Warning, veggie growing is seriously addictive, like running!!!! I miss growing my own veggies. Grow courgettes. They grow like wildfire, and home grown taste really nice. And mange tout, they're easy too.

I'm glad you loved Amsterdam. Eating healthy must be hard there, I didn't even try last time!!! Not been there since I've been a healthy little thing.

Glad you're back, won't mention the R word......my football team are starting the season well, with losses here there and everywhere, sigh. (that's Aussie football not the English muck!)

Welcome back YP

I'm sure some part of prison food has to be healthy they said it on Jamie's schools dinners. I think! I don't know any vegetarians who've been in prison, we're all nice peaceful types obviously.

What Jamie said was that the state pay more money per head for prisoners than they do for kids

I'm sure you'd have a jolly time banged up at Styal

Hi Ladies

Jen - your fitness club sounds lovely. Nice to have one to one tuition, especially when you haven't used some of the equipment before.

Veggie - why do you want to go to prison? Dieting can't be that bad! Prison food is all stodge. The one thing that is really helping me this time is that I can completely avoid buying stuff I shouldn't by having my food delivered. On Sunday after a big breakfast I work out a menu detailing exactly what I'm going to eat for each of my 3 meals and 3 snacks each day then I put in an Sainsbury or Tesco order for only the stuff I need and it gets delivered each Tuesday.

Kyk and YP - We used to have an allotment and we grew all our own organic veg. We had to give it up when DH changed jobs because he just didn't have the time any more but we used to love it - and the food, of course. We never grew spuds or cabbage, we just concentrated on the stuff which is expensive in the shops like spinach, fancy salad greens, raspberries, runner beans (there is NOTHING like fresh home grown runner beans!) If you've got the space then go for it. We still grown our own tomatoes and chillies - and herbs, of course.

Woops! Forgot to say that DH has told all his weight training co-workers about the magic pancakes and I've had to spend most of the morning baking them one each for them to try. DH says if they like them then he'll take orders for them for me to cook. Oh goodee! (said sarcastically) You never know, I might have a new career!

Just an expression!

I am HUNGRY! I just had lunch an hour, actually nearer 2 hours ago... Must eat more apples! I suppose I should drink some more too, that's probably the real reason. I'm feeling hungry just thinking about tonight's workout!

Hello all....

Frus: just wondering--do you eat right before or right after a workout? I haven't figured out when a good time is yet!

I usually try and eat about an hour to half an hour before a workout (a small "meal") then eat protein and carbs (even if it's just a small amount) within 30 minutes of finishing a workout. Then try and have a "meal" within an hour of finishing my workout.

I'm always eating (every 3 hours) so it usually works out about right! I'm actually going to eat in between workouts today, since I'm at it for 2 hours or more!

Sarah - what a great idea - I've never put two and two together before that on the rare occasion that I order food to be delivered I only get what I've asked for, not all the junk I fancy along the way If I had a brain I'd be dangrous

Once I've moved house (next week hopefully) I'm going to get more organised and plan meals.

Not looking forward to weighing tomorrow morning I can foresee a deep depression settling over South Wales

Hello everyone hope all is well with you all.

I'm off to the gym shortly. Today I've been truly saintly. Ignored every biscuit and cake at work and believe me there are loads. Yesterday I went mad ate like a mad woman. Oh I felt so unwell last night. It was a joy today
to go back to eating lovely healthy food. Blimey I must have come some way
to be able to say that. One of the porters at work bought us back the most
wonderful Belgium chocs it started from there and we didn't stop until work ended. I took to my bed last night at 8.30pm bloated and exhausted.

I have new clothes for the gym size 12 bottoms from next which I have to say again fit very snug around the tummy but a little loose on the hips, and a size 14 top because of my big bosoms yuk.

Sarah I love home grown runner beans too. My youngest son has plans to grow some veg but I said Kerry (my rabbit will eat it all) she eats anything. Including my jeans one time!! Not the whole pair though I hasten to add!!

Don't worry about tomorrow Janie. Your on the right road now thats the main thing. Let us know how you get on.

d be awful

Ta Michele - well done for avoiding the biccies and cake. You're obviously a woman with a will of iron

I grow runner beans in tubs - those big plastic ones you can get with rope handles. Kerry won't be able to get at them then. I've got enough garden to grow them in but I find they come on better in tubs - you can make very effective wig-wams out of canes and I rotate the tubs every couple of days to get even sunshine all around for an even crop. Also, with the tubs I find that you get less crawlies eating more than their share before I get to them. If you've got limited space you can do just one or two plants in any old bucket.

Potatoes are good grown this way too - you just need to make holes in the bottom and put some chippings in to make sure you've got some drainage (with all, not just the potatoes).

Happy growing.

I've been eating crisps and chocolate all afternoon , I really must get back down to eating properly soon and not being so weak when it comes to temptation! Still, I had a good 50 minute run on the treadmill this morning, although I'm in training tomorrow so no doubt there will be rubbish food available rather than healthy nutritious stuff. I'm just trying to work out what I can pack to eat on the way to Spanish as I won't have time to come home in between.

I probably won't be able to get the garden/veggies sorted for another couple of weeks, possibly only after I've been to Spain, but I'm making a note of all the good ideas!
