Kempy - I have shin splints toooooo - I got them when I did hurdles in middle school. I can run on dirt, but not pavement or even the track at the high school with that bounce back stuff (the name is lost on me). I can only run on a real dirt road and my shins be okay. I try on dirt w/ gravel, but it is so so - not as bad as pavement. My degree will be in Dental Hygiene. Hence, my anatomy class and learning about muscle fibers (prolly remembered wrong and so now anal me must make sure for Noelle since it piqued her interest and i would not want to lead her astray )
Okay here I go with some physiology stuff that can help us all... Stretching - you actually do lengthen your muscles when you regularly stretch - for an improvement in flexibility daily stretching for many weeks if possible. We all know slow and gentle. I bring this up because of that yoga / pilates session that I did that really felt great. Hmmmm... I knew stretching was good before work out, but serious stretching sessions increase flexibility - new goal, I wanna do a split. The only one I did was when one foot came off a skateboard while the other traveled forward with it.
Okay - Noelle - I will try to better explain the fibers (LOL) us girls with the muscles bigger in diameter have muscles that fatigue quickly - thus no long distance running immediately. But with running further and further, those muscles can evolve into a muscle of more endurance but not quite the lean muscle of "natural born runners." That is my summary without the technical terms for those muscles. But if you would like to learn more the muscles are slow oxidative fibers (natural runners); Fast oxidative glycolytic fibers (runners from training ); and Fast glycolytic fibers (you know those girls who were thin and strong with big leg muscles like some cheerleaders or soccer players and body builders - the natural runners have those long lean muscles) I hope I explained that well and I gave you the terms if you want to learn more.
Some of us girls were not born with bodies that are naturally long, lean and flexible, BUT we can make our bodies grow to be such. That makes me happy.
GIRL I am so proud of you. You've been working so hard and you've overcome so much and now you're really rockin and rollin You inspire me every day! I will try the shutterfly thing for my pics. If that doesn't work I'll have to email them to you all. Congrats once again on making it to the 40 lb chicky!!
Kempy- Don't worry babe, you'll make your 10%. I have faith in you I'm feeling kinda lazy about cooking dinner too. I'm also feeling lazy about shopping. I'm gonna have food delivered from fresh direct just to see how that works out.
Hi J- You busy mom you.
Maggz- Those darn seminars always have the best food don't they?! Sometimes I wanna crash them just for the food. Just have small portions and you'll be fine.
Aimee- I'm trying to start up running angain myself. I don't really like it but I love the effects. Good luck with that.
Cal- are you on vacation yet!?
Okay ladies I have to cook now (Making chiken parm with veggies) I'll check back later my gurlz.
Back to tormenting my kiddos. I keep telling them it's what I live for.
I'm not counting down, yet, to vacation. It's still too far away. We have testing coming up in 2 weeks and we're trying to get the kiddos ready for that. The kids are so stressed during testing week, I can't figure out why they can't just make those days 1/2 days. I don't ever have my kids do a lot of work and I never start a new lesson during that week. I may start my vacation countdown after testing week; we'll see.
Noelle: You are sure an inspiration for all of us. You've done so well. I hope the rain lets up for you. We've actually been getting some rain here, even after the forecasters said we wouldn't see anymore for several months. I'm glad they were wrong about that one.
Dips: I had Spring break the last 2 weeks. We leave for Europe in about 10 weeks, but I'm not counting yet. It was great to hear that you had a wonderful time in Florida. I can't wait to see the pics.
Kempy: Just like Noelle, you are doing awesome. I'm proud of you; keep up the great work.
Maggzs: I don't have to go to any board meetings, but at school we have staff meetings, or inservices, and they always have snacks...usually chocolate. For some, it can be very difficult. Fortunately, I don't care for chocolate so I'm able to resist. My downfall is usually the chips and salsa.
I echo what Noelle said, perhaps you can take your own snacks.
Julie: You are always so busy. What a great mom. I usually have to get after Ashley to do her homework. Sometimes, I don't let her play outside with friends because she become too grouchy and tired during the week. She does play with her dog, Tucker, and that keeps both of them active and happy.
Hello to Aimee, Red, Cherie, and Angie. I hope everything is going well for all of you. Cherie and Angie: We miss you. Please come out and let us know that you're ok.
Good morning guys. Well, I am not feeling very good about the weigh-in but I could be surprised. I am 1/2 lbs heavy than 2 weeks ago on my home scale. I did take my measurments though and I have lost a little in my upper arms and chest. I guess that is ok too. I was really looking forward to dropping some sort of weight though. Since Feb. 9 when I started to measure I have lost 4 inches total all over. I guess that is good. I need to keep my chin up and just hope for the best when I get there. I need to head out now. I just needed to ven treally quick b4 I left.
CRAP! Well, the weigh-in didn't go like I had hoped for. She even calculated wrong. She said I was up .4lbs and then logged me in as losing 16lbs total. I should have been a little higher than last week. I am just going to say 16 though b/c of this water weight. Is that wrong of me?
I just got back from the grocery so I need to put away the food. At least we have food now.
Kempy, I say leave the record as it stands...that way when you go back next week after a good, long week of hard work, you can proudly collect your 10% keychain! Good job girl! And at my center yesterday, the topic was "How do you determine if you're successful?"...we had to talk about NSV's, like your inches lost. Sometimes the scale doesn't show what we want it to, but the tape measure doesn't lie either, so I say you did great!
Cal, I'm sure the kids were glad to be back in school again, not! Here's wishing this last quarter flies by
Well, I gotta run out the door and get my walk in while the sun is out...more wet stuff forecast for this afternoon. Bother! Have a good one, I'll be back later.
Yup, I would keep the 16, we know you're going to drop that PMS bloatation any day now . Don't worry about it. I just got back from walking the dog and didn't get rained on--amazing!!! Skies are getting darker now though, should be raining in an hour or two
I just did TaeBo. I did a different DVD this time. I really didn;t like it that much. It was the Energy one from the set that I bought. I have a feeling that I am going to need to buy some new DVD's soon. I feel like I am getting sued to the ones that I have. I can;t be getting bored yet. I have to much left to lose.
Ok, I will keep the 16 if you say so. I am going to try my hardest not to blow it this weekend. Having company makes it so much harder to stay good. I guess I will be eating lots of salad this weekend to try to keep myself full.
Hi all, just taking a short break this afternoon. I have been working hard at work (imagine that!) and did a ton of paperwork. It's been a long time since I did that Anyway, I had to take a break because I was so busy working at the computer, then something caught my eye--it was a freakin' HUGE cane spider that came out from behind the couch and was crawling up the wall. I just HATE spiders as they creep me out!!!! Ugh! I had to go and smash it with my shoe because they bite something awful. There is a nice big dirty shoeprint on my white wall now with one spider leg stuck to the wall ... sorry if that's TMI I'm just kinda freakin' out here and had to share...
here's a pic of a cane spider--not THE cane spider that was in here, but just a pic to show y'all. Gross ain't it? *shudder*

Noelle- Hope you got that sucker good! Thank goodness only the ity bity spiders are in NY. It's the rats and roaches we have to worry about Bet you're lookin real hot these days being 40 pounds lighter and all. I am forever at this plateu between 133 and 135. I want to break into the 120s soooo bad.
Kempy- Keep moving forward, my love. And don't feel like it's too soon to switch up your workout. You have to do what you enjoy!
Hey ladies, I got some exercise in this morning then I washed my car. It was sooooo filthy, and of course when I leave for work it starts raining. Oh well, such is life eh? We are supposed to have this big City centennial celebration (fair-type stuff with circus acts, carnival rides and game) starting tomorrow through the weekend but two days have already been cancelled due to inclement weather... Anyways, had a late breakfast/lunch of some sushi and am supposed to be working.
Dips, you will break that plateau soon, I'm sure when you have more time when school lets out you can focus more on working out. Are you still going to Bally's and checking out them hottie trainers and masseuse guys?
I can't wait til they finish building a new YMCA near my house, I wanna get in on some classes. By then I should be nearer to goal and less self-conscious about working out in front of people
Hey guys. This will prorably be my last post for the weekend. With the company coming I don't think I will have time. I still have to work tomorrow too and keep them happy.
Noelle that is one freaky looking spider. I hate them too. I usually do the hebbe jebbe dance after I kill them though. I just get some freaked out by them.
I hope all of you guys have a great weekend and that Noelle doesn't float off with all of the rain. Afterall she does weight 40 lbs lighter now.
I need to finish straightening the house. I have to give it a once over b4 they get here. Chat later with you guys.
