Thanks everyone for all your support. Sounds like a really fun site to be associated with. Sandi, I will also go for the challenge with you. 5# isn't much to ask for, so this will be my first short term goal. I had off work to go with Heather to see a lawyer about the incident involving her at the nursing home. No big problem tho. It has been raining all day, our pool is coming down in the next couple weeks, the cover got blown off last night and also took some of the uprites with it. Sooooooooooooo, maybe a hot tub will be next. Good luck with everyone who does the challenge.

Hi Ladies ~
Well, I did a four mile walk last night (in 50 minutes so not too shabby). I didn't get any exercise in today but ate OK until dinner when my daughter and I split an ice cream sundae. I know eating half is better than eating my own whole one but I wish I could just NOT give in to the temptation. I didn't weigh in last week because of the holiday and not being at work (remember, my scale is at work) so we'll see how my weigh in goes at the end of this week.

OK...Ruldolph or Frosty?? (definitely Frosty for me!)

HI all just a short note b4 bed I did not do too badly today. I ended up working late and I ate after 7:30pm. Next week will be better, I will not be relying on left-overs and I will be able to cook and bring my dinner to work with me. I am going to try to get and hour of exercise in on Wed and Fri. I am also going to try to get some extra walking in on Thurs(if it's not snowing) I was able to get in 2L of water today, but the downside is allways having to go

If we are talking movies I like Frosty, but if we are talking songs I like Rudolph.

Welcome Sherri. We are great bunch of women that have good days and bad days and on the bad days is the best time to stop in. So welcome. My mom is a dibetic and has been for years, she controls it with pills but they don't do a great job. anyway my brother is a dibetic also and so was 3 of my grandparents. I need to get tested this year but i haven't yet. i usually do, i think i will get test after the new year. anyway my grandfather and brother were both diabetics when they turned 40 and i am only 5 years from that mark.

Okay I know I was forgetting to get back on my scale in almost 2 weeks. Well I went out to eat at applebees yesterday with my parents, but i got to say i was too busy to eat in the morning and we ended up having a very early dinner (3pm). I think I did okay with calories for the day. Anyway I stayed exactly the same. I am so excited. Staying the same is better then a gain and right now through christmas i am aiming towards just not gaining.

Did you know that the average person gains 10lbs between Halloween and chrsitmas so as long as we don't gain we are ahead of the game. I am not one for depriving myself because then i end up binging. I am a little worried about the cookies i have to make, which i make every year but being i am working so much i don't think its an issue.

I painted my living room this week, thats why i was not around. I started Monday, continued tuesday worked tuesday night and continued when i got home at 11:30 and painted until 3am when i finally finsihed wednesday morning. it looks so great. I am so happy with it. I have a cathedral ceiling so it was a lot of bending, reaching and climbing up and down ladders. My legs were killing me but it was worth it. I am working tonight, sat 3-12 and sunday 3-12. ugg i am so tired and today need to do errands.

I got to tell you ladies about my update on our business, my hubby is looking for a real job and is looking to dessolve the business. We are looking at a lot of debt and many years to pay it off, maybe even talking to a lawyer about chapter 13 not sure if its an option. Hopefully one of his other customers will buy his equipment and hire him to do their flame cutting and having them do it in house. he has a meeting on monday. I told him that if he works nights i can get a real job during the day and we will be okay eventually. We started our business with alot of debt and not enough money to start it not to mention i was not working.

Wow Karyn, thats rough about the business. I know it will be tough but you can get through it. What color did you paint your living room? We moved into our house a year ago and my children have "decorated" almost every room in the house! So now we are getting ready to paint after the holidays. I am looking for ideas.

I did pretty well yesterday total calories 1210. I did not get a chance to work out, but I did run around the mall with my kids for 2 hrs!

Today has started out ok, I got up early and exercised, started my cleaning and got my son off to school!

Sandra Great job on the walk! I always have to take the kids with me, so I am lucky to get a block or two in. Have a wonderful Friday Ladies

Hi Karyn, nice to meet you. sounds like you have been busy. Every room in our house has been redone, after 15 years. Now I want to redo completely the kitchen all my appliances are dying.
As far as the diabetes goes, start now like you are and maybe you can avoid the pills altogether. With dieting and exercising the weight goes down and so does the blood glucose. My husband and I just bought a tread mill for the family to use, he is also overweight and diabetic. Runs in his family with both parents and brother. We are going to leave it upstairs so everyone will use it. My youngest daughter was a 9# baby and weighed as much as I do. She lost 70# going through a program at Strong Hospital during a study of PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) when your periods are irregular. She looks great, I was concerned because she had two strikes against her leading to diabetes. So we will all stick together and we can lick this.

What kind of business did you have? My husband works for Kodak for now, supposed next layoff is in Feb. next year. We'll see, I don't worry until it happens.

Going shopping for Christmas, will be here sooner than we think. Talk to you later.

Default New week!!

Hi Ladies ~
I'm glad so many of you joined my mini christmas goal of 5 lbs. gone. I actually gained 1/2 pound this week so now I have 5 1/2 to lose in three weeks. UGH!! Three weeks??? I can't believe that's how close Christmas is, I'm not nearly as ready as I usually am by now.

How about everyone else? How were your weigh-ins?

I'm going to try to have a better week. I lost my determination/motivation around Thanksgiving time and am having a hard time getting it back. Any suggestions?

Karyn ~good luck with the business. Just keep your hopes up, things will turn around eventually and turn out alright for you and your family.

Kim ~ I hope the kids are feeling better. Don't you hate when the kids are sick?

Upswife ~ What color is your furniture in your living room? That would help think of a good wall color.

Sherri ~ I'm glad you're here with us - keep up the work on the treadmill. I think having it upstairs instead of the basement is a better option!!

Have a great day ladies!

Hi ladies, My official weigh in was the same as last week, but we had pizza for dinner the night before (it was too cold to drag the kids to the store) I have been pushing the water and ate well at an aniversary(50th) party on Sunday~I avoided hte sweet table even with chocolate covered strawberries-yum! SO today I exercised and weighed in again after my shower and I lost 2lbs, so I am going to work extra hard this week to see if I can exercise 4 times.

Dh and I aare going to check out a new chiropractor here in town, we are both looking for one cloeser to home than our old ones. I am in better shape than he is though, I still like my old one-he does not. Hopwfully we will like this one.
Currently my furniture is black (DH's from batchelor days) but it is really beaten up, my kids have done a number on them. I am hoping to get new ones next fall.

Don't worry Sandra, just take it one day at a time and soon you will be back on track. The holidays are a hard time to be motivated there are so many pitfalls this time of year~cookies, cake, candy and fresh baked breads(my favorite) Have to run DS will be home from school any minute and I am so far behind schedule today!

hey everyone! I haven't weighed in yet but Sandra I am with you with the struggle to eat right. I guess its cause of all the christmas shopping & decorating and working and trying to get my house in order.

I personally do snowball cookies, butter & sugar coookies I use my cookie press, peanutbutter cookies and the hershey kiss cookies. but i don't know when i am going to find time to bake this year.

My outside is almost all decorated. I am trying to get the inside in order. NO tree up yet. I need to cleanup my computer room, so we can get the train table in here cause thats where my tree is going. My living room is a deep plum. I was worried abotu a dark color but its beautiful and elegent. My furniture is cocco.

Upwife, congrats on loosing! Your doing great!

Hey ladies. Long time since I have been here. I am not doing so well on losing. Matter of fact, I am scared to weigh.
We love doing the cut out sugar cookies and decorating them. Also, we get a ginger bread house kit every year and decorate that. I have the kit, but so far, we have not decorated it.
Well, I am off to my daughters school to keep her class for a few hours. The teachers are going to something and the parents are keeping the classes. Ought to be fun with 17 4th graders.
Be back later!
Kim
