Why don't I have one?

garnetfairy 01-29-2006 06:43 PM

Welcome to you Paula!!

My good news is, I went to the gym today to work out did almost an hour and a half...but I couldnt wait until Tuesday for my weigh in since I was there I had to get on the scales and .....I lost 3 more pounds...Tra La

Happy Day everyone!!

oh yeah, for my birthday I am having fat free, sugar free instant chocolate pudding for lunch and fat free, sugar free instant lime jello for dinner...hoorah

Lois - Congrats on your NSV too!

Andrewsmum - come on woman! dont throw in the towel yet!! Your weight loss will come, it has to. Basic math fewer calories eaten, more calories used (exercise) = weight loss. If you have been sick you may be holding more fluids than usual. keep up with your program and weigh a couple of days after you get over your cold...maybe it will show up then. In the mean time, keep drinking your water.

Robsia - You are doing great! May I ask how long you have been on program to get down to size 16 and what program you are on?? Congratulations on your NSV!!

ladylane06 01-29-2006 06:46 PM

I think that is because it is for reporting other peoples posts, not your own.... when I'm logged in, it does not appear under my info either. :)

ladylane06 01-29-2006 06:51 PM

garnetfairy, whoo hoo :dancer: Congrats on the loss and WTG for getting to the gym! ...now you know tomorrow you are going to be SORE! you better soak in a hot bath tonight for sure. I am so PROUD of you girl! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

mama4dmkd 01-29-2006 06:54 PM

Ok thank you! What are your feelings on diet pills? I think if I saw a little weight gone I would stick with it better!:dizzy:

jelynn 01-29-2006 07:01 PM

Gosh, I've been a slacker at posting!
Welcome to all the newbies! This is a great support thread and we're so glad to have others joining on the journey. Together we can do this!

Hope the birthday girls had a great time too! :gift:

I've actually had a great week. Total pms week and I didn't even have cravings this time around! I totally attribute it to exercising and my better diet. I don't think I'll have a big loss tomorrow due to AF, but I'll take it the week after ;)

I've been walking/running on the treadmill and am up to 28 minutes. Walking 4 minutes and then running 2. The first time I did it I think Monday it was sooo hard! But yesterday it wasn't that bad it all! Actually felt great. I'm running super slow, but still getting my heart-rate up and sweating like a pig, lol. I'm planning to do a 5k in June, but who knows- maybe I'll be ready for one the end of March.

Last night I had a planned treat...dh went and got poutine (fries with gravy and melted cheese for you non-Canadians) and a blizzard. I had a very small portion of the fries and only a couple bites of the blizzard. Tasted good, but I was back on track this morning with a big glass of water and healthy breakfast. I was pretty proud of myself as it wasn't that long ago I would have eaten LOTS more with no thought of it.

What's everyone cooking this week? That's a tough one for me as I still need to cook for my family...needing ideas. I am just eating less at whatever I make though so I guess that's a start/

Hope everyone has an awesome week! We can do this!!:carrot:

ladylane06 01-29-2006 07:05 PM

Honestly... I don't even like taking asprin! I have tried some of everything to lose weight short of taking pills. I was tempted at one time but never got around to it, so to speak, then they started reporting heart problems associated with those particular pills. Some take diet pills as an added tool in losing weight, but I think it really boils down to a psychological thing.... you take the pill because you hope it will work and you want it to work, therefore you become more conscience of what you are eating.... they may speed up your heart rate and you will probably feel energized, but you can get that from exercise :) I think the bottom line is that you do what is comfortable and what works for you.

mama4dmkd 01-29-2006 07:08 PM

Thank You!

ladylane06 01-29-2006 07:12 PM

Emily, wow, congrats on the exercise :dancer: ...you are just moving right along. It is amazing how quickly our endurance can build up! Great will power on the treats. We have something similar here, but it's chili and cheese on the fries and they are good, but I haven't had a taste for them in a long while. :carrot:

Lois - Thanks!!

mama4dmkd - My cousin is a pharmacist and I asked him about diet pills and he says they are not good for you and can cause a lot of problems including addiction.

jelynn - what is AF? Wow, you run on the treadmill, You must be close to goal or something. I would be afraid I would break the treadmill or break me. I've almost fallen off twice just walking.

Lori - I just recently got over the bug that has been going around and I weighed today and lost 3 pounds so maybe your chicken soup diet will do the same for you. (mine was tomato soup).

Cheryl120 01-29-2006 10:28 PM

Garnetfairy....Happy Birthday to YOU!! WOW! You did good working out at the gym. :carrot: :carrot: I'm so proud of you, and 3 lbs gone for good. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Bet that chased your blues away.

Deb and Paula...:welcome: We are a fun group, and I think of everyone here as my friend. I get so much support and couldn't do this journey with out them. So welcome.

Paula....I've gone the diet pill route under a doctors supervision, and I lost a lot of weight. But I put that weight right back on, and then some because I never learned portion control or making exercise a part of my day. Now I'm following Weight Watcher and exercising at least 5 days a week. With the pills, I was constantly on the GO, and lived on diet Tab. What ever you do, we are hear for you, but you need to take each day as it comes...Set small goals for yourself...Make exercising a part of your routine everyday.:carrot: :carrot:

Teri...Glad you are back posting, I missed you. Glad you are still on track.

Lois...I'm so happy for your 2 lbs gone, gone, gone!!! :carrot: :carrot: You are doing GREAT!!

It was another good day staying on program for me. I did wake up with an upset stomach, but it passed. I'm so glad for that. My foster daughter had the flu on Friday, and I want it to stay away from me!!!!
I have drank so much water today, I feel water logged.:D But, it just washes that nasty fat out of our bodys:D
I'm not going to weigh till Wednesday when I go to WW. Tomorrow night we are taking our foster daughter out for her birthday dinner. She would like Mexican, but we are going to Applebees, so I will stay on program. If I had to look at chips and salsa, I'd be eating, and it wouldn't be a few chip either.

Stay strong everyone.

Cheryl

garnetfairy 01-29-2006 10:35 PM

Thank you Cheryl....congrats on staying on program....
About mexican - you can tell them to take the chips away or not bring them in the first place and fajitas without the tortillas are a good low carb meal. i dont know about the points though .

happy Birthday to your foster daughter!!

jelynn 01-29-2006 11:07 PM

Lori- get better soon!

garnetfairy- "AF" is aunt flow or time of the month (TOM)...
And NO not even close to goal, in fact this week will be week #3, lol. I am about 231 lbs and running verrrrrrry slowly (like 4.8mph). But it feels good and hopefully will help with the weightloss!

Well, I'm off to watch some TV with dh. Later! :)

LadyLai 01-30-2006 12:22 AM

Happy Sunday!

Wow, good evening ladies or shall I say good night?! So much posting has happened this weekend. It's about 20 to 10 here and I'm just settling down after a good weekend. It all started friday, right away my sister comes in with the biggest spread of kentucky. I would like everyone to know I DID NOT even taste a crumb! BIG, HUGE victory for me cause I LOVE KFC!! Then she comes with icecream for everyone about 8:30pm, I watched everyone lick theirs while I'll sipped on IceWater. So I was very pleased with myself. But I didn't get to walk that evening. SAT. I also missed walking. We were all out and about, went out to dinner to celebrate my moms and aunts birthdays. I had grilled chicken and roasted potatoes. I told the waiter is was my moms birthday so he brought a piece for her, I took one fork full, and that was the end of the cake dilema. I ate out twice today :( lunch I had grilled chicken (Again!) with steamed veggies and rice. Supper I had soup at the Japenese rest. which I think I said before was made out of buckwheat noodles and lean slices of beef. (buckwheat is really healthy for you, despite its name it is a member of the rubarb family and has nothing to do with wheat - so low fat, carb, cal, etc...) I walked once today, this morning. It felt so gooOOOood after missing sat. I haven't lost much this week, but I think that is due to my Aunt Flo knocking on the door. I'm down 16lbs. so far since starting my new life. I'm planning to really go gung-ho this week to get past this weekend, and get ready for my birthday in another week or so.

There has been so many posts since friday, I have quite a bit of catching up to do!

Lori, congrats on the 5lbs. That's awesome! BTW- Thanks for the kind words! Sorry to hear you're under the weather, feel better soon!

cheryl, glad you had a good day in Fargo. Your soup sounded delic ious. Great staying on target at your foster daughters birthday. I know how challenging that can be!

Lois, thanks for the links. I really got a lot out of "the way dieting works", really puts it into perspective. The pants are a great feeling eh! Way to go on the 2lbs!

Robsia, you'll have to post the recipe for the choco chip cookies. I'm a freak for them! and only 92cals! Thanks also for the kind words. I am totally inspired by you, I can't wait to get to one-derland! Congratulations! I did the same thing with buying 10 dollar pants! I have a pair I bought a couple of weeks ago. My fat was popping through the zipper area, I couldn't get it even close to zipping. Now I can zip them up but I look like a balloon nipped on one end! I spill over the top, maybe another 10lbs.

Garnetfairy, glad you got through your rough day on the 28th with a 3lb loss!

Linda, welcome fellow canadian! You'll love it here, a lot of a great ladies who offer the best support.

Bren, welcome! Looking forward to getting to know you.

AndrewsMum, these are the most important words I'll ever say to you. STAY IN THERE! I remained the same for almost a week straight. I think your body needs time to adjust. We are all going to go thru these stages maybe even more than once!

Deb,
welcome! Jump right in and make yourself comfortable!

Teri, it's so good to hear from you again. Welcome back! Glad to hear you've kept on project with your eating. Don't worry, the exercise will come back to you when you're ready.

Welcome Paula! Day one is a great place to start, looks like you have done good with getting your exercise already!

Emily, the running and walking on the treadmill sounds great! I wouldn't mind giving that a try to see if I can burn a few extra calories. Truly inspiring, thanks!

PHEw!! well girls, I'm beat! I'm going to go to bed a little earlier tonight. Have a great one!

Stay strong and be powerful!
~Tina
