 YEAH!!! CURLY'S CAT IS HOME!!!
So glad to hear that Mallie came back!!! I'm with you on the breakaway collar though, can't have that happen again. Lisa.....Sending you ~~happy thoughts for your scale~~!!! Just for luck, I'm also sending you a happy carrot :carrot: hehe.... Petra.....Can't say I've ever had chipped beef before, but it sounds good. Hey, I'd come over for a meal with anything you cook!! Poor you and poor Kobe. He's just like a wee babe waking up all night.....How do you ever get your rest? |
yea angel-my 100 lb baby who can be very persistent when he doesn't get what he wants. Sometimes I am absolutely exhausted from him waking me up at night and other nights he's pretty good but we rarely have a night he makes it all the way through.
For all you nut lovers, I'm trying out a new nut recipe. This one is a Dana Carpender slow cooker one. It looks and smells awesome. I'll let you know how it turns out. I found out we are having trick or treat tomorrow night so I better pick up whatever I'm giving out tomorrow. Probably raisins or granola bars or something with some nutritional value to them. A lot of people at work said they were giving out pretzels so I guess I'm not the only one who feels this way. I'm so glad I have tomorrow off but I think I really need about a week off. I'm really getting burned out. |
The nuts are fantastic. Here's the recipe if anyone else is interested.
1 lb pecans 1 stick of butter, melted 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground ginger 1/4 tsp allspice 1/2 cup splenda Put pecans in slow cooker, pour melted butter over them. Toss to coat. Then put in splenda and spices. Toss to make sure everything is well mixed. Turn slow cooker on high for 30 minutes, then take the lid off and turn on low for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Mix a couple times as you walk by. MMMMMMM!! 8 sevings (2 oz each) 304 calories, 32 g fat, 6 g carbs, 3 g fiber, 2 g protein |
Awwww Curley! I'm so glad your kitty is home. I remember how wonderful it was when my Annie finally showed up. She had been gone for weeks and I had actually given up on her coming back. It's the most wonderful feeling when you hear that voice!
Oh Petra, now I'm in a quandry lol... which nut recipe to try? They both sound good. The slow cooker one sounds like it will make the house smell really sweet too.. hmmmmmm decisions, decisions..... Get some well deserved rest PIC heya (((Val)))... *wavin from Cali*.. Things a little noisey out your way these days? Lisa~ I"m not gonna even get candy this year. We haven't had a trick or treater in the 4 years I've lived here, so I'm gonna stop using that old excuse lol.. If Lee wants candy he can just go to town and get some himself *nods* Glad to hear you're doing good :) AngelEyes~ Shoutin out a Hey to you too!! And Jennie, Zoey,Turtle & Momx3 too! Hi everyone! Having a good day here. I almost broke down and ordered pizza since my back hurt after my treatment today but I didn't!
We had a crazy night here with the Sox winning. Fireworks all night. On the subject of halloween I got 100 glowsticks for the kids. You can get them on ebay pretty cheap! Much less then oriental trading! I hope everyone has a good night :) |
Thats a fantastic idea Valerie!!! I bet all the kids LOVE your house. I'll have to remember that next year. :)

Good morning ladies. No weight loss to report this morning. I'll try again on Halloween day. I haven't been able to go to the gym all week because of my ankle. I also haven't been able to get my elastic brace yet either. Hope to do that today. The electrician is here already and cutting holes in dry wall. Oh what lovely sounds.
I went back and put in the nutritional information on the nut recipe for you all. Dana Carpender has several of those in her slow cooker cookbook that I plan to try out over the coming weeks like butter spice almonds, maple walnuts, and curried pecans. I'll let you know which ones are good. I'm thinking about making butternut squash soup today. I would have thought this had too many carbs but it actually isn't too bad--about 10 grams per cup. If that is all or most of the carbs for your meal, that is certainly acceptable. I have to get ready to go off to the doctor soon. Yes, the doctor has to go see the doctor. I imagine she'll send me for my first yearly mammogram too since I turn the big 4-0 this year. I've had a couple already for specific reasons but this year I have to start the yearly ones. The joys of getting old. TTYL |
Hey Ladies, I wrote this post last night but I can't find it. Did anyone see it. I swear I hit submit. OH well, I don't think there was much in it.
I got the Winning by losing book. I have been browsing it. and started to read the first few chapters. She says not to use the BMI but your waist to hip ration. Mine is exactly what she says it should be but I know I need to lose a lot of weight still. I think I have the same ration as Marilyn Monroe who was a size 12, Kate Moss who is a size 0. So I dont' really understand what that means. Curly, what else do you do to get the fat percentage from that ratio, just the ratio doesn't seem right. Anyway, I'm looking forward to readying more this weekend. Oh yeah, ITS FRIDAY!!!! I'm excited as always, but the weekend go by so fast. ttyl Jennie |
Just a quick hello to everyone. I have officially joined the TOPs Program. I just got the book "The Choice Is Mine" so I have been reading that, and getting a sense of what I want, what is achievable for me, and what is sensible and reasonable.
I miss you all so much. Hugs to all! I am going to join your Turkey Take-Off or whatever you call it..if you are still doing that challenge. Congrats to all my 'loser' PIC divas! I will post soon, just trying to get through the day, and come up with a plan for myself because I WANT THIS SO MUCH. I can do this, with a little help from my PICs, of course. Bless you all!! L2L |
Hi,all!
I know I've been missing in action for about a week but I started a new job and my internet service at home is down until next week. So far I've lost 10 lbs and I feel great! My new job has a gym so I work out everyday on my lunch break. I'm so proud if myself because I've passed the normal quitting phase that I go through with flying colors. So for anyone who's struggling out there. Don't give up! You can do it! |
Mornin' Ladies,
L2L....Glad to hear that you are trying TOPS. Valerie....No pizza! Good for you! Petra....Old at 40? I don't think so. You are the same age as my baby. Don't you know that "Life begins at 40"? It is true that old age isn't for sissies, but you aren't there yet! jhiraqua....Welcome back. I was wondering where you had gone. Ten pounds gone! Good for you! zoey |
G'morning
Good morning. So how are my Partners In Crime, my sisters in sweat, my buddies in the battle of the bulge? :grouphug: I've not been able to force myself to journal (the journals are weird lately, anyone else notice that?) so this is a mandatory post to keep me from hiding. :comp:
My diet is too salty, but no "all out binges" (yet) my water and exercise is nonexistant. Too many Diet A&W root beers. I've been using the excuse of my sprained and now Arthritic knee to not exercise. But truly, it's feeling better. I didn't walk with my cane yesterday. The only thing is the weird popping noises that haven't been there before and the way it "comes apart" when I take my weight off of it to step forward. It's scary, but not actually painful. But still, I'm afraid one of these times when I step down, it'll blow out. But I can't live in fear of that or I'll never walk or go anywhere care free. My uniform pants have been so tight that last couple of nights. :headache: :tired: I didn't know my big doughy belly could actually bloat (it's so soft, pliable and "hangy down" I didn't think it could fill back out). The inside of my pockets are showing and it's quite uncomfortable. It could be that it's TOM, it could be some bloat from too much sodium, or the fact that I finally got myself back on all my vitamins and supplements or even the possibility of the NEW meds bloating me. But regardless, I have to get back to losing weight or I'll have to ask them to order more uniforms for me. :bomb: That would be horrible and humiliating. I'm pleased that I've not packed on a bunch of weight (at least I don't THINK I have... but I've not been on the scale) but I'm discouraged that it's so hard to get back to it. But nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight. I guess I'm just not in the mood for a fight right now, but that's too bad. It's time to fight. Ding ding! :tantrum: :wl: :censored: :sumo: The computer at work boots me off when I get emails (AOL) but 3FC is fine. So I'm there (lurking and cruising) most of the evening (when I'm not playing stupid, mind numbing games to pass the time). So I'll look for new posts and hopefully find news from all my PIC's. Heck, even PM me... that would rock. :carrot: Peace and the best of luck to you all. Happy week end and Happy Halloween! :) |
hey guys... at work .. and its sooooooo slow today! geez i sit here and think of a zillion things i could b doing...err ahh would like to be doing... come on 5 pm!

I survived the doctor visit. Got my slip for a mammogram and to get my cholesterol checked. I guess I really know how old I am now. They were impressed with my weight loss from last year and asked what I was doing. I tried to get my ankle brace but they didn't have one in the right size so they have to order one and it won't be in until Monday. I'm really bummed about that and I can't just go to another pharmacy or my insurance won't cover it.
I've been pretty productive today. I put all the outside stuff away for the winter--hose, clothes line, etc. and even got the snow shovel and rock salt out. Isn't that a scarey thought? I also got the closets cleaned out and have been to the grocery store and the dry cleaner. I decided on yogurt covered raisins for trick or treat because they came in nice sealed up boxes and looked half way healthy but you won't believe this. They have TRANS FAT in them!!!! I can't win! Oh well, I tried. I'm planning on going clothes shopping tomorrow. The electrician ate into my clothing budget but fortunately he got done sooner than expected so I saved some money. I'm also pretty frugal with clothes shopping-I drive an hour to go to the outlets. It's a pain if you have to return anything so I make sure I try everything on while I"m there. |
