleans cracked down on a huge inspection tag scam. This was back in July I think when he did this. Tons of poeple got fired b/c of it. The city was losing so much money from these people. I wish our town would start doing that type of stuff. They are pretty crooked around here. I am sure this state has a reputation around the country.

Don't get me started on taxes...I have nothing positive to say...well, almost nothing. At least we are current on them. That's about it. You know, if we had "homestead exemption" in Hawaii no one could qualify @ $75K because real estate here is so outrageously overpriced and over-valued. You'd be lucky to find a 3-bedroom single-family home in a good area for less than 200K.
I'm feeling much better today. Frame-of-mind is much more positive (despite the short rant above). I wonder what the heck was going on with me yesterday, I'm still trying to figure out what brought that funk on. Glad to be rid of it. Anyway, I'm just plugging away here at work and trying to avoid phone calls with my accountant, except to confirm payroll numbers. Can't wait til the weekend--wishing my scale will give me some lower numbers on Saturday despite all the chocolate cake binges this past week. *sigh*. Oh well, move on.
Chris, sorry to hear of all the difficult things that have happened to your family and loved ones. All we can do is pray for strength for everyone affected. Feel free to vent here, we like to listen to all the ups and downs. It's what we're here for.

I'm kinda gloomy lately. Just went to a last minute meeting,a nd was told that someone was fired. Always makes me jittery. I have nothing to worry about, i know that, but still. We're funded by a grant, which makes me nervous. If we dont make money, we won't get our grant renewed next year. Makes you think.
It's freezing cold out there! Is there a limit to how cold a person can get before going nuts?!
$200,00.00? wow! You would die to be up here.(Actually probably not...the views aren't anything like Hawaii) Houses are cheap!(But that is probably because there are no jobs so everyone is leaving.) I fell in love with this farm house and they wanted $80,000.00 for it but it was in town and if I buy a farm house it better be in the country!! I have my fingers crossed for you that the numbers move on the scale.
Chris, did you see the news tonight? Looks like the whole USA is going to be freezing tonight. It would suck to live in Florida and have it get cold. Do they even have heaters in their house?
What's with these cold fronts all over the nation? We've had lows of 50's and highs of 70's here for over a week (yes that's cold for us). It gets cold here sometimes but for it to stay that way for so long is unusual. I know a couple of days ago was another day that the entire continental US had freezing temps. Boy I bet you all wish you were here, basking in the sun .
Anyway, have any of you ever tried this website www.myvirtualmodel.com ? You can put in your stats, including build, hair/eye color, etc. and it'll do a virtual model of you. You can even use it to shop online and "try on" some clothes. It's fun! It's another site I use to entertain myself with. I've even created virtual me's from my highest weight and downward. You can save them and just give them different names. It's cool--I recommend trying it at least. Have fun.
Kermit the dog has been adopted. What kind of animal shelter do we have, I showed an interest in him and noone would work to help me see if he liked cats and they go and adopt him out right from under me. I am glad he has found a new home but geesh, I figured they should have worked with me since I was the first person to be interested in him. I am so happy for him though. He was a good boy.
I HAVE A COLD and I feel like crap. It is my first one this year though. I am going to try to exercise but I hate having a sore throat and exercising. YUCK!

Trust me, we have heaters here. We turn them on when it hits 50. I am telling you we are wimps about the cold here. My MIL called this morning to make sure that I was awake b/c thier powere went out. I think the cold made them lose it. I would hate to see if it snowed. Our subdivision has the powerlines underground so I think that is what saved us. When ever we have a big storm come through we never lose anything not even cable. That is usually the first thing to go.

Good morning ladies. It's yucky and muggy here today. We're waiting for some more big rains. Big black clouds are looming. There's a high wind watch which means the possibility of 40mph winds. Wish it would blow some of the stickiness away.
Angie sorry to hear that you're sick. I'm just getting over my sore throat and stuffy nose. I'm glad Kermit found a home and didn't have to be put down even though he couldn't find a home with you. I'm sure he'll be fine. I love/hate going to the humane society here. Love to play with all the dogs and cats but hate to see that there are so many that need homes and may be euthanised if not adopted.
Kempy, the virtual model sort of looked like me but I had to use the oriental looking face model whose eyes are just a little bit more slanted than mine. You can modify the model by using the + or - to slim it down or plump it up. I think it most looks like me from the side view except for the boobs. Even the option for small-medium is much more than what I got . Too bad you can't target specific areas on the body to really make it look real. Mine would have the pouchie stomach and the flabby thighs (haha) + smaller boobs. It's fun to use though, you can even dress it up.

Hi, no you girls don't stink. I'm just staying so busy all day, bt the time I get home, it's dinner, and a walk,a nd I crash. I'm usually home in the mornings, but usually you girls are here later in the day, so i'm never around when you giys get chatty. Sorry. Yeah, I think tomorrow's the weigh in for our challenge. I'm still at 155, which gives me half credit for the month. Not bad though.
Since tomorrow's our anniversary, we decided to go to the bridal shop,a nd look at dresses for our renewal ceremony, a year from today. The dresses were georgous. i'll probably wear a mother of the bride type dress, wiht a jacket. Beautiful, and I fit into the size 10, that was a wonderufl moment for me. never thought i'd fit into that size.. ever!
Wer'e home now and watching Drivng Miss Daisy. Sorry i'm so quiet lately. My voice is still horse, and every day it gets better, and then worse. Dont' know why. Coughing fits at night. I'm glad you guys post as often as you do. makes me feel good to see the conversations taht went on every day. Kinda feel isolated, but at least I nknow you guys care.
