Sarah that's funny about Ellie stealing the people's breakfast

I love rhubarb crumble. I was walking home one night from Chris's and found a bunch of rhubarb in someone's yard trash bin. So I grabbed what I could and took it home. Stewed rhubarb yum.

I have a chicken to roast today lovely jubbly. Sarah you always make me want to cook when I read what you've been making.

Brown belt wow congratulations. What's next black?

So Chris was there glass everywhere? She was lucky she wasn't badly hurt.

24 good stuff have you guys got the new season yet? Another bad day for Jack.

Better go do something Have a good day everyone.

I'm going through a real crumble phase at the moment. I make it with oats and wholemeal flour (and lots of fruit) and I use long runs as a justification for eating it. It's such a nice wintry comfort food. I've got cherry crumble tonight

I had to laugh at Ellie stealing breakfasts.

I've had a nice afternoon reading the papers. The wine hasn't been opened yet though, I'll save it for later. I think I'll have some nut roast and some leftover veg. I'm getting quite into having a Sunday roast to use up the veg. I make a few recipes on Friday/Saturday/Sunday lunchtime, then just roast up the leftovers before I go into eating from the freezer mode during the week.

Hi all,
Not been here a while.
My weight loss hasn't been going well, i've been doing so so well but it's not really paying off. I lose, I put on, I lose, I stay same. But what annoys me is I'm still at 19st 4 and a half lb, which I was mid way through November! Not gone any lower.

I'm finding it so disheartening now.

That Ellie is a riot!

Well I had no alcohol but believe me, imbibers, I do not in any way feel superior cos at the pub quiz I was drinking those J20 things I call em J lo's - which have sugar in them. I have no problem sticking to non alcoholic but on a cold day too the choice is not huge. My friend is off alcohol until the end of February I think and it is harder for her cos she does not like sweet drinks or orange juice (allergy) so she has to stick to coke or water. They do coffee and tea there but she had already had enough and was awash with tea!

I had had an omelette lunch in the cafe near me and decided just before the quiz that I should eat soemthing more.. I went to the Polish cafe near the working men's club and oh dear - I had forgotten the Poles dish up HUGE portions! I had a couple of potato croquettes (monster sized!) saute potatoes and a lovely salad (not fat free though, they love their dressings!). I had to request a take away box as I had hardly touched it! Guess what I am having for lunch today!!!

Oh Homer's mummy I'm still the same as I was in November too (probably a little bit more). The winter months can be hard, but DON'T GIVE UP! If you give up you'll be back at square one! Keep plodding on, and eventually you'll get there.

Sooooooooo full weekend report coming up!

Friday night I got home before everybody descended and got a nice rest in bed for about an hour, then I cooked dinner which was pork for me and the rents with baked potatoes and sugar snap peas. DH had a cheesy jacket spud. So 1 healthy day down for the weekend

Saturday I treated myself to cereal before my belt test. I was SO nervous! I didn't sleep much Wednesday, Thursday or Friday night. Anyways, so Mum and Dad took me to kickboxing and we were there about half an hour early so I was prancing around in the corridor downstairs practising things and jumping around to warm up. Then I went in and did my test while they went for a paper. Lee gave me the old, "I will fail you if you up" routine which made me even more nervous - I think I'd been to the loo about 4 times already in the half-hour before! So I got on with the test and he made me do the techniques 10 times it's usual to do them 10 times through, especially for lower belts, but these are quite energetic moves and I thought I might be asked to do 5 since we've been practising with 5 reps, but NO! So anyway, I did it and brain switched off and I made sure I was doing all the aggressive looking and noises and looking like I could kill my fresh-air opponent! I ran through everything and Lee didn't ask me any questions or why I was doing anything or what was the reason behind me doing X which I was expecting. He went through all my mistakes, of which there were a couple and then he said I'd got a 1! And he said that my breathing and facial expressions were good. So then I said that Mum and Dad were outside and could we maybe do some demonstrations etc to show them. So he made me go through my fight sequence and then I beat the pads up a lot and THEN he was attacking me and I had to perform different take-downs on him and we ended up rolling around on the floor with his arm around my throat! Oh and he made me do box splits to show off! Then he bigged me up to Mum and Dad and told them how fantastic I was!

We went to Hounslow for lunch and had a Subway! tasty and healthy! And Dad went to Maplin's while Mum and I went to Primark

We pottered off to Hungerford to pick up the bikey with my old bikey in the back of the car! (Dad has a Grand Espace) Then I gave it a quick test ride and Dad had a play too! I went pillion just to see what it's like, and it's fantastic! SO comfortable for the pillion and the rider too. I rode back, then remembered I hadn't signed the V5! So I rang the dude up and he said it'd be alright and he'd post it off for me, so I hope that's ok! The guy's a dealer anyways, so I presume it'll be all above board. The only thing that can happen anyway, is for the DVLA to get in touch with me and for me to say I didn't hand it over, but I doubt that'll happen. We got on the M4 and there was an accident right at Reading services, so we turned off for a cuppa since I had M&D following and so I couldn't really filter. There was another accident at Ealing - a "fun bus" Police Van had smacked into some vauxhall corsa or something at a junction so we had to wait ages there too! I think we got home about half 8, and I made healthy chicken stir-fry and we had small amounts of pudding that we bought at M&S at Reading services! There's still half the pudding left in the fridge for tonight

I ended the day absolutely exhausted but happy! It's still sinking in that I got a "1" for my belt (top marks) and I occassionally say, "I got a 1!" and grin!

Then yesterday we went to the Ally Pally bike show which was a bit lame, but I bought lots of stuff - gloves, neck tube, Muk Off, new armoured jacket, sunglasses, bike cover and things... We had dinner in Giraffe in Muswell Hill which was lovely, then Mum and I wanted a dessert and we had a big old debate and DH trying to talk me out of it! Then we waited for about 5 or 10 minutes for a waitress to come and take our order and I decided not to have pudding in that time! So they lost a pudding order by being so slow.

So I managed healthy eating on Friday and Saturday, not so much Sunday, but it was ok!

Oh for lunch on Sunday we went to this fantastic French cafe in Muswell Hill which was AMAZING! I had a savoury crepe with goat's cheese and red peppers and then we bought macaroons for pud while we walked to the bike show

So I had a good weekend, my sleeping is just about back to normal and I was majorly excited about coming to work this morning! The only problem is, is that there are so many fairings on the bike that I wore all my usual clothes and was SWEALTERING! I am soaked through with sweat! MMMMMM NICE! Must wear fewer clothes tomorrow!

Helen - your weekend sounds fabby!

Sarah-Ann - @ Ellie and her taste for breakfasts

Peacock - your day's eating sounds very yummy - I love omlettes and the Polish lunch sounds delish (I love sauteed spuds!) - I've not had Polish food before - how do they do things differently? Different spices??

Hommersmummy - I know how you feel. Keep at it - keep diarising your calories and exercise and perhaps get someone at the gym / diet club to take a look at it to see if they've got any ideas about what you can do.

CG - I've always loved cooking - I quite like the challenge of adjusting a normal recipe to make it low GI / low fat. Today's recipe is a mixture of two .... aubergine and blackbean chilli with Nigella's polenta topping.... and green salad.

Frus - WELL DONE ON GETTING TOP MARKS! It must have been really weird for your parents to see you fighting and demonstrating the moves. I'm glad you got the bike okay and that it rides well. Cor! That savoury crepe with goats cheese and red peppers sounds dead yum! Somehow lunch hasn't hit the spot today and all this talk of food is making me hungry!

Well... my first proper morning at the PO went .... okay. It was INCREDIBLY busy - the transaction reports showed it was the busiest morning since last September AND one of the girls phoned in sick .... my luck .... but I think I did my fair share! (I'm now - might go and have a lie down!) One thing REALLY p'd me off - my till reconcilliation showed that it was £10 up - but the girl sitting next to me and supervising me had been responsible for swapping money between the tills - and when she reconcilled she found that her till was £10 down - so the Manager commented it was probably her fault and she went nuts - threw a right wobbly - saying it MUST be my fault. Looks like she might be a bit of a problem!

I think so too. Luckily the only shifts we are on at the same time is Monday mornings and we are on the same every fourth Saturday morning shift.

If you don't like the idea of all your personal info being kept on computers then take a look at THIS Scary! It could put you off phoning up for takeaway forever!!!!!

Hi everyone! I'm new around here, so thought I'd pop in here and say Hello. My name's Kat and I live in London, which I've seen quite a few people say is full of skinny people - and that is so true! I had lost 50lb to get from 198lb to 148lb when I moved down here, and thought that I was at a good weight, but now I just want to lose more as I'm surrounded by slim people constantly. I'm up at 154lb now though after a bad weekend of eating and drinking way too much, so I'm aiming to lose 12lb more over the next month a bit, to finally be down to the weight I want to be.

Just to put a little bit about me.. I'm 22, and I live with my bf and 2 other guys in the centre of London, which I love! Looking to buy a place out of the centre sometime in the near-ish future though, with my bf.
I play the piano and the clarinet, the piano being my main love. And, I generally love being outside! And eating out.. which is baaad. Too many great restaurants down in London!! :P I work in the 'financial centre' of London, and it's too unfriendly for my liking.

Anyway, that's enough about me.. I look forward to getting to know you guys.

Hello!

It's always a little bit of a shock going somewhere other than London and seeing at least 50% of people are overweight - and there are indeed a vast majority of skinny Londoners what that's about!

I think it's due to the fact that where I work everyone's very motivated and driven, and are high achievers.. so therefore it reflects on their personal life, going to the gym lots etc. I don't know though, it's just a guess.
I only moved here 10 months ago, and before that I lived down in the South (and had a 5 year stint in Belfast, N.Ireland), so it's definitely strange being in London, for me, where there just aren't many obese people!

I suppose its different if you are brought up in London - I never really noticed that everyone was skinny. It could be the kind of people you work with rather than just Londoners as a group. I certainly found it easier to diet when I lived in London - there was more variety in foods both in restaurants and for cooking.

When we first moved up here to Yorkshire I did notice that there was a bigger percentage of chunkier people in the area where I live now but I put that down to cultural differences (more pies, less sushi) and a completely different more laidback attitude to life .... and possibly different genetics.... maybe its a combination of all three.
