Holly: I've gone thru the same thing with Dh. His mother was a sahm and his father was disabled for most of dh life so his mother did everything and in our 20-30 he expected it from me. He didn't want me to work. The men he grew up around did nothing to help their wives. When I did start working he never would do anything to help. Just the oppsite, it seemed like I never could do anything to please him. Now he's that he's an old fart. He'll jump in and clear the table or do dishes. Just hang in there.

Susie: :grouphug: Hope the rest of your day was better. Take time to do something just for you.

Debbie 11-07-2005 08:41 PM

I forgot to tell ya'll earlier. I'm down 4 lbs from last month at curves. I lost the paper they gave me but I lost several inches, I know it's true because of how my clothes fit or don't as it may be. I still weigh the same as I did at work so I don't need to change my tracker. I'm only going to weigh at curves on mondays from now on. The scales at work seem to vary too much.
I threw my old scales out because I'm compulsive about them. I do better when I weigh no more often than weekly.

Have a great night, (((hug)))

annie175 11-08-2005 07:57 AM

Good Morning All......

Sorry about being awol lately. Last week was ****. Dad went back into the hospital, so I spent the majority of my week there. Plus being sick, sick, sick, missed a day of work, went to the doc, had sinus infection, upper rep. infection and fluid in my ears, but they were not infected. Doc gave me KETEK a newer drug and believe it or not, I felt much better the next day.

Dad had a block vein (one they already replaced 16 years ago), and it was deteriorating. Docs didn't want to balloon, stent, or bypass again, as his heart is not in good shape, so they were saying there was nothing they could do for him. Doom and gloom, then lo and behold on Thursday night, docs said they would go ahead and try to stent that vein on Friday morning. Risks: stroke, heart attack or death during surgery. God and the angels were with us. He came through the surgery with flying colors, feels great, and even came home Saturday evening. Mom said he was cleaning windows and brooming the porch yesterday. What a remarkable miracle. Thank you Jesus for hearing our prayers. Dad goes back next month for a "extra" lead added off his pace maker to the back side of his heart where most of the damage is. This surgery is NOT supposed to be risky. Please keep dad in your prayers.

Didn't make it to WW last week or this week, but according to my scales at home, I am either the same or down 1. I am planning on going back next week. Starting back at Curves tonight. Was too sick and at the hospital to go to WW or Curves last week.

Took my DD who turned 20, yes that is 20, bout makes me cry, to see Keith Urban in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, which is about 3.5 hours away from home. OMG he is just gorgeous and very talented, he plays the guitar, keyboards and percussion, and sings adorably. Big Little Town opened for him, and they are really, really good. I had never heard of them, or even knew any of Keith Urbans songs, as I don't listen to country much or any for that matter. I am in love with Keith now. hehe. Got home at 4 in the morning Monday, so took a vac day yesterday to recover. Went to my cleaning at the dentist and got hair done, went home and went to bed. (Thus missing WW and Curves last night).

Holly-you are one busy chicken, may the forces be with you. I love kitties and they love me, however I am so allergic to them, my eyes swell shut. Guess I will just stick to my doggie, Bella.

Susie- good luck on the job interview, I KNOW you will get that one. Great loss at Tops too! and I love your email addy, very creative.

Debbie-See you at Curves, hehe, wish we could go together. 4 lbs down is awesome!. all the while buiding muscles.

Hello to everyone else. I will try to be here more this week. No, I WILL be here more this week.

I missed you and love ya chickies.

MyChoice2bfit 11-08-2005 08:55 AM

Good morning,
Well, I'm feeling a little better this morning. Yesterday I was suffering from some sort of stomach aliment. I had been dealing with it since Friday night and I was really getting tired of feeling bad.

I've not really ate much of anything, but today I don't feel sick so that's a good start.

I'm afraid that I'll have a gain on Thursday because I tend to do that when I'm sick. I don't know if my body just goes into protection mode and hangs on to the calories that I am taking in. I'm just going to be very careful what I eat the next few days and start back on the water. I had a lot of rootbeer, it's not acidic and I can drink it, when I have a stomach ache I just can't do water and with IC, tea or coffee is not an option.

My interview is today at 11:30 a.m. I'm excited and scared at the same time.

I'm hoping to make it to Pilates tonight. If not that I will at least walk. I've got to move this body.

Debbie: I'm so excited about your 4 lb loss! :carrot: You are doing so well!

Holly: Did you have a OP day yesterday?

Annie: Nice to see you again. That's wonderful news about your dad's surgery. I'll keep him in my prayers concering the upcoming surgery. I'm not a country music fan, but I do know who Keigh Urban is and he is HOT! I like his voice as well. Ft. Wayne is about 4 hours from where I live in Ohio. I had a seminar there once and it was the first time I ever went anywhere that far away on my own. My boss from my old job was going to go with me but had to cancel, so I went by myself. It was so liberating to go somewhere that I had never been and do it by myself.

Well I better get to work. I'll let you know how the interview goes, it's at 11:30 a.m.today.

Susie

MyChoice2bfit 11-09-2005 09:30 AM

Hello,
The interview went well and I'm very interested in the position and I hope they make me an offer. I feel that they are strongly considering me.

I had a small food victory yesterday. I went into the break room and there were some peanut butter cookies left from a meeting. I love peanut butter cookies. It was about 4:30 p.m. I had my lunch at 12:00. I was hungry. I knew that my dinner would be a late night dinner due to Pilates class (I can't eat anything heavy before that class and usually wait until it's over to eat). I had one cookie; I thought about having two, but told myself that one would take the edge off and it would taste so good because I needed to savor it, it was all I was allowing myself. I feel this is a victory because I ate it AND stayed in control.

I haven't journaled my food, thoughts, or exercise in a few days. I need to sit down today and make that a priority today.

Holly: Your journal shows you had a good day yesterday...make today one too! Thanks for the positive vibes.

Debbie: Isn't it a wonderful feeling to be able to move around easier? You are reaping your rewards.

Susie

Hollyhock 11-09-2005 10:29 AM

Susie~ fingers crossed for an offer!!!
Hi Debbie!!
Major thunder storm over night and I didn’t hear a thing.
Yesterday went well. I am still getting tired in the afts so I need to rest. I MADE myself lay down for 45 min. It is soooo hard not to pop up and do stuff. It was a beautiful 17C. All the kids were outside. I did some raking and gave the kids wheelbarrow rides.
The hockey running around went well. I made the SB tacobake without the beans, served it on a pile of romaine. YUM!!
DD and I did some Avon deliveries and then painted our toes.
Phone started ringing this morning at 7. I have signed forms and had people coming and going ever since. Hubby is home cause of the weather. I have a call in to the Massage therapist for is back.
Quiet day with kids. boooooooom more thunder. I love storms.

:carrot: Great job controlling the cookie monster.

WHERE ALL MY VEGGIES??? :(

MyChoice2bfit 11-10-2005 08:24 AM

Hello,
Tonight is a weigh-in night for me. I'm hoping that I lost something...or stayed the same. I was off track a little at the first of the week with the stomach thing and drinking all that rootbeer and eating all those crackers. I'm worried about a little fluid retention because of that.

My goal yesterday was to get my food journal done and my feelings journal done. I hadn't written in them since last Friday when I started feeling sick. I did get it done last night. It sure helps me to journal.

Holly: Your goal was to eat with awareness. I'd love to hear how you did and what you did to achieve that. I think it's something I need to work on as well.

Debbie: You are so right about journaling. I was reading that we should go back over our journal entries every 3-4 weeks so we can really get a good recap of what's been going on and see what we like to keep happening and change those things that we don't like.

I've got some things to do this morning, so I better get to it.

Susie

Hellooooooooooooo.

Times are tough, money is tight, and I don't care!!

I have decided to quit worrying about things and what will be, will be. DD ran cell bill up to 500.00 bucks, and the dang thing is now turned OFF. IF, and that is a big IF, I get them turned back on, I am not reactivating DDs. She can get her own plan.

Tough LOVE, haha

My eating has suckieeed for the past two days. Too much mexican food lately. I love that stuff.

Daddy-Oh is doing great. Washed windows and broomed the front porch. That is more than he has done in 78 yrs of life. He should of had that heart surgery years ago according to my mom. haha

Susie- Glad you did well on your job interview. I am sure good things will come to you.

Debbie-I feel the veggies coming your way. OPEN WIDE....yum!

Holly- I love reading your daily journal. Kitty is cute too!

Everyone else, come out, come out, where ever you are! and Hidee HO!!

Have a wonderful evening.

Debbie 11-10-2005 09:53 PM

Hello everyone,
I just walked in from work. An 11 hr day, mostly walking. It's to the showers and to bed for me. I just wanted to check in real fast.

Annie: Sometimes you just have to use tough love. The bills add up so quick.
Dh and I have a shared plan with unlimited mobile to mobile. The best is my sister in ga has the same plan and we can talk for hours. Love that

Susie: :goodscale: How was your WI?

Holly: (((HUG)))

B- Yogurt,applesauce
L-Pinto beans, cornbread and fried green tomatos
D-roasted chicken breast

MyChoice2bfit 11-11-2005 10:54 AM

Good morning,
Just a quick note here, I'm a little busy at work this morning.

I had a loss last night. :carrot: I lost 1/2 lb..I'm happy..it's a loss and that's my plan for now to show something of a loss each week.

I have not heard anything from my interview, maybe I'll hear something next week.

Annie: Tough love is important. It's better that you teach your kids about the tough things in life than them having to muddle through it on their own later. It's building character in them.

Debbie: You put in some long hours lady. Your food from yesterday looked good

Holly: What's going on with you? I love reading your journal. I know that you have a writer in there just struggling to get out.

I've got to run.
Susie

Hollyhock 11-11-2005 11:54 AM

I advocate tough love. Someone shoulda used it with me! LOL!!!

Keep on Ladies!!!!!!

Life is grand. I had a delightful day yesterday.
This morning was fab too. No extra kids. My angels were angels. Lots of good convo, laughter.... Of course, now I start to think is it a mistake to have all these extra kids here. But then I know without a doubt we need the income and the other choices would stink. Needless to say I am lovin this morning!!! DS is off to school. DD is playing house with the kitten.
I do have 2 kids coming for the morning soon and we will go to play group.

Hollyhock 11-13-2005 12:03 PM

One day at a time.My days are so full that I really do live one day at a time. I live in the moment. I do plan my day 1 day ahead. I put everything on my calendar sometimes hour by hour. So yesterday I realized it was Nov 13 and we are having hubby’s family here for Christmas dinner next Sunday on the 20th. It really crept up on me. So today i will plan the meal and delegate side dishes. Hubby’s folks will pay for the turkey. I want to decorate for Christmas to make it festive. We dont do gifts but it should still feel like Christmas. This will be the first year we are not all together right at Christmas. Thanksgiving was good just the 4 of us here and we will only spend an afternoon at my Sis’s christmas day. I am loving this!!!

I still have residual anger towards my aunt. With any other person I would try and work it out but I have learned that in the past when I thought we had had good open convo about things it was a a lie and manipulation on her part so there is no point. I actually donated gifts she has given me in the last few years to the playschool silent auction. Every time I looked at them I cringed at the duplicity they were given with.Hopefully they will raise a lot of money.

Yesterday was a pefect Saturday. it was sunny and breezy and cool. I had a great morning at the market. I came home and had a yummy lunch. Hubby and I did yard work together. I love that.Kinda turns me on LOL! The kids stayed in jammies til supper and watched cartoons and coloured and played with the kitties. I went into town for an errand and the grocery store had beautiful halloween costumes on special for $4/reg over $20. I bought kitty and puppy costumes for dress up. And makeup kits for 44 cents. What a blast. Very exciting!!!
We had a quick supper, DD went next door and then we went to hockey. I took 2 Avon orders there.giggle.
I watched all the decorating shows onTLC ( love their Sat night) and folded laundry and tidied up. This aft i will clean.
We have church this morning. Hubby and the kids are going skating at 2. I really want to go watch but also have tons to do here. I like to skate too but hubby gets worried cause I have a bad foot and he doesn’t want me to get hurt.
I made a curry peanut dip to have with some left over shrimp from dinner yesterday as my snack last night. it was yummy. The problem is that I would have eaten twice as much if there was more. I did go browse the cupboards but didn’t eat more.
Okay need to get the kids in the tub and me in the tub and get ready for church at 10:15.

Love to the chickies!!!!

JEO1982 11-13-2005 02:21 PM

Good afternoon ladies!

I am only three days into my new plan to lose weight and keep it off (for good this time) and I am already feeling in a lull. I know it is too early to say that, but I am coming down with something that the little girl I watch brought home and I am sore all over... The plus side is I am not the least bit hungry so it might help me get used to smaller portions quicker.

Yesterday was good other than feeling under the weather. We went out to get a new matress because even hubby is starting to feel sore in the morning. We should have it on Friday :carrot: I was very proud of myself after the shopping trip because I resisted temptation... The furniture store had a "on the house" cafe and we had to wait there for the salesman to process the order. There were all kinds of cookies and even ice cream all free and taunting me with their wonderful smells, but I had nothing other than a drink of sugarless lemonade :D It may be this cold/flu thing I'm getting that helped me do it, but I don't care, I still did it and I am going to pat myself on the back for small victories this time, because every step(no matter how small) is just that much closer to goal.

Now it is time to go look for shelving... I need organization!

Thank you all for the welcome! I really look forward to taking this journey with y'all!

Holly- Glad you had the perfect day! Sometimes the simplest things are the best you could ever ask for! ;)

Hope y'all are having a great Sunday!

MyChoice2bfit 11-13-2005 02:42 PM

Confession: I've been on a sugar binge since Friday nite! Why am I allowing myself to do this. Because I'm STRESS eating. I've not heard anything about the job interview I went on, BUT my current employer, out of the blue, came and offered me an Inside Sales position. The girl who is in that position now is leaving because she wants to be a stay-at-home mom. The job includes some light traveling and also a lot of relationship building with the Distributor...I love this sort of thing, and I like my current employer...great company, but I didn't like doing claims. I'm going to accept it; I will get out of claimes this way and it's something I will like, but what if that other job calls? and I think they will...I don't like to many choices....

I tried to start off today with no sweets, but I've had 2 cupcakes and icecream, I know I have to stop..that's why I'm here. I'm going to go back and read some more old posts..get my mind straight...would love feedback...

Welcome to the new people.

Debbie 11-13-2005 03:21 PM

Hi guys,
I know when you read this I will be able to hear ya'll laugh all the way here.
I've been wearing a size 44DD(or as my guys say 44DA-DAMN) bra. but I wasn't getting much support from them so I thought I've lost some weight so maybe a smaller size would help.
Well, it did! My new size is a 42D...

Glad everyone is having great w-end.

Susie: :cp: Tell that sugar beast to take a hike. You are in control.

Jenn: GOOD JOB!!! saying "no" to snacks. It's might seem like a small thing but it's not. You pat yourself on the back, because these small thing will take the weight off and keep it off...YOU GO GIRL.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

Holly: :) (((HUG)))

LegallyBrunette 11-13-2005 04:15 PM

Hello everyone!

I used to follow this thread closely, but for the last 2 months I've been so horrible on my "diet" and gained back all 13 pounds I had lost :( At least I didn't gain any more than that back...

So starting right now, I am back on track! I am currently 238, and my goal is to get below 200 by mid march! (Totally do-able if I'm good I think!)

My husband started at 260 3 months ago and is now 220...I know men lose weight faster than women, but still...I don't like him being skinnier than me!

Debbie 11-13-2005 05:33 PM

Hi legally brunette,
WELCOME BACK! I do remember you. Glad to have you back. Just get back on track, you can do this. We all just keep struggling on but we will all make it to onederland.
I told the others about a sign I saw the other day that pretty much says it all.
"FAILURE...Is not falling down..It's not getting up. Your up girl.
NOW LET'S GO! :dancer:

Hollyhock 11-13-2005 05:47 PM

Deb~ LOL!! My friend just had a breast reduction and brought a BIG bag of 42DD's to me at church. Of course people asked, "what's in the bag?" LOL!!!

LegallyBrunette 11-13-2005 06:39 PM

Deb, thanks for the welcome back :) 53 pounds lost! What an accomplishment! We have a similar loss goal by Christmas! Let's see if we can do this :)

Holly, That's HILARIOUS!! People are so nosey sometimes!

JEO1982 11-13-2005 07:52 PM

Susie-If you really think you will like the new position, and you already know you like the company, accept the job an ddon't stress! You should be CONGRATULATING yourself! :carrot: And don't beat yourself up over the sweets either, we all have days that go off track... Now that you have acknowledge it, just remember that tomorrow is a new day and a fresh start! Tell yourself you will have a better day, then believe it and it will happen!!! :goodvibes

Debbie- That is funny! My DH was reading over my shoulder and I didn't realize until he chuckled! BTW, thank you for the encouragement!

LegallyBrunette- If you think you can do it, you will! I think that it is a pretty good, realistic goal even (about 2# a week) :goodluck: ... I too know how it feels to have DH be smaller than you, even when I was at 170#, my DH weighed less than me and he is 2.5" taller! Darn him and his "skinny" genes! :lol3:

Debbie- What a gift to get at church! I think I might have told the Nosey-Roseys what it was just for their reactions!

Today was pretty uneventful, but I did succeed in getting shelving and organizing my closet, so I am satsfied! Obviously it doesn't take much to make me happy! I hope y'all are having a great evening!

Debbie~ WOWSERS> 53!! Really!!!! I didn't even notice!!!! Fabulous. You are doing so well. Yahoo!!
JEO~ I am obsessed with organizing. I love shelves, basket, tubs......... I lose steam wioht dieting quickly too. Keep it exciting.Plan your food. Try new things.

Susie~ you asked before about mindful eating. Plannig help. not having junk to graze on.I try to ask, dont always succeed, is the food I want to eat for my highest good, what am i eating to fill up?
I ahve done better woth not eating to relax at night. I love making myslef decadent(savoury) snacks. A little would be okay but I dont quit.

Annie~ glad your Dad is doing okay! How are you?

LB~nice to see you here. Sorry about the gain...arg!

Debbie 11-13-2005 09:35 PM

Holly: The 53lbs is from my highest weight of 300lbs on 1/4/04. When we quit driving the truck. I didn't have much sucess until I started curves. Then when I started doing WW. The scale started moving again. It's been very slow. But I hope it stays off this time.

I just got back from a short but brisk walk. only about a 1/2 mile. But it's better than nothing.

Everyone have a great evening :grouphug:

LegallyBrunette 11-13-2005 11:10 PM

Jenn, Organizing your closet is a HUGE accomplishment! Be proud of that!!!

Debbie, 53 pounds is 53 pounds! And you've kept moving in the right direction, no matter the speed! I hope in 2 years I can say the same... I am curious, you drove a truck? As in 18-Wheeler?

My day has been wonderful :^: Sure... food-wise I wasn't the greatest, not bad...but not good! (Pizza for lunch with hubby!) But I did walk for an hour at 2.9 mph on the treadmill! So I got some exercise done....

I don't understand how my hubby can eat and eat and eat (Pizza and steak and ANYTHING) and then walk an hour on the treadmill and still lose weight!! GrRrR! Why is it that men are so much quicker at losing than women??

JEO1982 11-13-2005 11:16 PM

Legally- I think it is to give us another reason to hate them

LegallyBrunette 11-13-2005 11:23 PM

Jenn, How true that is!! (Or so it's feeling right now!!!)

annie175 11-14-2005 08:17 AM

Morning Ladies....

Welcome to all the newbies.......Great place, wouldn't want to live without knowing I could come here for support.

Welcome back Legally B. We missed you.

Dad is doing great, still grouchy, but has always been on the negative grouchy side. hehe

I am feeling much better, have a sinus headache now. pound, pound, pound at each peck of the keyboard. yikes....

Went to a 7 hour CPR/First Aid training class on Saturday. I am now certified (a certified nut). Work paid for it as I am on the Office Safety Team.

Susie. I have been on a free for all for about 3 weeks now. Wasting time with this weight goal thing. Very dissappointed with myself. I AM STARTING A NEW DAY TODAY! Cannot go to WW for a while, had to make a college payment for DD, pretty much wiped me out for a bit. Really tightening up the $$ now. I do plan on trying this on my own. Still will go to Curves. Plan on going M,W&Th, at lunch with buddy from here at work. I need a boost in the bum. At least no gains so far, however struggling to stay the same. THIS IS MY DAY, I CAN DO THIS, I WILL DO THIS. WE CAN DO THIS, WE WILL DO THIS.

Holly - your weekend sounded wonderful. I love working outside.

Debbie - I agree with falling off the wagon, then getting right back on. Today is a new day.

Best get busy, have a terrific day all.

(((HUGS)))

Annie

JEO1982 11-14-2005 08:50 AM

Annie - I feel your pain (the sinus pain that is)... I can barley use my nose at all! Thanks for the welcome, I know how great this site is because I came here daily when I was losing weight before.

And you are right, WE WILL DO THIS! As for me I saw my first drop on the scale this morning down a pound! I'm totally pumped for the gym this morning now!

MyChoice2bfit 11-14-2005 09:11 AM

Hello,
I was able to get through yesterday with no more sugar. I threw the cupcakes in the trash. It helped to do that.

I've been drinking a ton of water to get that sugar out of there!

I'm going to be out of town at a conference on Tueday and Wednesday. I'll try to post on Wednesday when I get home. If not, I'll talk to you all on Thursday.

I'm going to take my food journal and feeling journal with me and use the time that I will have in the evenings to write more in them, and to read my magazines and catch up on things like that.

I will have to be careful with the food but the good thing is that I'll only have access to what they have for us and that's it.

I know I can stay on plan and I'm planning to succeed.

Looking forward to seeing you all when I get back.

Debbie: I'm a 42 D too! I like being a chesty gal, but not to big...how nice of your friend to bring you some new bras....I went out and bought a red one when I got to this size. I've been staying right at 42 D (I have myself measured about every 10 lbs lost), so I guess they are all mine.

Susie

Good morning everyone,
I just got back from curves. I had a great workout. I Feel great today.
B-yogurt, applesauce

LB: DH has drove a truck all our marriage. We always said when our kids were grown I'd go with him. My youngest turned 18 and graduated all in may 1997. I couldn't just sit there and do nothing so learned to drive. 6 1/2 years and 100 lbs later, we decided it was about to kill us. DH bp was uncontrollable. It would shot way up. Since we quit he's lost 40lbs and is now in a very lowdose bp meds.

Susie: :carrot: Good job throwing out the cupcakes. I hope You enjoy you conference. Taking your journal will really help you stay op. Remember to pack your walking shoes. Maybe there someplace nice to walk close.

Jenn: CONGRATS!! :cp: 1 pound gone forever.

Annie: It's a wonderful day to start fresh. If you have anyone with the WW info copy it and do it at home yourself. I choose to do it online because its
$16.90 mo I think of it as 4.25 a wk and I would spend that on something anyway. It's great your going to get to keep going to curves.

annie175 11-14-2005 11:23 AM

Hidee Ho.

Debbie - I have all the stuff for WW. I had been going up till a couple of weeks ago. SO I am good to go, with NO excuses!

I, too am a 42D. He have some ladies with good size chubs in this group. hahahah

Annie

LegallyBrunette 11-14-2005 01:24 PM

Debbie, How neat!! My husband just started driving... and it's actually been the best thing for him *lol* He's lost 40 pounds since starting!! Although I think a good chunk of it is that he new that just sitting in a truck all day he'd gain a TON of weight if he ate like he was eating...so he keeps his mini fridge stocked with veggies, drinks nothing but water and tries to walk daily!

Hollyhock 11-15-2005 07:59 AM

Just woke up and I need a nap.

It was a good day and volunteering in DD’s class was dreamy.Hockey was okay. I ended up with a splitting headache after. I think from the weather system that is here today. DH was home and making himself a sandwich for his supper. He didn’t remember where we were. I asked him to do sandwiches for everyone and he gladly did(exciting). Grilled cheese and tomato soup. I cut up some orange pepper. DD kept asking, why is Daddy making supper. She was quite worried about it. I dont think they have ever seen this phenomenon before.
Food and water was good. The missing part is obviously extra exercise. I honestly dont know where to fit it in.
I am tired today. There is lots to do. A quiet day with daycare for a Tuesday but a crazy busy evening. DS has hockey pictures at 5 and then then we are going to the literacy program at the school at 6:30. I will pack a picnic supper for in the van whilst travelling between.
Since it is a rainy day I might just putter at cleaning and put away fall decoratons and put out some Christmas ones for this Sunday. I want it to be nice and festive and I am not really getting the time. I need Martha’s team to delegate to!!!
I need to decide on side dishes for the turkey dinner. Any ideas?? These are simple folk. One year I made homemade creamed corn and they were horrified. LOL!
Needing a hug today chicks and a blast of energy.
