SPOOKTACULAR WEIGH IN: no drum roll for me... i stayed the same 241

Lisa_WY 10-17-2005 08:14 AM

Hi Everyone,
Not letting myself get down about my weigh ins. I KNOW this is only tempoary while my body adjusts. I am going to change my meeting day. I have never been happy with that leader and basically only went to WI. I rarely stayed for the meetings. The Saturday AM meeting had way too many people. This meeting just started a few weeks ago so maybe it is a lot smaller. I also think with WI on Monday's will keep me more honest on the weekends. LOL

I made WW magic soup last night. It is basically a veggie soup...very good. DH and M both loved it. Have some for lunch today.

Turtle: Happy Bday to you!!! Hope you had a great one.

Thanks Petra and Iwmonn..I know this is only temporary and it is so much healtier and I will make it through this.

Petra: I thought I would be right with you guys when you hit onderland. I will make it there just not by Halloween. :mad:

Curly: Better to stay the same than gain a whopping 8.6lns in 2 weeks. Funny thing I put on pants I bought a few weeks ago and the waist is big and the butt is baggy. LOL SO I guess that gain really changed me. LOL

Jennie: I thought about trying core but I really like the flex plan. I am not sure I could trust myself on core.

Angel: I love to sew and yes I will post M's pic when I am done. I am hoping I get time to finish the dress..I probably will be up 1/2 the night Friday. LOL

Well..everyone have a great day!! I will check back in later.
Lisa

Hey Gals,
Ok, the weekend is over thank goodness, it is always the hardest part of the week, food wise. Got out and got my jog on. I have been doing this route, 1 mile on the main street to the park, then if I have a long time, around the park which is 2 miles, but if I don't (most weekdays), just around the observatory which is 1 mile, but since its been getting darker and darker, I'm a little sketched out about goiong around the observatory because there aren't any street lights and almost everytime, there are people up there parked in the their cars at like 7 in the morning so today, I stayed on the main road which is cool because even though its dark out, there are tons of people waiting for busses, and going to school and work so I'm not alone. Anyway, point of the story, the new way is pretty much flat which living in Pittsburgh is a very unique thing, we are the 2nd hilliest city int he country. Its was so much easier than doing the park which is a way steap hill. So yeah me, I ran straight for an hour, and it wasn't hard!

I went off plan last night, I ate at my parents and they had dessert and i had some :(. oh well today is a new day, I'll get back on.

My pants are so beat, they are literally wearing to threads so I decided to go and get some more but, sadly, I'm still not a size smaller and I refuse to buy 16 again. I was really hopeing I would be able to fit the 14 or a not plus size 16 but sadly I could not. Oh well, keep plugging.

Petra, when I decscribe core to people, I ussually say its like south beach but w/out the phases. Most people kind of know about south beach so its an easy thing to use as a guide. I bet you will make it fist, you have been losing faster and more consistantly. It has taken me almost a year to get this far. I hope I hit it onederland soon though!

Ok, got to get to work, hope eveyone has a good day.
Jennie

I was reading an article on the GI diet (gylcemic index BY Gallop) and they were asking about a slow rate of weight loss... and they said if u take your total loss and divide by the amount of time u have been on program... u will be suprized to see that u really are losing at a good rate... i guess those 4 lb weeks and the week with no loss average out to the recommened 1.5 or so a week ...

SO dont be discouraged eventually it will all even out!!! just stay focused and keep at it!!!!! :cheer:

We have 2 spookacular weeks left so lets go get em!!!

Good Morning everyone!

I haven't had any birthday cake yet, but it is still lurking in the frige. I haven't lost any more weight either. Guess that I had better get out for a walk. I walked Mon-Sat last week and then didn't get much sleep Sat night. I was really beat yesterday and did very little after church.

jhiraqua....How are you doin' today?

angel....Glad to hear that there was no bonding with the iron.

iwmonn....Broken oven hmmm? Whatever works!

lisa_wy....Happy sewing and hang in there!

jennie934....Sorry about the pants. Glad that you are back OP. You will hit onederland soon.

Hello :wave:to everyone else.

zoey

I survived

I managed to live through my quadruple shift. It was sort of scary, but easier than I thought (or I got lucky). The football game was so freakin' awesome. We were getting "SPANKED" and a lot of fans left, but we came back and after THREE over-times, won! I was screaming and pounding my fists on my desk. And then the mayhem started. I made it home at midnight before the worst stuff happened and I didn't seem any extra tired, but yesterday, it caught up with me. I dressed up and waited for Pooh, but he over slept and didn't get here until one. Went to the funeral home across the road because an old friend's Mother passed away and then we went to Garfields for my b-day dinner and Jay had spent all his money on gas, so I had to buy. Bought two pumpkins at Walmart to carve at my sister's house today, then I fell asleep on the way home. Pooh left me sleeping in his truck while he pottied and changed his clothes, then I came in and changed too. I watched a little TV and for my "cake" Jay made me PanCAKES. LOL Today we're carving pumpkins at my sister's house and then Jay Pooh's parents are taking us out to dinner. I'm still sleepy from my shifts, but none the worse for wear I guess. Unless you count the two pounds I've gained. But I'm thinking that's TOM sneaking up on me. We'll see. Today I'm eating what I want again and then it's back to the grind. Sorry if my absence worried anyone, I'm okay and I'm BACK ;)

angel-eyes 10-17-2005 04:29 PM

Hey Hotcup's here!!! HELLOOOO. Glad to hear you survived your crazy work shifts. Thats unreal!! Pancakes, mmmm my favourite. Anytime someone wants to cook... is a good thing!! I picked up the pumpkins today also. We'll wait to carve them though, as the boys keep changing their designs up until the last minute. lol Take care and thanks for checking in.....enjoy your dinner out tonight.

curlylocks 10-17-2005 04:42 PM

save the insides of the pumpkin... and make pumpkin butter (like apple butter) yummm then lets have it on some wheat pancakes!!!!!!!!

angel-eyes 10-17-2005 06:51 PM

Pumpkin butter? hmmm, the only thing I know what to do with the seeds.....are to seperate them from the slimy guts and toast them in the oven with a bit of salt. Instant snack!!

petra65 10-17-2005 08:07 PM

Apparently there are lots of great recipes for those small pumpkins if you have the patience to hack them up. I'm not sure I'd want to go through all that work.

Iwmonn-I didn't get a chance to rave about the Four Corners Diet to you. It isn't well known which is unfortunate in my opinion. The doctors who wrote this diet/book wrote it to help themselves and their patients get healthy, not to get rich--unlike the authors of other well known diet books, so it hasn't been widely marketed. That's why you might actually have to order it at Borders or Barnes and Noble. They score bonus points in my opinion for that. They are also the only low carb diet doctors who have actually done REAL medical research on their diet to prove that it does exactly what they say it does for you in terms of weight loss and cholesterol, etc. If you read the other books, they will tell you what other people's research says about why their diet should be good your health, and they may have testimonials, but no real REAL research. Lastly, a lot of these books are really heavy on the science. This one includes all the basics but is written so well that even someone with a high school education could understand it. I really can't say enough good things about this book. If you get this, you should share it with your doctor. I bet if more doctors knew about this diet, they would be recommending it to all their patients with metabolic syndrome/insulin resistance.

Pumpkin Butter

This makes your whole house smell good when it's cooking!

INGREDIENTS:

* 2 1/2 cups fresh pumpkin; cooked and mashed or pureed
* 3/4 cup sugar( i would use splenda)
* 1/4 cup of apple cider or orange juice
* 2 1/2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice or:
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
* 1/4 teaspoon allspice
* 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

PREPARATION:
Combine all ingredients in a heavy pan. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes OR cook in a slow oven for several hours until the mixture thickens. Cool and refrigerate. This makes about 2 cups.

Good Evening or Morning Partners (depending when you are reading this)..

mind you based on the map Curly made us I would think it is probably morning since most of you are out east east except for my fellow west coaster Iwmonn.

I would love to stay and chat; however, I have 70 pages to read before hitting the pillow... or maybe I hit the pillow early and get up early. I function so much better in the early hours !

Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday, drink a glass of water for me and keep on keeping on !!

Hi Ladies!

Wow, lots of posts today and everyone is sounding great! I had a good day today (it being my friday and all- woooHOOOO). Went grocery shopping after work and had a good looking cart until........*insert the scarey music here*....... I got hubby some donut holes and mini candy bars, lol cuz I refuse to bake for him these days. Well, guess what happened? I was hungry when I got home and while I was getting dinner ready I ate 3 lil candy bars and 2 donut holes... grrrrrrr I'm disappointed. I strive so hard all day and in a moment of weakness I blow it. Might as well had that croissant sandwich with the wasabi mayo on it for lunch huh?? Ohhhh well... tomorrow is a new day and I'll do better.

Petra~ after I posted last night I did a little research on that book. I read several glowing reviews. Thanks for mentioning it. I saw my nutritionist today in the store and while talking to her (of course) I forgot to mention it. I'm going to put it on the top of my wish list and will hopefully get it soon.

AngelEyes~ LOL I don't think it takes much ESP to figure out the universal need to take up as much bed as is available on any given night! Hope you sleep well ;)

Curley~ Thanks for putting up a pic. Now I don't feel so lonely on the frapple map lol... I enjoy putting a face to the people I meet on line. So leave me up there. oh, and i'm going to try the pumpkin butter tomorrow. It sounds awesome.

LisaWY~ Changing your meeting may just be the ticket! Good luck with it. I'm happy to see you sounding optomistic again!

Jennie~ Running straight, circles or in place ... however, for an hour is impressive to me! Wherever you run, just be safe!

Turtle~ Glad to see you again! I hope you are well rested by now. It sounds like quite the evening for your birthday. Pancakes~ what a way to celebrate. How nice of him to think of making them for you!

Zoey~ Good Job ignoring that cake! Was it this group where I saw the hint to put a "BAD CAKE" sign on the cake pan. Just a little reminder to yourself if you're tempted. Hmmmmm I think I'll be making a "BAD DONUT HOLE" sign shortly lol.

TEB~ I noticed the west coast is a little bit short of people too. I always feel so lonely with my posts at nite after the rest are probably already in bed lol.

So, farewell to you all tonight. Hope you have good days! Good luck and :grouphug:

curlylocks 10-18-2005 07:22 AM
