I'm so HAPPY this morning! I had 2 hard workouts yesterday and when I weighed in this morning, I have finally, finally, FINALLY broken my plateau! Woohoo! :carrot:

I'm off to workout - Check you ladies in a bit!
Have a FANTASTIC FRIDAY!

LadyLai 02-10-2006 12:02 PM

Happy Friday!

Good morning chickies! Yesterday I really pushed myself on the treadmill. I usually walk on sp. 3 for 30 minutes going a distance of 1.5 miles burning 155 calories. I managed to sprint/run on sp. 6 a few times and I went 1.66 miles, burned 191 calories in 30 minutes. The plus is that I'm not that sore this morning, but I was lastnight!

Paula, thanks for the survival tips! I must say getting my mom on a bike would be halarious!! (planning family activites) The last time I got her on a bike she was in the ditch more times than she went straight. We were just talking about it last weekend that we should try again (she visits every weekend), she said if she could get an adult size tricycle she would. Now there's a picture! :D

AndrewsMum, it's nice to see that your feeling better and getting back on track. Looks like your ready to get down and dirty with excercise. Go gettem' girl! Thanks for the birthday wishes. The real test comes this weekend when mom comes, she always comes with a chocolate cake that's so rich it sticks to the roof of your mouth! For this year, I enjoyed hubbys version. Next year, I may be a little more leanient. :p

stayce, you're making me even more anxious for the BL dvd! :D I would have thought it would be here in Canada by now also. Last weekend I checked in Walmart for the ?? time! I finally built up the nerve to ask for it for fear of overlooking it. (I was too embarassed to ask b4, cuz I didn't want them to look me up and down and think in their head, "girl, you be needing it!") :o But they told me that they couldn't give me a date, cuz they didn't get a date from whoever sends this stuff. And there was no way in finding out. I was D-R-A-I-N-E-D! :( So now I resorted to going to Walmart.CA and comparing it to Walmart.COM. On Walmart.COM it says its in stock but can't find it on Walmart.CA. I guess that is how I'll know it's in. I don't feel comfortable with ordering it online, never did like the idea of giving a credit card #.

Anyways, I must be going to the mill! I'll check back later!
~Tina

Robsia 02-10-2006 12:29 PM

Oh I was a good girl today!!!

One of the girls at work is leaving and today was her last day and she brought in cream cakes for all the staff!!!!

Everyone else was stuffing themselves with eclairs and doughnuts etc all the time complaining that there were so many calories and they would never lose weight this way and I sat there with my glass of water feeling smug that I had willpower and they didn't!!

*sigh*

OK - a cream cake would have been nice but right now the desire to be slim outweighs the desire to eat the cream cake.

*is proud*

mama4dmkd 02-10-2006 01:16 PM

Good For You!!!!

 Robsia-That is just GREAT!:cp: You should be proud, to me that is just a Huge accomplishment! I have the most trouble controlling myself when I am in public!

Tina- somehow or another I missed the post about your birthday! :woo: I Hope you had a wonderful day! Happy belated birthday! I have bought stuff off the net before, but I understand your feeling! You can go to Wal-mart.com and they will ship it to your local store the shipping is free! But you probably have to still pay for it online! Do you have a debit card? They are suppose to be more secure than a credit card!

I moved my weigh in day to Thursday! I am soooo embarassed! My son brought the scales in the living room and I got on them! I was sooo happy they said 212! I said oh this is just great! Then a little while later my daughter want to weigh her self and i know she weighs 19.7lbs but when she stepped on the scales she only weighed 14lb! So needless to say I didn't weigh 212!!!! I didn't know you couldn't weigh on the carpet!! I am down to 227 though! That is 2 lb! Woo-Hoo!!! Just not as good as I thought!!!

Anyway HAPPY day to all! :grouphug:

TGIF

I have had a heck of a time getting on here. Last night the page just was so slooooow loading, and when I tried earlier today... same thing. At first I thought it was my ISP, but dismissed that when other pages were loading just fine. I'm glad it's working fine now!

Paula, Congrats on the loss! ...and great post on the survival tips... thanks

Stacye, congrats on breaking that plateau. :cheer: I know how exciting and motivating that can be... not only for you, but for us too! So keep up the great work! :carrot:

Tina, Happy belated birthday. :woo: Your hubby was so thoughtful with the angelfood cake. I'm glad you had a good b-day Great job on the treadmill workout :dancer: I knew you could do it!

Robsia, :cheer: you did great! You should be proud of yourself! I don't know that I could have been that strong...

I'm still at it with the exercise and last night with I did my WATP 2 mile, it was the best workout so far. I can't believe that when I got to the end I was sweating like crazy but I was not winded at all! This is a HUGE accomplishment being that I have asthma... I guess my airways were pretty clear last night  ...no matter what the case, it felt great! :dancer: This week I've switched my workouts from the mornings to the evenings. I haven't decided which I like better yet. :dizzy: I suppose it doesn't matter, just as long as I do it!

I'll check back later... keep up the good work everyone and let's keep the motivation going!

:grouphug:

Hello out there . . . I'm not having a really great day today, (diabetes related problems :( ) but, never fear, I will get over it. Nothing keeps me down for long. :)

Oh Tina . . . I so know how you feel. We are soooo sloooooow in getting things in Canada sometimes. I'm not sure if you could order it from Walmart.com for delivery to a Canadian store. You might want to inquire at your local store. Sometimes ordering from the US can get pretty costly because Canada Customs likes to tack on taxes, duties, and special fees.

Paula . . . Your post contains a lot of good advice. Planning ahead is definitely not one of my strong points.

Andrewsmum . . . Stability ball? I need someone to hold it stable? Once saw a frame-like thing to keep it in when not using it. I wonder if you could actually make use of it while in that frame? Congrats on the real loss. Give that mean old carpet demon  a swift kick for that false reading.

Robsia . . . Wow, is that willpower of yours soon going to be on the market in a pill-form? You will make a fortune, girl. I'd gladly pay Canada Customs all the fees it wants to get that overseas delivery. Very impressive!

Stayce . . . Just dump chocolate chips into your favourite biscuit recipe. The very best thing (IMO) in chocolate chips mixed into my favourite home-made shortbread. Unfortunately, with or without the chocolate, shortbread cannot be considered a "diet" food. You can seriously reduce the fat and sugar in just about anything you bake --- but not shortbread.

Have a great weekend, if I don't see you before. Keep up the great work everybody. :carrot:

Cheryl120 02-10-2006 09:55 PM

Stacye....Yeah your broke your plateau. So happy for you. :carrot: :carrot:

Tina...Great job on the exercising.:tread: Wish I had your energy. LOL

Robsia...So proud of your willpower. Doughnuts :hun: sounds soooo yummy, but being thinner is better. :D

Paula...:woo: on your 2 pounds gone forever.

Lois...Good job on the exercising. :ebike: Just squeezing and sweating all those fat cells out. WTG!

Linda...Sorry to hear you are having problems with your diabetis. My husband is having problems as well. He can't get his blood sugar below 140, and he doesn't want to go on insulin. :( Hope you feel better soon.

I have had a very good day even though the weather here was close to blizzard condition. I needed to get the porch shoveled off, but the wind took care of that. :D Exercise was cleaning and mopping floors today, getting the wash done, so I can relax the rest of the weekend. Stayed within my points, and when I had a sweet tooth attack  I had a couple WW mini bars for 1 point each. I just can't bare to eat another veggie today. :p
Hope we all have a good weekend and stay on program.

Big  to you all,

Cheryl

NEW MEMBER needs support!!!!!

Hi there,

I'm new to TFC and very interested in buddying, I'm new to the site and have 127lb to lose (phew)!!!:?:
I am 43yrs, married with a son(22) and daughter(17), and live in Hampshire(UK).
I started on the GI diet two weeks ago and am finding it the best plan I've tried to date.
If any others out there would like to swop ideas and encouragement, then count me in!
I think this site is a great idea, as not everyone around me need to lose the weight, and support can be such a boost:hug:

Robsia 02-11-2006 06:16 AM

Hi britchick - welcome to the board!!

I have found this forum to be a great support through the tricky bits, you can come and vent and moan and everyone is so supportive!! This is the mot I've lost in years of trying since 1997, when I hit my alltime low, only to put it all back on again and more. Been trying to lose it ever since, but with the girls' help, I might just do it this time.

Well, I finally broke my plateau and lost 0.6 this morning. It's not much but I'll take it!!

I have got a new toy too - I bought myself a new laptop so i can sit downstairs and surf. I did have a very old laptop but I bought ot off ebay a few years ago and it is very very old and slow. My daughter can't even play her games on it because it can't cope with them so the new laptop is for her also. Well, it belong to me but she can use it! She was all for claiming it as hers when I bought it but I made it clear it was mine!!

Anyway, that's my non-diet related news ;)

lola06 02-11-2006 06:21 AM

These stories are so awesome. What keeps you all motivated throughout the weight loss process?

Robsia 02-11-2006 06:31 AM

Well, right now, the motivation is the desire to be slim.

People diet successfully when the desire to lose weight is stronger than the desire to eat the bad stuff. People go off the wagon when the desire to eat the bad stuff is stronger than thedesire to be slim.

Both desires are there, it's just than one is stronger than the other at any one time.
