Daphne you won't see Idol tonight either. They are showing it tomorrow instead due to the "speach" tonight. I think it's just more unuseful political moves by bush against kerry if you ask me. It's not time for state of the union and even if it were, it would be more bashing. Glad I didn't become a politician.
It was my SIL who's losing weight and I haven't seen her but she lost by eating 20 grams of fat or less a day and no red meats. If you're following a low carb plan daphne, you eat all the cheese you want cause most of it is carb free. There's an excuse for every plan.
Is your Pilates the Windsor pilates? I did it for about 7 weeks and didn't lose or change my body at all. I didn't quit for those reasons but because I got off track with our trips we took. I haven't gotten back on it. Camping was real well and no rain but it's rained the whole time since we've been home. It's dark out there now. No outside plans though so I'm ok with that.
I have the Denise AUastin Pilates for everybody Disc. I bought it at a garage sale for a dollar. I am going to go watch it and see how it is. I also have a TaeBo tape that I have to watch. I got them for a dollar each as well. One tape is the instructional video and the other is the work out tape. It is the one with Billy Blanks.
I had that low carb pizza and it didn't agree with my tummy. I keep having to go to the bathroom.
Chat laters!
Daphne
Oh Dana I went to Dollar Tree today and got some more card stuff. They had some cute cut outs there and they have like 30 thinks in a package.
Dana, I'm so glad you had such a good field trip and camping. How was the temp while you were camping? I'm with you on the political crap! I hate it. I can't wait till the election is over. It seems like someone is running for something all the time!
Daph, how are those tapes you got? Those were excellent deals! I'd've snapped them up too. Any other bargains lately?
Deborah, what's up? Are you still in agony? I hope your back is all better and that you are just too busy to post. Is BJ moved yet?
I've been running myself ragged the last week or so. We had a Silent Auction on the 6th and a garage sale of all the stuff that didn't sell to the residents on Thurs, the 8th. Mom and I had a table at the garage sale, too. She made $51 and I made $35. So, we were happy with that.
Friday afternoon Kevin came over to visit and tell me he got a job. He's been out of work since before Christmas '02. Then that night Kim came over and we celebrated my birthday. She brought a Hostess Cupcake with a birthday candle in it.
A week ago Saturday night (the 3rd), we had a bigger party to celebrate Tom and Deb's anniversary, Kim's hubby, Mike's birthday and my birthday. All of us were there and Kevin and Terry came, too. We had a ball. Of course, we laughed our heads off!
Saturday, my birthday, mom took me out to my favorite restaurant for dinner. I had linguini with Pink Pepper sauce. I've probably mentioned that meal before, cause it's my all time favorite pasta sauce I've ever had! It's a combo of a Spicy hot pepper sauce and Alfredo sauce. She gave me a $50 dollar check instead of those giant roses she has been getting. She asked which I'd prefer...guess which it was!
Then, on Easter we went to my cousin's house. She had ham, scalloped potatoes, gr. bean casserole, homemade noodles, pickled eggs and beets, and three yummy desserts.
Needless to say, I haven't gotten back into the dieting thing yet. I have brushed up on Suzanne Somers' plan and will be starting it soon. Deb and I haven't gone to Curves yet, either. One of her friends has a magazing article on how to do Curves on your own with dumbbells and elastic bands and stuff we already have, so we may check that out first. But something is going to get done soon.
I'm going to get off here and rest a while. I finally have an afternoon off!
Gayle I want to say first and foremost that I am so SORRY for overlooking your birthday. I know we were gone last saturday but I could have brought it up sometime before or even after. I hope you enjoyed it but again, I sincerely apologize. I know you never let ours slip by without noticing.
Things have been so crazy around here this week. First there's an issue with Kevin's legs. They hurt him so bad nearly all the time. He's practically addicted to aspirin and tylenol. He called a Dr. yesterday who is in-network with our new insurance and they are suppose to mail him some "new patient" papers and then he has to make an app't. I've been reading about a lot of serious things it can be and it all resorts to either medication and bedrest (being off of them) or even surgery if it's actually his back and not his legs. I don't know what we will do if he can't work.
As for the issues with logan and school, we haven't had anymore problems with it but the school board was notified and I was told that they were investigating it and would give me a call. The principal was out of school all day yesterday so I don't know if maybe they met then or what but thank goodness I haven't had to exchange "eyes" with that man this week.
I will be gone most of wednesday to our state capital (Columbia) with laken, a blind friend of hers and her mom and our vision teacher. It's a conference/evaluation for visually impared students. I hope to learn a lot about things that are available for these kids educations.
Our church is having it's huge yearly drama production and have put it on 4 times already. They were suppose to do it lastnight and tonight as well. We all got ready and went lastnight and after then working for 30 minutes, they announced it was cancelled. They had no lights. They have a milllion dollar sound and light system and something happened. They are suppose to work on it today and try again tonight but I don't plan on going. I wanted kevin to see it with me this year cause he's never seen it.
Last night as I was walking in the church, one of the tiny straps on my sandals had broken. Both of my grandmothers in the last 3 weeks have given me about 30 pairs of shoes. Most of them never worn but the thing with most of them are they are so old that they fall apart.
Brett's sugars have been in the 50's at school prior to lunch and rather than treating him and allowing him to go to recess and then lunch like the others, they send him to the nurse. First of all, they aren't following our diabetic school care plan that was developed over the summer which is a reason why we should have met this new nurse. He checks his sugar at 11:30 and then they go to recess and straight to lunch at 12:10. He's not suppose to walk to the nurse (that eats up more sugar). He's really suppose to go on and get his lunch. I may have to talk to someone there about that. He's only having these lows on days that he has PE which is first thing in the mornings 2 days a week. If he would just remind me of that, we can cut back on insulin by only a unit and be fine.
These next 2 are pretty biggies. UPS delivered a box yesterday that contained $100 worth of NASCAR stuff. Like 10 hats, and 12 pairs of earrings or something like that. It evidently was sent to the wrong person but it has kevin's name and address on the box. I don't know how that happened but we've never ordered anything like that so I don't know how our address was on it. We're not sure what to do with it but DH says if it stays here a week, then it's his to do with what he wants to.
Brett ordered $27.99 worth of stuff through a catalog of Yugioh mess. That's just a childs collecting thing that comes on tv if you're not familiar with it. Anyway, the check was cashed back on march 2. I ordered this for him in feb. I've contacted the company via email that it was mailed to and they never got it. After faxing them the check, it was cashed at Bank of America and they only have a Bank One account. It wasn't even endorsed. They told me to take it to my bank which I did and they couldn't help really but said to take it to Bank Of America here in town and they could tell us who's account it was on. They said that the B.O.A. bank was in deep trouble taking a check with no endorsing on it. Well I will try to take care of that monday but it looks like someone cashed it for personal reasons and we never got anything.
Dana, that is quite alright. Birthdays are not that important anymore, but I had a great one anyway! I didn't mention it before the BIG day, so I really didn't expect anything. And you are being very kind in saying that I always acknowledge your birthdays. I'm not always very good at that sort of thing.
Yes, you definitely need to contact the school about Brett's sugar readings. They are not doing their part and this is too important to ignore. I guess you did get a new nurse then?
Does Kevin's legs hurt him like an ache all the time, or does pain shoot down them? I ask because if it's his back, I would think the pain would be from a pinched nerve and be a shooting pain. My prayers are with him.
I got your Easter card! It was so cute. Thank you. It was my only Easter card, so you definitely made up for the birthday!
I hope you learn a lot of things that help Laken. You are such a great mother. My praises go to you! You're quite the traveller lately, aren't you?
I'd think that if you don't hear anything about the Nascar stuff that it is yours. Sell it on Ebay if it's not "your guy"! And that is weird about the stuff Brett ordered.
How is your dad doing? And your Grandma and the rest of the family.
How is the weather? Ours is GORGEOUS today. It's 69 degrees now and going up. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the upper 70's. We have lots of flowers already, but tons more will be bursting open this weekend. I hope the frosty weather is gone for the spring!
Mom and I are decorating for the catered dinner Wednesday night. I may have mentioned the cute centerpieces Kev's wive, Terry, made for her daughter's shower. I'm going to use them and buy several paper tablecloths in several pastel colors, and use some kind of confetti or ribbon or something like that to trail down the center of the tables. We're getting those circles of netting and make favors and I'm printing out placecards in a flowery font to put on the favors. I'll let you know how it looks...maybe take a pic and post it IF it's pretty enough.
I was asked today if I would consider being the interim VP for the Resident's Association. The president quit this month and the VP is taking her place and they need another officer. I think I'll do it. Remember when I was Pres. and I quit? This won't be as stressful...I don't THINK!!!
Daphne, I am trying to get the newsletter to you guys. I may settle for printing it out and sending it snail-mail.
Deborah, it was nice to say hi the other day. Are you getting caught up on the work? Hope your back is all better by now.
I'm getting off and resting for a while. I'm in the process of cleaning the apartment. The kitchen is done and the bath is almost. Bedroom is much better and living room is tolerable!
Hello Everyone!! How was everyones EASTER
Sorry to be MIA for so long, but my back was out and then my eye end up scratched on Thursday and I had go to the doctors!
Gayle....HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY!!! It sounds like you had a rip-roaring time with all the dinning out and Easter dinner you have been doing...lol. Congrats on becoming VP I am so happy that you joined Curves and thinking about Summersizing your food again! Let me know how you like curves?
Dana...I am really sorry that I didn't get to help you draft that letter about the bar down the street. I was thinking that maybe what you need is a petition, with all the neighbor's signatures on it to take before the liquor board. I am so sorry to hear that your DH is having problems with his leg's. Do you think it could be arthritis? Have you talked to DH about the package from Nascar? Did you get the Yugi-oh card thing straighten out?
Daphne...Your Computer sounds Divine! I am jelous of you lady! How is everything going? Are you back OP? Didn't you join Curves too? How is your family?
Ann and Mavis...Where are you two? Post soon we miss ya!
Okay a real quick synopis of my crazy April!!!
First BJ found a house 4br 2ba in South S.J.(45 minutes away from me), and got the keys on Good Friday! So the kids and started helping her move in Easter weekend (even with a bad back). We stayed down at her old house on Saturday night and the kids woke to Easter basket's on Sunday. We went to Breakfast at Hometown Buffet then back to packing and moving into the new house. BJ's dad (Ray) is very weird...he only wanted to move one room at a time and to set up each room before starting on the next. So Sunday we spent the day...Shelving BJ's kitchen cabinets, while Ray washed every dish BJ owns (includingtwo sets of china --one from when we were married). I felt like it was a waste of time...but this is what they wanted to do. The kids spent the afternoon running through the sprinklers at BJ's new house and then we went to dinner at a chinese resteraunt in BJ's new neighborhood. (My kids said it was the "worst" Easter ever...because they didn't get to hunt for eggs...at their age...lol) I brought Filly and Tiff home with me to spend the night (I was off Mon and Tues), but my kids had school. Work has been beyond crazy since I have been off so much...I am so far behind it isn't even funny On Thursday, while at work, my eye started turning red and I was getting stabbing pain in it. I couldn't stand the light, (thank goodness it was overcast as I drove to the doctor's). I was off on Friday because of the infection in my eye. But I couldn't rest because I had planned Joseph's B-day party...so I ran out an bought him a cakeand streamers. It was **** trying to put up balloon and streams with my back. I had asked a neighbor and she flaked on me, so I called in a friend from church to come over for 45minutes and help me (I was in crisis trying to get the house together before the kids came home from school) Then I ordered Pizza for pick-up after the movie (We saw Hellboy) and BJ, her DH and Kids came up and met us at the theater. It was an okay evening. Joseph got his Gamecube and a game, he was happy. We had and and ice cream (needless to say...I feel off my diet...lol ) I spent Saturday recouperating (I was suppose to go down and help BJ...but she didn't call me so I spent the day lounging with the kids.) Yesterday we went to church, and then down to help BJ, we only got one load done. (She still has a huge mess with the garage...and still haven't moved over their livingroom stuff yet). Next weekend will probably be the garage's turn to be packed and moved. Well, I have so much work to do it is horrible...I have to get off of here and actually do some.
DRINK WATER ALL.
love ya,
Deborah

So good to get a report on the crazy daze of Deborah!!! Does BJ like her new house? Sounds great with 4 br and 2 baths. Sorry for you that it's farther away, though. How is your eye and back? Boy, you've been plagued lately, huh? Keep plugging away, sister!
I'm getting ready to go downstairs and figure out the decorations for tomorrow night. Mom and I went Sunday and bought them, now I have to make sure they are going to work!! I talked to Kevin yesterday, so I know that the ribbon rose flower arrangements are available today. I may be taking him to work today and can get them today. He called me Saturday and asked if I had any money. He had gone to Cleveland (60 miles north of us) and lost his whole exhaust system on the way home, then the car died on the freeway! He had to be towed home and now doesn't have a car. He finally, after 27 months, got a job and now he doesn't have transportation!
Deborah, I haven't joined Curves yet. The cost is still prohibitive, but Debby and I may go for the free week to see what we think. But, I have started on Suzanne. I did well yesterday, till 9 last night and then I broke and ate the rest of some tuna-mac salad I had leftover in the fridge! But, I'm back on today and see how it goes.
I'm going to go and finish my email and get on those decorations. I'll let you know how they work.
Hi everyone I am here. Sorry for not posting sooner had a long rough weekend. I was honestly ready to walk out on Jason and the kids. I just get sick of life here at times. I was stressed way to far and had some nice ole stress eatting going on. I am up 3 pounds as of yesterday. I am however back on track today. I wanted to join Curves but I don't have a babysitter for the kids in the Summer and refuse to pay for time i can't go. I still have to look into the Y and look into LiteWeights 4 Women. It is a small gym for women only.
Gayle I am so happy that you are having a blast being so social! Happy Belated Birthday and i am so horrified that I didn't realize it and get you your card out! Please forgive from the bottom of my heart.
Deborah I am so sorry for all of your woes that you have been having. I am thankful that BJ did get a house finally. I forget what is the reason that he Dad lives with them? I would not want a parent mine or Jasons living with me! How does she handle that? How is work going today? Are you still going to OE?
Dana how have you been? I am shocked that the school is not following the medical plan. Well I guess that I really am not all that shocked after all that I ahve gone thru with the school system. I can't belive the camping fees that you have!I am going to have to see what ours are now.
I will post more later today. Hope y'all have a super de duper day!
Daphne
Daphne...I am so sorry to hear that you had a bad weekend! What did "that Man" and "two kids" do to you to make you so upset? I am happy that you got back on track...that is the important thing! Keep it up sis! I think we all are emotional eaters....(heck I just love the taste of food...lol) but I know that when I am stress I reach for something bad. Just keep posting we are here for you!
Gayle...I feel bad also that I didn't remember your B-day! Well, it sounds like you are keeping yourself busy with the party tomorrow. The decorations sound beatiful. So how much is it going to cost Kevin to get his car fixed? You are definately a good friend to give him rides and money! And I am very proud of you for starting Suzanne's program!!! Let us know how the party goes!!
Dana...Thank you also for your Easter card it was very nice I really loved it!
How is your DH? Did you get the paperwork yet for the Dr? I know you mentioned that the school wasn't following Bretts med plan...is he doing okay though? Is it having any kind of negative affect on him?
Mavis and Ann...Post soon!!
I was so happy when I got on the scale this morning and had lost. I couldn't believe it!! I am not going to OE meeting anymore and actually I am not following the diet to the T either now. I am still eating the yogurt and strawberrys for Breakfast, the 4oz meat and 6oz veggie for lunch. But I have been cheating. Yesterday, I ate at least 40 jellybeans during work, (a co-worker has a candy dish on her desk) and 4 bitesize sneakers w/a glass of milk for desert. I have to tell ya, I am starting to think "I am addicted to sugar" because after the Jellybeans...I want more and more and more sweats, hence the snickers for desert. Well ladies, I have to get off of here and try to get the mound of paperwork off my desk before I leave at 3 to go to the Dr. I have a return visit (at 20 bucks a pop) for my eye.
DRINK WATER OR ICE TEA
Deborah
Hey ladies!
I really Blew it today! I had 2 slices of and 4 for lunch. Not to mention grapes, salad, and strawberries. They decide to have Admin Appreication day at work and had lunch for us...of course I was left cleaning up the mess. The pizza was so good, it was pesto pizza with almonds (sounds weird...but taste devine). It was probably a million calories though.
On another note...I have a major headache from Darcie, she calls me from her friends cell phone and want to go with her to Jack-n-box and they would take Joseph. But, she doesn't have any money and I didn't want her to go and mooch off of other people. Plus take her Brother along to mooch too. It just pissed me off that I am suppose to let her run off after school. She was whining and crying because she has to go home after school and do housework and watch Joseph. But the truth of the matter is that she doesn't go home and watch him. Every day after school she goes to track while Joseph stays at home by himself, then I come and pick him up for his fencing or karate before she even gets home. Then she is doing homework (or suppose to be) until I get home at 6:20. Last night she wasn't even done with home work and I actually was the one up till 11:30 last night printing out and editing her work.
I am just so mad that she feels so abused, but if you all saw our house, you would definately know that no one (Especially not her) is staying home cleaning it all day!
And here she has a book report due tomorrow and church tonight and yet she wants to goof off all afternoon with her friends.
Okay enough ranting...I have to get back to work.
Everyone POST SOON!!!
Drink water
Deborah:angel;
Hi, Deborah! I'm still here...I tried to post yesterday, but cyberspace was screwed up!
About your "cheating", I know I've said this over and over, but I think it bears repeating. When I lost all that weight in 2000, I had a day every week when I allowed myself to eat anything and everything I wanted. It kept those awful cravings at bay. Just don't let it go on too long, or you'll see those pounds creeping back on! (I KNOW this is news to you!... )
Does BJ like her new house? Yes, men certainly have some strange ideas about how to go about doing a project! Did they get the garage done, or is that this weekend?
Things here are fairly normal. Kim came over last night and we watched "Chicago". Her DH won't watch movies unless they are westerns or war for the most part! MEN! Oh well, that means more movie nights for me and Kim and sometimes Debby! I have several she hasn't seen yet.
I'm working on getting the newsletter finished for print this coming week. I found a couple of really nice Mother's Day poems and a picture that looks so much like my mom and me when I was little, that I can't believe it! So, I used that and a poem about mom cooking and that's her "card".
The dinner went really well last Wed night. The tables turned out really beautiful and I got a lot of compliments. Those ribbon rosebud arrangements I borrowed from Terry (Kev's wife) worked perfectly! The catered food was good, too. BBQ ribs, baked pots, glazed carrots, Waldorf salad, and pineapple-orange cake with whipped cream frosting. Not one thing on that menu is allowed by Suzanne Somer's Plan (which I started last Sunday), exept for the ribs, without the sauce containing sugar, but I ate with gusto!!! But I started back right away on Thurs, so I hope things are ok.
I haven't had any trouble starting back on Suzanne. Once I get into cooking the wonderful recipes she has in her books, I love it! I bought a spaghetti squash the other day and baked it and scraped out the "strings" last night, so I'm making a tomato-meat sauce for my "pasta" tonight. I'm going to cook up some macaroni for mom's meal. I'm also having a huge tossed salad.
Next week, I hope to start an exercizing program. I'm going to start slowly since, exactly as I expected, I haven't done a thing since Kathy stopped classes! Deb and I still haven't gone to Curves to see if we can do it and afford it. I'll do what I've done time and time again...drag out my Richard tape and start slowly!
Well, I'm going to go and get some stuff put away out in the living room...OMG!!! I almost forgot to tell you! I was "surprize" inspected yesterday! They warned us that the inspector for the elderly housing would be here to do inspections of only 4 apartments. Well, since there are 20 apts on my floor, I, stupidly, played the odds (being on my side...95% chance they wouldn't inspect ME!), and didn't put all the decorations away, and here they come! I was in bed watching soaps(!) and they came knocking! I was sooo embarrassed! I asked the inspector when he could come back and see it cleaned up! He said, "In about a year." So, I said, "Good! That gives me plenty of time!" I sincerely hope he looked in the corners of the kitchen and bathroom to see that things were "clean", just not, as we say here in Ohio, "red-up". (That means 'tidy' to everyone else!)
OK...NOW I'm going. Have a good weekend, everyone.
Red-up??? say what???? Gayle you are a crack up! I am here just been really sick. I have a bad chest cold and no energy this week. I will post more tomorrow just wanted to say hi and buh bye for now! I will post tomorrow and comment to all of you,
Daphne
Red-up...yes, I have to admit it...I use it all the time! It's an Ohioism! I grew up with it and just recently learned that it is not a part of the vernacular of the rest of the country!
Hope you feel better really soon, Daph! How are things with the family trouble you talked about last time? Hope things have settled down.
Deborah, how is work? and have you been able to catch up on your work?
I'm in a money depression right now. We don't have any money, and the service engine soon light came on in the car yesterday. The temp gauge was as high as it could go, so I'm taking it into the shop tomorrow. We can't pay for it yet, so I told them if the bill is too much, I'll just have to leave it there till I get my check at the first of the month. It wouldn't make any difference if i could get it back tomorrow, because I just found the renewal notice for our insurance that didn't get paid by the 4/17 deadline, so I guess we don't have any insurance on it anyway! AND, I called to make payment arrangements with the insurance agent and his office is closed till the 30th. So, I don't have a car. Good thing Kevin got his car started over the weekend and can drive it (without exhaust) till he can afford to get it fixed.
Also, the girl here who bought mom her cat and paid the deposit for it, isn't getting the full amount of her back SS payment, so it doesn't look like I'll get my air conditioner AGAIN! I guess I am just not meant to have one, huh?
I've never heard of "red up" either. I can tell you the inside of my "lower" lip is red-up though cause I bit it just a minute ago while eating and it hurts. It sure was chilly here this morning and they are threatening for frost in the mountains tonight and we don't live that far from there. I don't like it frosty or real hot either.
I had to take my dog in for her booster shot this morning and went to my bank. I have been in a run around about that check that someone intercepted in the mail and basically was told this morning that it had been too long to do anything about it. None of that was my fault. Besides the time that they have been chasing me in circles, I didn't get the check until late march with my bank statement and then the order form I mailed it to said to give 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. I gave it 4 and then contacted them only to find out that they never received or cashed the check. My bank tells me that I need to take it up with the company. How do you do that if they didn't get the check? Maybe because it was written to them then they can claim fraud? I'm confused about it all. I emailed our states check fraud agency earlier. I'll see if they can make sense of it for me.
We went bowling lastnight with all of the school aged kids who have disabilities. It was kinda fun to get out like that. I didn't want to get up this morning though so it would have been more fun on a friday night. My cousin who lives nearly behind me had her baby yesterday. It's an almost 7 pound girl. I think maybe she will come home tomorrow cause they were wanting to tie her tubes. She said it was too much of a "bad" pregnancy to want a 3rd one.
Gayle don't feel bad about your money. I am and have been in that same boat for a long time now. Kevin has no clue that I didn't send in his car payment for march and april's is due tomorrow. I will try to send in one this week though. He only had like 4 to 5 payments left on it. Have you thought of doing decorations for parties or interior decoration for an income? You are so talented with taste for that.
Kevin goes to the dr. on thursday to see if they can help with his painful legs. It doesn't bother him everyday. In fact these last 2 have been fine but he has to work today and tomorrow and I bet he will hurt when he comes in this evening.
Deb my kids are the same way with feeling like they never get to do anything. They think they are adults. Sad to say but since brett has had diabetes, he doesn't ask to go places anymore. Not unless it's something I can do with him. He doesn't trust his care with anyone else just yet and that's good enough for me. Now logan wanted money for the book fair today. They don't understand that they had a book fair in the fall and bought stuff and then they had spring pictures made that cost $25 each child last week and this is the first time for spring pict. I wasn't prepared for that. Is there a pill you can swollow to eat stress? That's why we're big cause we are eat up with this and that. I was a solo vacation.
Daphne I hope you're feeling better by now. Have you talked to ann lately? She's been on my mind recently and hope that she's ok. Let us know if you talk to her. Are you still into your cards? I need to make some more. My stock is really low now. I had about 10 auctions going last week and this one lady won 8 of them. I'm waiting on payment so I can mail them to her.
Well hate to type and run but I have house work to do and supper to plan and I leave in about 2 hours for that all too exciting school pickup. NOT!
