Hi Girls + Glen,

Walked another 2mls yesterday :cp: have a bit to go to catch up to Susanne  but i was there once and i will be again :) I'm useless at drinking water Susanne and always seem to make a cuppa instead

Deborah, i started off well too and then i went downtown and could'nt resist going into the British Sweet Shop and buying a bar of Cadburys Turkish Delight :T that stuff is so good :D It was'nt that that was really bad it was the 2 slices of Pizza last night that put me over  Oh Well, like you said "today is another day"

Trixi 03-09-2004 09:23 PM

I feel like a big huge butterball today!!!! I just feel soooo bloated, think I am retaining water..oh well.

I am still going strong on the exercise and eating so I happy about that.

Cat90 I only do 2 miles as well but it feels like a million sometimes we gotta start small are we will hurt ourselves right?

Hi Zanne....Someone brought in homebread at work and heated it in to toaster oven. I swear I drooled! I have never wanted a slice of pizza more than I did tonight...but stuck to my salmon. Feeling kind of blah tonight so I will talk to you all tomorrow hopefully when I am not so bloated.

Dale

Zanne 03-09-2004 10:23 PM

I am feeling "blah" today. had to push myself to get on the elliptical. I didn't break any speed records, but at least I did my half hour. I have to keep working at it--I have to go 13.1 miles in less than 10 weeks.

TRIXI--I hear ya on the "butterball" thing. I feel so gross and bloated myself. I think I had too much "white" stuff today. I think I've been pushing it since I can see I've lost some inches. At least the bloatedness is a good reminder to stay on plan!

YEAH CAT for doing 2 miles! Just keep working at it!

Grapefruit time!

Deborah17 03-10-2004 12:28 AM

I know all about bloat...lol
I bloat if I eat carbs...I can usually minimize it by drinking lots of water
Cat90...if you have trouble with drinking water try this I used it until I didn't need to any more... I put 8 elastics around my wrist and when they were all around my drinking glass then I could stop drinking...

I was great all day and then my mother took me out for supper....it tasted great but I know there was too much carbs and nor enough veg...

aahhh well...tomorrow is another day with the potential for greatness

Deborah

cat90 03-10-2004 02:21 PM

Hi Girls and Glen ;)

Walked 3mls yesterday and today :cp: don't know what the heck is up with my foot tho' :( its not treadmill related it just started hurting down the side a few days ago while i was at the mall :( feels like a strain but i don't know why :?: overuse??

Deborah, i don't really have trouble drinking water its just that i choose not to  i know i should grab a glass of water but i'll make a cuppa instead  I'll grab a pint now while i think about it and put a splash of light cranberry juice in it :T that'll make it go down faster ;)

hefty1 03-10-2004 03:01 PM

 debrah where do you live in manitoba? i lived in winnepeg. it's nice to see another stubble jumper on the boards.
zanne it is nice to be missed by ladies.

Dale

cat90 03-10-2004 10:13 PM

Never mind Dale  you'll do better tomorrow ;) I managed to drink my water today with the help of that cranberry juice ;) had enough tho' 3.5pts so pretty good. I've eaten a little more than i planned mainly due to the fact that i stayed home all day  idle hands and all that  i'm at about 1750cals right now and i don't want to have anything else and i mean another Bud!!

Deborah17 03-11-2004 01:17 AM

Hi all,

Glen, I am in Winnipeg, Fort Richmond.

Way to go Cat90, anything to get the water in I say... I used a lemon slice in my glass for a while...now I down a pint at atime and don't even notice...... the only time do is when I am out and don't get enough...I feel positively sliggish the next day.

I did so good today, a little of everything, except my salad which was huge and healthy full of organic baby greens and a home made raspberry vinegrette, that I heated in the mic wilted them so nicely...lol

then I had dinner with my bookkeeper.... mman...these people taking me out and feeding me...and all my favourites too lol

We are now in the middle of a freakish storm...the highways are closed... and near white out conditions...aahh spring on the prairies...windchills on -35 by morning! uh

so it looks like tomorrow will be me and the kids stuck in the house all day, oh joy at least there is no inservices (I operate a day care and hate thecabin fever thing that happens when we have to change routines fo rthe little kids...ok I hate the change in my routine too) lol

Trixi 03-11-2004 09:39 AM

Good morning all!!!! Just a quick note as I am at work right now and I was late coming in. I feel much better today. I am officially down 18 pounds and my pants are loose today. I love that.

I bought the Atkins brand of pancakes and syrup and made it this morning. I am stuffed and they taste just the same. New breakfast for me!!!!!

Hope everyone has a great OP day.

Dale

cat90 03-11-2004 02:22 PM

Hi Everyone

Dale :bravo: thats super :cp: don't you find that Low Carb stuff in general is expensive? I walked past the freezer section in Fairways the other day, can't remember what it was now but i remember thinking "Wow, $8 for that!" its the same with bread..its about $4 a loaf :dizzy:

I walked another 3mls this morning that makes a total of 13mls since Sunday :strong:

Deborah, i use lemon sometimes too and lime is good as well :T i just thought the cranberry juice would be a change. Gosh, i would hate that weather :( no wonder you are sick of it  i think spring is well on the way here, the tree frogs have been in noisy form these last few nights..noisy  's

cat90 03-12-2004 04:04 PM

Hi Everyone :?:

I walked another 3mls this morning :cp: and i weighed in with a 4lbs loss this week :D it feels so good when the hard work pays off :)

Hope you are all doing OK will check in later

hefty1 03-13-2004 06:56 AM

 it's :coffe: time wtg cathy. i do the scale today.
:) glen

Trixi 03-13-2004 11:02 AM

Great Job Cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a pretty bad night last night and feel the effects of my over indulgence. Going to go lay down and try to get over this queasiness!! hope everyone has a great day!

Zanne 03-13-2004 11:56 AM

Just quickly popping in.

Good news--I measured today and since March 2nd I have lost an inch and a half from my waist and an inch from my jelly belly!!!! I'm actually wearing (and sitting in) a pair of jeans I couldn't wear a week ago.

So if the scale seems to be not moving, take your measurements! The scale hasn't really budged for me in a long time. I keep going up and down a couple pounds. Nothing significant, but the inches lost are really significant.

gotta go--lots of stuff to do today.

cat90 03-13-2004 05:28 PM

Hi Everyone

How did you make out Glen? ;)

Susan, that is great and i totally agree  i know another lady who is quite upset about her scale not moving and yet she is losing inches so i told her not to bother about the scale because after all its all about getting into a smaller dress size not how many pounds you weigh :D

Trixi, :yikes: hope you're feeling better now

hefty1 03-13-2004 06:44 PM

 i gained 1.3.
trixi: hope you are feeling better. did the devil come to your house last night?
suzzane: when you first start exerciseing your body puts water around the muscles you
haven't used for awhile. then after they have been used for awhile the water goes away.
this is to protect them.

northernclipper 03-13-2004 07:10 PM

Hello everyone

I glad to hear everyone is fine and that we have some new faces on site. I've been to Las Vegas and back this week, I lost at the slots and I lost 2 lbs. Dh got the tickets for a reward for me staying on track and when we got in Thur. nite he gave me tickets to a Tom Jones concert for Fri. I had a great time but need some rest. Dh and son #3 have left for a hockey tournament in Barry and the other children are either working or at sleep-overs. So I'm home alone and loving it. I hope everyone stayed op.

I have to get back to drinking my water I kind of got addicted to wine and spitz's while away. I also have to get back on the treadmill . Will check in tomorrow hope all is well with everyone. :)

Deborah17 03-14-2004 10:14 AM

Hi All,

Happy weekend! I did good until last night when a pig out happened as I was working on an article about cheese in a low carb diet.... maybe it was writing about all that food lol

So now I have to pump up the exercise a bit and eat very lightly today, I think

It is so hard, when the scale is stubborn and the inches aren't moving too quickly either. But I am doing my best.

Maybe I should stop writing about food! no, I enjoy that too much...

So I am getting back to checking portion sizes and having to say no to all the people who are asking me out for big dinners...actually, I have to say no to myself to eating allthe food on my restaurant plate..doggie bags are good, only if it isn't all carbs...I didn't realize how much of the meal is carbs compared to the amount of vegetables!

well...it is eggplant lasagna, for research... and Thai shrimp soup for dinner.

well the article is almost done and the gym is calling me.

have a great day all!

cat90 03-14-2004 04:17 PM

Never mind Glen  you'll lose it :)

NC, what a nice treat from hubby :cp: glad you enjoyed it :D

Deborah, i know what you mean  if i look at recipes for too long i end up looking for something to eat  not because i'm hungry just because it looked good!

I've been spring cleaning this morning :cp: pity is does'nt stay that way is'nt it? and i'm going out to stack some firewood in a min so i may give the treadmill a miss  we'll see. Just working on drinking some water at the minute, my second pint is in front of me :T don't think i'll be having much more tho'.

Trixi 03-15-2004 12:41 PM

Good day...just posting to keep the thread from disappearing....more post more tonight.

Dale

northernclipper 03-15-2004 03:22 PM

Hello everyone

I started a low carb diet today that seem to work well with ww a friend show me how it helped her lose 7lbs in 2 weeks. I'll cross my fingers and hope for 2 to 5 lbs.

Cat bravo on the loss. :D :D I'ts nice to hear a site motivator and all around nice person get her just rewards(4lb loss) keep up the great work.

Susanne 1 1/2 inches gets you into a smaller size faster than a 1 1/2 lb loss. So lose the scales and keep the tape measure close. Stay op because your doing great.

Zanne 03-15-2004 03:43 PM

Hey Everyone!

Just a quickie post.

I did 5 miles of walking yesterday. Completed them in one hour! :D

Didn't do too well on Saturday at our party. I had 2 cans of pop (I can't remember when I last had just one can) and had some of the wonderful food. Sunday was another party, but I kept to drinking water and coffee. I had 3 slices of pizza, but I also had a big plate of salad. Didn't have any dinner tho (party was over lunch time).

Today I tried on jeans that didn't fit me even yesterday. Today they fit! AND I've been wearing them around all day! :cb: Will wonders never cease!

OT--I'm a really proud mama today. Today my son (age 6) was sworn in as a Canadian citizen (we adopted him from Guatemala). He was so proud. We were actually very lucky because since he is under 16, they usually just mail out the certificate. BUT our file had been randomly chosen for an audit. The lady doing the audit arranged for us to meet special with the judge who swore in my son and then we were taken to the "ceremony room" where we could take pictures with the judge by the flag. I just thought it was very nice for this lady to go out of her way to do that for us. Plus she was just SOOO nice! we were given bookmarks, flags and pins. A very nice experience.

GLEN--Keep working hard and you'll lose that pesky pound and a bit. I've never read that about the muscles and water. I've been exercising for a while now but the scale still stays the same. Wonder why I haven't lost weight from the water going away:?:

Ok, better go. I've got so much to do this week. My head is spinning just thinking about it!!:twirly:

cat90 03-15-2004 04:16 PM

Hi Everyone

Thanks NC ;) what a nice thing to say :o Good Luck with the new diet :goodluck:

Susanne, WTG a 12 minute mile :cp: :yikes: i dare'nt even attempt to jog at the moment my foot is hurting so much i'm practically limping around the house  i seem to be getting one injury after another at the moment :( what a lovely story about your son  how exciting for him.

Zanne 03-15-2004 04:51 PM

CAT--I wasn't jogging- I was only walking! Maybe it's the shoes you are wearing or aren't wearing that are making your foot hurt. I was limping around too a couple of weeks ago. I had foot and calf muscle pain. I must have been compensating for those pains and ended up with hip pain as well. I went to the Running Room and had a person help me choose shoes. OH MY GOSH! almost instantly after putting on the shoes (I tried on about 10 pair but kept coming back to one particular one) the hip pain went away. The foot and leg muscle pain were gone within the next 2 days. the shoes weren't cheap--$150 plus tax, but I figure my feet and the rest of my body are worth it. Now that I know I really like these shoes, I will probably try to find them cheaper elsewhere. But I feel the service and attention given to me at the Running Room was worth the money.

northernclipper 03-15-2004 08:22 PM

cat take it easy til the foots 100% better, otherwise it takes forever to heal. ;)

Susanne congrats on your son's citizenship it sounds like you had a lovely day. Hope the future holds only the best to all of you. :D

Deborah17 03-16-2004 12:52 AM

Susanne, Congrats on your son's citizenship..I have family that have taken their and it is so heartfilling

Get the best shoes you can. I have had to wear orthodics for about 4 years now, and if I don't wear them for a couple of days, I can barely walk without pain, I pronate and my inner knees, and hips and lower back used to ache all the time.. $240 in orthodics, and custom fitted ugly shoes...$130... and no back pain, no sore knees, you really do need a professional to check it out,
because it is so important to get is done right... I know, I went through two pairs before I found the perfect ones....and make sure you don't use them too long after they breakdown, because the problems come back with a vengence

I am being good..did strength training tonight and 30 minutues of cardio, then I went out for chinese..so there goes all my good intentions lol\\Have a great night all..

MeRoMo 03-16-2004 03:43 PM

Hello everyone!!

I'm here!! I have been sooooo busy the last week or so, but I'm back and ready to go...lost .8 week befor last, but went up .6 last week...its all the processed food I have been eating b/c there was just no time to cook!! I've missed you guy, you're a real help with the whole "dieting" bit...and I appreciate it!

Sorry that my come-back post was so short...still a little busy..but will MAKE time for you guys..

Cheers,

M.

cat90 03-18-2004 03:58 PM

Hi Everyone

Susanne, i did'nt mean that you were jogging i just meant that i can't  gosh that is moving if you can walk at 5MPH :yikes: anything over 4.5mph puts me into a jog

I walked 2mls this morning the first since Saturday and i'm paying for it now :( this is just so annoying because i was enjoying my little routine up until this happening. I don't think its the shoes because my right foot is just fine :dunno: it just seemed to collapse on me while i was walking at the mall :( i think NC is right i'll just have to rest it.

Deborah, "then i went out for chinese" :lol3:  sounds just like something i would do :)

hefty1 03-20-2004 06:24 PM

 has everyone lost all their lbs. and don't need post again? i stayed the same at the scale
:) glen

Zanne 03-21-2004 09:24 AM

GLEN--staying the same is better than a gain!

I haven't weighed in a while, or measured. This has been a BAD week with March Break and parties. I've had way too much junk food and know I'm bloated. Haven't done a lick of exercise either. Today's 6 mile walk is gonna be a killer  And it's real windy here just now too.

Gotta get some coffee and breakfast then off to the track for my walk.

Hope everyone is doing well.

cat90 03-22-2004 02:23 PM

Hi

Glen, I HAVE'NT lost my lbs yet thats for sure  i don't know where everyone is :?:

Susanne, i'm sitting on my duff too  and its very frustrating  i so want to treadmill but i know that i'll suffer if i do  the boredom also leads to overeating too  I really need to get back OP here.

Zanne 03-22-2004 05:01 PM

Hi All!

Well, I still haven't weighed or measured, but got on some jeans that didn't fit a couple of weeks ago, so I guess I'm doing ok :D

My 6 mile walk yesterday was BRUTAL! That blasted wind! It was cold and strong. My back and shoulders ache today from hunching against the wind. My legs are good tho. :smug: My DH who is running, asked me if I wanted to cut it short (he was finished his 6 miles). I was going to, but DH and DS were snug in the car watching me, I just kept on going around and around the track till I finished my whole 6 miles. So I was quite proud of myself for not finishing early! :D

I'm glad that March Break is over and I can get back to my routine. My eating was better today and I'm drinking more water. I feel so much better! Tonight I may get on the elliptical, although it's supposed to be a rest day after my long walk yesterday.

CAT--c'mon! We can do this. Can you do any crunches or anything else--a bit of weights and if you don't have weights, you can use canned food for weights. I hope rest is all your foot needs. I had pain in only one foot and then I got my *magic* shoes and now I'm walking on sunshine! :dancer: :flow2:

Deborah17 03-23-2004 12:29 AM

well I certainly haven't lost either! I can't seem to get under 230...

I do so good during the day, but then I eat after the gym..... not good...and carbs too lol surprise surprise...I am a carb craver after all lol

But, I am determined and will just have to push through...

Did abs, triceps, upper back and legs at the gym before my 30 mins of cardio. I am determined that something will give and I know I can do it... as long as it isn't me giving out lol

have a great one...tomorrow is the opportunity to make a positive impact

cat90 03-23-2004 09:19 PM

Susanne, what a trooper :cp: you too Deborah :bravo: you are both putting me to shame :o you're right Susanne i could find something else to do :dunno: i have a weight bench and an exercise bike but i never took to them like i did my treadmill :chin: wonder if it was the $2000 price tag that makes me love it so much :lol3: i have done a lot of work around the house today..removing old tiles with a hammer and chisel :stress: so i'm sure i burned off some cals :) tomorrow i'll make sure i do my stability ball workout or something ;)

Trixi 03-23-2004 10:07 PM

I am still here and hope you all are doing great....I will post when tomorrow for sure so I can catch up with all of you.

Dale

Trixi 03-24-2004 09:15 AM

Well I am officially down 20 pounds since I start this journey on January 14, 2004 (with a few weeks (mostly all of February  off in between) I have been pretty much been OP since I began the Father's day challenge on Feb 29/04. I have worked out by using the 3 mile WATP and have been eating pretty good and I am on day three of no alcohal (was drinking the low carb beer) and going for a full two weeks. I read everyone posts and you all are doing such a great job.

The weather is finally looking up and I am feeling springy. I hope everyone has a great day!!!!1

Dale

cat90 03-24-2004 01:35 PM

Wow Dale thats fantastic :cp: 20lbs in just a couple of months  Well Done!

I got up really early this morning and have been online all morning  now my tummy is about to start rumbling so i'm gonna grab some brekky before a binge ensues  I'm determined to get some form of exercise today so i'll be back later to let you know.

cat90 03-25-2004 12:09 PM

Hey, where are you :?:

I did do my exercise and i did have a good day :cp: only got around to exercising at 6pm tho' :( will get it done this morning today :) not planned any meals yet so that will be my next step. Hope you are all doing well

Trixi 03-27-2004 09:58 PM

Hey Cat...been MIA....had a pretty rough week and let it all go crazy on Friday....Back on track tomorrow. You are doinf great with the exercise and keep it up.

Today was pretty much me cleaning as slow as possible not to hurt the headache that the wine last night gave me!!! Going to go lay on the couch and relax now...have a great night.

Dale
