Thanks for the advice Terry. She phoned me after dinner tonight and even though I don't like what she did, I did try to be accomodating and left it that we would wait to see what the numbers were from the RSVP's and then decide what to do next Thursday. She ticked me though as she tried to tell me that my sister had said it would be alright to invite more people and I know my sister didn't as she only heard about the extra invites last night. Oh well. I'm dealing with a woman who is way out of my league. My hubby just laughed and rolled his eyes and said I'm dealing with an iron fist in a velvet glove
Your right though...I just want to make it through the wedding and have it be as nice a day as possible for Janet and Ash and go from there. I do like her MIL but I don't agree with the way she handles a few things but it's only 7 more weeks until the wedding and I"m sure my tongue will hold out until then LOL.
Weigh in is tomorrow so we'll see how I did.
Take care and thanks all for listening to me vent.
Hi Ladies
Thanks for the input on the hairstyles i really like #2 as well but my hair is about 3" from my waist right now so to cut it even shorter would be major "loppage"
Wow Pam..i see you have posted again while i was 'thinking' about what to post i think your email was very polite considering the circumstances and i don't blame you for being ticked off about the extra guests. I'm sure it will all work out and if it doesn't pretend to be a "Lancashire Lass" and put them straight
Colleen and Painterwoman..congrats on the 10lbs weightloss
Em..it was my turn not to be able to post today..i tried for about 30 mins this morning but i could'nt get into 3fc i could get into other sites tho'
We're just over a week away from leaving for England and guess what happened last night? a guy rang up for my hubby and asked him if he wants to go to Florida to do some work and he actually wants to go!! he does'nt care for England anyway but i thought he would have wanted to surprise his Mother with a visit (which was the plan) but he told me today that he would rather go to Florida I am so i can't begin to tell you..i have been to the place he is going to and its nothing to brag about but because its hot and England is'nt he would rather go there..i said to him "but the tix are paid for" and he just said "i'll join you in England later" so at the moment i don't know if he's coming with me or not its still a waste of a lot of $$$$
I've not been to Florida, but I'd definately take England....
Do you think a personal showing of SHIRLEY VALENTINE would a) persuade DH to go with you? b) make you excited to go on a vacation on your own?
Cathy -- now that would have me foaming at the mouth with anger especially because you paid for everything already. Can you threaten to tell his mom??! Many areas of Florida are wicked hot right now too. I hope this guy is offering to pay his expenses in addition to some very good $$$ because he's going to be in the doghouse for awhile. Maybe he'll change his mind -- I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
And, Pam, hope it all results in a beautiful shower for Janet .
Chris said he and a bunch of friends want to drive to Canada (he thinks it's only a few hours away -- try about 7 and that's just to the border) -- nice try we said.
Morning to the rest of the gang -- I'll be back later. Down a half pound this week which is good considering I ate out 4 times this week. Maybe more because I am bloated -- I tell ya, I get more attractive by the minute .
Been awake all night mulling things over in my head so i went to the mailbox at 5.30am to see if my tix have arrived and they still are'nt there! that would be the icing on the cake if it turns out that that website is a scam too!!
Painterwoman.. (a) i would'nt be able to get him to sit through a showing of Shirley Valentine if it is'nt CNN or some type of news show then he won't watch it (b) i went to England for 7 weeks on my own in 2001 and had a ball so neither of those would work
Terry..that guy was supposed to ring hubby back if he wants him to go but he has'nt done yet and i'm keeping my fingers that he does'nt too I'm definitely going to tell his Mum what he was/is planning to do because the last time i was there she annoyed me by commenting on how much i was spending
just because i'd bought some new clothes and shoes..so i'll tell her just how many $$$ her son was/is going to throw away then i'll go shopping Congratulations on losing another .5lb
Thanks again to all of you for listening to me whine and vent yesterday. I'm just glad that it is semi dealt with and we can just carry on.
I weighed in this morning to a pleasant surprise of having lost another 1.5 lbs. The scale said 145.6 this morning and I just about fell over. I did eat very light yesterday so perhaps it's a bit of a misleading weight but for my weight to even dip that low is a triumph. I started phase II of SBD 3 weeks ago and have lost 4 pounds so thank you Terry for talking about that.
Cat, I don't blame you for being steamed at hubby. I'd be in tears right now from being so angry. I really hope it all works out for you and he goes.
I'll pop back in later to catch up with you all. I start holidays today at 4:00 p.m. so I'll have more time to keep up with you gals next week.
Glad it seemed to have worked out for you Pam- I do agree it was rude on her part though...isn't *her* party!! And WTG on the loss!! What are you doing for your holidays? Is Erwin off too? Staying close to home?
Cat- I can't believe your DH would choose FLA over England!! Really just blows me away- esp. to work????LOL Hoping it works out for you!! What did you decide to do with your hair btw??
Meg- no cake- wow. Good job! I'm going out with girlfriends tonight (our dinner group I've posted about before...) Tonight instead of cooking we are going out for chinese and doing karaoke! LOL I don't know if I have the nerve...we'll see. I've actually been eating pretty light today so I can enjoy myself. Canadian chinese is light on the veggies- at least around here and heavy on the batter and fried stuff...hope there will be some decent choices!
Welcome back PainterWoman- good to see you. I'm Emily- mom to 3 boys. I took a hiatus pretty much my whole last pregnancy...not sure if you posted before that or during. Awesome with that first 10!! I'm sad to say I've added a couple more 10s to lose, but I'm working on it!!
Well, I hope you have a great weekend everyone. The memorial service for those boys that went missing in Russia is tomorrow. I don't think I'm going to go- don't have a sitter and yuck, I really don't want to go Is that bad? But tonight should be fun- I'm trying to get some house-stuff done today so I can relax and enjoy the weekend more.
Emily - hope you had fun singing with your dinner group!
Pam - great job on your loss on South Beach! Keep at it. What is your goal weight? I almost fell off my chair reading your current weight - That is my GOAL weight!!! That is how much I weighed when I met my husband.
Worked again today, and I do again tomorrow. I have to keep remembering to put my food in Fitday. I know I have lost 1 pound this week. I don't want to get on the scale - too afraid it is water weight.
Dan is in a good mood - he has been potty training the cats (yes, you read that correctly) for months, and they are in their final stage. Once cat just didn't seem to understand the concept, while the other did it just fine. Well, now they both seem on top of it. Dan is BEAMING!
So far no phone call and i don't think there is going to be one yesterday i went shopping to get hubby some new jeans because HE can't fit in any of his 32" waists anymore..he-he..but i got the length a little too long so we had to go back and change them and he got some extra 'holiday' clothes too looks like he will be coming along but i'm still fuming that he would even consider ditching me to go work!
Pam you are below your goal weight now are'nt you? Well Done Enjoy your hols!!
Em..i have'nt had my hair cut yet i've been spending hours online trying to find a pic of what i want and then i thought why not let Jacqui do it when i get home she is a qualified hairdresser!! how could i forget that? i am tempted to have it layered tho' i want it to look different not just like i've had a haircut
Yesterday was our 6th anniversary so we celebrated by heading out to Klondike Days. It was so much fun. They had a Super Dogs exhibition that was just a riot. I was clapping and cheering like all the adorable little kids in the audience. I am such a dog lover, it's almost embarassing Then Erwin and I strolled around the grounds and I saw the Roller Coaster ride that they had and I shocked the day lights out of him when I said I was ready to tackle it this year. I have never, ever, ever expressed a desire to do such a ride but I know he loves them so I got brave and it was so much fun. I squealed and screamed just like the little 10 year old behind us who kept sayinig "Oh God, Oh God when is it going to end?" He was so cute. I told him I thought he was very brave and when he said it was his first time I told him I was almost 30 and had just gotten brave enough to try it so he perked right up. Too cute.
Today is house cleaning day around here and the next few days I'm going to do my best to get our back room cleaned out, wallpaper stripped, sand it and paint it to turn it into a small study/relaxation room. It's the room that has our patio doors and is full of natural sunlight so we thought we'd put our favourite chairs in there and have a nice place to curl up with a book and read to our hearts are content. We'll see how it turns out. I need to go to Home Depot and find a golden yellow colour to match some flowers in the border I'd picked out eons ago.
Emily, we are sticking close to home for holidays. With Janet's upcoming wedding I've only taken a few days here and there so that I can take a few extra days off then so it's just not enough time to go anywhere this year. I hope you had an awesome night with the girls. Were you brave enough to Karoke?
Cat, glad things turned out so well with DH. I don't blame you for still being steamed. I hope he is appropriately apologetic
Meigg, you sound as though you are back on track. I loved your story of Dan and the cats. I think that is so terrific. Hope your shifts went well this weekend and great job passing up two kinds of cake. You are my hero! I am not that strong yet.
Terry, Dahlia, Painter, Colleen and all you other gals, have a wonderful day and I'll check back later.
Pam i was going to suggest Yellow for your study..it will look lovely..the bedroom i did downstairs just glows when the sun streams through the windows you'll love it.
You are getting brave! I would NEVER go on a Roller Coaster my hubby is like a big kid around them too. Erwin must be thinking "who is this woman?" Congratulations on your Anniversary.
Hubby is'nt apologetic at all! In fact he does'nt understand what my problem is with him going to Florida..and i know for a fact that if that guy does ring..even if its the day before we are due to leave..that he would choose Florida. I'm pretty sure that he was labotomised at birth
We went to a party last night..a last minute thing..no advance warning from hubby so i could get ready just "do you want to go to a party?" i replied "when?" he said "now..tonight"
so it was a quick shower and off we went..there was a band on and they were OK but they sang the blues and i'm not a huge fan so i was glad when the woman sat next to me said "i can't tell a word that she's singing it just sounds like to me! and it did...but we had a good time.
Hi all--pretty unevenful weekend around here...now it looks like it's getting ready to storm...AGAIN.
Haven't been too diligent with the eating over the weekend....but oh well, I guess. Did go to yoga yesterday...it's called Fitness Yoga, and hoooooweeeee does it make me sweat.
After yoga, I had the first of my two little weight related thrills for the weekend....someone else in the class said to me "you're really slimming down!". I coulda kissed her.
My other little thrill came while shopping at Lane Bryant today. I grabbed a skirt in my usual ginormous size, and discovered it was WAY the heck too big. So I bought the slightly less ginormous size. Yay me! But here's something interesting I noted while in the fitting room....sometimes, wearing something a little more form fitting actually makes me look smaller! My tendency is to wear stuff as big as I can, but when I put on the smaller size, I looked thinner than when stuff was all baggy.
Go figure.
Weight loss question for the veterans---do you seem to have a week or two a month when the loss takes place, then the rest of the month, it's stall city? That seems to be my pattern. From the time my period starts, for about two weeks, I lose. Then, till it starts again, NOTHIN'. I seem to remember this being a pattern when I was low carbing about 5 years ago. It is both reassuring and frustrating!
Cathy I giggled with the blah blah comment. I'm glad you wound up having a good time and thanks for the confirmation that yellow is a great colour. I wasn't sure but now I'm just going to go for it! What day is it that you leave for England? I'm gonna miss you.
Colleen, I know for myself that I usually have a huge loss the week after TOM and then it's just piddle diddlin the rest of the month but that's okay by me. A maintain or a small loss is a victory in itself. I'm almost at the end of my journey and this is the longest I've ever maintained a loss. I had lost 25 lbs. about 4 years ago and promptly gained it all back within a year. This time I've been holding at 150 ish since Christmas so I'm just pleased as punch that it's taking hold as a lifetime committment.
Holy, your yoga class sounds killer. I am the least flexible person I know so I am too chickent to try lest I get down there and getcontorted and get stuck Imagine that pretty little picture when they send in the paramedics. "Well sir, I was trying the downward dog and got stuck" LOL. Oh ya....
Colleen - you are right about stalling. It happens when you low carb - and I think when you do other diets as well. your body is catching up (as i recall), and then out of no where you lose weight - they call it the "whoosh fairy" coming. It has happened to me, where I lose nothing for several weeks, and then, 'whoosh" I lose 3 pounds in one week.
Off to Costco to by staples. All is going well with the diet!
