Hey girls...Just so you know, I've been reading all your posts, just not had the time to post my own. My life has been so hectic lately. And school hasn't even started yet!! My classes start next Monday. I've had to get babysitters squared away and then we've finally decided to put my daughter in to a private school. The public schools have really let us down. However, this is a brand new school and we don't even have teachers yet! I am on the committee so I've been really busy trying to get this thing up and running. All in all, I know we've made the right decision for Whitney.
Okay, now as for weight...I seemed to plateau right around the 20 pound mark, but I've now lost 24 pounds. That's 12 pounds a month! I really feel a difference and people have started to notice and I can wear jeans that I couldn't wear before!
Hey Newie...thank goodness the province of quebec was not affected by the power outage....we are on a different grid...hydro quebec takes care of us...one thing quebecers have is lots and lots of hydro power....actually we sell a lot of our power to the states.
Anyway...sounds like you will be having a very busy weekend...I think I will wash my car tonight after work...and tomorrow morning I have to take my furbabies...Cyan and Molly to the Vet for their annual checkup....and then....I have to clean the top floor of my house...the carpets need a good vacuuming...ugh ...it never finishes here too And its been very hot and humid ...with highes in the 30's celcius.
Well I best get going with all this work...have a great weekend ladies...talk to you later
Anyone have any trouble with the Blaster worm thing going around?? I did! Our computer was infected last Thursday but I was able to download the fix and the patch to prevent it from reoccurring. Updated my firewalls and anti-virus software, etc. Several people around here had problems. None too serious tho, thank goodness.
I cleaned house all day today...the extra yucky stuff I rarely do like cleaning out cabinets, scrubbing them down, cleaning out the refrigerator, etc. I havent walked since Thursday. My sis is out of town for the weekend. Gotta go last minute shopping tomorrow with the kids...school starts Monday.
Newie, weather here is still hot and humid too. I just hate it! I hope you enjoy the bday party and movie tomorrow. I love movies with Kevin Costner.
Cyan, glad to hear you werent affected by the blackout. It's way too hot for no A/C! Did Cyan and Molly get good reports at the Vet?
Lisa 12 lbs a month is Unbelievable!! I bet you feel great! Dont you just love fitting back into those old clothes?
Taiwan, my boys are total opposites also. One sports finatic, one computer/electronic whiz.....Josh,13 loves the outdoors...Luke,11 would rather stay inside. Josh has always been quiet and calm and has no problem with school work...Luke is rowdy and despises homework dragging it out for hours. Oh, will you have access to a computer when you come to the states? How long will you be here?? That's really soon now isnt it?
Well, guess I better go. Luke is hungry and about to mess up my nice clean kitchen. I better go supervise.
Everyone, have a nice weekend..what's left of it anyway.
Hi, everyone! Well, my weekend turned out very different than I had planned it to be. Yesterday hubby and I were very busy--we're buying a new bed, and we went to this one furniture store we like. We found a mattress set we like, but we need to match our furniture to a new headboard--in a couple of weeks we'll go back with one of our small drawers to try to match style and finish. We're also going to be installing laminate flooring in our upstairs in late September--the final step in a 3-year remodeling project! The same furniture store also does floors, so we will have them do our floor. We really wanted installers who would service the floor if we had trouble later on, and this company is very good this way--it's so hard to find a business you can trust with follow-up service. I also spent some time with hubby at a doctor visit for a test concerning his eyes. Doc suspects he might have early stages of glaucoma--no symptoms but optic nerve damage is present. All tests have come up inconclusive so far, except for the nerve damage. There is one more test that needs to be done to rule out or confirm one more possibility. That will happen in 4 weeks. We've not told anyone in our family yet, till we have more information. Doctor said if he does have it, it's very early and can be watched/treated to prevent/control damage to his vision, though there is no cure for the disease. Hubby's aunt has the disease--she's around 80 and is pretty much blind. I'll let you know what we find out.
Today we neither went to the birthday party or to the movie. There has been some fighting between the girls (what else is new?) when they go to visit Grandma (hubby's mom), and the only information we have been able to get is what the girls tell me. On hubby's suggestion we went to see Grandma to talk about the situation (one of the girls was very upset about how Grandma was handling it), and it just didn't turn out well at all. I won't go into it, but mother-in-law said some very hurtful things to me out of the blue which I didn't deserve, and which were not true. I just couldn't figure out why she said what she did. I got very upset and left. She apologized to me today, but we just didn't feel like going to a family gathering where she was going to be. I preferred to clean house (helps me work through things), so we will be going to the movie next week. I'll need it too, since I've been asked to work Saturday, the 23rd, at one of our stores that's short staffed. I've never worked there before, and have only been there once. It should be pretty interesting. I'll be pooped out after a 6 day work week, so a movie date will be great.
On to better things--I've finally lost another pound--down to 163. I've lost 1/2 inch off my waist too--a special victory because that's where I carry most of my fat. Also, last night we went out for a late dinner after things with Grandma died down, and I DIDN'T EAT ALL MY FOOD!!!!! I felt full and left half of my soup and most of the lettuce from my lemon pepper chicken salad. That's totally amazing for me. I have always been a clean plate girl. I've pretty much given up on the morning walk till school starts--that's a week from tomorrow, the 25th. Then I can go back to my old routine of drop-off, go to the park, walk, and head for work. Believe me, I am walking plenty at work.
I only have a few more things to buy for the girls for school--pencils, glue stick, a book bag for Veronica, a polo shirt for Kathleen (they go to Catholic school and wear uniforms, but even the public schools here require uniforms--prevents gang insignia on clothing). I get things a little here and there gradually. This Tuesday I have to pay book fees for the girls, and Thursday I am signing them up for dance class. Between all this, the 6 day week, bingo duty on Wednesday, and Veronica's flute lesson also on Tuesday, it's going to be a hectic week. I'm sleeping better though, because I've been very serious about keeping cat out of our bed. Last night I only had to put Nikki out twice to her bed on the floor. It started out at about 6 times, so I am making progress.
Well, I've babbled on quite enough. Talk to you all later. P.S. No trouble with the computer worm, though I did hear about it on the news.

Its Monday ...again! Strange but it seems like there are only two days in the week for me lately...monday and friday...monday makes me feel crappy and friday..all happy...the other days all melt into one...does anybody else feel that way?
Hey Miki..the kitties are in good health...except Cyan was very agressive with the doctor...he was growling, hissing and spitting...it was very strange to see him like that..normally he is very lovely and gentle....Molly on the other hand was very timid and curled up ...poor little girl. Anyway, they are home and its all fine.
Well other than the vet visit, not much else to report..I didnt weigh myself since its that time of the month and I feel like it would not be in my best interest morale wise to weigh myself...I will do that after its finished.
Anyway, gotta get back to work so I will chat with you guys later
Hey Ladies,
I hope all is well with all of you……Sorry I haven’t been around, it has been crunch time for the past couple of weeks. This weekend is what I have been working so hard for. We coordinated a 36-hour Radiothon with one of the most popular radio stations for Children’s Memorial Hospital. We raised $1.3 Million this weekend and now I have to catch up on my sleep…..
I am totally wiped out.
I have a big confession to make though!!!
I have been so afraid to jump back aboard this weightloss train, because I do admit I have been sooooooo bad lately. I won’t get on a scale but I am sure I have gained at least 6lbs….
I am thinking of trying the Zone diet for a month and see how I feel. I am going to look at a few and see how it goes. I need something to get me back on track. I was doing so well in the beginning of the year and then it went downhill after vacation and the move and the new job!
I hope all is well, if someone can give me a recap of whats been happening? Has Lady or Debee been around?
Lisa, Congrats on the 12lbs per month. What are you doing??? Maybe I should try that one…..
Cyan, we have so much to catch up on. Hopefully one day we can get only MSN and chat!!!!
I miss you all very much and I hope to get back OP really soon.
Well, Reina thanks for the Congrats. I'm doing Adkins. I started on June 9 and have lost about 25 pounds. YIPEE!!
Today was my first day back to nursing school. It was fine and everything but the BEST thing was that everyone noticed my weight loss! They were all telling me how great I looked. It was AWESOME!!!
I wanted to post BEFORE I got started on homework and stuff, so that later I wouldn't feel overwhelmed and too busy.
I will try to post more often this semester than last semester!
Hi, everybody! Not much to report today except BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! There's something extra to take care of either before or after work each and every day. I'll keep in touch the best I can. I'll be sure to read the posts. This morning's were very enjoyable. Bye for now
Ok,
I did it, I got on the scale even though I was totally convinced that I gained back about 6-7lbs....
well, my mind must be playing tricks on me, I am 1lb over my last weigh in, I am at 191.2
So, I started counting points again. I was seriously considering the Atkins thing, but I just can't give up all my carbs and and stuff. So I will just stick to my WW. It worked in the past, so I just have to get back on track. I am trying to get my life together now, and try to have an ordinary life again, so I am hoping that will take precedence again????
Hey Reina good to hear that you didnt gain all the weight you were so worried about...so I guess its back to the plan of losing more weight
Looks like everyone is busy with daily life...same here...the weeks go by rather quickly which suits me fine...its already wednesday! pretty soon it will be friday...and already my weekend is booked.
I havent weighed in yet..its my time of the month so Iwill wait.
Reina, welcome back! I've really missed you! I'm impressed with your one lb gain...that shows that even with all the extra stress with the robbery, etc. you still didnt go overboard with your eating. You'll lose that in no time. Way to go! We still havent heard from LadyRider. I'm really worried about her. Debee did check in...she's just really busy remodeling their lake house. Great job on the Radioathon...1.3 million is awesome!
Cyan, glad to hear your babies are doing well. I know what you mean about the Mondays and Fridays. Isnt it sad how we live for the weekends??
Lisa, thanks for putting us high on your priority list and coming here first before studying. I know it's hard to fit us in with such a busy schedule. Congrats on all the compliments at school. Made it all worthwhile huh? I bet all your friends were amazed to see such a difference in the short time you've been out of school!
Newie, sorry your weekend didnt turn out the way you had planned. Hopefully you can make up for it this weekend. Even tho you havent been able to get out and walk as much as you'd like lately, you're evidently getting exercise at work with a loss in weight AND inches. That's great!
Cyan, I'm up to your challenge of posting measurements again if everyone else is. We might be surprised at the difference since it's been so long. When did we do that last?
Guess I better get off here and start getting everyone headed to bed. Bye for now...
Hi, everyone! I'm alive! Eight bingo nights down, and one more to go!!! It's been wild at the bingo hall these last two months, since a new group of parents took over management of our school's bingo program. It's my first stint as an operator, and I think everything that could have gone wrong has. One week we had no caller, another no cashier, two weeks no security person (we just do those things ourselves then), several times we had missing workers (parents from school are required to commit to work a bingo night per child in the school, and sometimes they don't show), and last night the caller was not only late, but he dropped the balls of the previously called numbers back into the machine in the middle of the big jackpot game!!! We also ran out of ice for drinks, and naturally it was a 90 degree day yesterday. And the old ladies who come every week to play really get feisty about anything that doesn't go just right. Anyway, it's really kind of funny when you look back at it, though at the moment of a crisis, everyone looks at me to solve it, and I'm just as new as everyone else. Anyway, at least I can laugh about it. It really is circus-like at times.
Last night I ate some regular carb pasta and a piece of cheesecake for dinner at bingo. I really had a craving for the cake, so I figured I'd just get it over with rather than say no and then eat a bunch of other stuff instead. The whole high carb meal didn't make me feel as good as I normally feel--swollen fingers and sluggish today. I'll drink lots of water and get back on to my usual routine, and I'll be better in no time.
You're right, Miki, I am getting plenty of exercise at work. I basically am on my feet going from about 9:00 to 4 or 5. I do take about 15 minutes for lunch about 1:30-2:00. There's lots of walking, lifting of stock, bending for bags, and anything else you can think of to keep a store running. And it all goes at a very fast pace. I know my weekend will be better this weekend. On Saturday, as I may have mentioned, I am working at one of our stores where I've never worked before, and Sunday, hubby and I are going to see "Open Range" for sure--I told him I'll probably collapse into the movie seat. He's being very understanding and cooperative about the insanity of this week, which really helps me get through it. I will say that I am looking forward to walking Monday morning after I drop my girls off to school. I've missed it so much the last couple of weeks.
Cyan, I'd be up for posting weight and measurements. I've found out by recording them on the Atkins web site, it helps keep me motivated, and I am able to see my progress.
Reina mia--that's great that only one pound came back during the hectic time you've just been through. Sometimes I think we think we are doing worse than we actually are. It's good to get a positive reinforcement like that. Also, congrats on your radiothon success. I've had both my girls at Children's Memorial Hospital for different things over the years--younger one at opthamology for blocked tear duct surgery, and older one presently in allergy/asthma for her allergy situation. They are absolutely wonderful there--both with the kids and with the parents.
Lisa--wonderful for you on the compliments on your weight loss!!Doesn't that feel good? I don't know if mine shows yet. No one who doesn't know I am working on it has said anything yet, but I know that one of these days they will notice.
Girls--this is so cool, and I have to share this weight loss fact of mine. One of the most noticeable things about my bustline inch loss is that I can now fold my arms in front of me. I couldn't really do it well a few weeks ago, and it bugged me. Weird how that extra weight changes your life, isn't it?
Well, got to go--have to get to work and clean before we open. Bye for now.
Miki sounds like its time to post our measurements and weight ...yikes!!!
I will measure myself this sunday...so I guess the official measurement and weigh in will be this sunday...I will try to find my old measurements from last october...
Just a quick post....yesterday was hubby's bday and tonite his mom cooked for us....fried fish, french fries, lemon icebox pie...needless to say my eating hasnt been the greatest today. It was fine til that meal. Sis and I walked 3 miles this morning before work. We've done that every day this week so far.
I'm going to try to do extra well from now til Sunday.:lol (since that's the dreaded measurement and weigh-in day.) It's going to be hard to do that because Saturday nite Josh and my niece, Brook are having a back-to-school get together for all my friends at our house. Houseful of teens means a houseful of snacks.
Oh, guess what I got Phil for his bday....a 30 min professional massage! He was surprised I think. I wanted to get something different, not the same ole shirt or jeans or whatever. I'm thinking I should have gotten us BOTH one. Maybe he'll decide to return the favor sometime.
Its Friiiiiiiiidaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy I cant get over how it rolls around before I know it...just the other day I was comlaining about it being Monday.
Miki...great gift...looks like you are thinking outside the box....too bad you had the lemon icebox pie...but hey...its your hubby's bday and you walked 3 miles!!! woooooohoooo
Well as usual...I gotta get started with work but I wish everyone a great weekend and dont forget to post your measurements and weight on Sunday!!!!!!!
