(oops I hit the wrong button!!! )
.....to contine my thoughts..... to my world wide chickies. Don't know where I'd be without you guys to to sometimes.
1st August!!! Where has the time flown to this year? Only another 4 weeks and I hope to be off to London to have tea with H.M. I should be so lucky !!
It has seemed this year that the nights are drawing in more quickly than usual. By 22:00hrs it was almost pitch black out in the garden...
Well chicks...the eyes are feeling all stingy and tired now so I think it may be time to head back to bed (again!) so I will depart now and try and salvage what's rest of the night.
Hope the day is going according to plan, Shad and that Linus and the rest of Scotland are happily snoring and soon it will be good night to Happy and Mel and Shad can have the sandpit all to herself. Build a nice big mansion of a sandcastle, Shad, so we can all come and have tea!!!
Thank you all again....

Default Hey ......... YOu girls are so strong

Morning all , I am inspired once again from these unique personalities that come here to share. Miss Teel, this is a powerful bunch of woman who really tell it like it is and with Love too! I might add my two cents too...... As woman of substance which of course we all are!!!!!! There are issues within each of us that sometimes surface for no understandable reason. If you find yourself feeling the burden of an event that happened in your past and especially in your childhood. W e truly need to be receptive to the idea that your Spirit wants to move past the experience and is ready for some healing. There are often many situations that we take undue responsibility for that are ugly events. To put in behind us we must relize that we were the child and that if an adult is involved the burden lies with them. The ability to shift the blame and put the anger where it should be placed. The ability to forgive ourselves is an easy statement to make but it takes some processing to do it and to feel it. My heart was touched by your honesty. We survive so many things in our life and will slay dragons for our children and families but sometimes the most difficult battles are the ones we wage in silence. All of us are here for each other and stand united with words of wisdom, some loud yelling or a good bawling out whenever it is required!!!!!!!!! Please feel free to pm me if you ever need to shed a tear or sing of a victory! This may sound odd but alot of people after having traveled just recently sometimes go into depression or funk for no apparent reason.....I worked with a girl and when we had to go on trips for business and sometimes pleasure I had to help her through the being at home bit again.
Yesterday, I weeded whacked my knapweed that insidious weed plaquing the western lands for 4 hours. I stopped when the salt from my sweat was burning my eyes. This morning I am at it again for how ever long it takes. And then I have to stop procrasinating and go to the office to complete some work too!!!!! Give me strength.
I am up for the sand castle building lots of good sand in oz to idle away the hours shall we meet down under...... ?????? Take care ladies and enjoy the day what ever it brings your way.....
Peace,
Nae

Sorry I missed all the action!! MISS TEEL....WHAT WERE YOU THINKING????? NOT!!!!!!! i WON'T REPEAT ALL THE SAME AS THE OTHERS WROTE BUT MY EYES BUGGED OUT WHEN I READ YOUR POST!!!! MUST HAVE BEEN A BAD DAY!!!!! But seriously....it's just everything. The physical bits, the traveling, realizing limitations, the future and it's many uncertainties, etc. You're overwhelmed with so much that I am surprised you haven't screamed out before!!! You should hear me over here. I sound positively maniacal at times!!! :lol; I think it's good to get things out of your system and get's a person a clearer head! Like dusting. You are very nice to look at and I won't even go there!!!
You know what you said is untrue. You want ugly and a laugh.........look at MY picture! Good to see
you posted since then with a better day! (((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) Good luck with the challenge this month!!

Linus~ You made me almost laugh and cry with the Dad/DH thing. PARENTS!!! lol Hope you didn't knick any toes when shaving. My toe felt squeamish when I read the razor part!
a friend got me a 23" telly last year and now I can watch TV with no glasses on! Then I saw these huge jobbies!! WOW!! Like MOVIES in your own home!!! Hope you continue to improve in health!!! (((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))

Shad~ Does the son have a place already near the job?? Did I miss something?? LOL Hope he has good luck over there. I am sure he will be watching out for a space for you too. i will be glad to pull you guys up the bridge and then push you down.....wheeeeeeeeeeee! ((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) for that crappy scale of yours. Thiss too shall pass! You are such a determined and motivated person!!

Nae~ I adored the story. I love them as you also know. Miss armchair traveler. glad you had such a grand time and nature stuff like that always attracts me. shad has some great travel pics from all over/ Happy and the DH too. Hope the killer weeds don't win the fight. You need many gallons of "round-up" I think it's called!!! We have yet to see the moon. I should have set the alarm cause it is raining when I go to bed! (sigh) Good thing you got back from the River of No Return!! Who else would have gotten the hummingbird out and free?!?!?

Happy~ I am polishing up the chair and getting a wagon ready. Off we go to the next bridge race. Summer at Nae's and Winter at Shad's will be fine with me. When do we leave??? I told Shad she should start up a B & B!!! Nice food choices and good luck with the challenge. Good luck with interviews and the "interest" starting to happen. Scary and happy at the same time. I understand.((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))

Well I am a happy person. 1.5 lbs lighter than last month, feet looking much improved (toe is healing nicely too), no inches lost this time, eyes and face looking OK too. Guess I cannot complain. I had a VERY busy day with alarms. Just when I got started doing something for myself, another one went off!!! The last one was at 4:15 AM!!! I was exhausted. Remind me never to say I'm having a LAZY day for myself! I had the PC on all day and never got to it again!! Went to bed about 12 but was so wound up I saw 2 AM come before the eyes and brain would shut down. Then up again at 4 so I slept in to 8:30 after coming back. So I am off to the kitchen to make some more salad and veggies. I have decided not to have potatoes this week and see what gives. Me or the scale! Have a great day and be well.

Morning all,
It's 8.31am on a sunny Monday morning and the world is back to work - although you wouldn't notice it from my computer desk. It's quiet and sunny and still. My weeds are (sort of) under control but unless vigilance is asserted, then they won't be for long.

It's good to hear that we are feeling and looking better than last week. Hey MEL congratulations on the 1.5 down. I'm completely stoked for you. 'Nae, nice post. You are a very wise lady. And it is great to hear Kirsty sounding a lot more chipper and dishing it out to the Dad and the DH

Found an article in the local Sunday rag yesterday. It's in the lift out called Body and Soul. The article is called 'there is nothing to fear'. I'm not going to reproduce the lot but it seems that we might all get something out of it, so I will only post the main points.

'there's nothing to fear'
Face up to what scares you and you may end up living your dream life. (by Chris Sheedy)
If you'd like to give fear the flick and bring peace of mind into your life, consider the "Four C's". Petrea King's recipe for happiness and peace of mind.

Control For a sense of control over life, try to consciously choose your responses to life's challenges, rather than reacting habitually. The focus here is to recognise that while we can't always change what happens to us, we can change our response to what happens to us.

commitment To feel committed to life we must be willing to become emotionally up-to-date. This means refocusing our priorities, forgiving ourselves and others, or resolving relationship difficulties. We must resolve and learn from past issues.

Challenge We must feel challenged and excited by our lives. What is it that gets our juices flowing? Is there meaning in our suffering? Are we living our dream? We must feel we're living the lives we came here to live.

Connection A sense of connection is crucial. We all need to know that we're loved and supported by those we share our life with, that we have a sense of belonging or place, or are connected to what we consider sacred or divine.

PS Petrea King is the CEO of the Quest for life Foundation. She is also part f the medical profession. She has suffered cancer, rape, drug addiction, divorce and a brother who committed suicide. Her thoughts on life include the following:
"When you face death most people become more alive than they have ever been. They are grateful for the experience"

As good a note as any to go out on. Catch up later.

Default August and a new commitment :)

Hello all

Shad mentioned this forum so... I came by

I am married, have two little girls, ages 4 and 6 and live in British Columbia, Canada. I have been trying to get my head into the slimming zone since January this year when I started hanging out in the journals on this site. I am a stay at home mom, I am a moderator at a website for amputees (I'm not an amputee, I just liked the energy there and stayed) I adore Antonio Banderas and listen to Matchbox Twenty for pleasure and relaxation. I am a strong believer in positive self talk and am a bit of a quote maven. I have quotes taped up all around the computer and have a belief that they feed me everyday to try harder and be better. Everyone in my family has weight issues. I grew up in an atmosphere of food is love and finish your plate mentality. You must share food to show love, refusing birthday cake is an insult, etc. My biggest hurdle to overcome is making time to sweat. The mornings don't work for me but if I wait till the afternoon the routine of the day gets in my way. I am tired of making excuses for not doing it so I have been just grabbing time... 15 minutes on the bike after breakfast, bellydancing tape after dinner or before where ever I can. This is just the first step to getting myself into it. I hope that my body is going to start craving that feeling of blood flow and warm sweat dripping, that rejuvenation of self that comes from taking care of my body's needs by moving. I do alright on food choices, just need to say no thankyou more often when stuff is offered and work on my mind to not feel that I have deprived myself of something that I will never be able to taste again Yes, my head plays tricks on me like that, "you must taste the cake... you will never have the chance for that flavour in your mouth again!" Sad really to think how much pleasure I get from food, must work on finding fun alternatives

I look forward to getting to know you all and be a useful supporter in your journeys to your slimmer selves.

Oh good, I'm glad you dropped by. The others will be in to chat as time permits and the worlds time zones roll around.
British Columbia, you must be the most westerly of those on the American Continent. Good oh, we have Mel on the East Coast, Happy in the Mid West and Roseblush in Idaho. Linus is in Scotland and Teel in England. Moving slowly, slowly westward. I'll have you all drifting over here soon!!!!! Then it will be party time.
Welcome Meadow. We are nuts most of the time, however these are the most supportive and helpful ladies I know. There is always someone to offer advice, help and plain old good friendship here. Drop by for any time.

Question!!!!!! - what do you fill yourself up on if you don't eat bread????? If I have cereal in the morning, I'm fine until just before lunch. If I don't and have eggs or something - then the backbone is about to ravish the ribs by 10. Ditto for lunch. A salad with tuna or whatever leaves me reaching for the fruitbowl and biscuit barrell come 4.00pm. The fruits okay, but again, I'm about to eat the horse and chase the rider come half an hour later. I'm not a good snacker and prefer the 3 squares but not having the carbs is causing a problem. Any answers???

Anyone for a mug of coffee? I even have some semi skimmed milk in the fridge which is very unusual for me
Welcome to Meadow. What a pretty vision that conjurs up..all summer flowers and grasses blowing gently in the breeze! Is that why you chose it?
I am the English Teel aforementioned. I am now 40 years old (and 6 weeks!) and I live in East Anglia which is on the east bit of England, but lower down towards the south. I won't bore you and everyone else with personal details as you can find all these in my profile...
As Shad said, we are all nutcases but the girls are very supportive when the need arises...and believe me, the need arises rather a lot for me, as you'll see by reading the posts!!
Shad, have you heard about the GI diet? GI is for glycaemic index...all foods have a GI rating and apparently foods with a low or moderate index are better for the body's digestion as they digest more slowly and release carbohydrates in to the body at a slower rate so the blood sugar levels don't rise fast and then fall just as fast, but rather they slope up and hold for a great deal longer before gently falling away again. There is even a difference between white long grain rice and Basmati...the latter being the better of the two.
Hope you get some good replies to you C.V.'s this week..hang on to everything you can!!
Mel, thanks for your post too. You took the words right out of my mouth! You are absolutely correct. It IS everything that is getting me down at the moment. the physical bits, the mental bits, the skipping around with still properly undiagnosed chest pain, having my meds changed again.. I have also lost my sleep pattern. Last night I went to bed at about 22:00, was awake at 23:35! Went back to sleep and woke at 02:00..let Holly out and she sprinted at the speed of light to the bottom of the garden wher she had a very one sided ferocious and noisy conversation with a large heggie that had come out from under the garden shed! Back to bed...was awake at 04:00...took the washing out of the machine...went back for what turned out to be the best sleep of the night and got up at 08:30. I would dearly love to go back to bed but I have an apppointment with my social worker at 11:00hrs and I need to shower and wash hair....
It is 16 degrees here this morning but it feels quite cold. Very grey out, the sun hasn't broken through yet.
I had better go and start the day....I have even had brekkie ! Yoghurt with pineapple and melon chunks....here we are on day 3

Teel~ I know that "EVERYTHING" feeling so well that we have almost become friends! Glad you got some added sleep. Maybe when it all calms down a bit you will get back on schedule. Hang in there and good luck with day3!! I have come to love yogurt, cottage cheese and mellons!! YUM YUM!! Enjoy!

Meadow~ Welcome my Quoting Friend!! so nice to see you here already!! You already know me so I guess I can skip the intro! You have been a very supportive friend this year and I thank you. Your quotes have also kept me going or given me something to think about so keep it coming. I too have things in journals, post-it notes and scribbled on scraps of paper. Hope you make the time for yourself and get healthier with the rest of us!! We all have our struggles but plod along none the less! Welcome again!

Shad~ I really liket Petrea and her ideas. I jotted notes to self and will re-read tonite. I like to read something positive before bed. Not just the latest murder mystery! I have never forgotton something you said on the phone. If ypou could teach one Yank to slow down....... Well I am proof that your wish was my command! I have sowed down tremendously and now I respond much more than the usual reacting. I also am going to try and teach this to Jen who could belong to Ruth's Hyper-pyper family! Thanks for the encouragement! Hope the day brings you happiness.

Linus~ What case?? I got lost in your post! Maybe I'm not awake yet! LOLOL You sound better. Are you??? Just don't go nuts the minute you're feeling more yourself!! We all know you too well now! The second you feel better you'll be

Nae~I am surprised I didn't dream of rapids and cliffs!! It was very entertaing and you are another great storyteller. We seem to have some great ones here. You all keep me so well "travelled"!!!
Has the hummingbird come back?? maybe she thinks it's her home now too

Well kids......I took sinus meds and will be a vegetable of sorts today. I learned a lesson and will put ALL the pills into the daily box so as not to forget. Spoke with the pharmacist and he said that was the purpose of this pill....DAILY!!! OK so I will.
Have a great day Wordly Chicks and be good to yourselves!
