Hi Ladies and Glen,
I hope you don't mind if I join your thread, I just need another one to go to when I'm in need of distraction from my cravings. I'm from Alberta and enjoying the fact that the sunlight is longer everyday. I'm in WW and find sticking to it hard. My problem is that I really enjoy eating :o Well, it's really late and I should go, but I hope you all do have a wonderful day tomorrow.

MeRoMo 02-17-2004 08:27 AM

Hi Diana, Welcome!

I'm in WW too, and I too enjoy eating! But I've been able to "cheat" so to say. I've found food that is good for you and tastes good too! It was really hard for me to stick to it at first, but after a while (and thanks to all of the yummy WW recipes just floating around on the net) its become easier. Not that I'm good ALL the time b/c this weekend was a total bust! But for the most part its not too too bad.

Where is everyone else? Did I miss something while I was gone...did you all leave? :(

Cheers,

M.

Trixi 02-17-2004 09:27 AM

Im Here but still feeling pretty bad. I barely made it to work these past two days and I am going to close my office door and not anyone bug me..(really cranky). Things are so busy and this cold is killing me!

Cat I have put off the exercise considering getting out of bed is a feat right now. I hope your knees feels better.

Welocome DewCan and northernclipper, nice to see some new faces!!!!

I hope you all have a great Tuesday and will post again tomorrow and hopefully in a brighter mood. I am looking forward to spring.

Trixi

MeRoMo 02-17-2004 10:37 AM

I hope by the time you see this Trixi, that you will be feeling somewhat better!

M.

Trixi 02-17-2004 07:29 PM

Thanks MeRoMo,

Feeling alittle better than this morning but really pooped. Don't have the energy to cook dinner and my daughter has a friend over so I am going to order pizza. The good thing though is I am still not hungry so I doubt I will have any. Maybe make myself some soup later. Have a great night all.

Trixi

cat90 02-17-2004 09:10 PM

Hi Girls and Glen ;)

Hi Diana  so you've found your way over here too? :D

Hi Northernclipper

I'm off to England tomorrow so i'll be missing for a couple of weeks  take care and i'll 'see' you when i get back

DewCan 02-18-2004 01:09 AM

Thanks for the welcome.

Yes, Cathy, I found my way here too. Have a great trip! The name was what attracted me. I know I can find some other people here who think our country is a political mess  Sorry, I can just hear the news on the TV now and it makes me want to get sick :faint:

M. I've been good with my points 2 days in a row now  what a record!

Trixi, hope your mood improves and you have a good day tomorrow, that cold will be gone soon. Yes, spring will be a welcome change :sunny: What kind of soup did you have tonight? I like soup but could never be bothered to make it

Goodnight, Diana

MeRoMo 02-18-2004 07:51 AM

G'Morning all.

So according to the scale at my WW meeting I went up a pound! But on my scale at home I'm down two, and I'm always heavier on the scale at home! How depressing is that! I went into the meeting thinking that I did pretty good :( Maybe I need to get a new scale.

M.

Hockeychic 02-18-2004 02:37 PM

I am still here

Hi everyone... I am still among the living.

How have you all been, I am trying to catch up on the posts.

Well I am doing good, not great in at 177 this morning. I joined PACE last night, kinda like curves. Did my first workout today. How are the exercise challengers doing I am still doing great.

I will catch up on all the posts today....ooppss gotta change my stats ....yaaaa I love doing that only as long as it goes down.....lol

Have a super day everyone

hefty1 02-18-2004 08:27 PM

welcome back hockeychic
cathy are taking a large suitcase with me in in it?
:) glen

Trixi 02-18-2004 08:42 PM

MeRoMo: remember it depends on your time of the month and maybe it just wasn't your day. Could be tomorrow if you went in you could be down a pound or two....just keep at it. I wish I had as much motivation as you. With this cold I can't seem to get anything done. I got sent home today (which if you knew my bosses, never happens!) cause I was in the middle of a meeting and had to leave cause I was choking all the flem, sorry I know thats gross is finally leaving my body and I had to run to my office and have a meeting with my trash can...oops...oh yeah that happened twice. I am feeling better just trying to get all the bad stuff out and it doesn't sound pretty when your trying to convince a client they are in good hands and you almost die in front of them :) anyway...its about eight and I am ready for the couch and then bed.

Hockeychic its great to see you back!!!! hope the work outs go well and your not to sore tomorrow.

DewCan: thanks for the warm thoughts! I too am sooo sick of politics...sponsorship smonshorship! and the news lately is just depressing....If I didnt have breakfast television to cheer me up in between the newcasts I wouldn't even listen (has anyone noticed how funny Kevin Frankish since Anne Romer (sp) left and now that Liza joined?

Glen I hope both you and Cat have a great trip :) in her suitcase.

well I am pooped I gotta go now... nighty night

Trixi

Zanne 02-18-2004 11:25 PM

Hi Gang!

Well, I think it's been a while since I was here. I've gotten really into my program this week. I was re-motivated after seeing my friend on Saturday. She's lost 85lbs and has gone from a size 20 to a size 10! she looks HOT! I am so very proud of her for getting healthy and losing weight. I actually started crying I was so happy for her.

So I figured that if she could lose 5 sizes, then even with my health impedements, I could lose 2 sizes! I'm really getting into the exercising and I'm actually starting to get into the eating part of the program. But even tho I'm not following the eating part perfectly, I AM choosing much healthier things to eat. In fact, I just finished eating 2 grapefruits for a snack! I think now that I've got the exercising down pretty good (I will be moving up to higher weights for some moves :strong: ), I can start to focus more on the eating.

I did my measurements on Friday and I've lost a few inches in the past few weeks. One HUGE surprise was my hip measurement. No matter what I've been doing over the past couple years, the hip measurement NEVER changed. Every other measurement would change, but NOT the hips. Well, on Friday, the tape measure said one inch LESS. I had to measure 3 times to make sure! So I must be doing something right.

DH and I are thinking of entering the Mississauga Marathon (for those of you who don't know--Mississauga is just outside Toronto) to do the Half Marathon. I know I won't be able to jog all of it, but I am a pretty good walker and I think I can finish it in a half decent time. How's THAT for ambitious???

I weighed in at 168 this morning. I'm not sure, but I might have to change my sig line. I'm just happy to be staying in the 160's and not creeping back into the 170's.

TRIXI--I'm sorry to hear you are so sick. You have to take it easy and take care of yourself. Can you stay home for one day and just sleep? Take some nyquil or something to help put you out and just rest!

HEFTY--I think CAT should take lots of lugguge and put ALL of us in it!

CAT--have a good, safe trip!

HOCKEYCHIC--I've never heard of PACE. What did you think of it? Are you sore yet?

MeRoMo--We have to try to NOT let the scale run our life. Scale weight can fluctuate for a number of reasons. I can change the weight on my scale just by standing in a different place on it, or by leaning over more than usual. Are you taking measurements? sometimes that is much better. My weight has been hovering around 168/169 for a few weeks, BUT my hip measurement has decreased by a whole inch! I've lost 1/2-1 inch in other areas too.

DEWCAN and NORTHERN CLIPPER--WELCOME!

Ok, time for a couple of Brit-Coms before bed

Nighty Nite All!

DewCan 02-19-2004 12:00 AM

M. numbers can be such a mystery and such a discouragement. Don't let it get you down though.

Trixi, I hope that gross cold goes away super fast for you

Zanne, the measurement must be such an encouragement, keep it up. That is wonderful for your friend, she must have worked really hard to get results like that. And a marathon, that is really ambitious, keep training and you'll do super ;) And thanks for the welcome :D

Glen, I think we all need a vacation !!!

Goodnight, Diana

MeRoMo 02-19-2004 10:49 AM

Hello everyone!

We woke up to a five foot snow drift and the end of the driveway this morning and I got a call from my boss telling me to stay home!!! :) How exciting is that!!

I'm feeling pretty good today, I tried to get out and shovel but I can't get off my deck!

Fun stuff!

M.

DewCan 02-19-2004 02:30 PM

M. I saw pictures of the storm in the news, impressive. Woohoo, a day off, take it anyway it comes :spin:
I am down half a pound this week. Better than nothing, hopefully next week wil be better :crossed:

MeRoMo 02-19-2004 03:55 PM

February 19, 2004 - Pictures

Ok, so I tried posting pictures of the storm today, but it wouldn't work so I put them onto a webpage the link below is where to go

**See the next link I added, this one just stopped working!**

Day 2

1 Attachment(s)
I took this picture this morning from the front window b/c I still can't get the door open to get outside :( I'm going nuts! I need to get out!!

Zanne 02-20-2004 09:20 AM

Oh My!

MeRoMo--WOW! This is a LOT of snow. The storm you got was the opening story on our news last night. Maybe you can climb out of a window and fall into a snowdrift to get outside  Hmmm, on second thought, you may get lost in the snowdrift.

Hope you're able to get outside soon. Keep warm. At least you still have your internet working to keep you busy.

MeRoMo 02-20-2004 10:56 AM

Ok, so I have NOTHING to do today but frig around on the internet :) I tried going outside (through the window) but its just WAY to hard to walk in snow that is up to your waist! (at least I got in a pretty good workout!) so I made a photo album with the pictures I took last night and today.

http://photos.yahoo.com/mrmcj03

As you can probably guess after looking at the pics from today I got another call this morning telling me to stay home. The highways are still not cleared yet so even if I wanted to I couldn't get to work, and with the way the road is now I'd be suprised if I got in on Monday either (not that I am complaining tho!! :)

It feels like it should be 5:00 by now! I am so bored!!!! I guess I'm going to watch some daytime talkshows now :) Maybe if I can get some snowshoes I can get out for a walk :)

Cheers,

M.

MeRoMo 02-20-2004 01:18 PM

Two hours of shoveling in and we hardly made a dent! This is so depressing :(

Trixi 02-20-2004 03:26 PM

Saw the pictures MeRoMo you look good in white  Instead of shoveling just put a sign in front of your house stating "Snow for Sale" and see if you get any takers...Sorry for making fun. I am still trying to get all the ice off my drive away from two weeks ago. Hope you have a great snowday and tried not to be too bored. You can think of me stuck in my office working away until 6 pm with no relief in sight!

Trixi

MeRoMo 02-20-2004 04:32 PM

So I think today should count for all of my exercise this week :) I did two hours of shoveling and then just had to help push my dads car up a HUGE mountain of a hill. I'm not leaving the house again until its all gone :) I can deal with being bored!!!

M.

DewCan 02-20-2004 04:35 PM

M. I notice a common theme in your pictures  I shouldn't laugh, we'd actually like to have snow like that, just not necessarily all in one day. :D I 'm trying to think of the postives about your situation. 1. you'll lose weight shovelling the snow, and tone :strong: 2. you'll save on heating as this is the best insulation. Your heating bill is probably as outrageous as mine, so yo ucan appreciate this. ;) Your place is starting to resemble an igloo

Trixi, I like your idea. Selling the snow, you just never know....

Diana

Canadian_Red 02-20-2004 04:50 PM

Hello all from Canada! I am new to this forum stuff so bear with me...I live in Calgary....brrrrrr. But not as bad as you guys in Ontario have been getting it. I've been hiding in the background reading all the posts and thought I'd jump in. I used to be over 200 lbs (stopped getting on the scale then) size 16-18, and now am at 140lbs. and a size 6-7. I haven't tried dieting really and am allergic to excersice...it makes me sweat, my heart beats funny-lol- but decided that I want to be at my ultimate healthiest when I hit 40. (37 now). I eat all day long, no exhaggeration. At least 8-10 times a day. But only fruits and veggies during the day and chicken or fish with salad and other veggies. I have only 5-8 more lbs to go and I will have accomplished what I set out to do. It has taken me a couple of years but was on my own doing it. I would love to join the chats and make new friends.

Remember, those who have the willpower will always come out on top! :flow2:

MeRoMo 02-20-2004 05:23 PM

Welcome Canadian Red! :balloons:

So yeah, I think the idea of selling snow is a good one...does anyone have a truck I could borrow to ship it down south! :)

Its not all that bad I guess, we have power and HEAT!! I got up to the store to get some food to last us for the weekend, but it was slim pickings (So what I got probably isn't the best food to be eating...but oh well!)

So I've been ranting all day...and I'm very sorry!! I promise I won't do that anymore (Or until Saturday/Sunday when we get 15-20 more cm!!)

How is everyone else doing? Got any exciting plans for the weekend?

Cheers!!

M.

Canadian_Red 02-20-2004 05:35 PM

Thanks for the Welcome! :grouphug: Weekend! I would love to relax and do nothing but I have two teenagers and housework to do  I think that after reading all of your posts, I may even get on my treadmill.

DewCan 02-20-2004 10:18 PM

Welcome here Canadian Red. Wow, Red, you are superwoman! :spin: Way to go! You must ahve been a dedicated girl! Obviuosly you eat good things as you wouldn't be losing the weight otherwise. How often d oyou use your treadmill, or any other exercise? I use my bike, and I actually don't mind it. I've jsut sort of gotten ussed to it in my routine. Mind my asking how tall you are? My goal is similar to yours, and am just wondering approx what size I'll be wearing, just something ot look forward to for me.
My plans for the weekend are to watch my DH curl, I'll enjoy that. Oha and going out for supper tomorrow with a group of friends. Should be fun.
Bye, Diana

Trixi 02-20-2004 11:29 PM

Welcome Canadian red!!!!!!! you have a great sense of humor!! I think I am too alergic to exercise but got the shot for it...it was called "get off your butt or your butt will smother you befre you can sneeze" shot....if your looking to have a yard sale MeroMo I know some Jamaicans who love to bobsled!!!!!

Hope you all have a great night!!! and MeRoMo If it was me I would have b#$%hed more!!! so don't worry....

Trixi 02-21-2004 11:11 AM

Happy Saturday....going toattempt to get more ice off my drive way....Hope everyone has a great day!

hefty1 02-21-2004 02:14 PM

 i lost 1.4 today.
m: i guess you'll be shovelling this weekend.
it's raining here today
:) glen

DewCan 02-21-2004 04:13 PM

:cb: :cb: :cb: Way to go Glen on the loss. Look, you'll never be in the 270's again! Rain, interesting, is that normal for this time of year? We're above 0 today as well. Nice, hope for spring!
Diana

Trixi 02-21-2004 06:25 PM

Great job Glen!!!!!!! We spent alot of time getting the ice off the drive way in time for another five cm to fall!! At least it was mild today. I can't remember a sunny day. Looking at MeRoMo pics I thought to myself that the sky was gorgeous. Tonight we are just going to relax and watch movies. I am finally start to fell a little normal. Still have pain in one side of my face (I think its the glands but feels like a toothache)

I am hoping for spring like today!

northernclipper 02-21-2004 09:28 PM

Hello everyone

After 2 weeks of staying the same at ww I got a little depressed, then a little angry. While at angry I took it out on my bike and best friend(I made her walk 30 minutes every nite this last week. It's paid off in a lost inch. I have now settled down to my exercise plan of biking, sit-ups, running stairs, tread-mill and exercise videos(I change up every other day) I want to see more loss.

Remomo Sorry to hear you're shut-in, it's something that would drive me nuts too. I walk in the rain( like last nite )or the snow( it makes me move faster) I saw your pictures and I'm glad we had nothing like that here lately(and I 'm hoping not at all this year)

zanne Hearing about your friends' loss is enough to motivate me to work harder. It's great to hear about someones sucess.

canadianred Sorry to take so long to welcome you but WELCOME! ! WELCOME!

glen BRAVO on your loss :D :D I am waiting for a weight loss along with another inch loss. Keep up the good work.

Trixi I hope you're feeling 100% better soon. :^:

MeRoMo 02-22-2004 11:29 AM

Way to go Glen! I'd like to see the same results this week at my WW meeting, but with all the junk food that I ate this weekend I'm thinking its not going to be as good!

And contrats to you too NC, a whole inch! I bet you're excited!!!

Trixi: I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. I hope you continue to get better and better!!

So its raining in Toronto? Any idea how the weather will be there this weekend? We're leaving for the city on Friday...I'm so excited!!! :)

I did walk alot of walking this weekend, can't start my car (I think being under six feet of snow tends to kill a battery...) and I actually don't mind all the hills (I like at the top of a HUGE hill!!!) Its snowing again today, nothing like it was on Thursday and Friday, so I'm thinking I might head out for another walk.

Well, hope everyone is having a happy Sunday!

Cheers,

M.

Trixi 02-23-2004 09:29 AM

Ok so this is it....I have had my fun and gained a ton in the past three weeks. Two because of just me being stupid and last week I had no energy to even try. Today is day one again for me. I am finally feeling 100%. Thanks for all the warm wishes.

I will be a good girl and eat right and exercise and nooooooo drinking. I am really upset with myself and I know if I cheat even a little I wont be able to stop. I promise myself to stay on track and win this battle with myself in order to be a better person. I have been so grumpy that I am sure my fiance is about ready to leave me. I know its depression because I have not been OP butI am the only one that can doing anything about it.

I consider this day one again and will make it to day 365 if it kills me. I will exercise, eat right and drink tons of water. I will not quit.

Thanks for listening. Hope you all have a great week.

MeRoMo It is suppose to be pretty mild here. Its not calling for any snow, or rain and I hope the weather is great for your weekend. You are going to be really close to me, Zanne and Hefty.

Northernclipper keep up the good work and send some motivation my way please?

Trixi.

Trixi

Canadian_Red 02-23-2004 04:45 PM

Happy Monday!

:cb: Well, Happy Monday all! I had a busy weekend....I attempted to be young again and went dancing! :jig: Wow! What a workout keeping up with the 20something-crowd! (I'm 37). Let's see, I'm 5'8" and classified as a large bone structure. I try to make my workouts like non-workouts. I power walk during my 1/2 hour lunch and if the weather is bad, when I get home from work, I pull my treadmill infront of the tube and powerwalk for 1/2 infront of Oprah. When I'm in the car, I tighten my abs and hold them during the red lights. I also squeeze in crunches during commercial breaks if I'm watching the tube. As for motivation, my goal is to turn 40 in better shape then pre-children. I've decided that since I'm getting into shape for the big "40" I may as well, go for the gusto and do the works. I'm getting braces in a couple of weeks. So that should change the diet a little. How about all of you? What are your little tricks?

sunnyday 02-23-2004 06:35 PM

Hello Trixi and all your friends!

I just wanted to drop you a note to say Hello. I talked to Trixi in the chat room Saturday evening. What a hoot. I had a ball. I really laughed out loud. Drank a lot of coffee but Trixi kept me from snacking! Yeah!

Good for you Canadian Red on the braces. I wish I had done that!

Talk to you all later.
Sunny

Trixi 02-23-2004 07:38 PM

Sunny!!!! I am so glad you made it over...I am sure I mean this for all of us...WELCOME!! I too had a blast talking to you and I know you will add something to our group. I am nominating you an honoury Canadian and once everyone gets to know you they will all agree. So keep coming ok?

Hope you all are having a great night. Canadian Red it sounds like you had a great time this weekend and you are doing tons to better yourself...again can you send some my way?

My trick for now is to stop eating the bad stuff and drink more water and get more exercise....starting today! My daughter will be getting braces in a couple of years and man I wish my parents could afford them when I was younger but oh well I guess you shown me its never too late.

Trixi

DewCan 02-24-2004 12:08 AM

Red, that sounds like fun, going out dancing. I haven't done that in such a long time. I also exercise in front of the tube, I have to make it go by faster somehow  To keep from snacking I call someone and chat, or I go online. Too complicated to eat and type! Braces, doesn't sound like too much fun, but I'm sure you'll like the results once it's all over.
Trixi, I'm glad you're feeling better. Still OP?
Well, gotta go, bye, Diana

MeRoMo 02-24-2004 08:07 AM

Hello Everyone!! And Welcome Sunnyday!

So its day two back to work...I think I got spoiled over the last few days sleeping in, getting out of bed this morning was so hard!

Very busy at work today, but I wanted to stop in and say hi to everyone.

Oh yeah...three more days 'till my trip!! :cb:

Cheers,

M.
