WElcome back Meg,
Sorry you had such a rough time.. but am glad you quit your job and stood up for yourself....we have to be true to ourselves.. as for gaining... well,, you'll lose it...just be patient with yourself...
Nothing happening here, went to dgd's 3 happy birthday party yesterday,, oy vay.... is all I am going to say.... someone needs to get my dil a book on social ettiquette.. but it ain't going to be me... IT is so sad to see just plain simple politeness going out the window... just hope son gets a tougher backbone soon.
Trying to do some work in the office this morning, then back to vegging in recliner...weather has been cool. This summer sucks.
Cathy, how exciting to be going to England..I know what you mean about wishing for 20 pounds to be gone overnight... but sometimes the more I think about it,, and give myself a deadline to lose,, I never make it... it's like to much pressure... I am at a standstill and for right now, I don't even care..
Good morning! Wow, am I tired! It is funny, when I am working I get only 8 hours, and I am fine. When I am not, I get like 12 hours of sleep and am still tired!
Today I am going to start Atkins again. I also want to get some form of exercise in - like a walk with Dan. He got up early, and is now sleeping on the couch (what a pair we make) .
Dahlia - didn't I read you were coming to Chicago? If so, when? I would love to meet up for a drink if you have time. Sorry to hear about the lack of politeness from you DIL. Some people just don't get it.
Hi Meg..glad to have you back with us sorry the job did'nt work out for you but i'm sure you'll find something else and it'll be much better too.
Dahlia..how's your back? you sound better today i think thats my problem you know..when i make a goal its like my brain (or stomach) has other ideas and sabotages my plans if i don't say i'm aiming to lose X amount of pounds by such a date then i just get on with it! Maybe i should just keep my big mouth shut
The weather has changed this weekend and we are getting some much needed showers..i have never seen it so dry around here at this time of year it did'nt rain at all during June..the grass is brown it'll give me chance to get some housework done before the sun comes back tomorrow.
Finally not so hot today!! Only 80 instead of 95! Felt so nice...I was up coughing from 4-6:30 this morning so I'm a bit tired tonight On my way to bed pronto!
Had guests for dinner today- grilled chicken and made a potato salad and that one spinach salad w/ the poppy seed dressing. It all turned out really well- which is a plus when you are feeding company!!
I am heading to Montana on Tuesday for the week to see a couple of my sisters w/ their 2 boys each. 7 boys!!! It will be crazy, but oh so fun.
Meg! Welcome back- glad to see you posting again. Sorry your job didn't work out, but you did the right thing. So are you back at your place in Chicago? I wasn't clear on that. Just take one thing at a time and everything will eventuallly fall into place.
Hi to Dahlia, Terry, Cat, Carol - wonder where Pam and GrandmaG have been?
Have a good night!
Emily
Emily your dinner sounds scrumptious... 7 boys.. heck that isn't anything.. when me and two of my sisters got together between us we had 15 boys... yup.. we all 3 had 5 boys apiece..
Meg, I'd love to meet you for a drink.. but dh will be with and we are visiting our son in Chicago, our first time seeing his place, then on day 2 we are going to the Ball field trials..day 3 we are heading home... what part of Chicago do you live in? We will be near the lake and then in Napierville...
WEll, got to go get dressed and start my day... enough lying around.. going to get moving again...have things I need and want to do...
have a good day all... also starting back on track today...
Dahlia- 5 boys each?!?!? Wow, no girls in the mix either? Well, I don't think any of us will get to 5, but I can definitely see all boys at the rate we are going! With this group of 7, Brendan is the oldest at (barely) 5.
I should be working to get ready to go, but Ian is awake for now so I'll wait until he goes down to get busy. Doiing laundry and have to go out to the stores to put my coupons up (my 'lil PT job...) think I'll leave when Ian first wakes up between 6-7 to get an early start.
I'll check in from there.
Yes, Emily,,, my olderest sister finally had a girl...actually she lost a girl, but got pregnant again and had one.. and my other sister adopted a girl from India.... I am the only one who only has the 5 boys..we couldn't afford to adopt one and after our fifth son had problems at birth, we didn't feel like pushing our luck to have any more... and now that they are grown, I am glad we didn't have anymore,, but it would have been nice to have a daughter...I am still waiting to see how the rest of my dil's will be... but I do have my sweet little granddaughter.. and we are very close, just hope we can stay that way.
Cleaned this morning, resting now doing phone calls and computer work..trying to sort out some insurance problems.. I swear it must be a prerequisite that you have to be stupid to work for an insurance company.. hope no one here does... but how many times does one need to fill out forms and give the same information before it is tended to.?
I've just booked my holiday so i'll be leaving you in a couple of weeks to spend 6+ weeks at home they'll just have to like me as i am because its too late to do anything now can't wait to get there but not looking forward to the flight..what a drag we are going via Glasgow (its always via somewhere) and i've just looked at the itinerary and its 11hrs plus the flight off of the island so we'll be kissing a day away...not to mention landing "tomorrow" good job i don't get jet lag
Hubby is laughing because with a couple of clicks of a mouse i managed to spend over $2000 and on the reservation it says thank you for choosing to book online and tell a friend how easy it was now i have to organise transport off of the island.
I sometimes wished i lived on the mainland then it would be easier to get to Vancouver Airport
Where is Ms T? if she does'nt get back here soon i'll be sending her a postcard
Hey, Meg, welcome back! I have missed you. I am very sorry to hear that things didn't work out for you, but be proud of yourself for doing what you felt was right. Everything always works out for the best, just have patience and try not to be too hard on yourself -- everything comes with a silver lining if we look close enough and that's what you need to concentrate on, not the negative. And the weight, you lost it before, you'll lose it again. Again, it's good to have you back .
Morning Cathy, Emily, Carol, and Dahlia! By the way, I did get an email from Pam, and all is well in her world, just extremely busy.
Sorry I didn't get around to posting yesterday but because we didn't get back from New Hampshire until late Sunday, I had so much to catch up with on Monday.
We had a wonderful visit with Katie and we stayed at a gorgeous, country inn that was very romantic -- candles, canopied bed, huge bathroom with a shower and a full size jacuzzi, fireplace (OK, it was July so we didn't test it out!) -- one night was way too short.
Not good with the diet though but today's a new day and I am back in business again.
Cathy, six weeks in England!! How exciting and I am going to miss you big time -- you have to send me postcards so I can keep up!
Dahlia, I hope you are feeling better -- did you ever get to the doctor?
Emily, enjoy your visit!
In a rush right now but I will be back later -- after the gang leaves and I have time for myself. Russ is talking to me as I write -- doesn't he know yet that he is not the priority when I am chatting with my cyber friends??!!!
Have a good and safe trip... 6 weeks,wow... it'll seem like a lifetime... will you be able to check in with us..? we'll miss you but enjoy yourself....and take care..
To the rest of you,, good morning...am doing better... and no I never saw a doctor..thank goodness it began to feel better just by doing what I was told before...this is a chronic problem and will continue to act up until something is done surgically,I am just not ready for that yet...as long as the routine works and the shots are available if I need them and still work, I will use them...
Taking my dgd out to lunch today and meeting two of my sisters.. in fact the ones with the boys... but today we are all bringing some of our grandkids....also my niece is joining us.. the only girl between all the 15 boys,, not counting the adopted one... with her little girl... haven't seen her in years, will be nice to catch up...
It is suppose to rain here, it is so muggy the keys on my keyboard are sticking...along with my legs to the leather chair...
ok well going to go get my shower and have a smoothie... will talk to ya all later...
Dahlia - I live in Roscoe Village - about 2 miles away from Wrigley Field.
Terry - sounds like that country inn was fabulous. I am jealous!
Cathy - 6 weeks of vacation - ah, the life! I really hope you enjoy yourself! When do you leave? How will the weather be? Any special plans - or sights you will see?
Thanks to all of you for the kind words. I am trying to get some things going - waitressing, etc. I am applying to substitute teach in the fall. My diet - not exactly back on track yet, but I am going to the store today - that should help!
Terry, glad that you enjoyed the day in New Hampshire the Inn you stayed at is my cup of tea you know how (we) enjoy the finer things in life I'm glad that you put Russ in his place or was it a private thought? I'll make sure i send you postcards!
Meg..no doubt the weather will be it is England after all but i'm not bothered about that..my first priority is to see my son and daughter and meet that little grand-daughter of mine i am planning to travel and see some places too. I want to go to Bath
hubby said that its neat..its a City with incredible architecture..i also want to check out Scotland as well..another place i've never been to.
Dahlia..enjoy lunch with your family..it sounds nice
Cathy, I lived in London for 6 months in 1990 (senior year of college). It was FABULOUS! I visited Bath, and spent a weekend in Scotland. We took the train to Edinborough (sp?) and then rented a car and followed a map, making up our trip as we went along. We visited ruins of castles, and stayed in a B&B on Loch Ness - one of the finest places I have ever been. I also hit Amsterdam, Paris and Russia. I wish I could do it again - enjoy it!
Well, my dad just came down to help with our apt building. Someone hit our fence, and we had to replace a few slats. It is like 1000 degrees outside with 1,000,000% humidity !
Now I am going to call my girlfriend about going for a walk. I spent most of the morning online investigating substitute teaching in the Chicago Public Schools. I printed out alot, now I need to fill out the paper work.
Wow Meg..it sounds like you had a ball in 1990 Good Luck with the paperwork I feel like packing already i just got my confirmation paperwork to sign and fax back was'nt expecting that..i thought it was a done deal we don't use a fax so that means a trip to the mall.
It is AMAZING what one phone call can do to your outlook. I went walking with my girlfriend and her baby, and when we finished I got a phone call from the restaurant I am going to work at. I have 4 shifts thru the end of the week!!!!! He also said I could work 5 days a work at least. That made Dan and my day! It is great, because now I feel like I am contributing again financially.
Went shopping for khacki's (uniform), and I am pleased to report I am a SOLID 14 (last year I was a 1X)!!!! Then I went to the store to buy GOOD food.
