Lisa-There is a Biggest Loser Forum under Dieting Central. Jillian posts on one of the threads there. I think people are hoping she will post on other threads too but so far that hasn't happened.

Mom-great to see you back and still losing. I don't know what to tell you about the cheating thing. I have not done it because I think it would be disasterous for me personally. I think the Dr. tells you what to do in the book if you cheat and I think you have to go back to the beginning for awhile so maybe you need to think about whether or not going back to phase 1 for a week or 2 is worth it? Have you made the sweet nuts recently? or some sugar free jello? I made a sugar free cheesecake over the weekend for a family gettogether and those kinds of things seem to help keep me on the straight and narrow.

Welcome to Valerie. Just jump right in.

Where is curly today? We've almost always heard from her by now?

iwmonn-hope you feel better soon. I"m glad your hubby is being so supportive of you and recognizing that bringing junk into the house is sabotage.

angel--and knowledge is power!

I'm not usually a reality TV fan but I'm going to watch TBL tonight. Now that I've read Jillian's book and her posts I feel like I should watch the show.

Hope to hear from all the PIC divas later.

hi guys!

well i got off work at 2 today ... 3rd time was the charm.. and chai got his shots today!!!

Also.. when i adopted Mallie ( my missing cat) from the humane society... she was microchipped... but seeing as i live in the sticks and she is an indoor cat.. and procrastination.. i never registered her chip #, so i am tearing the house apart lookin for her papers and no chip info. :( so i do find a little note a lady from the humane society had sent me with her 1st rabies tag.. and a phone number... so i called and they were able to pull her file and give me her micro chip number.. so i call and had her # registered in my name......

then since i had a vet appt. for the dog, i made up flyers for the vets office, to post in the back for the vet techs in case someone ever takes her in to the vet, with her chip # and picture on it..

tomorrow i am going to distribute the flyer to all the vets (well we only have 4) just in case... I really do believe someone has taken her... which i cant understand.. shes a plain old tabby cat.. i cant understand how someone could just take another persons pet... (cry)

well 4 days with no circuit training, and eating more calories and i feel like crap :( Oh and i stopped by the library cuz they called and said Jillian Michaels book ahad come in for me... so ive skimmed it but will go read it...

Welcome Valerie Wonderful to have u join us!!

Curly-I"m so sorry about your kitty. I hope she shows up. Once when I was a kid, our cat wandered off for a week and then just showed up on the doorstep one day like nothing happened. I can't imagine losing one of my babies. Fortunately, it is hard to steal a 100 lb dog and not get noticed.

I watched TBL last night. It is a very emotional show. I see they solved the men lose more weight than women problem. I also see what you mean about them having too much focus on the exercise part. I would agree. I think it was also a bad idea to have that part where they had to eat unhealthy things. That is almost like asking a junky who is trying to quit to shoot up. There is also perhaps too much focus on the scale. I guess they have to have something to measure but we all know that we can do everything perfectly sometimes and the scale just doesn't move. They should be able to get "points" for other things like following their diet program all week, or spending extra time in they gym or whatever even if the scale doesn't move. Maybe I'm trying to make the show less sensational and more reality based. Maybe I should post those ideas on the other thread for Jillian to read?

curlylocks 10-26-2005 08:14 AM

i guess its all about the ratings... and they figure the people watching expect the contestants to over eat and jump at the chance to have goodies.... i would imagine that the trainers are over ridden by the network executives on the decisions about how the show will go..

have a great day guys... its FREEEEEZING here.. and i have yet to buy oil... i'll be glad to go to work today! lol

Welcome Valerie Wonderful to have u join us!!

I'm sorry to hear about your lost Kitty :( I'm an animal lover and work with my local adopt a pet. I have 2 fosters right now looking for a home.

Did your kitty have a collar with tags? I'm always unsure when I find a cat without a collar or someone else brings one one. It's always hard to tell if it really is a stray. Good thing you got her chipped! I hope someone brings her to a vet or shelter so they can scan her.

Valerie Joy 10-26-2005 08:56 AM

Oh yea and thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)

A little bit about myself. I've been overweight for the last 15 years or so, but I really put on the pounds after taking an antidepressant for 10 years.

I had believed myself to be a "healthy" fat but I had a wake up call last month when I found out I have diabetes. My grandmother had been a double amputee so the idea of this happening to me was scary enough to get me going! I've been following the zone philosophy but counting calories instead of blocks.

I've lost 24 inches and 20 pounds so far! I'm amazed at myself because I never thought I could do it.

I'm so happy to have found this site because I really need the support to stick with it! Just going to the grocery store is something else now. I can't believe all the crap lining the isles!

Anyway thats for the welcome and I look forward to getting to know you all :)

curlylocks 10-26-2005 08:56 AM

Good Morning Ladies,

Valerie :welcome: , you will find this group to be very supportive and they post like mad!

I have to go over to the church kitchen this morning and pretend like I am a dishwasher expert. We have a remodeled kitchen and somehow or other I ended up chairing the kitchen committee. As a dyed-in-the-wool introvert, I don't *do* that kind of thing, I much prefer to stay in the background. I was responsible for keeping coffee supplies in the old kitchen and somehow the job just grew. The ladies club is going to use the kitchen, hence the dishwasher demo. Wish me luck.

I have managed to lose one more pound.

I watched 'The Biggest Loser" last night and I think that program might be mighty discouraging for the average dieter!

I hope that everyone is OP today.

Hey Ladies,
well tuesdays always screw me up. I teach a night class so my day is like 8-5 then 5-10. With no break in between. I packed some of my left over casarole and ate in beteen very fast but didn't enjoy it since I was rushing. So after teaching, I was like on muchie mode. I wanted snacks so badly. This weekend I cheated a little and had some twislers. I think I hadn't been having cravings or anythign because I had been pretty strick but since that sugar went into my system, I'm having tons or cravings for junk that I don't really even like. So last night I munched on my legal sweets, and had some more cassarole, so it was kind of a legal binge. I am going to try and detox in a way again and not give in to these cravings. Its so hard. Its like all I think about is what I shouldn't be eating. So I guess I'm in the same boat as you momx3, once you start cheating, its hard to stop. I would say get it out of your system and detox. Core is pretty close to south beach and I really didn't have to many craving until the twizzler incident...

Momx3, it looks like you are in the race with me and Petra to get to onderland. I betting Petra makes it first. I havn't gotten this low before and so close, I can taste it or ummm, feel it. Keep it up, we'll make it.

Curly, I hope the microchip thing helps find your kitty. I've neverheard of that, how do they do it. I have a cat and I should probably do something just in case. He's so goofey but I wouldn't want to lose him. I hope you find yours.

Petra, I havn't seen TBL yet. I keep hearing about it but I'm always at work on Tuesday, how did they solve the losing weight issue?

Lisa, I was just thinking about you this moring. I'm so glad to hear about your loss. Quitting smoking is the best thing to do for your health just keep that in mind as those pounds come off.

Angel, I still have all l my stuff in storage, I think when we actually get in our place, I'm not even going to unpack my son's clothes, by then he will be way to tall, we'll start with a clean closet and see if we can keep it that way.

Val, welcome to out group!

Dee, Iwonmon, L2l, TEB, Turtle, Zoey, hmmm who am I foegetting, have a good one.

Still Kicking

I'm still around. Sorry I've been MIA. I've been keeping up with reading the posts. Welcome to our newbies (you'll love it here) and hello to all you PIC Divas. Please forgive my absence.

I went to the doctor about my knee and although there is a sprain/injury... the x-rays show Arthritis. I'm taking Ibuprofin 800mg and Lor Tabs at night. I'm not sure if it's the meds that are helping or not, but I think it's improving. I also bought (and started) taking the supplement Glocosomine/Chondrotin for carlidge health. I doubt it can hurt, but I sure hope it helps.

I had to have Squeak put to sleep Monday and Jay buried her in my yard. Winter hit us hard Monday night (heavy wet snow and ice) and some are still without power. Now Jay is sick and back at his house. He is without power. It's not been a good month, but I'm trying not to retreat to the safety of my shell. I went back to TOPS and I'd lost about a half a pound.

I received a $25.00 Barnes & Noble gift certificate for my b-day. I was going to buy a diet book or exercise video, but ya know? I think I might buy that Barenaked Ladies DVD I've been wanting  It IS a gift after all.

I hope to talk to you all real soon.

angel-eyes 10-26-2005 12:21 PM

Hotcup.....I"m sooo sorry to hear about your cat. Poor little thing, she was just too sick to recover and it was one thing after another. Poor little Squeak.{{hugs}} On a plus note though.....you went back to TOPS and you LOST!!! Enjoy spending your gift certificate.

Petra......I enjoyed last nights show also. I was wondering how they were going to do a longer version. I wish they showed more of what is going on in the house, re: meals and food. Jillian and Bob seemed genuinely surprized when the teams announced the 2-person teams, so I don't think they are actually IN on any of the strategy's. Quite the transformation of Pete eh? I was shocked to see that when all was said and done.....he wanted to start a family!! I thought he was more of a 'granpa' age. All that extra weight really added to him.

Jennie.....Detox, detox...!!! Thats the way it starts, a twizzler here and a bite there. Stop it now before it gets out of control. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Legal foods, casserole....whatever it takes.

Zoey.....Congratulations!!! :cheer: Good job on the weight loss. Enjoy your ...ah...er....dishwasher demo!! :D

Valerie....WOW...GREAT JOB!!! :carrot: 20 lbs is awesome!!! :carrot: I'm sorry its under these circumstances, but any wakeup call is a good one. Keep up the great work!!!

Curly.....Enjoy reading the book. I am on day 2 of the workouts....can you spell S-O-R-E M-U-S-C-L-E-S? Thank god for tommorow's day of rest!!
I hope your flyers help in searching for Mallie.

Well....enough about all the shout outs!!! Gotta go take a shower as I stink!! :yikes: What a workout this morning. Have a good day!!!

momX3 10-26-2005 01:52 PM

Morning all. It's hump day which puts us one day closer to the weekend!!! :carrot: I hopped on the scale for a second this morning and I was 201.4. I still don't think I am going to get to onderland by Halloween but I am so happy that I am almost there. :cb:

Petra - I am not really craving sweets which is very strange indeed. I want pizza and salsa with chips!! I must be getting close to TOM's visit.

Lisa - Great job on the 1.4 pounds!! :cp: I am so proud of you for not smoking!! You Rock my friend.

Angel - Are you doing Jillians book?

Hotcup - I am sooo sorry about Squeak!! Poor kitty!! Don't feel bad you did so much for her and now she is no longer in pain. Sorry to hear about the Arthritis I also have it in my knees. They get really bad during the colder weather.

Jennie - Onderland her we come!! I am so excited to see a one as the first digit on that scale.

Zoey - Great job on the 1 pound loss!! Keep it up!!

Curly - Sorry to hear about your kitty. I hope you find her really soon.

Valerie - Welcome to the group!! That's my sisters name. Great job on the work you have done so far and good luck with your continued success!!

iwmonn - Sorry your feeling Blah!! I hate that. I makes it so much more difficult to stay OP. I hope you feel better soon.

Wow, busy thread today. I have to be somewhat quick here because I have to go do a consult--YUCK!

Mom-I think they make South Beach pizza you can buy frozen. Maybe that would work? Maybe you could make your own chips out of whole wheat tortillas. It would take a little extra work but might be worth the trouble.

Jennie-I don't know if you read my little post to L2L about the whole sugar addiction thing and how if I start thinking I can have a cookie here, or a brownie there, I end up in BIG trouble. It really does remind me of my alcoholics who try to tell me they can have a beer or a drink once in a while and the next thing we know they are drinking themselves into a stupor every night and have to go back to rehab. I honestly believe abstinence is the only way. If I every write a diet book, I am really going to highlight this issue because I don't think enough is said about it. Jillian does talk about it a little bit in her book.

Angel-I saw you asking about meal plans for Jillian's book. The post from me she was referring to was where I said that the plan for balanced oxidizers (which applies to you) is The Zone. And it turns out that Valerie might be able to help you with that because boy is that one complicated plan with those food blocks. I guess it probably isn't much more complicated than points once you get used to it but it would take some getting used to.

Turtle-sorry to hear about Squeak. It's always hard to let them go but it is the most merciful thing to do when that time comes. Nice to hear from you again. Your sister, the exercise ****, would love Jillian's book. It has one heck of a butt kickin exercise program in it.

Zoey and Lisa-congrats on your losses.

I better get my butt to the hospital.

Turtle, I was so sorry to read about Squeak. I know that you took good care of her and did all that you could do. You know that you did the right thing, but it is still hard. We had a wonderful cat that we had to put down for health reasons when he was only 4 years old and it was very hard. That was a few years ago and I miss him still. His name was Onslo and he was my buddy.

curlylocks 10-26-2005 03:42 PM

Jennie the chip is about the size of a piece of rice and they inject it under their skin.. doesnt really hurt .. just like a regular shot then at the shelter or the vet they have a scanner that they can run over the cat/dog and it reads the microchip number... they can then call the maker of the chip and get all your information.. you can even give them 2 alternative phone numbers to call if u are not home..

if u purchase pet insurance (runs @ 10 a month) they will give u a really big discount if your pet is micro chipped also
