Glad your still hanging out!!! I'm always amazed at how relatives come to your house and just camp out! But I have to say having your mother live across the street can have it's moments of insanity :dizzy: . I spent all of my teenage years trying to get away from them, then I put a house up across the road, go figure! It wouldn't be bad, but my mom and I are almost too much alike, she calls and wants me to come over right now and move furniture (remind me to tell you about this womans furniture sometime) and I'm involved and want to finish what I'm doing first. Two stubborn people wanting something done at the same time, I'm getting a headache just thinking about it  !

Kerrry, I hope you land another job quickly, that's too much stress for anybody. My hubby was unemployed for almost a year, we almost lost everything. Hang in there, things have a way of working themselves out!

Marie, I don't count calories, I would have landed flat on my face less than 3 days in :^: . I always pull mental games on myself, like not eating enough, or splurge for days because I blew one day! I can't do it, I watch my fat intake and sweets so if I fall one day, I can start fresh the next!

Any way, I'm trying real hard this week to remove the dust that has collected everywhere, so I'm going to run! Everyone keep up the great attitudes, before long maybe we'll be a maintance group????

lpnin03 02-10-2005 08:04 AM

Good Thursday morning everyone! :coffee: Is it just me or is this week going by soooo slow?!?! :snail:

Will write more later. Gotta run!

Loud_Librarian 02-10-2005 09:27 AM

This week is dragging by . . . . . :(

Yesterday I spent the day applying for jobs and developing a website for a non-profit. Thankfully the web dev pays a bit so that will help to keep us afloat. I really hope something comes together quickly on the job front, but I know it will eventually come together. Some days I think relocating would be a fun adventure and others it seems like hard work.

I am back on track now and the scale said this morning "You are almost at 154" Not that it really talks mind you. If it did, I'd probably murder it! Still having trouble staying away from the Coca-Cola. Still hate water too. :D Need more exercise - but I still hate that too! :smug:

lmatis 02-10-2005 09:47 AM

Good moring, :coffee: well I'm not sure about good! I didn't want to get out of bed this morning and I had problems with my computer, so I lost alot of info. At work now so I'll check back soon.
It may be a slow week, but it's almost over!!!! :D

judydc 02-10-2005 06:41 PM

Stealing a moment to say hi! I've got to crank out one more document before I leave work, and I don't want to be here late again tonight. I am sort of Eating Per Plan, manuevering my way around tempting restaurant menus. Wearing this orthotic thing on my foot is helping with the pain, so I'm still walking and working out. I'm getting the hang of the Curves machines, so I feel like it's a much better workout. I wanted to lose another two pounds by Valentines Day, but that's beginning to look unlikely. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with my slow but steady progress this past month or so.

Gang, the week is almost over! I just want to get through this meeting tomorrow without shrieking at all my bosses or bursting into tears. Wish me luck!

KYColonel 02-10-2005 10:16 PM

Judy, go in there tomorrow with what my baby sister calls "the Joetta attitude"--give 'em the "you are the only one that knows what the heck is going on" look, and don't you dare let them get to you!!!!!

Give me some feedback girls---one of my girls at the office mentioned that I am losing weight. While I am pleased that someone is noticing--I must tell you that this girl leads an alternative lifestyle. So do you think I should head over to the Alternachick board??????????

I do know some very interesting people--I don't have animal magnetism, I have quirky people magnetism! But ya know what? I love it! All my nutso friends make me look more normal! (or maybe not)

Nite all!
Joetta

KYColonel 02-10-2005 10:22 PM

Oh, and Sue, thanks for the article that I saw on another thread--it was encouraging to me. I know that the scale will eventually head south.
Joetta

nasus40 02-11-2005 04:38 AM

Joette I have several friends that live that style, and take the compliment for face value. if she looks at the back side just pat it and say getting there. Unless seh is on the prowel she is just making a nice compliment. women are much more sensitive then men when it comes to EVERYTHING. and she is just giving you a huge bolster and paying you hommage for the very hard work and dedication. with out ties.

Gee work is starting to lighten up towards the end of the week. note it is 4:30 am and I am not at work??? I am physically and mentaly worn out. but I can not let it show. My boss has stepped up the pace by far and with several routine things flying in the picture such as sick coworkers (me trying to cover as many shifts as possible with out killing my other staff), PRI review and last months end of the month paper work and many admissions. I have been told I have two weeks to get my act together and focus on the right stuff. I have said many times that this job is more than enough for 2 people, and with the step up in work it certainly is. I am seriously going to grap an appy from one of the other places as I can not stand this. My boss will not even look me in the eye or have some casual conversation with me. (NOT GOOD) I expect that I will be looking. I know she is stressed but that threat, with all the drop of work on my lap that has happened, I think that she has carried it too far.

well I have been mosly OP even with this and I have exercised several times this week and am getting ready to go for more. I am not doing bad. I will not get on the scale till next month if I can stay away. (myfluid balance is all off. I have 3+ pitting edema in my feet, typical for fluid imbalance) I am hoping that some of it will fis itself before I jump on the scale again.

lmatis 02-11-2005 06:30 AM

Good morning, it's Friday, YEA!!!! Wow, Sue and Judy, looks like this has been a stinker of a week for work. I'm sure the problems have been going on longer than a week, but really, ouch! I wanted to scream yesterday at work too. I have been trying to put together a good customer data base to use, and have tried alot of different ideas. They finally installed Access on my computer so now it's starting to come together nicely. But my boss thinks it's a waste of time, he keeps asking me to do some really stupid stuff because he thinks I'm not doing anything. It's our slow season right now and the timing is right for getting things organized. I came from a large, well organized company and I took one look at this company's stuff and it is just an unorganized mess. My boss dosen't understand how much more efficent it is to have the customers information altogether for quick refrence on the computer, he's an old paper pusher (you ought to see his office). My other co-workers are starting to see what I'm doing is going to make life easier and help keep better track of the customers.
Anyway, my hands are all dried out from all this cooking and washing pots and pans! But I'm really starting to lose all cravings for grease (that's a good thing!) :D I even noticed my skin is not oily and I'm not broke out for my monthly which usually makes a mess out of my face. And I really do feel better. I noticed my face looks thinner, I put weight on all over and am very round in the middle. So visible weight loss is very slow. Well I best stop rambling and get in the shower. Chat with you later!!! Have a great day!

lpnin03 02-11-2005 08:51 AM

Good morning ladies!! TGIF!! I didn't think that it would ever get here!

Ok, I need your opinion on something. My employeer is having a weight loss contest starting on Feb 17. It will last for 10 weeks and the female and male with the highest % of weight loss will win a prize. I really do not want to participate in something like this. I feel like I am losing this weight for myself and if I only lose 1 lb then to me that is a success and I don't need someone to tell me that I'm not a winner. Does anyone understand where I am coming from? I know that some people are driven by competition but I just don't need that. I have the type of support I need from this place and WW and most importantly, my family and friends. Tell me that I'm not being stupid about this!!

I know that I have complained about this before, but boy is it getting BAD. Every evening after I eat dinner, I get so bloated. Does anyone else experience this and if so what do you do to help it. I take a few gas-x tabs but they don't seem to really help much.

OK, this is off topic but I just have to vent about it. Virginia actually took the time to try to pass a law that would make it possible to be fined $50 for your pants drooping and exposing your underware. I have to admit, I can't stand to look at someone walking around with their pants hanging off their butt, but who is it actually hurting?? If you don't want to see it, look the other way. I encounter this everyday at work since I work in a jail and usually I will tell them to pull their darn pants up. But to say that some kid walking down the street could be fined $50 for this is crazy. I think that our lawmakers need to spend more effort on more important things going on in this crazy world than worrying about what people wear. This is America for gosh sakes! We have freedom. That freedom allows us to wear what we choose, as long as we are not exposing ourselves in public. You can click on this link to read the entire article. http://www.washtimes.com/metro/20050...5307-6411r.htm

Ok, I think that is enough for now!! By the way...if you think that I type a lot you should talk to me in person some time!! :blah: :blah: :blah:

Have a great weekend! ;)

KYColonel 02-11-2005 07:12 PM

Hey Jenn, I am with you on not wanting to join in on the weight loss contest at work. The good feeling of doing something for yourself would have a tendency to get lost in a situation like that. But if you do decide to go for it, we will be here to cheer you on!

And you wanna talk gas??? My husband has MS, and has a tendency to over-focus. A couple of weeks ago I made some cabbage soup, and it was pretty tasty. Da hubby decided that it must be good for my diet, so every day when I get home from work now, he has a nice fresh little pan of cabbage soup for me. Let's just say that I need to tie the covers down at night!!!!!!!!!!

Sue, rest assured that I took the compliment from Mel at face value. We are extremely open at work, and joke with each other about everything! Even our sexuality! Our co-workers make the Jerry Springer show seem lame! (actually, we have an ad that runs during the Springer show, and we know when the ad runs, because the crazy calls start coming in--we call those our Jerry Springer clients!)

Lori, as you know, once the boss has a taste of an organized customer database, he will think it was his idea!!!

Judy, we are all waiting to hear how the meeting went.......................

And Kerry, we wanna know about the job hunt.....................

Have a great weekend all!
Joetta

nasus40 02-11-2005 07:13 PM

Jen I needed that laugh thanks!! I am thankful it is friday so much so that I am ill. I feel my head just swarming and my back aching and well you can name it. I agree a contest is really bad as they will start of big and really make you feel like you are not accomplishing any thing. Just say no thankyou you are losing slowly and do not want to be in a race or feel like you have to lose faster than what is safe. that should shut them up.

I am not sure what is going to happen at work one of the other nurse managers is going to go and be admitted for some cardiac workup, so I guess my job is safe for a while they can not afford to lose two fo them. On the other hand >>>>>>>> that would show them what I think of them. I am tired now so I will be hading off to bed soon so have a great evening gals. I will be reading the inside of my eyes as sooon as I know the boys have a ride home tonight. (they went to a dance at 10 & 11?? )

lmatis 02-11-2005 10:31 PM

OH Joetta, that is just toooo funny!!! I usually have gas problems if I eat ice cream, and many other foods, but ice cream just about kills me. It is actually painful. One of my friends suggested a vitamin, I just don't remember what it was. I'll ask her again, it is supposed to help with food digestion and it's something normal like B12, but like I said, I'll ask to be sure.

Let me tell ya, I'm glad all you sickies are not within breathing distance, everyone at work is sniffiling, sneezing, and coughing. My oldest son is too, I feel like I'm surrounded :o !!

Jenn, stay away from the contest! Nothing will annoy you worse than an idiot with a complex to lose more weight than you. Don't get me wrong, but I can't stand any competition about weight loss. Well, I'm not real competitive about much of anything really. Best thing to do is when you hit your next short weight goal buy a pair of georgous shoes or an outfit!!! (I love shoes)

Sue, get some sleep! And remember nurses are in demand, jobs are plentiful in your field and you DO have the upper hand! My old supervisor used to get real nervous when he had to talk to me about anything, I used to tell him loudly, I can get buckets of crap from another employer just as easily. By the way my new job is 100 times less stressful and the commute is half of what it was! I wish I would have left sooner!
Well I'm going to get to bed.
Chat tommorrow!!!!

Anmyreah 02-11-2005 11:05 PM

Hi Everyone

Sorry I haven't been on for awhile. Been fighting with the flu and respiratory infection most of the week. Finally went to the Dr. today. So hopeful by Monday I can get back to work.

Kerry I hope you find a job very soon. Maybe that PT job didn't turn into a FT job because there is something better waiting for you out there. Good luck.

Nasus Treat yourself to nice bubble bath with some great music playing in the background some night when you get home and you are really tired from a long
day.

Joetta I love your phrase "we shall overcome" in a nut shell.

Lori Thanks so much for sending me the list of the Bio's sorry it took so long to get mine to you and I'm going to try to shoot for that we are a maintanence group in the making.

IPNIN Yes this week went sooooo slow for me too. Especially not feeling to great I had a million and one things that I needed to get done and I had to sit by and watch the clock tick.

Judy Thanks for the tip on subscribing to the thread. It was reader friendly. Worked like a charm. And what happened at the meeting?

Good luck to everyone with the weigh in Monday. Have a great weekend
:)
Anmyreah

lmatis 02-12-2005 07:56 AM

Good morning! :coffee: It's a nice quite Sat. morning, kids are still in bed and DH went to work for some OT (over time). Shhhh don't tell, I snuck on the scale this morning (163) thats a 1 & 1/2 lb. loss this week, I won't change my ticker until my official Monday weigh in, maybe I'll lose another 1/2 lb and make it a full 2lb loss ??? ;)
Anyway, Anmyreah glad to see you, I got your pm with your updated short bio. I'll get those updated today and resend them, I have some more updates too.

I need to ask, do you guys want to update our post (start a new one)? Maybe once a month, or once a week? I want to make sure this stays easy for everybody to come hang out! I know we are all busy and not everybody can check in daily, I don't want anybody to feel left out! So I don't know if it would be easier or not to start a new thread now and again. Let me know what you guys want and we'll do it.

Ok, next idea I would like to get off the ground is reciepe sharing. How about you guys pm me one of your favorite reciepes and I'll gather them together and we can either make it a post, or I can PM them back. Let's include nutritional facts since we are all following something different.
And maybe an idea to include would be one of your favorite house keeping short cut secrets. Let me know, I love chatting and I think we have alot of ideas to help each other survive daily life! :D

OK, I see I'm writing another mile long post, so I'll jump off here and get these clothes folded and put away, I'll be on and off the computer all weekend so I'll be back!

Ottoette 02-12-2005 08:49 AM

Hi Chicks, :hat:
I'd love to join you. You're a fun group I see and I DEFINITELY qualify for membership. I'm a Unix Systems Administrator and with my commute and unpaid lunch, I'm gone from home about 55 - 60 hours a week. I have a 16 month old boy, and a husband of 3 years as of today (to see pics, login is "pics" passwd is "pics"). I'm also 42 years old and about 80 lbs overweight. I have worked full-time since I was 21, with about 9 months off total during that time unemployed.
I love to work, but tend to let it overshadow the rest of my life. I'm getting better about that since becoming a Mom.
I joined up here at the end of the year, and promptly lost 10 lbs, then gained 2 of them back last week primarily because of evil girl scout cookies and my total lack of control with them. :nono: I signed up for WW in 3-d on Thursday to add a layer of F2F accountability. :coach:
I am determined to get to my goal weight once and for all to have more energy, be a more active Mom, and improve my health.
Nice to meet you all!
Kim

lmatis 02-12-2005 09:00 AM

Kim, welcome, we would love to have you join in!!!
I sent you a quick PM I'm sure you will have a good time with us!

KYColonel 02-12-2005 11:25 AM

Happy Saturday All!
Welcome Kim, to our humble abode!!!!
I invited "Paige" from an "Overwhelmed" thread to join us here--hope she does!

Da munchkin just told me that he needs a "Romeo" costume in about 6 hours!!!!!!!!
Can you spell K I L L ??????

Later!
Joetta

Karen 02-12-2005 11:26 AM

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that I'm still around. My computer is down at home and the boss is in town this week so there's no time to play during work... :( I'll be back by Wednesday when everything will be back to normal. So, I'll talk to you all later....

kpe 02-12-2005 01:42 PM

Thanks for the invite Joetta and HELLO everyone. My name is Paige and I am an elementary school Asst. Principal. This group is right up my alley!!!! I am married and have two children ages 4 and 6. We also recently adopted a cocker spaniel from a rescue center a few weeks ago. I have organized a group at work of 22 teachers and staff to participate in WW. It has been working out really well having WW come to our school to do the meetings. My excuse before was that I didn't have time to pick up the kids and get to a meeting. So this has worked out great. We just started week #3 and I have lost 6 lbs. so far. Now my biggest challenge is finding time to workout. I
found a gym close to our house that has great hours. I'm just not sure I want to be bound by this for a year. I am taking a break right now from cleaning out my closet. I decided it was time to get rid of all the clothes that I think I might beable to wear someday. When I know perfectly well that once I lose this weight I'm going SHOPPING!!!! How do you all find time to workout????? Well time to get back in the closet!

Paige

DayByDay 02-12-2005 02:21 PM

Just wanted to pop in and say Hi to all of you. A big welcome to the new ladies :)

My loss is now 17 pounds and it's been forty days since I smoked my last cigarette. We had a mild Minnesota day yesterday so I hurried home from work and walked outside for an hour. Wow, what a difference! The asthma seems to be a thing of the past and I can walk so much faster than I could before. I had an awful flu bug last weekend - temp of 101.8, chills, body & headache and cough. Over the last 2 years, a respiratory virus put me in the hospital twice with asthmatic bronchitis. Apparently, my lungs have healed enough that I no longer have trouble breathing when I get these things. I can't wait to show my doctor the new Diana. He was pretty sure the damage I'd done with smoking was permanent. As I get closer to my goal weight I'm going to pay him a visit and surprise him.

I'm still at 1200 calories and as long as I have consistent losses of 2 pounds per week, I'll stay there. I was surprised that even the week prior to TOM, I lost 2 pounds. People at work are really starting to comment on the weight loss which feels good. Clothes are starting to be a problem and I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet because I still have fifty pounds to go. I wish I would have had my daughter take a picture of me when I was 188. This weekend, I'm going to have her take a picture of me so I can have pictures to show my progress.

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!

Marie 02-12-2005 02:24 PM

Hi Kim and Paige, welcome to a great thread. The thing I like about it is that everyone here is busy and can't post all the time. I suppose that didn't make sense since I like to read the post. I just think it's nice to feel welcome after a busy couple days at work that you can come back and still feel part of the group.

Lori, I like the recipe idea. I have a great recipe for Sweet Oatmeal Bread that's made in a bread machine. You don't add any fat to it and it's great. My kids devour it. I'd love to share it. BTW, I got my new bread machine this week and if anyones looking for a great one, try looking at the Ultimate Breadman. It's way better than my old one (Welbilt).

Kerry, good luck on the job search. I swear that is the most depressing process in the world. I remember one time after not getting a job that I sunk to the floor in tears wondering why nobody liked me. This was when I was about 33 years old. By then I shouldn't have taken it so personally. Then I was in HR for so many years that I saw the other side clearly. Sometimes one candidate has one trait or skill that isn't part of the job but would be clearly beneficial to the company and that was the deciding factor. The lesson learned, always promote anything that you can do that will put you over the top, even if you don't think it's important. It possibly can be. Good luck to you.

Work was busy this week and yes it seemed very slow. I think it's because it's winter. I blame everything on winter. I'm not a cold weather, dreary day type of person. But yesterday I saw my first signs of spring - the lilac bushes have growth on them. Spring is coming then the days will be flying by.

I've been exercising and that's the good news. I'm definitely starting to get in the mood to exercise (I started regularly as mine and DH's new year's resolution). The bad news is that I'm having trouble with eating. The portion sizes are just too big. I might need to measure for a couple weeks to get that back into control. Bu first I'm going to try harder. That is my promise to all of you.

To everyone, have a great weekend and really enjoy yourself.
Marie

lmatis 02-12-2005 03:45 PM

Welcome Paige, yea were a bunch of busy nuts! I find myself working out sometimes right before bed! I couldn't imagine trying to get to a gym!:dizzy:

Diana, I'm soooo happy for you!! Keep me posted, I'm planning on tackling the smoking thing this summer! I'm also glad you dropped a line to let us know how it was going!

Marie, we'll have to come up with a solid plan to get everyone in on a reciepe post. The bread sounds wonderful. I have a bread machine some where, hmm, I'll have to look for that!

Karen, we'll be here waiting on you when you get rid of the boss!! :D Imagine, him wanting you to work! I know the feeling!!!

Joetta, my only mom duty this weekend it to get treats for the Valentines day party, thank goodness. Yes, I know the feeling of KILL! My favorite moment is trying to get out the door in the am and I hear, I forgot to do my homework! I just want to run out side and run myself over in the driveway!!!
I'll check back later!!

KYColonel 02-12-2005 06:28 PM

6 hours and one Romeo costume later.....

I did it!!!! Luckily he didn't want to go over the top on the costume, so I didn't have to run to the local fabric store and spend another small fortune (as I do every time I go). I had made Justin a gauze shirt last year that he loves to wear around the house. He calls it his "Gandhi" shirt. We used that, and then a quick pair of blousy knickers, sashes, a pair of tights, and off he went!!!! :joker: :twirly:

Do any of you have problems with cravings during ovulation? HEY :cb: I meant food cravings!!!! Thank goodness I have moved to an area that does not have a bakery around the corner (or down the street, or in the next town, or in the next county...you get the picture). I never have a chocolate problem, I have never liked the taste of chocolate, but man carbs get me salivating!

Anmyreah and Diana, I am happy that you both are feeling better--and Diana--you rock girl! :cheer: Every day smoke free is a victory!

:comp: Alright Lori--Miss "I have a second to spare so let me use my computer skills to create a customer data base including shoe size and nose hair count from scratch"--What do you mean, Start and new Thread???? I do a little jubilation dance every time that I find my way back here! :jig:
Okay, maybe I am over reacting just a bit---If you do something different, just please explain to me how to find you again!!! I can put together a Romeo costume in an afternoon, but I can be totally blown out of the water when it comes to computers.

Anmyreah 02-12-2005 06:34 PM

HI everyone

and welcome Kim and Paige.

Lori I think the receipe trade is a great one. I have a breadmachine somwhere also. Better start looking for it.

Marie your bread receipe sounds great. Also I'm so happy you are a machine knitter. I know how to knit but I bought this machine from a lady who got a new one and she sold it to me for $25.00. It's just the basic manual machine but I could use some pointers on how to start a project. Quess I directions in a book haven't always been easy to understand for me. I have it all set up and I just want to make a basic baby blanket but I think I'm affraid of the thing.

Diana congratulations great job

Joetta I work in a Library and we have school children come in all the time and want resources on some topic they picked at school and we belong to wider system so if we don't have it we have to send to our member libraries for the info. The trouble is they come in for the info Tuesday after school and ask for it because it's due on Wed. It just happened again a week ago. I just chuckle and think I probably did the same thing when I was young.

I also have a ?
Where do you guys get all your cute Icons that make up your weight charts and such.

Hi Anmyreah...go to User CP at the top of your page. Then click on Edit Signature. It will tell you where to click if you want to set up your own weight tracker.

Anmyreah, I found the video that came with my sweater machine. You can have it if you want it. Even if they're not the same brands, I'm sure it will help. Also, I have the basic instructions how to set the machine up if you don't have that. PM me if you want any of the stuff.

Mornin' all!
It is 4 AM and I am wide awake=silly, silly me!!!
The scale is not friendly--I did lose the pound that I put on last weekend, but nothing more. I am not discouraged though, since my weekend jeans, I can now just pull up and zip. No more of the wiggle-jiggle, squeeze, yank, lie flat on the bed and suck-it-in just to get the zipper closed--and then try not to bend for the rest of the day!

I know that the hubby will talk me into going to church this morning__I know-shame on me that I have to be talked into it! The associate pastor lives across the street from us, and he and Tom have become good buddies. They usually want to take us to lunch afterward, and then we have a B'day party for a 2 yr old this afternoon. Tomorrow we have a Boy Scout Court of Honor with lots of food--so the temptations will start hot and heavy this week. I'll have to get my game face on!

Paige, you asked about finding time to exercise. I was going after work to the fitness center, but way too many days, I had too much to do. When I did go, I would stay for only 30-40 min. I dusted off the old cross-country ski machine at home and have it the family room. I hop on that while the guys (and I) watch TV. They give me support in gentle reminders that keeps a guilt trip going if I don't get at least three 20 minutes rounds per evening. I find 20 minute stints frees me up in between to do dishes, laundry, etc. That is working much better for me than the fitness center.

Have a great Sunday gals!

As for recipes--anyone interested in cabbage soup?????--Yeah, didn't think so....

Joetta

lmatis 02-13-2005 09:14 AM

Good morning :coffee: !
The weekend just goes buy way to fast! Ok, it's Sunday how about confession time :^: . I had pizza last night, not just one slice either, it was soooo good! Pizza and a short glass of pepsi, wow did I miss that! I'm glad I did it, and in a few weeks I'll do it again! :o Something I learned along time ago when I actually did lose all my weight was that it was the best idea in the world to cheat now and again. Once I get the weight down and I'm ready to maintain (I can't wait) I would have a cheat day once a week it worked and I never felt depived.

Joetta, I had kind of a late night myself. Like a fool I let the kids talk me into running to Walmart and 11:30 last night, they didn't have what the kids wanted so they thought we ought to shop around, by midnight I was ready to leave both of the at the store. The didn't get anyting and were both tired and mad at me, not a fun ride home. (I need a smile with tears flying out of it) But this morning they both still have their money and I can call around to some other big stores and see if they have the game they wanted.

Anmyreah,
I did my weight ticker over on www.tickerfactory.com, you can get it the way you want it, copy and past it right in your signature when you edit it. You can use the user cp link at the upper left hand of the paige and it will open up a new screen with links on the side, choose edit signature and away you go!! If you need more help give a yell.
Ok, I'm going to make breakfast, I'll be back!!!

Off to church I go---but I forgot my confession----Friday I succumbed to Chinese at lunch, and then when I got home my dear loving (gonna have to hurt her) sister had taken my and her munchkin out to eat --the restaurant had a special of fried green tomatoes--so she brought me back an order. They were soooooooooo gooooood!!

Good morning

Hi everyone
Thanks girls for the info on the chart. We'll see if it shows up on this post. I was going to ask along time ago but I always think I should know those things so I try and try and try and then I finally ask anyways.

Marie thanks for the offer what a nice thing to offer to send me that infor. The thing is I have it set up no problem. I have the instructions and I have knitted a straight piece but when it says K 1 P 2 for the ribbing how do you set the needles to purl. I can't find it in the book. I know it has to be there but I just seem to be missing it. And thanks again for the offer it just shows what a kind person you are and I'm so glad I'm in this group with all these special people.

Good luck tomorrow everyone

Anymeah

Weekends are hard

I must confess that I could not stay away from the chocolate this weekend. I did not indulge in chips or soda and ate good meals, but I had TWO brownies - one Friday and one Sat. DH was evil for bringing them into the house ! Then I just HAD to try the new hershey kisses with carmel - YUM! :p I am BAD! But I have managed to stay at my calorie limit by watching everthing else strictly - is it possible to still lose weight this way? I am new to all this and I feel like I am looking better (smaller tummy) most of the time, but I still indulge from time to time. Hmmm. . . I must weigh in tomorrow morning so I guess I'll see.

It sounds like we all have our temptations that we give into. All the things you've given into sound wonderful to me too - Pizza, Chinese, and baked goods (I LOVE to bake so no bakery does not help me :( ). I also get cravings during O (ovulation) and also right after AF shows. That's twice a month that I am out of control - NOT GOOD!

Marie - thanks for the encouragement/advice on the job search. This round I have tried to do things a bit different. I have beefed up my PR experience/skills and been a bit more honest about my interest. My DH's program is hard to find and we are tied to those areas and schools. I just keep hoping for the best and trying to stay on the diet plan so I feel better about myself.

Well, I am off to the grocery today to do the shopping for the week. My plan is more fruit for sure as well as more from scratch. I could use that recipe exchange right about now. I do use epicurious which is what I am going to do today to find a recipe for a good bean soup. I also need to get some creativity into my lunches - bc I get bored! :D

TTYL! Soon it's back to the daily grind!

Hi all,

Weekends do tend to be hard but my success today is yesterday I was really good. I stayed a little under my calories and I haven't done that in a while. I chose foods that were for their nutrient content instead of sweets. It really was a success. Today I'm starting off the day with the same foods. Hopefully it'll be two days in a row. I do know that Monday won't be on plan but I've planned a cool Valentines with DH and I do believe in special occasions to be off plan.

Anymeah, I will PM you with instructions on how to do the knit/perl with the machine. It's sort of a pain but in a way it's relaxing. If you've got it set up and stuff, you'll be able to do it with no problem.

Kerry, brownies are a problem for me, too. I make them all the time and common sense would tell me to stop, but my family loves them. I have two ultra skinny teenagers and they will eat them. With them, I hope that they have enough calories and they won't eat nutritious foods. So I make brownies. Most of the time I can stay away from them, but if I'm bored or angry, I gravitate towards the pan.

DH has Guard Weekend yesterday and today so I'm on my own, playing with my knitting machine. I finished a sweater for a friend's little girl and I started a sweater for me in a really pretty jade green. I do think that the reason that I didn't munch yesterday and so far today is because he's not home. I don't know why but it's just easier to stayon plan when I'm by myself. Funny thing is, he's not a bad influence - he's very supportive. So I've got to wonder why I do better when he's working. I'll have to figure that onw out. Anyone have any ideas?

Have a great day and I'll talk to you later.
Marie

Loud_Librarian 02-13-2005 03:30 PM

My DH is sometimes a bad influence, but mostly we consider eating an activity that we enjoy together. That's how we put on all this weight together since the wedding! Maybe it's that Marie?

I forgot to mention my issue staying away from beer - Newcastle & St. Pauli Girl Dark. I add it into my calorie count but I am not sure about the exact calories of either of those?

I bought lots of apples, low fat peanut butter, delight (sara lee) wheat bread, leafy lettuce, peppers, 13 bean mix for soup, turkey smoked sausage, 7up Plus, pita/hummus, and popcorn (my salty indulgence). I'm going to make baked italian chicken with orzo and baked chicken mushroom with rice this week and dirty rice. We are having fajitas tonight and I am also planning a taco salad night. :) It all sounds good to me!

Solution to the exercise dilema!!

Good afternoon everyone!! Where has the weekend gone. I can't believe Monday is around the corner. The only good thing is that it is a 4 day week for me. We have Friday off instead of Monday for Presidents day. We have to give a state test called the TAKS test that week.

Kerry- I can really relate to what you said about how you and your husband both enjoy eating. I can ditto on that one. Our other issue is that we eat too much food that comes from a window or is delivered to our door. It isn't that I don't like to cook but it is all about time and convience. I am really proud of myself though. I have cooked the past two weekends for the upcoming week. I have chicken in the crock pot and a few other things still to cook today.

My workout dilema has been solved!!!! My wonderful husband and kids came home today with a treadmill for Valentines Day. Now I don't have to worry about finding a qym. I just hope this doesn't end up in the fitness equipment graveyard!! I have really wanted a treadmill for a long time. I don't mind walking but it is just to humid in Texas to walk outside! Now I just have to get my butt on it.

I need to call the Salvation Army tomorrow to arrange a pickup. I have 8 large lawn bags full of clothes from my closet. Seeing those bags makes me feel like I was very productive yesterday.

Well I guess I had better go and see if I can lend a hand in the treadmill assembly! Enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies!!!!!!

Paige

KYColonel 02-13-2005 09:47 PM

Paige, what a sweetie you have for a husband!! Tell him that he has lots of fat chick admirers!
8 bags of clothes?? Good for you! When I moved I got rid of a lot of clothes, and then a couple of months ago, a neice came over and started going through my clothes, and of course wanted most of them. I said to her "Hon, they are not new clothes." Her reply? "Oh, that's okay, vintage is like-back in!" She has red hair but I swear she has blonde roots!!! So she took 2 bags of my "vintage" clothes.
While living near Chicago, a thrift store opened within walking distance of my house. I originally went looking for fun stuff for costumes, and I was hooked quickly! I would buy only the brand name new condition clothes, and I wound up with a designer's closet! I kept all the extended family in nice rags at ridiculous prices. There is nothing here that even compares. Now I go shopping and the prices just kill me!!

Oh crap! I just noticed the time...gotta go girls!

Paige, what a nice gift! I have a bike (we hang stuff on it :^: )!
Ok girls, I have a problem I can't find fat free parmesan cheese at any of our local stores. It takes me a long time to use one bottle and I haven't needed it for a long time. I need it and can't find it only reduced fat (which is still way to high 45% fat) not low enough. Could you ladies spy at your local stores for me and see if anybody carries it and get me a brand name. Maybe I can get online and buy it if I could find somebody that makes it.
Gee, if I can't find it I might be going into the cheese making business! I make alot of my own foods, I love to can I just don't have a basement at the house we live in now. Alright, it's getting late, I'll check in in the AM, can't wait to see everyones losses for the week!!!

lmatis 02-14-2005 06:18 AM

Good morning :coffee: ! My official weigh in this morning 162 lbs., that's a 2 & 1/2 lb loss. Wahooo!! :cb: That just makes Monday all better! I almost forgot happy Valentines Day! My DH got up in an awful mood this morning, I wonder if he realizes that today is Valentines Day? I'll have to remind him! :D Well gang, I'm impressed with myself, I just blew through week 3 of my new healither lifestyle, I hope week 4 goes just as good! Week 3 always seems the hardest, I usually wind up giving up. I think I'm going to do something different when I reach my 10lb goal, I'm going to clean out my closet. (Idea from Paige) I have my thinner clothes packed in totes in everybody's closests so I think I'm going to dig some stuff out for more motivation!

I saved my measurments and weight from Dec. 19th, I was at 167.5lbs before Christmas, imagine packing on 2 more pounds over the holiday, I wonder how that could have happened?? I'll have to remeasure and compare the numbers. I actually downloaded the chart template off of microsoft's web site. I'll have to look up the link and share!
Ok, I've got to jump in the shower, I'll check back later today!! ;)

lpnin03 02-14-2005 08:31 AM

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!! Here is my gift to everyone :m: :m: :m: :m: :m: A handful of M&Ms. Eat them and enjoy!! :D

This weekend went by way too fast. I didn't do too well with my diet over the weekend. On Saturday we went to a party for my cousin's daughter. I didn't do too bad but I did have a slice of pizza, some chips and dip, some veggies with more dip and a small piece of cake. Then yesterday we went to visit my mom and step-dad and they took us out to eat for my DH's bday (which is today..he's 30). I had a small piece of prime rib, baked potato, limas and a small salad. Even though I splurged on "real food", I don't think that I really hurt things too bad. I guess I will find out when I go to Curves today and get weighed in. I also get to do my 1 month measurements today. I am really anxious about that. I know that I have lost some inches cause my clothes are fitting better but it will be nice to actually see the numbers.

It is that wonderful TOM. That bloated feeling that I am always complaining about is so much worse today. I was standing naked infront of the mirror this weekend :yikes: and noticed that one of my hips is larger than the other. My right hip sort of goes straight down but the left one sinks in a little. What in the world is up with that!!?? I kept pointing it out to my DH and when I was trying on a few dresses that I bought for the cruise that is all I could see. Does anyone else notice anything wierd like that with their body? I guess now that I am losing weight I pay attention to every little curve and dimple!!

Well ladies, gotta run. I just got a call that the man is coming now to pump our septic tank. Gotta love that!! :D

I will post again when I get back from Curves.

Loud_Librarian 02-14-2005 08:59 AM

Seemingly - I am down another pound! :dancer: Although I probably shouldn't count it yet since DH & I are going out for Italian tonight to celebrate our love! Of course we did some of the celebrating last night, which was fun. :o

I thought my choices were kind of bad over the weekend, but I still managed to shed a pound. I need to get back on my plan and eat more fruit and veggies, but I think I've gotten good at staying under 1400 calories. Have I mentioned that I suck at exercising? I did leave my coffee in the car by accident and had to climb back up 5 flights in the garage to get it this morning - that has to count towards calories burned. A girl can't live without her coffee! :coffee:

I hope DH gets me dark chocolate for Vday. I can just eat a little of it, while milk chocolate I can't leave alone. Also we already agreed to stop after dinner and get some vanilla bean ice cream so that we can finally indulge in the homemade chocolate sauce my gma made me at Christmas. Yum.

Happy Valentine's Day ladies! Enjoy your day and have a bit of chocolate or whatever your passion may be! ;)
