Hi, everybody--

I've been down with something, and not online much these past few days. But I've managed to Eat Per Plan, although I haven't worked out since Monday. I think I'll make it back to Curves Saturday morning. I only just started a week ago, they will think that I got cold feet.

NASCAR? Doesn't do a thing for me. Joetta, I lived in Chicago for 16 years, so--how 'bout those Bulls, huh? Actually, I'm just a casual fan of sports these days, my ex totally burned me out on football and basketball. I'm only just recovering my interest.

Marie, you sound like a very talented woman! I love stained glass, please share your website with us.

DayByDay 02-04-2005 07:41 PM

Hi everyone ~

I've been lurking the last few days and haven't posted. Things are going well, so far it's 32 days smoke free and 13 pounds gone. For some reason, I need A LOT of structure with the weight loss plan I'm on this time, probably because of the quitting smoking thing. It probably sounds pretty boring to all of you, but I eat 1200 calories every day and pretty much stick with the same foods at the same times. I can't explain it, but this has been incredibly easy for me this time.

I haven't shared this yet, but I'm the single parent of a 17 year old girl and she's leaving for college in August. At that point, I will be alone. The first of January when I thought about her leaving, I thought about what life would be like for me if I didn't make some drastic changes. The thought of being alone, 70 pounds overweight, and unable to breathe from smoking was too much for me to bear so I instantly decided there were going to be some drastic changes and made a plan. Coincidentally, I should be arriving at my goal weight of 120 right around the time she leaves for college. And I don't intend to be sitting around here feeling sorry for myself :D

The two things I haven't quite mastered yet are the water drinking and daily exercise. I have a treadmill that I have been ignoring all week!

People at work are starting to comment that they can tell I'm losing weight which feels good.

I think one of the things that has really made this work this time is that when I first decided to do this, I thought very hard about what life would be like if I didn't make any changes and actually had a very clear visual in my head of myself sitting at my computer all alone in my apartment, very overweight, and basically suffocating from my worsening asthma condition from smoking. Then I right away switched over to visualizing myself as a nonsmoker weighing 120 pounds and being wined and dined by very attractive men  I mean really, which would YOU choose?!

I hope everyone has a great, healthy weekend!

32 Days for Diana!!!!!!!!!!

Diana, I am so proud of you!!!!!! 32 days smoke free! :cheer: Your daughter must be SOOOOOOOOOOOOO proud!!!!

The first date with my now husband, I had the audacity to tell him that I could not date a guy that smoked...kissing him would be like licking an ashtray! And I know the **** that he went through quitting....occasionally I bleached his cigarettes when he would slide

And thank you so much for not being into nascar--I was beginning to think I belonged with another group! Isn't it interesting how just living in another area makes a difference in interests? I find that fascinating.

So what area of Chicago did you call home? I ran the city of Elgin forever(okay, I just let the city officials think that they could not exist without me!). I really do miss it!

Keep up the good work kiddo! And single life is so empowering!!! Scary as all get-out, but it will make you so much stronger! A strong, empowering female--- a great legacy to pass along to your daughter!

If you need moral support, I'll PM my email address--lean on me anytime!

Marie 02-04-2005 08:56 PM

Hi there everyone, today has been great. Some of you might remember that I had the day off and I had a great time. I finished a sweater and am wearing it. I still a beginner at machine knitting, but it is pretty cool. I already started another sweater.

Our tax return was deposited into our account today, so I paid several bills. That always beels good. And I went shopping for diet soda - it's my addiction - I love diet pepsi. I went overboard and bought 36 2 liter bottles. I could barely push the shopping cart. At least I won't run out for a day or two. :)

It's pretty interesting that we have so many nascar fans. I really like it but it puts me to sleep. I think I made it one race last season where I didn't feel an intense need for a nap and that was because I was working on stained glass. I like the beginning of the race and I like the last 50 or so laps. DH wakes me up for the end. I can't say I feel like I missed anything.

Joetta, what I'm a really big fan of is the Green Bay Packers. I just adore the Packers and not the Bears. I bet you feel the reverse. I have my whole office decorated in Green and Gold. Regardless, I know you can make it through the weekend without falling off track. You can do it and you will.

DaybyDay, that visualization was probably the best thing you could have done for yourself. I can relate to the asthma and weight problem (well, duh on the weight problem :) ). I think my weight problem has definitely worsened the asthma. I too went through a period of eating the same foods everyday last summer. I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and lunch, then something for dinner. I do the same occasionally but have branched out to having two slices of sweet oatmeal bread for breakfast and or lunch. I don't smoke, so I can't imagine how hard it is for you to give up two vices at one. Congratulations on your success. That is just awesome.

Judy, my website is at www.stainedglassbymarie.com. I love stained glass and have sold a lot, but mostly I put up the website so that I could try to sell some and make window space available for the new stuff. I just made a howling wolf in front of a big moon and blue/purple sky. It is so pretty and I just don't have room for it. I'm going to take it to work and let it clash with my Packer decor. Anyways, thanks for asking about the site and the compliment. Sometimes I don't think I'm very creative, but then other times I realize the reality of what I really love to do and know that I'm artistic, just not in the traditional sense. And Judy, I sure hope you feel better and get back to Curves. Exercise is the best thing for you.

Jenn, the fajita rollup wasn't probably as bad as you thought it was. Most places marinate the meat, then grill it. It isn't boiled in oil and the fat content is pretty low. Then they pack it with veges and I bet that it was actually a pretty good choice. Protein and veges - a good choice.

Karen, no offense taken. I know by the boos that there are a lot of Jeff Gordon dislikers. Doesn't matter to me and it probably is a big reason I'm his fan. I just don't get why people are so against him. DH said it was because he used to win so much, but I don't know if that's the case - I wasn't a race fan back then.

Lori, way to go on finding the meatless pasta and sticking with your diet. You're doing great. And I bet you had no idea that you'd collect so many nascar fans in your thread. Maybe you should rename it - just kidding.

Diet so far today has been good and the exercise is planned for this evening with my DH. I was excited that I found an ice cream at the store that was as delectable sounding as my DQ Cherry Chocolate Chunk Blizzards. It was called cherry cordial and I took a spoonful when I got home and it was better then DQ. So for a 1/2 c. serving there's only 180 calories. I use that 1/2 c. on a cone (I eat way less ice cream if it's on a cone) so that's only 230 calories for a favorite taste. I will leave room in my calorie counts every evening. I am an ice cream fanatic. I've always been able to lose weight while still giving myself that indulgence. So today was great. There's way less calories in my cones than in a blizzard.

Talk to you all tomorrow. I think I've rambled enough for today.

KYColonel 02-04-2005 09:39 PM

Marie, thanks so much for the encouragement! I really do plan to be good this weekend, but my good intentions seem to all too frequently go awry!! Knowing that I will have to account to you guys may help keep me in line!
I was at my sister's house a couple of weeks ago, and she brought out a baby sweater that I had knitted (my first) for her eldest son. He is now 25 yrs old, and he and his wife are expecting a baby, so she is giving the sweater to them. Made me cry!
Sorry girls, I get sidetracked so easily---but a sideline here--the nephew that is 25 yrs old is in Tikrit. He is a military reporter, and he covered the elections. We heard from him today, and the good things coming out of Iraq are so inspiring! He said that locals wanted their pictures taken with our guys. Adam said that one man came up to him and asked him to please hold his baby so they could get a picture--history in the making!!! Our guys are helping to set up city councils, getting project underway to make their lives better. They are building new schools to replace the mud huts being used now, and the kids just love our military boys! What a feel good story!

Okay back on line now--Marie, my secretary is from Wisconsin and a big Packer fan. I went to Cub and Bear games, but really never got into it. I loved Walter Payton, but only because he was such a neat person, it didn't matter to me what he did for a living. Green and Gold is not a bad color combo! And I love cheese curds!

lmatis 02-04-2005 09:52 PM

I think we've had pretty good first week!! FINALLY FRIDAY!!! Ok, I work Mon. thru Fri. so yes I live for the weekends. I'm glad we have some many different views from sports, to hobbies, and diets. I took alot of courses in college and the main thing I learned the less people are alike, the chances are better for the most creative solutions!
Jenn, don't feel bad about lunch! If you wouldn't have had it you would have felt deprived and you can't lose any weight if you feel deprived!!
Diana, you are going to have a great time when your daughter goes to college! Keep me posted on the patch, I'm very interested to hear how it's going (which appears to be great!!!) Oh, and dust off that treadmill, I'm jumping around like an idiot on a step that I use for a weight bench too. My energy level is getting better I can feel it!!
Judy, I hate being sick :( . Hope you start feeling better!! One advantage to driving a school bus for 7 years, I built up a heck of an immune system! The second winter I drove I had a fever every other week, no kidding, but haven't been sick since.
Joetta, I have to do a birthday party this weekend so you stick with me! :drill: I wanted to order out in the worst way tonight, but I didn't! I want to keep my eye on the ball, but I'll have to go get my glasses  !
Karen, I hope you get your computer fixed, we'll miss you over the weekend!
Ok, I'm heading to bed, hope to chat with you all over the weekend!!!

lpnin03 02-04-2005 10:41 PM

Diana~Congrats on the not smoking. I have smoked for 15 years or so and I have tried to quit several times. I know how hard it is. And for you to be try to diet at the same time....all I can say is WOW :bravo: After I lose some more wieght I will try one more time! Just remind yourself everyday how far you have come and how much you will lose if you are ever tempted to smoke "just this one"!! What does your 1200 calories a day consist of? I eat the same thing pretty much every day too, so maybe you can give me a fresh new idea or two!!

Marie~36 bottles of soda:yikes: I would have loved to see the looks you got while pushing that buggy around the store!! Hey look at it this way...it was good exercise pushing that heavy thing!!

Thanks to everyone for making me feel better about the rollup at lunch!!

Have a great weekend!

DayByDay 02-04-2005 10:50 PM

I am not very good at this thread stuff - I'm having a difficult time following along, keeping everyone straight and being able to respond to each of you. :dizzy: I've decided to go into lurk mode on this site for awhile.

You're all great ladies and I'll be pullin' for all of you as your ticker numbers go down. Thanks so much for all of your support.

Diana

lmatis 02-05-2005 06:24 AM

Diana, please don't just lurk! We are are struggling to remember each other and post. Something that might help, when you hit reply if you scroll down from where you are typing there are the most recent threads. You can at least reply to them, and I know the signatures disappear, it's making me crazy too trying to associate everybody's user names with their real name! That's why I had the email/short bio idea. I thought it would help with remembering everybody. It's more fun when we all come out and play! :)

My 8 yr old son is looking through one of my low fat cook books so we can decide what new dish to try this week! I think it is wonderful that they will at least try a new dish when I make it. I made that low fat tuna casserole and there wasn't much left for my lunch, they all tried it. I can't believe it, it's 6 am and were all up :coffee: , I've runied everybody, nobody sleeps in anymore! I have sooo much to do today, groceries, pick up boots for work (I have a job in the field on monday), and a birthday party. Oh yea, and get a gift! I'll probably be out most of the morning, but I'll be back to play around dinner time.
Oh yea, and where is Christina? I wonder how her 1400 cals. are going? Marie, what kind of machine makes sweaters? I always spend a small fortunie on mine, it would be nice to be able to make some. And 36 2 liters, where do you put them all :D ?
Jenn, don't feel left out, I also smoke. I figured it wold be best to get the weight down before I quit. I was afraid I might take out the whole neighborhood if I cut out fat and smokes at the same time :D ! So hopefully by the end of the summer I'll be fit and smoke free! I hope the patch thing works for Diana, I'm excited to see!
By the way were big Steelers fans here! My kids played their first year of pee-wee football and learned about the game, so they were both very much into the NFL this year and it's been alot of fun since our team did well this year.
Ok, I'm getting my shower and off to shopping, I'll be back to play later.

Loud_Librarian 02-05-2005 11:57 AM

Kerry's update -

So how many asthmatics do we have here? :raises hand:  What do you ladies do to exercise or is it not exercise induced? Mine is exercise, allergy and reflux induced! :( I try doing the two puffs before exercise, but it doesn't always work. I am getting my albuterol filled today. So we'll see. . . I know I need to start exercising if I REALLY want to look good. Last night we went out and I was feeling fine - DH even jumped me when we got home :o and the first thing he said was you look REALLY good since losing weight. I'd love to hear more of that. :^: Maybe he'll eventually try to lose his handles as well!

My in-laws are visiting this weekend and making it very difficult to stay on my diet. There are chips/dip, donuts, beer and more beer all in my kitchen! Yikes! :yikes: They'll be here until Monday morning. So Superbowl will probably be a diet buster. :(

Nonetheless, I got on the scale this morning and I am very close to 154. I think I've gotten handy at staying under my - don't gain weight calorie limit (1800) even if I don't stay under my lose weight calorie limit (1400).

Marie - your stained glass is beautiful. I LOVE the ship panel and the penguin is too cute. My mom collects penguins and would love it :)

Lori - it is great that your family is so supportive. Mine is not so. Let me know what recipes everyone likes and maybe I'll slip on into our meal plan. We cook every night here and we keep having the same thing over and over - BORING!

All you Race Fans :dizzy: Geez! I've lived near racing cities a few times in my life - well I grew up outside of Indy, lived a year in Florence (right beside Darlington SC) and now I live just south of Charlotte. I still am not a racing fan; I just can't get into it, but I sure know there are a lot of fans and most of the love to drink beer! :p

Alrighty I'm off here for now. I'm going to do my best to stick to my diet and still enjoy myself. Have a great weekend ladies! :)

Christalynn 02-05-2005 12:10 PM

Hello gang,
I 've been around. I'm not much of a nascar fan so I've been just reading the posts. I'm doing ok on my 1400 calories. I'm finding it hard to get all the calories in...that was my problem with WW..couldn't fit in all those points.
I've been crazy here with work and debating over switching majors. I suppose the only new news at the moment is the guy I have a small developing crush on..is re-thinking he concerns about dating someone he works with...wish me luck :lucky: I think he is realizing that I'm not a 15 year old that is going to follow him around the store. I have my own responsibilities at work. Anyways..hope all is well with everyone.
I'll check in later

Marie 02-05-2005 12:45 PM

Mornin' everyone. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I do agree with Diana, it's starting to get hard to remember all the threads that we have going on. This is turning out to be a great place to post. I am really thankful I'm here. We all are so different but there sure is a lot of commonalities between us. Because we're on a new page, I'm going to have to go by memory to respond as opposed to scrolling up to reread a post so I can respond to it.

Diana, please don't just lurk. If you don't respond to everyone, that's okay. If you resond to no one, that's okay.; Just share how you're doing and what you've been up to. We all care about you and your success. We're all in this boat together.

Lori, you are really lucky that your family is supportive. My kids are older and don't eat at home too often. My hubby will eat anything I put before him (actually he does lots of the cooking after I decide what we're having). But when the kids were young, I had to make myself separate meals to eat low cal and low fat. That was a pain in the butt. So consider yourself lucky. Also, DH and I decided that we needed more creativity in the kitchen and now try out one new recipe a week - on Friday nights. So we have that in common.

Kerry, thanks for the compliment on the glass. The ship is awesome in person. It's in our big picture window and it goes with the models DH makes. He does ship models that are about 40" long. They're just gorgeous so that's why the glass had to be made. Yoiu can make it through the super bowl and stay on track. Just don't overdo. Eat to maintain this weekend while the inlaws are visiting.l

Christina, good luck on deciding which major. I'm forty-three and do nothing with my major or masters. I stumbled into database management and have been there since. I now which I had gone into computer science. So really, good luck. It's a difficult choice that sort of steers the rest of your life. And the guy you have a crush on, work romances do work out. I've been married to DH for almost 22 years and we met at my college employment. So good luck.

Today we sign on our mortgage refinancing. It'll save us about 600 a month. I am really excited about the change - we'll have money again. Yeah!!!! I didn't exercise last night like I was supposed to so I will exercise this afternoon. Calories for today are going ok but it's only 9:44 in the morning. So I still have a long way to go on a weekend. I can relate with everyone that has weekends as a diet obstacle.

Take care and have a healthy day.
Marie

Marie 02-05-2005 12:52 PM

Lori, I knew I forgot something - the knitting machine. It's at Joann.com and called the Ultimate Bond Sweater Machine. It's about $140 and worth every penny. I'm having fun making the sweaters with yarn that I love. There's so much to choose from that I now have a stock pile that will last me the rest of the winter. It's really pretty easy once you get started and you don't have to know how to knit. I don't and I produce these cool sweaters and stuff.
Marie

lmatis 02-06-2005 09:43 AM

Well it's game day, the superbowl! Looks like Kerry is going to have her hands full! :dizzy: Since the game don't start until 6 I told my DH not to invite anybody over, too much work with getting everthing organized for back to work/school tommorrow. Jenn, next time you know their comming let me know, I have some really good low fat chips, dip, and pastry ideas.

I jumped on last night and caught up on recent activity, but one of my friends called and I never got back over here to post. Although I did get my work out in at 11 pm last night, I could kick myself for sitting around watching movies all day. Now I have a ton of laundry and house work to do! Oh well, typical weekend around here!

Christina, I'm glad to see your still hanging out! I think it would be weird dating somebody at work, I'ld kill my DH if we spent that much time together. :D I used to work at a call center and we had alot of couples work there, the ones that were more mature appeared much happier (as in not following each other around) I've seen that and boy can that get ugly! I don't remember, did you say what your major is now? What are you thinking about changing too? Wish I had a clue what I wanted to do when I grow up!

Marie, I don't know if you can call them supportive, I still wind up making extra food because they don't always like everything I make. I just like that they will try it. My DH would eat anything too! I like trying new stuff every week, keeps the whole diet thing more interesting. I haven't checked out the machine yet, maybe that can be something I can ask for for christmas, sound cool. And good luck with the mortgage refinancing!
Well I'm going to make breakfast so I'll check in shortly! Hey, I almost forgot, I PM'ed and emailed everybody with the short bio stuff to help with remembering everybody. If somebody wants me to add or change anything let me know! Do you guys want to do like a reciepe post? Maybe you guys could pm me and I could put it in one big post! Maybe this week, your favorite food, or anyother ideas??? If we go with this let's include nutrition facts since everybody is doing something different!

nasus40 02-06-2005 10:03 AM

Hi ladies. I am not new here I have been here for almost 5 years. I did great untill I changed jobs (first one closed and went on Un Empl for about 6 months then started up in a very stress ful job) I started 234/size 24 and lost to 169/size easy14 now I am up to 248 and tight 22. Not good I can not be a frequent flyer as not only do I work 50= hours a week for regular time but also add OT on off shifts, and have 3 kids still at home with sports work and running for all of them. SH is no help as I feel that my children need to be active or they will learn poor habits like I did when I was a child. He sits on the couch and yells at me so I take them my self make dinner work my butt off (don't I wish). and try to clean the house. some thing has to give some where  Now I am starting to get back to they gym. LOL like I needmore!! But I do need that and a little attention to my self. I alsofeel that very few people understand the desperate needs of an over worked woman with kids. food tend s to be a no brainer and fast foods are the ease of life. and the killer of a figure.

I Do LOW_CARB. and I do not know if there are any followers on this thread but I found that is the only way in the past that I have even come close to my goal of a size 8 (10 would be nice too, I would even settle for a 12, 14 does not sound horrible either)

diana I too am realy bad about keeping up with what and who every body is so I read and enjoy do not lurk (I just found this thread today) I will say I am not good about posting daily (Impossible) nor individual responces (even going back and reading all the post that I miss if gone for more than a few days) :o

So that is mY HI to all you folks here.

by the way I am 45 with 4 kids (19 f, 16 f, 11 b, 10 b) work as a Nurse manager and fill in for nurses when staffing is low and/or sick.

KYColonel 02-06-2005 10:33 AM

Thank you Sue!!!

Welcome Sue!

You can't believe how much I appreciated your post!! I was feeling really selfishly miserable, hating weekends--until I read your post. Good grief girl, compared to you, I should have lots of time to just sit around and eat bon-bons!
So here goes my weekend vent---I was up a lb this morning :ink:, I was not in the mood to go to church, I have laundry and house cleaning to do, am going this afternoon to pick the bagworm cocoons off a tree in front of one of my offices, and will spend a few hours at the other one finishing up some taxes. I didn't get my exercising in yesterday, but I seemed to by busy all day-HOW DID I GAIN??????????

Okay venting over, time to regroup :coffee:

I'm making pancakes for da boys (hubby and stepson), which is a good meal for me--I hate that sweet taste of syrup! So I will not be eating much of that. My downfall will be this afternoon during the game when I know that I will be making hot wings for the ones that inevitably show up to watch the big screen. Hey that might be a good time to be at the office :write: !

Note to all: If anyone hears about losing weight on an all carb diet--PLEASE let me know--I am so there!!!!!

Have a great game day, and thanks again Sue!

Joetta

lmatis 02-06-2005 10:47 AM

Joetta, I also made pancakes, blueberry my favorite! I don't know, I must be the carb queen because I refuse to give any of it up! :D Welcome Sue!! I'll get you a pm with names and short bio's and I'll have to get you added to the list! WOW, are you busy girl!! I hope we can help you get back in the swing of things!!

corgikid 02-06-2005 03:12 PM

Hi to all of us BUSY people out there. I work fulltime at a vet clinic, have been there about 6 years, after a full day there I clean a bank daily, than get home to dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, pygmy goats, a parrot and a cockatiel who are of course hundry. Plus I have a 12 yo son and a husband who thinks that dishes, laundry and meals are "womans" work! Than after that is done there is always the homework battle! So even though I am on the run all the time, I make bad food choices and have for years, I grab whatever is quickest and easiest, so naturally not that healthy! I am not a breakfast eater, which is bad, and more days than not I don't have or take time for lunch, so by night time I am starved. I am trying to change the lunch time routine and at least make a sandwich or something that I can eat on the run. As for making time for exercise, LOL, I haven't done that for a while. I like to walk and when I get into a routine I am pretty faithful about it, hoping that as soon as weather permits I can get back to walking, cause that is the only way I have found that any type of eating plan will work. I am looking forward to getting ideas from all of you!!! Good luck in the coming week, and hopefully we all will be losers! Take care, Lori

judydc 02-06-2005 05:30 PM

Is there a football game or something today?

Just kidding! Lori, I PM-ed you my bio, but here I'll just say that I'm a 47-year-old bachelorette, a nonprofit manager, and a confirmed foodie. My dream job is to be a restaurant critic for a daily newspaper.

This morning I met friends for a great Mardi Gras brunch. I definitely ate too much, but the food was really special, and I did eat mostly protein (seafood omelet)--but probably a whole stick of butter. I'll try to make up for it the rest of the day. I'm feeling pretty upbeat, because I'm not sick for a change, and as of today, I've lost a good 10 lbs since Christmas, despite some indulgences, workplace stress, flu bugs and snow storms. All of you who participate in these forums have been tremendously supportive, and I thank you! :grouphug:

To everybody struggling to find these threads: I've finally started using the 'subscribe' function on the control panel. If you want to keep up with this thread, for example, just go up to the top of this thread, click on Thread Tools, and choose Subscribe to This Thread. You can choose to get an email whenever someone adds to the thread. If you say no email alerts, then whenever you first log in, just look at your control panel, it will show you if there are any new posts in the threads you've subscribed to, or you can see a list of all the threads you've subscribed to, whether or not anyone's added anything. There's probably a less wordy way to to explain this, but it's the best I can do! :^: Anyway, it's made my time on 3FC a lot more productive.

Marie, thanks for sharing your website, your work is beautiful. And congrats with the mortgage. Let me know if you have any extra money you need help getting rid of....

Joetta, don't worry about the weight 'gain,' from day to day it's all so arbitrary, between hydration, bloating, hormones, digestion (sorry), many doctors say even if you weigh yourself at the same time every day, you should concentrate on the weekly averages, not the daily fluctuations. Plus, if you've been working out, then you're turning fat into muscle, which is 'heavier' but takes up a heck of a lot less space, and helps you burn off more fat....keep your chin up!

Gotta go and walk on the treadmill to atone for pigging out at brunch. More tomorrow.

Take care, y'all :goodluck:

Welcome Kansas Lori!

Welcome Lori!
My first post on 2fc was a reply to a post of yours, and heck if I remember what that was all about-or what thread it was-but I do remember thinking that it sounded as if we had a lot in common.

Update on my pancake/hot wings food plan for the day---scratch all that.
While I was mixing the pancake batter, my sister calls (who, by the way, happens to live 3 houses away--I LOVE IT!). She invited the family to Louisville to eat at Shalimar's, an Indian buffet. So off to the hog trough I went! Knowing that I would have to exercise long and hard this week to repair the damage, I knew it would be worth it. I took it easy on the first plate full, and was so full when I finished it, I could not go the second round!

I will still be making the hot wings for the game--but I will not be tempted with my belly full of curry!

Off to exercise! Oh, yeah, and to get the clothes out of the dryer.

Well it's Monday morning again, UGH!! I have to go out in the field this morning so I won't be around until lunch. My official weigh in was 164.5 that's a 1lb loss. Oh this is going to be soooo slow! It's a good thing though, as long as I'm seeing the numbers go down I should stick to it. These two weeks are always the toughest for me not to quit. (3 & 4) Having all you guys to chat with is helping big time, normally I'ld freek over only one pound after I worked my can off, but being with others who struggle too helps me remember I'm not alone! I wonder if this is going to be what is normal for me??? I was hoping for two pounds a week, but dropping 4 the first week should still put me at my target to lose 10 lbs by March 10th. (I have to go to the Dr. so this is my first goal) And it's is real important I get my weight back down so they don't play with my meds, I don't think I could stand that. I found the BEST fried chicken (low fat) reciepe I've ever had and I can't wait to share it. OH was it good, it was a big hit with the family, I'll be making it alot more (it's just not real fast. I got to run since I'm going out of the office today I have to be on time so I'll chat with you all later!!!

Hey Guys! Good monday morning! :dizzy: Hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent mine at work!! I have fallen off track a little. I have not been to Curves since last Wednesday!!! :o Plus I didn't stick to my meal plan 100% over the weekend. I don't think that I really went over my calorie limit but I still didn't do as well as I should have done!

Lori~ I have a feeling that when I weigh in today I will have only lost 1 lb too, if even that! I get a little frustrated when I weigh myself. Every scale I step on shows something different. I have been using the one at Curves to track my weight loss. It is a little more than the one at home but it is the weight that they are tracking at Curves so I figure that should be the one that I use.

Well, hope everyone has a great start to this new week. I need to get off my butt so I can get to Curves!! :tread:

lpnin03 02-07-2005 10:17 AM

:cb: :cb: HAPPY DAY!! HAPPY DAY!! Lost 4 lbs this past week!! :cb: :cb:

Can you tell that I'm just a little excited!!?? I really didn't think that I did that well this past week. I think that I am going to join WW tomorrow. The lady that runs Curves also runs the WW meeting in my area. We had a long discussion today about my meal plan and I think that I am going to give WW another try. I was in WW a few years ago and did really well with it but then I started working crazy hours and couldn't attend meetings anymore and just stopped going and following the plan. I would like to get started before I go on my cruise so that I don't gain all my weight plus some back.

Well, have to run. Have a dentist appointment in 45 minutes. :stress:

Hello! It's me again!! I just found this web site that is pretty cool. www.calorie-count.com It gives nutritional info on all sorts of food plus you can figure up how many calories you need each day based on your activity level.

judydc 02-07-2005 03:03 PM

Congratulations, Jenn!

Can't stay, just trying to distract myself from the cookies a colleague brought to work. Will have to eat my protein bar a little earlier than usual this afternoon, I think.....

more later--judy

Good morning everybody, hope your week is going well!! :coffee: I had an interesting day at work yesterday, I went out with one of our drivers to pump out some yucky greas/oil. It was like sludge, and took a long time to fill the truck up. We got the truck stuck and the material wasn't what we were told we were getting, it was a real eye opener and a good learning experience. It's hard to talk to customers about what they want us to get rid of for them, I don't know if they just plain out lie or just don't know. But when they don't give us the correct info on the material we can't send the right equipment. Ok, sorry to bore you. I made choclate mosse (I'm expecting my monthly soon) so I want to be ready when that craving hits! I have sooo much to get done this week, needles to say I didn't get much done over the weekend so now I'm busting butt to try to get the dust under control. Last night was animal night, two cat litters cleaned and a hamster cage. I also folded 10 loads of laundry, I had no idea boys could go through so many clothes. :D Ok, I had a boring day yesterday and the rest of the week is looking to be about the same excitment level. I did work out and ate good so I'm still working! I'm going to get my shower and head to work since I don't have anything exciting to tell you guys!!!

nasus40 02-08-2005 05:39 PM

My Monmday was the pits lets say that I worked from 3 am to 9 pm. and Was woken by the dog at 4:30 this am. I will say that I did work out this morning. I have about 3 more 12 hour shifts to do this week if I am lucky I can bow out of one of the management days, HHHMMM I am trying to figure out which one and really can not see any of them that it is possible.I guess i will be sleeping all sat. (have to do a night shift then and a swim meet on sunday about 1.5 hours drive away.)

I have been OP mostly for my diet but I can not promise to stay that way. (Except for the pizza on sunday but I did limit my self)

Way to go all you loosers!! It sure takes dedication and hard work. One day I will be joining you with weight loss!! for now I jumped on the scale and it did not budge. I can live with that as long as it is not going up!!!

Catch you all when I have a min!

lmatis 02-08-2005 06:59 PM

Hey I'm getting lonely!!! Where is everybody??? Somebody brought in a Fat-Tuesday cake!! All that icing almost made me sick looking at it! I wonder if that's a good thing? I have to keep telling everybody I'm trying to lose 10 lbs before I go to the Dr., they keep bringing food and want you to eat, eat, eat! Mentioning the diet is the only thing that keeps them from force feeding ya!

Sue you poor thing, nothing makes me feel worse than no sleep! Hang in there, and I'm glad you maintained (it's a step in the right direction!)

How did everbody elses weigh ins go???

judydc 02-08-2005 07:07 PM

Hi, again--

Trying to stay centered in during a frantic week at work. We have a campaign in response to the proposed federal budget cuts, and our board of directors is meeting this weekend, so everyone is busy, tired and testy....just the type of situation that makes me want to eat sweet and/or crunchy food non-stop. I am feeling "hungry" lately, but I know it's not my stomach, so I'm pounding down water and decaf tea, and heading home for dinner soon.

It's that time of the month, so I'm allowing myself some foods that aren't on my plan (a cup of chili, some sweet potato gumbo) as a way of appeasing myself without doing too much damage. I did make it to the gym yesterday, and the weather is nice right now, so I've been able to get a little walking in before and after work. But I had to see the podiatrist yestercay, and now I'm wearing a special pad on my foot to soothe a neuroma or something. But I'm walking anyway, it's not so bad.

And regarding life not being exciting enough to post: Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!

If I go missing--check the police blotter!!! I am ready to kill my business partner! Lets just say that I am a bit conservative and he is .....well.....not!
I love the guy dearly-but I still wanna kill!!! (This business partner that makes me crazy also happens to be a Baptist minister and a professional Mime!)

I just dropped the munchkin off for a bball game, so I will get on the cross-country skier and get some calories burnt off!

Later gals!

lmatis 02-09-2005 06:26 AM

Good morning gang! :coffee:
It's Wed. and the week is slowly dragging on. I feel like a dork, I forgot about the time zone difference when I posted yesterday wanting to know where everybody was. :^: I am sooo glad I made those choclate bars, the monthly thing hit today so I know I'll be craving the choclate! I will be interested to see if the cramps are any better since I have been working out now for three weeks. I hope the bloat thing don't hang around too long, I really get this bad! We have fog issues this morning so I'm going to have to give myself some extra time to get to work this morning.

Judy, I'll try not to wish for too much excitment :D ! You know how the blah from the same day to day routine gets too you! I hope your foot gets better, I twisted my ankle on the icy porch a couple of weeks ago man was that bad. It's better now but I looked pretty silly limping around!

Joetta, how does someone get into being a professional mime? I can see the head lines now "Woman snaps and kills the mime minister"

Ok, I'm going to jump in the shower and get to work!!! C'mon I want to hear how everybody else is doing!!!!

lpnin03 02-09-2005 08:35 AM

Good morning everyone! :coffee: Well yesterday was a total waste of a day. I was off and didn't manage to get anything done but go to Curves, go to the tanning bed (gotta be tan before this trip, plus cellulite looks better tan) and make it to my first WW meeting. We did go vistit my friend with the new baby last night but before we went there my DH wanted to try this new hamburger joint. OH MY GOSH!!! :dizzy: I could blow my weight loss all to heck at that place. They have the BEST burgers and homemade fries. I didn't feel too guilty cause that is about all I ate yesterday. I did leave there feeling so stuffed I thought I would be sick. :p

Today it will be my plan 100%. There is just something about going to WW and getting on those scales just to see that it went up instead of down. Next Monday is my 4 weeks at Curves so I get to do my measurements again to see how many inches I have lost. I can tell in my clothes that I have lost some. The other night I put these jeans on and my DH said that he could tell that I was losing because those jeans use to be tight. I told him he better watch out cause soon I would be too sexy for him!! :D I'm also noticing that my boobs are getting a little smaller. I think that I will go to Victoria's Secret this weekend to buy some new bras. I have stretched all of my others out quite a bit. :o

Well ladies, I better get off this darn computer and get something done today before I have to go to work. :D

Hi everyone, sorry it's been a few days since I posted but life has been busy and I haven't been all that good. Not too bad food wise, but I did eat more than I should have. I noticed it is so easy to slip off calorie counting and I decided to stay off. No counting anything anymore. I am going to have small portions of whatever meal is being made. I've lost weight this way before and it's something I can do for the rest of my life. It just blows me away how fast I could fail when counting calories so that's what sparked the change.

Tonight is exercise night and I'm looking forward to it. I haven't been in the mood to exercise, but today I am. I just hope I still will be when I get home tonight. By evening I'm so exhausted from work that I just want to vegetate.

Well, back to work. I just wanted to check in. BTW, Jenn and Lori great going on the weight loss. You're doing it right!
Marie

I'm stil here!

I've been so overwhelmed lately and I have gotten off track. I think I almost gained a pound back :( but I am back at it again and feeling a bit better about things. It was hard with my in-laws here for FIVE days!

I am also super-duper stressed! :stress: My job is pt/temp and was supposed to go ft/perm, well it is not looking good. :( Hence, I am on the job hunt and thinking about possible relocation. I have a DH that is right smack in the middle of his BFA. I honestly can't believe it is all coming down to this.

Of course all of this makes me want to eat. I really wanted to make some brownies or chocolate cake. But I have resisted and just had a few chocolate chip cookies - the mini Famous Amos. That's my only treat.

So that's what is up with me. Sorry I'm not keeping up better. It is just a hard time right now. I am really trying to stay on my diet and lose lose lose. God knows it's one of the few things that has made me feel better about myself lately. The easier I fit in that interview suit the better! ;)

It sounds like I am not alone on the chocolate temptations around here either! ;) And that makes me feel less alone. :)

nasus40 02-09-2005 05:56 PM

Another long day at work. I am tired. and well it was less stresses full as the boss was not there. and dress down day. I do have several clods working for me. OMG why do they do such stupid things????

Enough of that. I am OP sort of. I did not get breakfast so I ate 2 pieces of choc one of my discharges brought to me. I do not have time to see the gym yet this week except for yesterday morning. water is still such a task soon though it will be second nature.

Hope all have a good end of the week.

KYColonel 02-09-2005 06:33 PM

Hey all,
Sounds like a tough week all the way around for the gang.

This is where the rubber meets the road--

We have been dealing with butt-head employers, employees, customers, partners, restaurants that make great burgers, hormones that cause bloating, and last but far from least---IN LAWS FOR 5 DAYS!!!

We shall overcome!!!!

I'm quite certain that someone superglued my scale--but I am determined to beat this thing!

Kerry, I would have lost weight if my in-laws had been here for 5 days! The blood flowing from the slits in my wrists would have that scale moving downward quickly!

Chin up girls, or in my case, chins up!

Joetta
