La3Y . . . how about plastic canvas . . . my 10 year-old granddaughter loves it . . . which is quite amazing since she is really quite a tom-boy, sports-nut, type of kid.
I've been known to do some candle making(with kits),embroidery, paper toll, jewellry making and some bead work. I am hoping my grandma will teach me how to do the beadwork on moccasins and such when I go to see her,I think that would be cool!!
I am saving p to take lessons on how to make lace the old fashioned way not crocheted(sp?) you know when there is a million threads and you have to weave then together to make a tiny piece of lace......very cool
Wow wide. That would be so time consuming. I'm an instant gradification type of person - hence the knitting machine. I like results quickly!!! I finished the baby blanket I started for DGS and it turned out beautiful. The yarn was a mohair-like that made the blanket a little fuzzy.
I'm going to work on a drawing later today. I found one of the rare pictures of a husky we briefly had that my DS loved. Bugsy was a good dog, but hated our neighbor. To make sure we didn't get sued, we brought her back to the Humane Society and supported her till she was adopted again. Well, anyway, there are very few pictures of her. I found one and decided to draw her fro my son who is away at tech school (just finished basic training). He was really excited when I told him. So I'm going to work on that this afternoon.
Well Crafty Chickeis, I will chat with you all later,
Marie

Linda...Yes I have done a stain glass quilt. It was a wall hanging/banner that I did for my church. It was a cross with lilies. I mostly like to do piece quilting. Today I finished up doing the applique on my quilt. Tomorrow I need to make lots of sawtooth blocks for a boarder.
It rained most of the day, but we were in the 50's. Isn't Spring Grand!! Hope the weather improves before the weekend get here. I was finally done a couple of pounds this morning, but won't believe anything till my Wednesday weigh-in.
I am currently working on many things lol I am making a grandmas flower garden quilt..i am making the flowers now..then I switch to some redwork embroidery ornaments they are angels..neat neat!! I got the pattern at a craft show..and 3rd trying to learn to make a granny square in crochet. A friend of mine is showing me. I was suppose to learn how to make em so when I visited my granny at her nursing home, I could work on it..unfortunatley she passed away Feb 23rd. I am having a really really hard time..she raised me shes like my mom..soooo when I get the hang of it...I am making a small afgahn in her honor. I know that she is looking down on me and is proud.
Thank you for the warm welcome! I love crafters - we are always so enthusiastic aren't we? Hopefully I can put that same enthusiasm to losing weight as I do to crafting!
I don't think I mentioned it before but I am in Australia so all my posts will be a little later than the rest of you. I am an American tho, LOL. Anyway, right now for me it is Friday night at 10:41 pm and I see by my USA clock that it is about 7:15 Eastern time for you all, Friday morning.
I didn't do so hot on my diet today. Had to go to the dentist and was only able to eat something soft for dinner, so ended up eating two bowls of oatmeal. I'm pretty sure that's a no no, LOL
The weather is nice and cool here now. It is autumn in Australia so I can finally get out to walk a bit. I'm going to go walk around the running track. I thought I'd like walking up and down the neighborhood but I feel funny and on display. The track is somewhat remote and I think I'll be more comfortable there.
Am still trying to decide on a diet - what all are you girls doing diet-wise? I am at a loss. I can't do WW because it's too expensive for me to go to the meetings (which are $20 a pop, plus about $50 to join). I did Atkins once and had good weightloss but I gained it all back right away and besides, I really missed my fruit.
Sad to say I did both WW and Atkins in America when I weighed about 30 lbs less than I do now, so I REALLY need to get on the ball and get this off and keep it off.
Any hints for a 53 year old, 5'4 3/4", 186 lb woman who's always been sedentary and can't even swim?
Ok - best of luck to you all today! And if you have any suggestions I sure appreciate it!
Hugs, Di
I am so sorry to hear about your Grandma. I know exactly how you feel lovey. My Grandma raised me for the first 7 years of my life and I was always her special baby til the day I lost her. I was 35 then and am 53 now and I still cry over the loss and miss her every day.
Yes, your Granny is looking down at you now and so proud of you. Try to hang in there honey, it does get easier to bear but I know right now it's really tough for you. Here's a big hug for you

The lady who I buy alot of my punch needle things from started out with Bunka. She doesn't do the punch needle herself but is a wonderful Bunka artist. She is in New Zealand but she ships Bunka supplies overseas all the time. A lovely lady. Her website is www.ginnyscushions.co.nz If you go there remember that her prices are all in New Zealand dollars so the US equivalent is alot less (probably something like you would pay 60 cents on the NZ dollar or maybe even less.
Thank you for the magic dust - I can use all the help I can get, LOL

Good Morning from Atlantic Canada . . . sunny and mild again today, but I know there is at least one more snowstorm lurking out there somewhere.
Cheryl . . . Congrats on getting rid of some of that water weight already. Yep, I would have bet money that you had made at least one stained-glass quilt.
Azcyn . . . so sorry your granny won't be able to see your accomplishment but she will know that you have made a granny-square in her honour. BTW, I think granny squares are just about the most wonderful crochet project ever. You can turn them into almost anything. and you can make them in almost any size and shape (they don't have to be square).
Hi again, Wendy.
Di . . . Autumn is my favourite season. If I was rich (instead of just beautiful ), I'd follow Autumn around the world so I could live in it all the time.
You could do a lot worse that oatmeal, girl, it is a perfectly wonderful and healthy food. Basically, you can follow just about any plan that suits you. Bottom line is that calories in must be less than calories out and how you get there is just a matter of personal preference. I'm diabetic so I have to keep an eye on my carb consumption, so I more or less follow the guidelines from the CDA (Canadian Diabetes Association) and then enter everything into an excel program I wrote myself that keeps track of everything to do with my disease including my calories. In other words, you have to find something you are comfy with and then stick to it. And sticking to it is easier when you've got a little help from all your friends here at 3FC.
Well, I've got to get a move on. Doctors' appointment this morning. See you soon, gang. Keep doing the good stuff and the rewards will follow.
Cyn...So sorry about your loss. I lost my Grandmother a couple of years ago and miss her so much. She was a wonderful, loving woman that raised 7 children, had 23 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. She was never too busy for any of us, and made an afagan for each of us before she passed.
Di...I'm doing Weight Watchers. Right now it is free registration and $11.00 a week. You can also do it on line for less and get support from us. Thanks for the link to purchase Bunka. I'll be checking it out.
Well March is not going out like a lamb. it roaring out like a LION. I can't believe that I had a couple days of nice spring weather and I woke up to blowing wind and sleet! But, I live in North Dakota, where the weather changes every 15 minutes.
Well ladies, make it good one. I'm off to fix myself something to eat and get started on some housework, so I can go sew later on.
Hey everyone I am going shopping this weekend to look for some new things to do...I went out yesterday and took the kids to the park I walked. they played I even raced the kids twice...lol They won both times.
Things I am going to do this weekend(I post this here cause I will not be able to get online untill Monday)
I will eat right
I will walk 2miles on Saturday(Sunday is my day off)
I will work on my weights!!!
I hope all of you are well....and have a great weekend!!!
Morning everyone, looks like everyone i busy with their crafts. I finished the baby blanket yesterday for DGS and it's very pretty. Then I fought with computers for quite a while. Once the laptop was rebuilt and needed drivers installed, I started on a drawing for my son. It's turning out beautifully. I love to draw. I'd always wanted to learn how but I thought I had no talent. Last fall I took a drawing class and just love it. Mostly I draw my doggies. It's pretty cool. I also need to get back to a sweater I'm knitting for my sister's birthday. When I started I had plenty of time, now her birthdya is approaching and I'm not making progress. So I'll work on that this weekend.
I got up and walked 3 miles this morning. I love spring break. I'm done exercising for the day and it's not even 8 in the morning. Unfortunately all good things must end and I have to return to work on Tuesday.
FYI, I'm working on the less calories in more calories expended diet plan with smaller portions. I'm choosing healthy foods for a healthy body. So far, so good.
