Hi All! It's still freezing here and the snow keeps coming down. I'm trying to keep warm. Does shivering burn calories??
I went to Curves this morning and decided I had to face the music about my weight. It turned out that I had only gained 1 lb. over Christmas but had lost another inch of my waist and belly. That's a total of 9 inches gone. I couldn't believe it. I was told that doing weights would increase my metablism but I didn't expect this. PRAISE GOD! This has given me renewed energy to keep going.
Garnet: I'm so sorry for your daughter. Remember that when a door closes a window opens. I hope she finds a new job that she loves.
Michele: I'll keep Les in my prayers. It's hard enough to deal with losing someone without extra stress added to it.
Christian: I'm so glad she's responding to the antibiotics. PTL!!
Gary: Sounds like you're just putting on the miles. Pretty soon you'll be out joining Angie on a regular basis. Way to go! Send some warm air up here okay? I'm freezing up here.
Sami: What a lovely family!! You're quite a knockout yourself. It's nice to put a face to the name. Thanks for sharing them with us.
A big hello to Sunny and Angel and those I've missed.
Have dinner ready and waiting for Angie to get home from yoga. I made burritos for dinner, not that healthy but not that bad either.
Went to the doctors today for my yearly physical-- pretty good news-- he said the results from all the lab work was great, I knew some of the results already. I had a lump in my groin, my daughter and Angie said it was a hernia, I have had it for 4 months (how do you spell DENIAL???) (even saw my doctor for a quick referal for this legal guardianship case for my nephew during this time- didn't mention it) anyway the girls were right, it is a hernia-- my doc wants me to look up a surgeon in the building soon.
I did 5 miles, 46 minutes and 615 calories (?) burned on the elliptical today SUNNYD top that!! Nah, just do the best you can-- just figure if you are going 20 min. now add 1 minute for a week, then another, then another after a week and so on-- by the end of the year you will be "OWNING" that machine. Hope you and Joe have sparkling teeth, and a great day together.
WILMA I am so mad I sent sunshine with FED-EX yesterday, that's it from now on it's UPS Great job GOING back to Curves-- it is a lifestyle change remember, just keep going forward-ALWAYS! even when ya go backwards a little-- NO BIG DEAL!!
GARNET Sorry about your daughter's predicament, all will work out-- is she a christian too? Prayers.
CHRISTIAN Good news on your pops girlfriend.
MICHELE So you are a player huh? That is HOT! We had my step-daughter's 16th birthday last month at Macaroni Grill-- I like it, but to be honest Angie and I have a couple Italian places here- mom and pop- that are much better-- not complaining about Macaroni Grill. Sorry about the bad memories Les has from the funeral-- maybe his daughter just didn't feel comfortable at the funeral after seeing her grandma at the viewing-- everyone reacts different to death.
Well Hi to Angel, SunnyD, Sami and Sue (sorry if I missed anyone!) GOTTA GO!! THEIS HOME AND IS STARVING AFTER HER YOGA
It's been a long day for me. Monday's are always long...my program comes on at 6pm, so don't get home til around 7pm. Woke up with a terrible headache...while taking a shower my nose went to bleeding pretty bad! I guess it was blood pressure headache. I kept it all day. Just now easing up. I'm on blood pressure meds. It did the same way the other day while driving to work...just started bleeding. Anyway....made it through the day...got Connie (assist manager &friend) to sing a couple of songs to give me a break...& made it through.
Garnet....I'm soooo sorry about your daughter's job. It's so sad when things like that happen to our children. We feel so helpless, as parents. She's right though...it was something she needed to work through. It's very dangerous for them to harm one of His "little ones". Wouldn't want to be in their shoes! I'm praying the Lord gives her a job worth a lot more than she lost! Tell her to look ahead...don't look behind her. Wipe their dust from her feet...& keep walking. If that's the kind of employee they are, she didn't need to be there! Sorry....guess I got stirred up too!
Gary...sounds like you're very involved in your daughter's sports! In fact, I've noticed what a good example you & Angie are with all that you're involved with. There are fortunate young people in your lives!
We miss the days our son played sports, & daughter was "flag girl"! Tiring, but, fun. Our grands are into sports now....we're lucky though, if we're able to "drag" to a game to watch! We do try though...& asked about them & how it's going. Especially the ones living away. WE try to go at least once a yr & watch a game. Makes them feel special to know we went all that way just to watch! My grandson made a home run for me last summer! Jumped up & down hollering...that's for you, mamaw!! Wouldn't think he would do that at 14...but, he did!
Christian...so glad to hear your dad's girlfriend is responding. I'll keep praying.
Michelle...It's ok...you need to know several guys. Don't commit to just one until you are very sure you want to do that. Sometimes you think you know someone...then later find you really didn't. Good luck. Keep us posted.
Wilma...it's cold here, too. It was such a beautiful day...you would think it is summer time! Then, tonight, suppose to be very, very cold. Sleet, ice, etc.
SunnyD...when I was growing up, Saturday was our house cleaning day. Our mother was VERY clean! May be why we're not quite that clean. She would have us even wash walls on Saturdays!! Yes....walls! Just like painting them...from top to bottom. There was times we lived in very nice houses...then after my dad's health got bad, & he couldn't work, we lived in not-so-nice houses. But, didn't matter....walls got washed in both! So you can imagine how we had to scrub the rest of the house! Kids at school looked forward to weekends. NOT US!!
Hi Sami...you rested from that wedding yet? You were so beautiful!
Hello to anyone I may have missed...forgive me....old & forgetful....
Gary: That Fed-Ex truck probably froze up coming through North Dakota. They got 18 inches of snow over the weekend. It's supposed to be even colder this week. Good thing I've got a quilt to work on!
Angel: I hope you're feeling better. do you get these nose bleed a lot?
Well, yesterday was a much better day with my WOE. I feel like I'm gaining control. If I want to snack in the p.m. I grab a handful of peanuts or popcorn but most of the time I drink a tall glass of water which does help.
I better get going to work. Have a super day everyone!!
Wow, thank you for the support regarding my date. I hate this conflicted feeling. I really had a great time with Charlie, he is very nice and attentive and seems to be real and he's a good catch, and i care for Les, but just not sure what he's thinking. I want to do the right thing. Part of the problem is the timing with Les' mom's passing. Don't want to upset him. Charlie and I may have lunch tomorrow and he wants to go to dinner this week, he's going away for the weekend but wants to see me before he goes.
Alpha was wonderful last night......tell you all about it later.
Have been keeping up with the posts - everyone seems to be doing fairly well.
Wilma - the cold is terrible isn't it - we just got over a bad one here in BC with it being -34 so now that it is -20 it feels warm. All the roads are closed though so we cannot leave town.
Am still working on my no potatoes and no bread. Am not missing the potatoes at all, probably could fall back into eating the bread if I let myself but I am not going to. One thing though is I have not have peanut butter or jam now for 26 days - and that is a biggy. Have had some bread but am going for absolutely no bread this week.
For January I have lost 5 pounds - weighins have been Mondays so I am sure I will lose a little this week, but am taking the 5 pounds as the reduction for Jan. Feel good about that as I aimed for 4 so I was blessed with an extra one.
For walking - am now up to 710 miles. And have started doing some toning exercises. Get up out of bed and do my crunches, and wall push ups every morning so far since Saturday. Then yesterday afternoon while watching Dr. Phil I used my free weights and walked on the treadmill. I am pleased with my 'intentional exercise' - it is improving.
After watching Dr. Phil yesterday and seeing how all those people have lost 11 - 13 pounds in 5 weeks makes me feel somewhat 'small' with only losing 5 in the same length of time. But you know what I did lose and that is what counts. Also have made some life changes. Also yesterday took my waist measurement (took it also back on January 1) and found that I have lost 1 inch off it in 26 days. I have not taken the other measurements - just went by what Dr. Phil said in the Food Guide. So will be measuring it again at the end of February to see what difference - with eating correctly and all my intentional exercise it should be down a little more again.
Hubby commented today that my pant legs were starting to look baggy -- now just to get more loose around the hips and waist and I will be able to go to the next smaller size - should I make this a goal for end of next month?
Anyway have to run - lots of chores to do before Dr. Phil comes on - and want to get supper somewhat prepared by then.
Would like to hear some more success stories on the food plans everyone is using - how much they have lost for January for instance.

Hi!
Hey there Coach (aka GARY)! I just couldn't post till I did my exercise today... didn't do it yesterday because Joe & I were out most of the day and when we did get home we totally vegged to the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean." with Jonny Depp (such a great movie!).
Well coach, I just finished about 15 minutes ago: 25 minutes (I'm working up to that 30 minutes...) and did 3.5 miles exactly. Whew!
No way I could do 45 minutes yet !!! Glad for you Gary!! Because I report to you everyday, I will not go without the elliptical during the weekdays (thanx so much!) - with an exception... ... on the days I go to CURVES... I cannot do both in a day (right now)... maybe someday I will.
Gary, I am so glad to hear that you had good results with your blood work, but you have to take care of that hernia. It will only get larger if you don't. You know you would tell me the same thing ~ go make that appointment, you won't regret it. Is it painful? My nephew has had that surgery & before it, he was in pain, but is fine now.
And YES, Roadhouse Res. is the one with peanuts in buckets in the shell and shells go on the floor. We had a couple of great meals. We brought home half of the steaks and had steak & eggs for breakfgast on Monday before we went to get our shinny clean teeth
No fair talking about gardening to those of us who are knee-high in ice and snow! "What are you thinkin'?!"
Me too ANGEL, being I was the oldest I was always along side my mother cleaning - every weekend... and I have pictures that my mom took of me washing walls in the closet of my room at the age of 6 or 7, the bucket was larger then me - we did walls too. And I also babysat & cooked. Yep, allot different from most kids today, huh.
Angel, why did you make the print so small?? I had a difficult time reading it without my glasses (I am still waiting for them to be fixed). Like your graphics... cute! The HOME one is from the site I have... they have good country graphics there.
Feel better real soon!
MICHELE, I must agree with Angel... date. This way you will know for sure when the right one does come along. The only reason I asked about Tom (shy-guy) or Les is because I just thought that's who you were interested in and no one else. Hope I didn't say something to offend you or make you feel badly about dating. Glad to hear that you and Charlie are having a good time together.
GARNET, prayers for your DD (DearDaughter)... I hope she finds a better job then the last one and finds it soon. Keep us posted, okay.
SAMI, I posted your pictures for you - now where are you kiddo? Hope you are feeling okay!!!!
Hi WILMA, Whew! That's allot of snow & cold! You guys can keep it - we have enough of our own here. Stay warm & safe!
Hi SPROUT! Great job!!! My stats are always posted at the bottom of my post.
CHRISTIAN, I am so happy to hear that your father's DGF is doing so much better! I had faith that she would get better I am so very happy for you all! Hope that you were able to get back on track... how are you doing?

Oh my gosh! SUE,I am so very sorry! I didn't mean to leave you out!! What is the matter with me
Saving up that $$$$ for your trip - so cool! You will have such a good time when you go this summer. Hey... is there any room in that suitcase for me too I wanna come too??? I don't want to be left behind... ... ...
As for the pictures --- glad to be of service Anytime... hope SAMI comes by soon to pay us a visit.
What's for dinner at your home? I made Salmon brushed with garlic olive oil and seasoned with herbs with a side of fresh steamed broccoli... yum!
Just got home from my step-daughter's soccer game (lost 2-0) and a fundraiser at Baja Fresh for my nephew's trip to Washington D.C. It was a pretty good turn-out from people from church-- not sure yet on the take but the kids get %15 of all the money taken in if you had a flyer for the fundraiser- every little bit helps.
Well I did 4 miles- 500 calories--and 38 minutes today on the elliptical. I was really sore from the 5 miles yesterday at harder tension. Good thing I did exercise anyway as I ate enough for 2 at the fundraiser--HEY IT WAS FOR A GOOD CAUSE
My daughter just called and wants to bring a car load of college girls by for dinner in a couple of weeks-- of course I said NO WAY- Heck no- I love college girls They are going 8 hours up the coast, after their tennis match that day, for the wedding of their captain from last year.
SUNNYD- GLAD TO SEE YOU! I thought you might have gotten stuck on your elliptical There is no need to do it if you went to Curves-- you want to exercise as much as you can without OVER-DOING it, I have seen my wife do way too much (and she knows it) only to be out for a week or two from injury or pain. That is why I take it EASY Angie and I liked the Pirates of the Carbbien-- have you been to Disneyland? The movie has sooo many things in it from the ride-funny and way cool Angie said to tell you -Sorry- about the gardening but that it was OVERCAST some of the day! Thanks for the concern on my hernia- I do intend to get it taken care of before it gets too big- right now it isn't so much painfull as an annoyance. I have Angie and the kids feel it when I cough- hilarious the reactions!
SUE Boy the trip is sounding more fun all the time- sure is gonna be crowded! Thank you too for the concern on my hernia. Try to not work too hard- ya don't want to be sick from all the overtime.
SPROUT Great job on the walking. I have a question though about the bread and peanut butter-- are you sure you can't have it at all? I know it must be a Dr. Phil thing- and I think he is great- but my wife has WHOLE WHEAT bread with peanut butter for breakfast a lot of mornings and she says it holds her over to lunch no problem. Just curious.
ANGEL I do spen a lot of time with my kids sports. My #1 thing to do. I rarely miss a match or game, wether it be high school, college or rec. I bet your Grandkids sure love it when you are there! Wish i had grandkids- of course I don't want my kids to get married yet- just grandkids!
MICHELE So what are you now girl- "CHARLIE'S ANGEL"? Guess you better get off the EXCUSE TRAIN on the exercise and get crackin'- You are gonna need to get in shape to keep all these boys happy
WILMA Tried sending sun again today- if that fails I will send blankets!! Or at least pray for warmth!!
SAMI and JUDY Come on back O.K.?
ASKING FOR PRAYERS TONIGHT FOR OUR VICAR'S (pastor in training) FATHER. HE HAS A TUMOR ON HIS BRAIN, ONLY 47 YEARS OLD, AND NEEDS SURGERY SOON. THANK-YOU!

Morning
Now... GARY, you know that I was joshing you & ANGIE about the gardening, don't you!? I always enjoy hearing what you two are up to and so do the others... especially about flower's & garden's... we all long for it so much right about now! I was just Kidding with you
Prayers!!!! For your Pastor in training... he is the same age I will be on the 8th of Feb. ! How very sad! Prayers!!!
Gary...a housefull of college girls! I can just hear all the giggling now! What will you cook for them?
I'll be praying for your Pastor in training. My step dad had a very large tumor on his brain a couple of yrs ago. They cut him from one ear to the other. Came home in two days! Did fine. It wasn't malignant,l & hasn't returned. Hope all goes as well for him.
Sue...I always wanted to go on a cruise!! We were planning one for our 25th wedding anniv., but DH chickened out. He's always had the fear of cruises. Said if anything happened...there was nowhere to go! Well, we're having our 36th in June....still no cruise. Guess I'll give up!
Thanks for asking about our case....still nothing. The last we heard from lawyer was the week before Christmas. Maytag Co offered $12,000...NOT! We lost more than that in the storage theft! I can't understand why people can sue over such small things & win big money.....anyway, lawyer said we should take it....he & I had a few words over that! We're looking for a new lawyer (he doesn't know)...don't feel like he's trying hard enough at all. Think he though he'd make a quick buck. Only thing, we're having trouble knowing where to go, or what to do. Very discouraging. Our living conditions are terrible! Sometimes I don't think I can take it anymore.
SunnyD...I really like your new little graphics! I didn't realize the "welcome" was from your site.... . I try not to go into the site you're using...so there'll be a variety. I was just looking for something country. Hope you find this print more readable. Don't you just hate when you have to do without your glasses?! Hope you get them back soon.
We have a restaurant with the peanuts, too. It's called Logan's.
Sprout...Good job on weightloss!! Hope you're feeling well.
Wilma...I don't normally get nose bleeds a lot. Just started lately. I noticed when I have a bad headache (figure bp is up), or when I get stressed or upset (again bp goes up) I've noticed I'm more easily stressed, or nervous since the fire & theft. I've just recently been put back on bp meds. Used to take it, for have been off for over 6 yrs.
Mitchypoo...It sounds like you're enjoying life & dating more than you used to. I hope so.
