Hi Mrswookie - I'm not too far away from you in terms of weight to lose - not location - it seems a bit daunting at the moment (I know it does to me anyway) but the fine people on this site are positive proof that it can be done, so with their support maybe we can achieve some of our goals
It does sound daunting, when I decided to cop on as my father would say. I am not sure if I thought I would get this far. My aim was to wear jeans in a
normal size. The thrill I got when I first started wearing zips again. When
I was at my heaviest everything was elasticated I could kid myself then that
I was smaller than I actually was. When I look at pictures of how I once
looked its hard to believe its me. Keep at it don't be hard on yourself. You will have good weeks and absolute crap weeks. But you can do it really you can.
Hello everyone! I posted over on the Buddy Up! thread, but kykaree was nice enough to point me in the direction of this section. Thanks!
My name is Helen and I live in Pembrokeshire. I'm 43 and on Friday found that I could no longer fit into a size 18 (when out shopping with a friend). I could have cried right there in the shop. I know I've gained weight, but my old, comfy M&S jeans still fit, so I didn't think things were that bad. Turns out jeans sort of grow with you! Eeesh. Anyway, I refused to buy, or even try on, size 20. And here I am.
I've done Weight Watchers many times in the past, but am not a fan of the points system. I really liked the old exchange system which, I feel, provides for a more balanced diet. I wouldn't mind going to WW meetings, but not if it means following the points plan. So ... I'm going to try TOPS, which to me sounds the most similar to the old WW plan. If anyone has tried it, I'd love some input and encouragement.
I'm off to visit a friend in Bucks for the weekend and am coming home on Monday evening. First thing Tuesday morning, I'm off to Tesco to load up on fruit and veg!
I'm 34, 5' 10" and I weigh 12st (it was 12 1/2 but I've dropped a bit). Last year I suffered with my hormones quite badly due to massive weight loss down to bad living (partying, late nights, no food, hectic job). As a result my periods stopped. When I crashed my car after passing out behind the wheel (the car was 2 weeks old and it was a total write off, I was VERY lucky not to be hurt badly, I walked away with some bruising) I had to review my lifestyle.
Now my hormones are more or less settled and I now work from home (DVLA took my driving license off me because of the accident and now I'm better I'm hoping to get it back) and I have a new love in my life, Gary, bless him.
But thats all good, isn't it? Well, yeah, it is, apart from the weight that I've put on due to the dramatic slow down in lifestyle and the hormones that I'm having to take to sort out my body. I have allowed myself to put on a little weight whilst things were getting settled but now it's time to take control before it goes too far.
As I said before, I work from home as an IT consultant so I don't get much chance to go to a gym or anything. I have bought an eliptical strider which I am really looking forward to using. I reckon half an hour on that whilst watching Phil n Fern will fly by. The only problem is that I have recently diagnosed with Sciatica so I can't use it yet, but I will be able to soon.
Ouch sciatica is a NIGHTMARE! And I'd love to gain 2" to make me 12 stone at 5'10" You must look pretty foxy already!
Jump right in! We have our little monthly chat thread which us internet-addicts monopolise You might find some people who live in the real world on there too!
Was wondering if I could join you all , My name is Brenda and I am 38 years old (ouch)!, have two kids 14 and 11. Been struggling with my weight for most of my life, and am now at the highest weight I have ever been. I thought I could do it on my own but am finding it difficult, I know that I need support and motivation to keep me on the straight and narrow My first goal is to lose 2 stone.
You are a really nice group of people, which is why I would like to join. I amnot following any particular diet plan, just want to exercise more and make better food choices.
