I've even survived "dumb ***"... but now, FAT ***... them's fightin words.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Mine has started off strange. Managed to lose long awaited pay check... perhaps left it on work table at the office. Now must traipse all the way across town to see if I can save face and checking account.
Annoying investment of time on a day when I thought I could get to paints AND flowers AND good new book... not to mention a bit of cleaning up here and there.
Good news, went to bed without a pre-bed binge. Scale must have known I was thinking about it though because I was up this am. Grrrrrr
Cowgirl, you're going to do just fine. You can handle it. Just keep repeating I think I can, I think I can. Congrats on the new job, wow, you didn't have enough stress without a new job too?
This is what I have to do today-
Qtrly payroll reports
Sales tax report
Call accountant about our personal income tax return (of course I filed an extension back in April)
Get appointment for lab work for upcoming surgery
Pay personal bills
And I know there are other things I'm supposed to do, but I only think about them at 4 am. By morning, they fall right out of my head.
We're supposed to hit 100 degrees today. There goes the rest of my garden I wait all year for my lilies to bloom and then we get a heat wave and they cook.
Wow -- I'm back and I don't think I can deal with all the volumes of messages y'all (hey, I was in NC) have written. But I will try, later on.
Peaches, you didn't wait until I got home to deal with the little puppy! Where did you take it? I would have suggested the Labrador Retriever Rescue Organization, assuming there is one in FL. Hope he got a good home anyway.
Hey, all: Is the messiest house award self-announced or is there a judge? I may be a contender. OK. Off to find my check and ressurect my checking account.

Isn't "passed a load of sod" kind of a crude way to put it?

I totally agree! I just spent a week with my mom and family; it's a relief to be back here where I can get a word in edgewise!

Cool, send him to Maine! U of Maine has a great hockey venue (and usually a great team too).

Instead of obsessing on food, she started obsessing on why she kept doing self-destructive things. I have to admit she is kind of a drag, because she is so "self aware" but she's thin.
Well, that's it, I'm not going to eat healthy. I don't want to be a drag.

Sounds like me and my sis. Had no idea we were so icky.

On the contrary, he bought me dinner once. That's a redeeming value.

I miss Kiwi.
Aw, shucks, thanks. Method Pilates sounds kind of good. I bought a Pilates book and I don't think I got anything out of it.

That's a good idea. I should draw up a schedule of rewards for myself. Sounds like more fun than planning a diet menu.

Yup, I had an adorable tech doing my carotid and heart ultrasounds (did I tell you about those? I had them a couple of days before I went to the beach. They were fine, no probs). He wasn't a young pup, but he was very cute and totally nice. I, of course, felt like a blimp.

Goodness, of course! Don't you remember those nice Canadian soldiers we gunned down in Afghan'n?
Last summer when we were sailing in NYC Harbor, we saw a few Canadian navy ships coming down the Hudson.

Is that a kissing festival? Doesn't busking mean kissing? Sounds pretty interesting to me.

Lord, not after reading all these entries. It's taking me all day.
Here's a great joke, with affection for all Canadians, as you know.
**********************************************
Two friends lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. They were
sick of winter, so they went to a travel agent and booked a trip
to Australia.
When the two friends got off the plane - still wearing their down
jackets, wool hats and snow boots - they wandered into a pub and
sat down. The locals wondered about these strangers, so one of
the Aussies walked over to the visitors and said, "G'day, mates.
Where're you from?"
"Saskatoon, Saskatchewan," one of the Canadians replied.
"Oh," said the Aussie, returning to his table.
"So where are they from?" the other locals asked.
"Don't know," replied the Aussie. "They don't speak English."
I got miracle mail today. Mailed to the wrong address and all. SO NICE TO GET..
Kiwi, in my experience 98 percent of Canadians when asked where they're from say "Canada." If you want to know any details, you can ask and they may or may not say. I'd like to know it's them, in advance, and say I'm from the U.S.
Wabby, excuse me, but I don't have a new job. The evil woman (WHOM YOU FAVORED OVER ME ALL ALONG) got the job. I have a potential job.
2) For two days, I have worried over insurance. I was supposed to have it yesterday but didn't know that. Insurance people weren't returning my calls and when they did were coming in with estimates SO HIGH that it made me speechless. I called the cheapest one today, went in and wrote out my check. She said, "I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that I checked your credit and you owe us $102 less because of your good credit .. bad news is you have to write another check."
I never thought I had good credit. Happily wrote her a check and ran.
Been busy having my usual bi-monthly mid-life crisis and trying to get in touch with my Higher Self. Working pretty well so far.
Since dh has been home on holidays we have: bought two new book cases and put the boxes and boxes of books that were clogging the basement into them, cut down several trees in the garden, painted another bookshelf and moved the writing desk that nobody ever uses from the living room to the hall. I think we're on a roll.
We have no idea whose house is really the messiest, Painty. I'm sure we'd all tie for first place and have to share the honour
I'm positively affirming that Peachy will get (no, that she already HAS) her potential job.
How is your higher self? I haven't seen mine in a while.
(Example) I spent last night watching reality shows. But really, you have to see Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. It is hilarious. And Cupid and Last Comic Standing are very humorous too. To my credit (in my enfeebled mind only, I suppose) at least I haven't been watching the latest Big Brother or the one where the kids find their father a new wife . But I should probably get a life, right?
My project for today is to go to the bank and grocery store to stock up DD for her trip to SoulFest-click here . She's supposed to take a bible with her. I sincerely doubt that she will. She is not going for the spiritual enlightenment, she's going for the rock music and the exhilarating freedom.
Did I tell you that DD has a black marker drawing all over her stomach? Her friends at music camp did it on her. It's, well, actually very cool, but of course I feel obligated to make her wash it off. So far, I have not insisted and she keeps going over it with indelible marker But I'm afraid she really must before she goes to this soulfest thing. It was bad enough seeing her in a bikini at the beach with a "tattooed" midriff, the churchy people will faint dead away. Because you've all been so nice, I'm going to show you--see below.
