Good job Angie! See, I told you that you would get your groove back.

I got to workout yesterday but not with Joe. He came in to early for me to workout with him. I just did 45 mins on my own. I am still struggling with the same 5 lbs that I have been fighting the past few weeks. I am not really certain what is going on.

Donna I am 29 (strating to freak out about the big 3-0). I don't have kids but since we are counting hubby's I guess I have one. I have 2 lab dogs, 2 mutt cats and tropical fish. I am in school right now for electrolysis and I am soooo ready to be done so I can get out of this **** hole I call work.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that my MIL bought the kids 2 big bags of peanut M&M's yesterday for the kids and I am proud to say I resisted them. It is easy when I think of 3 kids grubby little fingers grabbing them out of the bag. Hey whatever works!! haha

Good job Kempy!! I am going to have to suck it up and do the treadmill tonight I guess(unless some of the snow melts this afternoon) It is actually nice outside today. I weighed in today just to see where I was. I weighed 168!!! Holy cow it definately comes on quick when I dont exercise for a while. So I guess my goal for the month is to try and see 150's again.

Good Afternoon Girls

I excercised this morning. It actually felt good even though I hate to sweat. Right now I am thinking about what to have for lunch. I am kind of sick and tired if I should go low fat and cut calories or just watch carbs. I really don't even know what to eat anymore because it gets frusterating counting carbs, cals and fat. My Grandma was as healthy as a horse when she died. Except for the cigarettes I think she would have lived until 110. She excercised, daily walks, and ate everything in moderation. If she wanted pie and coffee for lunch that is what she had. And didn't think twice about it. I always think it was her positive attitude about everything. I wish I had her spunk!

Good job Holly and Angie staying out of the junk! I know it is soooo hard. The old saying you can never just have one is true for me.

Hi Kempy how is work going? Great job on the 45 minutes!

Hello to everyone else. Noelle, Cal, Jacks, Donna and anyone I forgot.

Default Happy Hump Day!!!

Good morning ladies. I'm starting off my day with a possible computer virus on my work computer so I've had to back up all of my files, then I'm having a computer-whiz friend come by this afternoon to doctor this thing up. He says I may have a "funky trojan" ...sounds like bad news no matter how you look at it . But first! I'm going to pamper myself with my manicure and pedicure this morning .

It sounds like everyone's starting February off with a bang!

Angie, keep the good vibes coming~~ they're catching! Gosh, I'd love to see the 160's myself this month, we can do this!

Kempy, I tell you those 5 lbs will fall away, just keep working it.

Holly, what type of work will you be going back to? I'm sure it'll be exciting and will make it easy to stay OP during the day. I hate staying home where I'm near the kitchen, if you know what I mean.

Cal, so glad you're feeling better. Hope the kids are listening to ya today.

Julie, what's happening with you today?

Donna, I'm a 32 y.o. mother of a 5 y.o. boy, and 33 y.o. husband . 2 dogs, an assortment of fish, 5 cats, 2 rabbits...I live in beautiful sunny Hawaii and am fortunate enough to walk outside almost 365 days a year if I'm so inclined. My husband and I own a small plumbing company and I push papers around all day and answer phones, pay and collect bills, yadda yadda yadda. These girls have been an awesome support system for real LIFE issues, not just weight loss. I wouldn't still be trying to lose if I didn't have these girls. Thanks ladies!

Everyone else, have a wonderful day. BBL.

Julie I think that eating everything in moderation is the best thing. I have tried them all and of course no luck. I did the moderation thing last year and I lost about 18 lbs. I did record everything at first but it taught me how to look at portions. I am trying to get myself back into that. I do ok and then some form of sugar gets me and gets me good. I have a bad sugar addiction and once I start it is hard to stop.

Angie did you ever look into getting some exercise videos? I wonder if that would help jump start things too. Good going on the M&M's. I love those things too. I could probably eat the whole pound size bag by myself.

Noelle do you think you know where you got the virus? WHat did it do to your puter.

Angie,

Great job on avoiding those m&m's! I LOVE the peanutbutter ones, and think I could eat a whole bag .

Julie,

Have you tried the South Beach Diet? I am on day 4 (tomorrow am) of phase I. It is hard having to watch calories, carbs, fat. It seems like it's soooo easy to put on 5 lbs. literally overnight!!

Kempy,

Hmmm, electrolysis, what is that again (sorry if I sound ignorant)? When are you hoping to enter the job market in the new field? When I first started losing weight, it seemed like I kept gaining and losing the same 5 pounds. Eventually, I lost it and then it was the same deal, lost 5 and kept yo-yoing. Actually, that is happening even now, though hopefully I will be on the losing side if I can keep on track with this diet and not give in to my sugar cravings. I know that sugar is my weakness.

Noelle,

WOW! My husband is a Plumber Apprentice for our local union. He's in his 3rd year of a 5 yr apprenticeship, and is working for Cornell University! Neat that our hubby's do the same thing. Only, lucky you, you have the beautiful weather!! I am starting my new job on 2/12 as a Physical Therapy Aide for Cornell University. Funny thing is I have a Paralegal Degree, and this job is way out of that field, lol. I am hoping I like it better though. It drives me crazy to sit behind a desk for 8 hours a day. It's like I can feel my rear end expanding and molding to the chair.

I hope everyone has a good night!

After getting such an encouraging welcome message from Noelle, I thought I'd come over here and say hello. (Thanks Noelle!)

My name is Anna, and I'm 27 years old and living in China right now. I originally hail from Canada, and I'm missing the worst winter in a few years. And I'm *sad* that I'm missing the worst winter in a few years, because I'm too Canadian. *grin*

I teach English as a Second Language, which means I entertain very bored children twice a month. It's not as satisfying as I had hoped it would be. Frankly, they told me, "Oh, small class sizes, no more than 30 students, and you'll work with an established curriculum!" My smallest class has 52 students in it, and I've been making up my curriculum as I go along. And I see each of these classes every other week. I understand that my Chinese name is "Waste of time". *sigh*

I'm not in this for the loss of weight, but for the idea of regaining my life. I've refused to do so many things, because I was "too fat". I want to be able to run, I want to be able to dance. I want to feel comfortable in my body again, and I believe that losing weight is the only way I'm going to do that.

Back home, I have a lovely boyfriend (who blinked at me in confusion when I said, "God, I'm so fat, I've put on so much weight this year!" "You have? I hadn't noticed. Are you sure?"), and a cat who is very angry at the world and likes to remind us of this on a regular basis. Here, I live alone as the only Westerner within at least a 40 mile radius. I spend a lot of time having very simple conversations. Thank god for the internet, or I would have gone mad by now.

Oh, and I tend to ramble. *blush*

Hi Anna, so glad you popped in! The girls will be happy to "see" a new face on our humble thread tomorrow morning. I realize now that it's almost 4 in the afternoon tomorrow for you from my Hawaii time zone...I'm approaching 10 pm myself so I'm almost ready for bed . My mom just retired from teaching ESL part-time in a local public school here. We have such a broad range of people here that there are always children who need the assistance. I admire your courage of leaving your home, your loved ones and your cat(?) to go abroad and teach. How long have you been away? How long is your term there? What dialect do the people speak where you are living? There are a million questions I'd love to ask you about living there as I'm fascinated by other cultures, but one thing at a time. I like your approach about regaining your life--weight loss is only one aspect. Hopefully all of us here can help you along.

Oh and don't worry about rambling on, I'm pretty famous for the same thing Well, I'd better turn in so I can be bright-eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow (yeah right! ) . Have a good evening!

Default Ummm . . isn't the scale supposed to go DOWN??!!

Hi ladies!

Thanks again for the warm welcome. Finally getting caught up here & feel like I'm getting to know you all a little!

Angie: Wow! 3 kids and all those animals – God bless you!! I have enough on my hands with my dog Jack, a 120# Chesepeake Bay Retriever. Good luck with your goal for February. My goal for this month will be to lose 5 pounds. I am currently at 216.5, and I’d love to get down to 145 (don’t know how realistic that is). I’m fairly tall (5’9”) so I think that would be a healthy weight – what do you think?
I think it’s great that your husband is dieting with you – definitely helps to stay on track! My hubby is a naturally thin guy (doesn’t metabolism suck!!?) who probably weighs 150 soaking wet! LOL The one good thing (good for him, bad for me) is that he’s NOT a junk food junkie (which I am) so I can’t blame bad eating habits on him!
Where are you moving to?

Kempy: It’s great that your hubby will work out with you. Mine has started doing yoga with me. It took me awhile to get him to try it, but now he loves it as much as I do.
Don’t sweat about the big 3-0 –you’re now at the eternal age of 29!! I’m still 29 and I’ll be turning 44 this year! Seriously, I don’t mind this age at all. My hubby’s 35 (yeah, robbed the cradle this time) and keeps me young. I don’t think I’d ever want to live through my teen years again!

Noelle: Ah, Hawaii . . . . I’m sooooooooooo jealous as I look out the window at 8 inches of mushy ice and snow. I went there for my honeymoon a LONG time ago (first marriage) and fell in love with it. You are so lucky. I always say that I love the seasons here on the east coast . . . but I usually say that in the SUMMER when it’s warm or in the FALL when it’s so pretty. Right now Hawaii’s sounding REALLY good.

Cal: Yes, as far as I’m concerned, husbands DO count as a kid – at least mine does! Glad you’re feeling a little better. I struggle with both anxiety and depression and can relate to those “not so good” days. It’s so cool that your hubby’s from Italy and you can visit there. I’d love to go someday. The only country in Europe that I’ve been to is France – my hubby is a perfumer and his company is French-owned, so every once in awhile we get to go for business.

Holly: Congrats on your new home! Where do you live? I hope your health issues are resolved soon and it’s not too serious. Wow – three kids – they must keep you hopping! Are you glad to be going back to work? It sounds like you have a very challenging and rewarding job.

Anna: Welcome – I’m a newbie as well. It must be fascinating living in another country – my niece did the exact same thing you’re doing (teaching English as a second language) only in Japan. But I understand about the loneliness and frustration. But you are really making difference. I love your philosophy on weight loss/lifestyle changes and am right there with you! Do you get to visit back home very often? How long will you be staying in China?

I’m with all of you when it comes to hanging onto clothes from bygone eras! I still have some size 8 jeans (I don’t even think I was BORN a size 8!!). Somehow I can’t throw them out – it would be like giving up on myself. But right now I’d be happy to get out of my 16’s and into my 14’s.

What does everyone do for exercise? I love yoga and try to do at least 20-30 minutes daily. Right now it’s dead winter here in NJ and we have about a foot of snow on the ground, so walking has been hard. On warmer days I’ve been taking advantage of the fact that the lake we live on is frozen, and take my dog out onto the ice for a run, while I walk “around the lake ON the lake”. But it’s been so cold I finally dug out the old treadmill and am trying to get on that at least 3 times a week. But I’m so out of shape I can barely do a mile. Oh well, I guess that’s a start!

Is there any kind of “rule” about weigh-ins? Do we all weigh-in on the same day? Speaking of which, I weighed in today and was UP ½ pounds, but I’m blaming it on my period.

Well, I'd better post this novel and get my butt in gear. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Donna

Good afternoon. I didnt get a chance to get on this morning but here I am. I have been having such a HARD day today with keeping myself on track. Everything sounds so good and not to mention the fact that Jay made 2 extra honey buns this afternoon by mistake(Which I was craving so bad!!!) I quickly threw them in the box so he could take them to his mom's bakery. Then I came inside and ate an apple. Small victories!! Actually I thought of all of you guys and that is why I didnt eat anything bad so far, now lets see if I can continue.

Julie, I wished I could eat like your grandma too. My idea is if it is good and it is in the house I must eat it all and right now!! That is my biggest problem

Noelle, Did you get the computer fixed?

Holly, Good luck with your new job. You must be happy to be going back to work.

Anna, I do the same thing you do. I always say it will be better when I weigh this much, etc. I actually am happier and more confident when I get there though but then I gain a big amount back again and have to start all over again. I look forward to getting to know you.

Donna, We would like to move to Florida and open a bakery front. We live in such a SMALL town now and there just arent enough people around to expand. Not to mention that every town in Maine seems to have bakeries. Must be something about the state.

Hi everyone

Holly yes I did try the SBD, my stomach was a little upset. My problem was I really need fiber and I was not getting enough. I think I lost between 4-6 pounds. Good luck with it though. It really seems like that diet is taking off.

Welcome new ladies!

I feel kind of out of it today. Maybe I did not get enought sleep last night. I think I could go to bed right now and not get up until tomorrow morning. Better get some caffeine in me! Lots to do.

Have a good day at school Kempy and we hope to hear from you before Monday !

Angie the apple was a better choice, great job. I love doughnuts! You got your willpower in full swing today! Keep it up you can do it.

Hey guys. I am trying to make myself check in everyday so that I can be accoutnable plus I like to chat with you. School was pretty good today but I ddin't sleep very well last night. We had a bad storm come through and i get nervous with big wind gusts. We have pine trees that like to fall around here. Actually our neighbors house had one fall right on the garage. Iheard it fall too. I just couldn't see it when I went to goo look for it. It happened pretty early in the night so no light was out.

Angie I am amazed that you were able to turn that down. I still have a whoopie pie in the freezer and I hear it call me everytime I open the door.

Donna I like to either get on the treadmill or eliptical and just go. I do like weights but I don't really like doing them by myself.

Noelle what's up with the puter today?

Holly electrolysis is permanant hair removal. I will be done with my state boards in Oct. so I am really looking forward to the end of the year.

Anna why is it that your hubby and cat aren't with you in China?

Hey girls, my computer is now virus free . The virus scan found 21 infected and/or possibly unwanted programs which were either cleaned or quarrantined, so I'm pretty happy about that. The dumb thing is is that the main problem I was having was with website links not working--come to find out, that was caused by a toolbar I installed which had a pop-up blocker--it was just one keystroke to turn it off then everything was working normally again. I've been running around so much today that I actually only sat down at my desk at 2pm, then my friend came over and tinkered with my 'puter so I didn't really sit at my desk for long. He left 2 hours later, so here I am and it's almost quitting time. I missed you guys.

Angie, you are awesome for resisting those sweets! That would just set me off if I ate one. Good girl! I'm eating an apple right now too .

Donna, I'm the ring-leader at the moment as far as weigh-ins. Right now I post my WI's on Saturday's since I go to WW first thing in the morning. If you want, you can join me in posting your weight on Saturdays, purely optional of course. (You could also put your stats in your signature line). Yeah I always marvel at how lucky am that I get to live in this beautiful state.

Shoot, I gotta run it's past 5 and my sis will leave without me (walking) if I don't get home soon...Hello to everyone else, I'll try to check back in this evening.

Hi. I have made it 4 days in a row OP!! Now comes the big challenge...THE WEEKEND!!!!! I can do this. I have it all planned out.

Kempy, How long does electrolysis take to do one whole leg? I would love to never have to shave my legs again. What a pain in the butt.

Noelle, I have to scan my computer right off too. It takes so long to do and I like to just pop in and out alot. Did you get your walk in last night?

Well, I am off. Have a great day!!
