Woohoo, a sexy side-by-side!! You're going to love that! I want one of them! I could actually fit it in my kitchen too. I have this amorphous mess of a kitchen, big but odd shaped, almost impossible to make it efficient. For years I have solved the problem by filling up one end with boxes and piles of junk, leaving an inadequate square-like space to be the kitchen. That's why I'm working on a layout. I think I'll upload what I have so you all can puzzle over it too.

I've had the Subway one; that's pretty good. I wish salads weren't so much work, I love to make them myself, but they're a pain. I mean just a plain lettuce-plus type salad isn't a big deal, but adding the tasty stuff always works into a major prepping job.

There's a little guy over on the right column playing space invaders with telephones. I think he is shooting my lost tennis balls at them.

I have converted many a non-chili eater to my chili. I make it from a recipe from Consumer Reports, but with about 1/3 of the heat. Even picky DD loves it.

Lah dee dah. La La.

MMMM. I'm having a plate o' white crap for dinner too, Kiwi. Baked Ziti ala Carmella on the Sopranos. I'm going to go home and put on my warm ups that DS calls my Carmella outfit. Then I'm gonna put in a loaf of white crap in the oven to go w/ the baked ziti. The best part is the baked ziti is all prepared and ready to go in the oven when I get home.

Have you noticed how much of my time I spend talking about what I'm going to eat, or have just eaten?

Soul searching gambling and meditative eating? Sounds good to me....

Geez. One of our service truck drivers just called.... flat tire on the inside lane of the 205 freeway.... DH is off to the rescue.... I hope they're careful, a flat in rush hour traffic is scarey.

The "other" white meat? aaaackkk!

Upload away, Kiwi. I'm sure we can solve whatever kitchen dilemmas you have.

I talked to the land developer guy today.... seems that next summer ('07!!!!) is the soonest we can expect to be moving.... until then, we're in limbo.......... Sometimes I wish we'd never started this. I could be happy in my leetle house I have now. I just hate having everything up in the air.

Yeowww, not dem pen-ga-wins!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, we had homemade noodles (from my first experiment with my handy dandy pasta rolling machine), mushrooms, onions, kielbasa, and broccoli. Not entirely white crap, but mostly nice and fatty.

Well, I'm almost embarrassed to be crowing about my kid again. Almost.
They finally announced the honor parts at the high school. Guess who's the valedictorian? My leetle sweetums! And her bf and one of her friends are co-salutatorians. In past years they used a 4 point grading scale and usually had 3-5 valedictorians, but this year they went to a 100 point scale and leetle Kiwiette, elle est le numéro un. The other 2 were so close that they finally decided to have them share the honor. Cool, no? Lord knows what she's going to say at graduation. I have no idea what to expect: ? ? ? ? At least the principal has to see her speech ahead of time.

My whole house smells like greasy kielbasa. How ever will I stand it...

I'm still trying to get that floor plan to come out well enough to upload. My floor plan software is so ancient it came in a box with a floppy disk and a 5-1/4" floppy!

And the Grammy goes to..... oops! thats after grad school....She's just a rackin' up the honors. You're going to have to build a bigger house just to accomodate all her awards, trophys and such. Anyway, that would be a good excuse.

I think I'll hoist a couple margies in her honor tonight! Anyway that will be a good excuse. Hee.

Here's to good excuses!

Well, I believe Mud Season has arrived here in Frozen Tootsies, Maine. Yucko. Parking the car is a hazardous activity: do you park on the soggy grass and guarantee big new muddy ruts? or do you park in the well-worn rutted areas and step out into the sucking muddy swamp? Oy. I suppose I should be applauding the fact that there is no more ice. Although 2 days ago I drove down a side road that was still thick solid ice. Crazy, man.

Down by the lake there is a sort of log jam of ice chunks, great big sheets of it pushed up on shore, while in other places there are giant dumping grounds of driftwood of all shapes and sizes. Think I could sell it? Maybe I could interest DH in that...

Happy Weekend everyone -- who else is for Margies tonight?

I was just reading an article on Windsor Castle. Remember when there was a devastating fire there? Guess how long ago that was? 5 years? 8 years? Would you believe 14 years ago??? Is this a sign of advanced age, that I think things that happened well over a decade ago are in my recent past?

Okay, here's my kitchen. I didn't put in any of the appliances or furniture on this drawing. It's a huge amount of space, isn't it? Trouble is, you can't do much with it because of the way it's set up. And that alcove -- looks perfect for a breakfast table, right? We used to have it there, but since the space is only 7x7, it's very cramped. Also the 2 windows in that end are 4 feet off the ground!! Totally wrong for an eating space. They're higher than in any other part of the house. I have no idea what the people who put them in were thinking. Maybe they ate standing up.

Okay, so here's what the kitchen actually looks like with all the crap in it that's there now. Isn't that tragic? The real question, besides how on earth am I going to get rid of all that crap, is how to arrange the stuff I actually need to have in there. Don't you wish you had a lovely kitchen like this? Sheesh.

I live to serve.

I find it really difficult to just get started. I either leave it too late in the day to get anything done or something comes up that shoots the day for me. Honestly, if I could just DH out of the house on a regular basis I think I could tackle it. Like today -- I should have just stayed home, but there was a family (in-law) dinner and I couldn't think of a good enough excuse to skip it. There goes the day. And I thought I had one last night, I was rawther sick from something (no need for details), but durn it, I felt fine this morning.

Thanks for the congrats. DH and I took the 3 kids who got honor parts (DD, the BF, and the friend) out for dinner last night. It was a lot of fun. Too bad they didn't give out 4 honor parts -- the BF's twin is 4th in the class. Can you imagine having twin sons doing that well? Their parents are just bursting.

When are you coming up to fix my kitchen, Schatzi?
