Good Morning

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY :balloons:

Thought I better post before I head to work. I am down 7 total. I saw my sister this weekend and she is down 25. She was so happy and excited and she looked it. I hope that incentive takes me to my goal. Congratulations Lori on your loss that is great and this challenge really helped me. What about a St. Patrick's Day Challenge or Easter or just a date set for a spring challenge.

Glad you got your treadmill Paige. That was very sweet of your husband.

Jenn Thanks for the M&M's and you have a great day at Curves & Good Luck.

Mariie Thanks for the info. I did understand it and your right it will be tedious but if I don't have a ribber it is the only way.

Well off to work for me Good Luck to All today

Ok ladies the official results are in.....
In one month I have lost......

Bust 1 inch
Waist 2 inches
Abd 1.75 inches
Hips 2.5 inches
Thighs 0.5 inches
Arms stayed same
Weight 12 lbs
Body Fat 2.5%

The lady at Curves was so excited for me that she busted out of the door and told everyone that was working out how much I had lost. Everyone started clapping and I have NEVER felt so wonderful in my entire life. :D
When we were doing my measurements, I asked her about my hip and why one looks different than the other. She showed me that she has the same problem. She said that one of her legs is longer than the other and that could be my problem also. She suggested that I have a MD check it out because now that she is older, she has lots of pain from it. I had a MD ask me that once but we figured that it just looked that way because of the way I had been standing because of my herniated disk.

Well, gotta go get in the shower and get ready for work. Talk to everyone later.

lmatis 02-14-2005 07:41 PM

Wahoo Jenn, your doing great!!!
Anmyreah, down 7lbs, isn't it great!!!
Kerry, hey a 1lb loss is still going in the right direction!!!
3 cheers for you guys! :cheer::cheer::cheer:
Rough food day at work, choclate, candy, and brownies everywhere! I didn't see that coming, I expect christmas to be a problem, the football playoffs were also filled with food, but I wasn't expecting them to have something on Valentines day!! I hurried up and at my lunch so I was too full to be tempted, oh and I stayed upstairs at my desk away from the junk! :D

Hello

Hello. I'm new to this thread, and relatively new to the 3fatchicks web site. I'm 37 and need to lose about 50lbs. I've lost 3 so far. I work full time, and have a hard time finding the time to exercise. Plus, the office in which I work shares a building with a day care center. And they're always offering leftover food. Today it was cup cakes. Pastries are my worst vice, but I was strong and refused the cup cake.

I'll write more later, but I thought I check out this group, too.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

kpe 02-14-2005 08:44 PM

Happy Valentines Day!!!!

Hope everyone has had a great Valentines Day! Just wanted to drop in quickly and say HI to everyone. Again thanks for the warm welcome into the group. Today was a huge challenge at school. I had so many students drop by my office today, therefore I ended up with a large stash of sweets by the end of the day. I did manage to pass most of it off to our special ed director. He'll eat anything and is as thin as a rail!! However, we have a pie shop close to school and we ordered strawberry pie and strawberry cheesecake for faculty at lunch today. I knew I was saving my bonus points for something. And let me tell you I enjoyed every bite!!!! I decided that I wasn't going to feel quilty. I have been trying not to use those 35 extra points, but after all it is Valentine's Day and I guess if that is my only quilty pleasure today then I have done good. Now I am off to that new treadmill, no excuses!!!!! Enjoy the rest of the evening ladies and congrats to all those loosers today!! Keep up the good work ladies. (Whoever thought it would actually be a good thing to be called a "looser")
Till tomorrow!!

Happy Valentine's Day!-What's left of it!

Congrats to you all on the losses!!! I didn't dare step on the scale this morning- I feel so bloated and crampy that the 50lb extra weight that i must be carrying around right now would really get me off to a bad start! Give me a few days on that one...

I survived the b'day party--wound up having 4 college kids (2 couples) and an 11 yr old follow me home. One of the couples is thinking about buying a home, and wanted me to crunch numbers and give them advice. I ended up driving to Louisville (about 45 miles away) to give them my opinion on a house that they are looking at. But it is so cool to me to help young ones get a good start--that gets my motor revved!!!

The Boy Scout Court of Honor tonight was not too bad for me. I ate more than I would have here at home, but I concentrated on the veggies--I left the dessert table alone!

I showered and washed my hair this morning and didn't bother to curl it, and once I got to work, I got really busy and never got the makeup on. I knew that I had no appts scheduled, so I didn't bother. But of course, THIS had to be the day that clients just dropped in all day!!! Just kept telling them--I actually do better work than my appearance would lead you to believe....

It is late, but I am going to hop on the sweat generator for a while.

Joetta

Update

Just a quick update on my first trial run (sort to speak) on the new treadmill. I did 1 mile in 20min. Not great but not to bad. I got interrupted with bed time for the little ones. :bb: Tomorrow I need to time it a little better so that I can walk further. :tread:

Robin, I too forgot to say welcome. I am soooooooooooooo sorry!!!!!

Last week I ordered a Trading Spaces shirt and it arrived today. Is anyone else a fan?? I am so depressed they are switching to a hostless format and Paige is leaving. I don't know if she was fired or left on her own accord. Anyway since they are changing formats they are also changing their logo so the shirts are on sale for $4.99 instead of $40.00. :soap:

I have a new house and need ideas so I am an HGTV/TLC junkie!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's to another day around the corner.

Paige :balloons:

lmatis 02-15-2005 06:31 AM

Robin, welcome!!! I have a list that I've PM'ed every body and I will get it to you tonight with names and short bio's it's nice to print for quick reference since we are all so busy not everbody is here every day and it can get confusing. If you want you can pm me a short bio and I can add you ot the list.

Good morning ladies :coffee: ! Oh am I tired this morning, I stayed up to late and still missed the news getting lunches, dishes and laundry done. I wound up working out while CSI was on, I didn't know I could stretch my neck that far! Well I'm gong to cut this short since I played the snooze button like a piano this morning I didn't leave myself much time!
I'll check back in later today!!

KYColonel 02-15-2005 06:35 AM

Mornin' all!
I am up a bit earlier this morning--I'll actually do something with the hair and face BEFORE I get to the office. 13 more days until the Evil Judge is gone!!!! The countdown is on!!!! It makes going to work so much easier to deal with.
Have a good one gals!

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day and didn't pig out too much on candy! :tape:

I just got back from the dentist. I had to have a root canal done. :( I had a tooth filled back in November and I started having a lot of pain and it was SUPER sensitive to cold. At least the worst part is over and I don't have to worry about it acting up while I'm on my cruise. :) Now that my entire right side of my face is numb, I don't feel like going to work out. Which really sucks because I was planning on going every day this week. Oh well! What's one day in the big scheme of things.

Well, I'm gonna go lay down for a while before I have to head in to work this afternoon. Hope everyone has a great day. ;)

rtardif 02-15-2005 12:49 PM

Good morning everyone!

Hello again. I hope everyone had a good valentine's day. Mine was pretty good. My husband and I had gone out to dinner on Saturday, so we didn't do too much last night. We usually walk about two miles every evening, but the weather was too cold and windy last night. I can manage the cold, but cold and windy - I prefer to just stay inside. I played with our dog for about 20 minutes, which is somewhat aerobic. He's a 90lb German shepherd and loves for us to chase him with his ball. Then while I was trying to do some crunches and weights, he had to come help me on the floor. He's blind and ended up stepping on me while I was on the floor. And since I was down there, he decided it was a good time to play. Needless to say, I didn't get many crunches done.

My husband and I are about to build a new house. We're in the process of buying the property and planning the house. So, I love home improvement shows, especially Trading Spaces. And from what I understand, Paige's contract just wasn't renewed due to the new format. Personally, I think the new format will hurt the show. But since I'm not a TV exec, what do I know? I also hoping that while we're working on the property and house, I'll burn some extra calories. I'll be glad when the days are longer.

What kind of information do you want on the PM? I'm assuming that's personal message? My background is in the computer industry, and I'm currently working as a parent locator for foster care cases. Between the two, I have too many acronyms to remember, so I just prefer to write things out when I can. It's actually faster for me.

I hope everyone has a great day! I'll check back in later.

LKTS 02-15-2005 03:48 PM

Hi all - I am not new to 3fc but I am new to this group. I thought you might be a good group to ask the following question which I've been pondering:

Does anyone have any good strategies for dealing with work-related events with food? My current job has a lot of birthday things with cake, occasional staff lunches out on the director, and every week there is a fellow giving a presentation at lunch to which we are invited. I really like my coworkers and I've shot myself in the foot in previous jobs by being too standoffish, so I don't want to be "no, I will go sit in the corner and eat my tofu." But the work 'splurges' are really affecting my ability to lose weight and my willpower to resist such treats outside of work. Any ideas about how I can deal with this constructively but still be friendly?

rtardif 02-15-2005 06:34 PM

Eating at Work

Hello. I used to work for a firm in which on of the employees had a very serious heart condition. He couldn't eat most of the food that was always available around the office. He would usually bring his own lunch and snacks. However, he didn't let that stop him from joining us when we ate out as a group, or had a catered lunch, or anything. He just brought his food with him and ate with us anyway. We never had a problem with it. And because he still chose to join us, he was never considered to be standoffish. He was just watching very closely what he ate, and we respected that. I would bet that you'd find the same thing at your work if you just explain to everyone that you are trying to get healthier, and in order to do that, you need to eat better. Hope it helps.

judydc 02-15-2005 07:04 PM

Hi! Sorry for being MIA for a few days. Work has been all-consuming, and I've spent my evenings rushing around doing chores and volunteer stuff.

Congratulations to everyone for dropping the weight! Jenn, you're putting me to shame :ink: I totally lost focus last week, and haven't lost anything. Plus I did something to my back at the gym on Saturday, and am just now able to turn my head and lift my arm without swearing loudly....

I'm re-reading a book called Weight Loss Through Persistence. It's helping me to remember that everyone who's lost weight and kept it off has gone through peaks and valleys, but kept at it, and didn't give up because they lost momentum, or because life got in the way. You are all giving me lots of inspiration to hang in there, so thanks!

Re treats at the office: I firmly believe in lying. Allergies, an upset stomach, I'm still full from lunch, I just brushed my teeth, whatever. People will give me grief about 'dieting' (and I'm obviously overweight!) so I don't even go there. It's great when your co-workers will support you, but I think that most people are tired of hearing people like me go on about carbs/fat/sugar and some feel like they're being criticized for enjoying the treats. However you go about it, I think it's important not to feel apologetic. No one's going to strike you off their Christmas card list because you didn't have cake or because you drank seltzer instead of beer. If they do--it's their loss!

nasus40 02-15-2005 07:10 PM

Lara the I am a diabetic works great for an excuse, You just can not cheat there any more if some one catches you! or you get gas with starches. I have a bad reaction to wheat products.

that leraves the diet off the plate and you can stick to plan with very little problem

Just watch that the do not catch you eating the wrong fooods. HE HE HE

I have eaten like a pig all the last 2 years now that I am going good and serious I do not want to blow things. Thursday we are having a meeting that I must go to. And they are having pizza. I love that but do have plans to pass it off. I do not like wings so that is out. I need to bow out gracefully with this one and eat my shake and have a good meeting. I know the feeling we have cake and cookies and candies brought to us all the time. so watch out!!

Work is being busy but I feel more in control. untill they tossed 3 admits on me today and 2 tomorow. and a new glitch in the computer system so it is harder to do the work that I need ot do untill i figure this system out.

I am OP and exercising and going strong. I am getting the cramps so I needed to take my potassium and mag today. that is good though!1 dragon breath is not far away. (low carbers)

KYColonel 02-15-2005 07:26 PM

One of my tricks to avoid the goodies at work is to say honestly that I am trying to lose weight. But I try to add something like "You know I must really be serious when I can say no to {insert name} 's cheesecake, or cookies, etc." If there is anyone that says something negative, just ask them to go ahead and take your share so that you won't be tempted.

It gets tough, especially when the foods that you really enjoy are spread out right in front of you. Here is my mantra "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels". Of course it does not work--but I try. What does feel good is when you go to bed at night knowing that you resisted!!!

And if it helps--convince yourself that you will have to confess to all the "fat chicks" and you don't want to disappoint that bunch!

The pep talk was mostly for myself, but hey, if it will help you, too---

Joetta

lmatis 02-15-2005 07:34 PM

Yes Robin, PM is for private messages, alot of people included their emails so I dont want to post it. I'll get you the list in a few mins.
Laura, welcome, I know about the parties at work! My boss is diabetic, and one of the guys never eats what we have so nobody pays much attention when we skip out. Although they do nag you to eat and try it and oh it won't hurt. I always giggle and tell them I brough my lunch I don't want to waste it, I HATE cake (I used to make them for people the smell of the icing makes me sick) and I can't eat ice cream or the whole office would have to leave on account of my gas. Everybody has food issues, just be polite, bring your own and join in. I usually only eat catered lunches on special occasions and I try to pick the healthiest thing there. The other thing, and this works good for family parties too, is to eat before hand, your not hungry and you won't eat much at all.
Well I'm off to jump up and down on my stupid box (thank goodness for mini blinds, the neighbors would really have something to talk about if they could see in  )
Robin, your PM's are turned off??

kpe 02-15-2005 07:58 PM

Today was actually a good day all around. Work wasn't too hectic for once and it was a beautiful day today. As a matter of fact the last 2 days have been gorgeous!!! Do I hear "Spring Fever"? :flow1: However, it is suppose to get cold and rainy again. :rain: YUK! The kids were in a good mood when I picked them up so I let them ride their bikes for alittle while. I will be so glad when daylight savings time comes. I just hate coming home and it is already dark. However, I am starting to see a change. It seemed like it should have been dark when we got home tonight but wasn't. So we took advantage of it and enjoyed it for a few minutes anyway.

Last night I did a mile on the treadmill so I am going to shoot for two tonight as long as the kids don't interupt me. :tread: They think it's a toy and want to do it too. I'll probably just wait until they go to bed.

I have a huge pile of laundry that needs to be folded and is calling my name. Sometimes I am convinced that I was switched at birth. I am such a procrastinator when it comes to "housework". My mother is totally the opposite but she was also a SAHM. Not that, that isn't hard. Trust me I have just enough of that during the summer and I am always ready for school to start back in the fall. I get about 6 weeks off and I don't know that I could ever be a SAHM.

Have a great evening ladies!!!

Still Hanging In There

Hiya,

Yep, I'm still around. I can't seem to catch up on all the posts..to many pages...so I'l jsut say this..Congrats on any losses and welcome to any newbies.
I hope you all had a good day. I am still so excited. I actually had to buy a new pair of jeans today and guess what?..they are 2 sizes smaller..WooHoo!
and my mom cancer test went great..doctor said there are no traces of Cancer and that the side effects will eventually work themsleves out of her system.

Take Care.

lmatis 02-15-2005 08:40 PM

Christina, wow way to go 2 sizes smaller!! You are doing great, and don't worry about keeping up we're all busy and can relate! I'm glad to hear your mom is doing well! Good news all around!

Paige, I know about summer break, I drove bus for about 7 years when the kids were small and I couldn't get day care for them. I couldn't wait for summer, then I couldn't wait to go back to work! I'm a lousy house keeper myself, I kicked around the idea of hiring somebody to help with the basics but I'ld have to clean before they came or they might quit before they start! I always worked out at night when the kids were little and they were in bed, I was always afraid of going to the ER because they beat each other up with my wieghts!! :D

Great Pep talk Joetta! I took my Valentines day candy from work and set it on the counter so the drivers could eat it!

Jenn, I'm glad you got your tooth fixed before your trip, nothing like a toothache to ruin it! I had a tooth go bad and didn't realize it, I honestly thought I had a bad sinus infection, after the root canal I could have kicked myself for all those sleepless nights!! BTW, I have had MANY root canals, my dentist loves me, but I think I paid for at least one of his kids to go to college by now! :D

Sue, I just finished my monthly and I noticed my cramps weren't half as bad and didn't last the whole stinken 7 days this time. (I really think working out helped)
I'm going to pack lunches and head for bed, tomorrow is my early day!
Chat with you all in the AM!!!

rtardif 02-15-2005 08:43 PM

Pm

My personal messaging is set up now. I'll log back in when I get home if I have time. Have to go walk first. Priorities, you know.

Ottoette 02-15-2005 09:44 PM

What a day, unplanned day off. DS is home with Daddy this week cause Daddy doesn't have any work til Monday. DS is also fighting a cold, well, Daddy came down with something last night and I stayed home to nurse them both. I actually stayed OP at home! Thank G for zero point soup. I am really desperate to post a loss at Thursday's weigh in.
Enjoying getting to know you all, but it'll take a while before I can keep all the names, situations and stories straight!

The kids are in bed and asleep.

And to celebrate.... a Skinny Cow :moo: YUMMY!!!!!!

Sleep tight!!!!

Great going gals! Smaller jeans, 2 nights in a row of exercise, toofies fixed, Mom's doing better, staying Op, all good stuff!!! But just a warning--if anyone starts bragging about the house being spotless--well, just please dont!!!!!!!!!!!! :nono: I can handle only so much perfection.....

Shared a bottle of wine tonight with my other business partner (not the minister/mime) {this time the brother-in-law} and he is ready for me to start doing hearings :judge:

In spite of this I did get in 50 minutes of sweat. Maybe I'll get back on for 10 more min----
Till tomorrow

lpnin03 02-16-2005 08:26 AM

Good morning ladies! Well the root canal wasn't that bad after all. I was expecting some serious pain after the numbness wore off. Today it doesn't really hurt at all except when I move my mouth a certain way. :D

Christina~ Congrats girl on the jeans!! I keep reminding my DH that this weight loss thing can get rather expensive when I have to start buying myself all new clothes!! :dizzy: I'm happy to hear that everything was ok for your mom. :goodvibes I'm sure that had to be rather stressful for you both.

Paige~ Doesn't it feel good to work out two days in a row. I hate when I miss a day at Curves. My DH made a comment last night that he would like to have a bowflex. We might look into that once my membership is up at Curves. I would also like to buy a treadmill for here at the house.

Well, I'm gonna go for now. I need to get to Curves and get home to clean up a little bit. Have a great day!! :balloons:

LKTS 02-16-2005 12:15 PM

Thanks for the suggestions about food at work, everyone. I've been working here for over a year, so I don't think I could suddenly become diabetic  but I will give the other ideas a try. Talk to you all later!

rtardif 02-16-2005 01:46 PM

Good Morning/Afternoon

Hello everyone. It's been a good day so far. I just came back from my break where a coworker and I went for a good walk. We walk up and down the hills around our office for about 20 minutes. We do that twice a day. And then if I have time on my lunch hour, I walk some more. And then when I get home, my husband and I take the dog for a 2 mile walk. I have to squeeze it in where I can. But I need to squeeze in some crunches and push ups.

I'm glad the root canal went well, Jenn. I've had a few myself, they're not fun, but there is worse.

Way to go on the smaller jeans, Christina! That is such a great feeling. I still have several pairs of my size 12 & 14 pants/shorts. That's kind of how I guage my success. And my short term goals are to get back into the 14s, and then the 12s, and hopefully back into a size 10. I'd be ecstatic when that happens. I'm 5-10, so anything lower than that, and my face looks too thin.

I don't know how some of you find the time to workout, have kids, work, etc. Paige, you are doing great on your workouts! My house looks like a hairy hurricane hit it. Our cats and dog are shedding, and so there is hair everywhere. And I don't have time during the week to vacuum. My husband is really good about helping out and making dinner since he usually gets home first. But still. There's always something that needs to be done.

Anyway, have a great day everyone!

lmatis 02-16-2005 06:42 PM

Well I missed the good mornings, I didn't leave myself much time at all :faint: ! I couldn't think of what to make for dinner so I made an old fast favorite. Chilli cheese dogs (low fat version) sooooo easy! 1lb gr. turkey, can of manwich, and fat free hot dogs, with fat free cheese. The kids go nuts over this one! It is such a pain to find something everybody will eat that works for me as well. Oh it's hump day, I can't wait for this week to be done, well that's not true this week is no different than the rest, I just want it to be the weekend!

Joetta, don't worry you'll never hear the words spotless and my house together, it's just not going to happen! Although the laundry pile is going down, but that never last long! :dizzy: The poor kids, they are sitting in the living room in their underwear playing playstation 2! (boys, they could care less) I made them strip when I got home from work, they were sooo muddy!
Well, I'm going to make some polanta for work tomorrow, I'll be back!

judydc 02-16-2005 06:51 PM

Hey, it's nice to see so much good news lately! Congratulations on losing weight, staying OP, and workin' those bodies. Most of you do this while dealing with hubbies, kids, pets, too, I really admire you. I only have to organize myself, and I have trouble doing that

I'm trying to work up momentum after maximum (I hope) stress at work and hurting my back. Things are a bit slower at work, and my back, arm and shoulder are getting better, so it's time to go back to my master plan. So far today I've been EPP, although I'm not going to Curves tonight, I'll take a long walk on the way home. I've been eating too much at night--all healthy, just extra, so I will have to stop it, starting today. I'll think about Christina and her new jeans, that should inspire me!

nasus40 02-16-2005 07:54 PM

I am alive and well here worked out again today and it felt great. i was on a workout high all day. it sure helped that I walked into a crisiss at work and sent one of my new residents to the hospital and several other things went bad and I managed them just fine. I feel more incontrol. My workouts are hard but strong I need to start cardio not just weight next week I think but if I di cardio I want to run and I am too heavy to do that now so I may just wait a bit longer. the eliptical machines are so hard to get on.

christine I can not wait untill the day I say I fit into my small jeans or even some of my smaller sizes. soon I hope.

Wish me luck with the pizza tomorow. (though I did great with BK today I got a salad) and passed on the chinese

kpe 02-16-2005 09:14 PM

What a day!

Today was so hectic!!!! Work was insane which means there must be a full moon because I saw way too many kids in my office today. I called 2 parents and made them come and get their kids, I suspended 3 more, paddled 2, and called 4 more parents (and we only have grades K-4)Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then I had to pick up the kids and rush home so I could get my daughter ready for dance class and get her there. It is so cute to see 7 four year olds do tap and ballet. They are trying to learn their dance for the program in June. They are going to be black birds in the Wizard of Oz.

So we just got home and I am eating as I type. I don't know if I will make it to the treadmill tonight or not.

Tomorrow is weight in day. I am so nervous that I didn't lose anything. My scale sure doesn't indicate that I did. Our WW leader says we have to eat all of our points or we won't lose any weight. I can honestly say I have trouble most days using all mine. I may have to start eating food with more points. For breakfast I usually have a 2 point bagel with 1 point of FF cream cheese. I may have to find a bagel with 4 points for example so I can get all my points in. It seems like I usually have to eat at least half if not more of my points when I get home from work. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow. Wish me luck!!!!

Sleep tight everyone!

Paige :balloons:

lpnin03 02-16-2005 10:12 PM

Hey! Only have a quick second. Hope everyone is doing well. Not a bad day for myself.

Paige~ You mean to tell me that you can still paddle kids in school?? I remember getting the paddle waaaay back in 5th grade for not turning in my homework for like the 4th day in a row. I just really can't believe that with the way things are now days that you can actually still paddle kids. I have a 5 year old in pre-k and I think that if I ever found out that he was paddled at school I would have a fit.

Well, the other nurse just came in to relieve me so I'm gonna head home. good night everyone!!

Good morning all :coffee: ! I don't have much time, I can't wait till the weekend, oh I think I already said that! :D I fell asleep last night, didn't even get to see the end o my show :( .
Paige, must be in your area, the paddle in PA is a huge no-no, it's a very hot topic. Sometimes I think that the threat of the wood would be better than the pschyco crap they dish out at the kids now! I saw a little kid rip the princaples office apart one time. He was threatening to stab kids on the bus with his pencil and was hitting everybody. The driver took him back to the school (this had gone on for weeks mind you) they just kept calling his parents who apperantly weren't doing anything. Well the display in the office got him a one way ticket to private transportation. But to think they had weeks of videos of his fits on the bus and nobody would do anything. I don't admit to having the answers, and thank goodness I'm only responsible for my own children, Paige I don't envy you what so ever. I tell everybody that my 7 years driving bus was fun and I enjoyed the kids, just not some of the parents. When I hear somebody say "Not My Kid", I would love to know where they bought their rose colored glasses??? I could go on about this forever so I'll stop and get ready for work!!!
I'll chat with you all later!!!

Good morning

Just quick note to say good morning. Today is weigh in! @#$!$%%&!@~

Oh, well I guess whatever happens, happens and then we are on to a new week.

And yes we do still paddle. In our district it is up to each school whether we do or not. I wouldn't say I am at an inner city school, but.... We have a large part of our students that tend to not be very stable in that they move from apartment to apartment (whoever has free rent that month) and alot of our kids have parents or family in jail. So it can be tough. Paddling isn't something I do with everybody. Some kids I could paddle 3 times a day and their behavior is not going to change. Some just try to see what they can get away with and are followers. It works for those kids. If I have to paddle a child more then a couple times in a school year then it isn't working so they get sent home instead of paddled. Enough about my soap box!! Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone! It is not even 10am and I have already gone to tan and to Curves. Now I just want to crawl up on the couch and go to sleep until time to go to work! :tired: I was thinking the other day that I will probably need another vacation when I get back from this cruise just so I can rest. With everything to do on the ship and at the ports, when in the world do you even rest!?!? :dizzy:

Paige~ Good luck with your weigh in today. :crossed: I hate weigh in day (except for when I step on the scale and see that it did actually move in the right direction)! :goodscale As for the paddling thing.....Girl, I would HATE to have your job. There are days when I get so frustrated with my 5 year old and I could not even imagine having an entire school of kids to look after. Being a nurse in corrections I get to see the other side of the spectrum. It upsets me so much to hear these mothers that are in and out of the jail talk about their children acting out. I just want to say to them so bad that if they would get their lives straightened out and be at home with their children, giving them the love and support that they need, then maybe their children would behave a little more. :censored: But enough about that. Happy thoughts only!! :D

Well gang, I better get off of this darn computer. Everyday I complain that I never seem to get anything done other than work out and tan before work and then it dawns on the that I sit in front of this crazy computer all morning!! :comp:

Have a great day! :grouphug:

DH & I were just talking about him getting paddled in school recently. Both of us wondered if they still do it anywhere in the US and I guess there's the answer to that.

Sounds like everyone is doing good! Jenn I am so jealous of your cruise, but I know what you mean about a vacation wearing you out. I think we're going to try to take a short trip down to FL, but there is so much we want to do that I'll have to take an extra day off just to sleep upon return.

I got on the scale this morning and I swear that it said 152  , but I was tired and groggy so I'm not counting it yet. I think it was in between the 2 & 3! :dizzy: You ladies are so right about the clothes though. I used to laugh at my mom growing up bc she called them practice pants. Now I know exactly what she means! I have a pair of practice pants in the top of my closet as well that are fitting better and better. I hope to pull out a size smaller soon to start practicing. :D

I've been busy with the job search, work and my side work doing web dev. I have a full weekend of more work and my folks are coming to visit for the day on Sun (they live about 2 hours away). I have had a hard time keeping up on our thread and posting. I guess that's the nature of being a working stiff!

I'll be able to check in more over the weekend, which I think is the case with most of us. Have a great Friday everyone!! :)

GIVE ME STRENGTH TO JUMP UP AND DOWN ON THAT STUPID BOX AGAIN! Hope everybody had a great day, we were busy at work so I only poped in and caught up at lunch, no time to chat :( ! Unfourtanatly I'm busy tonight too. I forgot to set something out for dinner, so it took forever to get it ready! Now I need to clean up the dishes, fold a load of laundry, pack lunches and jump on that dumb box!!! FRIDAY at 5:30pm can't get here fast enough!!!
I'll probably go to bed when I get this all done so I won't be back till morning so everyone stay focused and I'll be back!!

I cursed like a sailor all the way home today. I only lost .4lbs. I am so disappointed!!!!!!!!!! The only thing we can figure out is that I'm not eating all my points and I already knew that. So this week I am eating every last damn point I have!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other then that today was great. Work was great, no one came to the office today. YEAH!!!

I have to spend tonight cleaning house because my mom and stepdad are coming tomorrow for a few days and my mom can spot dust 200ft. away. She usually straightens up the kitchen cabinets every time she comes because it drives her nuts. She asked me if it bothered me that she does that and I simply said hey if it makes you happy knock yourself out. So I am sure that no matter how much I clean tonight she will find something that needs her "attention" while she is here.

I didn't get on the treadmill last night so I need to make sure I get that in tonight as well.

Here's to a bigger weight lose next week!!

Talk to ya'll later (as they say in Texas)!

Paige

It's only Thursday?????

I spent the day in Lexington today, and signed a lease on new office space. So the next few months are going to be insane!!! It is a 3 hour round trip, and I will have to be there a lot to get the thing going and to hire someone to train to be there full time so that I can just do 2-3 days a week.
On the bright side, the location is perfect, and the potential is great!
I am concerned about not having any time to exercise though--I'll be sitting on my butt most of the day.
I'll just have to figure out how to work that one out.

I know how it feels to work so hard all week to lose weight and then the scale just does not move! But please dont give up! Consider it muscle, the body compensating for the water loss, whatever, just know that eventually it will have to move south! Hey--at least it is not going up!!!!

I find it interesting that paddling is still allowed--When I moved North, I had planned to teach, but having no control over the kids was a big issue with me.

Have a great evening
Hang in there all!
Joetta
