I had a lovely day up in the Dales today. I got the bus up to Kettlewell, then pottered my way down the Dales Way, stopping off for a pint and some cake (mmm... fruit cake and wensleydale) in Grassington, then carrying on to Burnsall and getting the bus home. It was probably about 9 miles or so, so not too strenuous (or not considering I took all day to do a distance I'd normally cover in less than an hour and a half). I managed to remind myself why I've not taken up fell running. I got to Kettlewell and there were a load of runners warming up for a race , just looking at them running up and down the hill behind the campsite where the race seemed to be based was scary. I can do roads, and i can do flat, but uphill across grass really isn't my cup of tea! On the other hand it would be nice to be able to do it - I can imagine the races are far more scenic than the ones I do!

Well done HM and happy birthday! You're looking fabby!

Well done Knightbabe too

Helen - sounds like a lovely day out! I have to check where my race pack has gone for next weekend HUFF!!!!

We went to watch the Grand Depart yesterday and I bought some bargain sportswear in Decathlon - £3 for some yoga trousers Also some running socks and DH bought a new rucksack for work. The running socks were the most expensive! Then we spent the rest of the day snoozing in bed with pizza and maltesers

Sounds like a lovely weekend for you all. I had a good weekend too, although I blew out on Saturday night, we had friends over and I got carried away with a takeaway. Just working now on burning it off

Last night we went to see Die Hard 4 at the cinema, I really enjoyed it, so did Chris, it was nice to be out and about doing things. We've been struggling with money recently so its good to be able to treat yourselves every now and again.

Anyone got anything fun planned this week?

Happy belated bday HM - I don't even remember being 30!!!! Did I bypass my 30's??? It is not as if I take drugs or anything but I do not remember them at all.

My friend was a steward on the tour de France (nearly forgot what it was called! French bicycle thingy). It was badly organised. They all had to meet at Victoria - including some people who had cycled from Greenwich - to be told they would go to Greenwich! They had to leave their bikes and be bussed out. On the way back the bus went past them and they had to commandeer another one which tried to do the same and it went all round the houses. Duh!

Argh!
Why did no one warn me about avocados? Why?
I've had some really bad problems with leg cramps at night the last 2 weeks and did some reading up. Main causes tend to be dehydration and low potassium levels.

So piddlin ups the water intake and searches online for good source of potassium. Avocados says Google.

So I chuck an avocado in with my salad each day - yummy and leg cramps definitely reduced.

I just looked up the calorie content of an avocado - 350 for a medium sized one!

Piddling - don't avoid them they are very good for you. Yes bananas are good for potassium. I think nuts like almonds are too. Deffo go down the 'nana route
