Hello all! Deanna, sounds like you're party was great. I would love to see pix. My e-mail is [email protected]
Cyan, you're right about keeping your body in the best possible shape. As we get older our bodies turn on us. If we don't keep it in check...well...it's not pretty
Miki, I was shocked by all the problems you had with your period growing up. I had one after I stopped breastfeeding my daughter that lasted 4 weeks and so they finally did a D&C. I can't imagine having that most of my life!
Newie...good for you for walking. It does feel good. I use my time on the treadmill and doing weights to just let all my cares go out the window. It is a great stress relief!
I must have missed the message about where Reina went. Where did she go???
I miss Lady. I hope she comes back soon. Maybe I will e-mail her and see what's up!
I've been doing well. Keeping busy....not that keeping busy is hard for me lately. I'm still going to the YMCA every morning. I'm also still doing Adkins. I stopped weighing everyday because any fluctuation stressed me out...so once a week now. Last I checked I was still at about a 9 pound weightloss.
This week has gone by too fast....just the other day it was monday and now...its thursday!
I cycled last night for 30 minutes...8.8km on the bike...a good workout.
I also ate within my limits...except I had cheese puffs about a handful of them...I was bored ..so I ate them.
Lisa good to hear that you are maintaining your 9 pounds lost thus far...keep going! I know what you mean about the obsessive weighing...at one point I was jumping on the scale at least twice per day....so for me, it was not good to see the daily fluctuations.
Well as usual, at work, so have a great day everyone and stay OP
Busy week for me too. My cousin Vicki, who also happens to be my best friend, came in this week from California. She just moved there in October. Until then we have always lived within 5 miles of each other. Needless to say, we've had lots of catching up to do. Her new boyfriend came with her, and last nite he cooked for all of us...chicken stir fry and homemade shrimp fried rice. I made lemon icebox pie for dessert.
A co-worker of mine, Cathy, is moving to LasVegas so today we had her going away party. Lots of food of course. I made chicken enchiladas for that. This week hasnt been my best foodwise.
We have a big family reunion this Saturday so that means MORE food! Still exercising but after the reunion, I'm planning on getting back into a much stricter eating plan. Losing the first 40 lbs just seemed to happen but I cant seem to get anymore of them to budge. I know muscle weighs more than fat but regardless of that, I need to lose 40 more to be at a healthy weight.
Deana, do you homeschool all year round?? You amaze me with all you deal with. I'm thinking of nicknaming you Job...lol There's no way I have enough patience for homeschooling. Glad ya'll had a nice party. I'd love to see pics! My email is [email protected] or [email protected].
Lisa, that stinkin scale does me the same way...if it's down, I'm in a great mood..if it's up even half a lb, I'm disappointed or mad. I still cant seem to make myself quit looking at it tho.
I am one hot woman...I am one hot woman...I am one hot woman...Ok Cyan, I'm repeating it....if only I could convince myself.
Tomorrow is Friday..HOORAYYYYYYYY!! Oh wow, and I just realized that this Sunday is my anniversary. (19yrs ) I think we're just going to have Vicki and her b/friend over to play cards or something tho since she's only here til Tues and wont be back until next summer.
Hi, everyone! Sorry I missed you yesterday. I had a long, busy day rearranging displays in the store, and I was bushed! I think the two previous days also contributed to it as well. I've been driving my older girl Veronica to flute lessons after work on Tuesdays for almost a year now, so I'm used to Tuesday being a really long day, but this week we started a four-week summer dance program for both Veronica and my younger girl Kathleen in the evening on Mondays. Each drive is about 30 minutes each way, plus the time waiting for the lesson, so that adds about 1 1/2-2 hours to my day. It usually takes me a few weeks to get used to a new evening activity so my body can adjust. So when you take two nights out plus a busy day yesterday, that adds up to big fatigue. I didn't even walk this morning, which turned out not to be a good thing. Nothing bad happened to me moodwise, but I could tell that for the first hour of work, my head just wasn't as clear as I wanted it to be. My body really likes that exercise!!
I've also been doing a bit of extra housework this week too because Veronica is going to have 5 of her girlfriends over on Saturday evening for a little girl party, and I am trying to get the place straightened up. Kathleen was invited to a sleepover the same night, and Dad is going to dinner and a movie on his own. I think it will be fun to have a girl party in our house.
As far as my food is going, I've made some good choices and some poor ones. I'm much more vulnerable to poor choices when I am tired. I think they have been minimal this time. I am going to be sure to walk tomorrow morning; I'll keep track again of how I feel during the day after I have walked to see if there really is a difference between a morning with walking and a morning without walking. I'll report my results. Gee, sounds like a scientific experiment!!
Miki, wow--that was rough for you with your cycles--and to need a hysterectomy so young!! My basic problem with menstruation before my kids were born--at age 34 and 38--was terrible cramps on the first day--I was so thrilled when Motrin was invented! I know that the symptoms I experience now are very normal for a woman my age--my reproductive system is just winding down to a state of sleep. It can just be annoying at times. What always used to be true for me in that area keeps changing all the time. It's the unpredictability of it all that I sometimes have trouble keeping on top of. And I am aware that heavy periods can cause anemia, so all the more reason for me to live a healthy lifestyle.
Deana, how scary about Josiah's allergic reaction to the bug bite! That would really give me the creeps. I am glad the doctor was able to help the situation.
Well, I'm out of gas. I'm going to hit the sheets early tonight, and get a good walk in tomorrow morning. Bye for now.
its Friday! I love Fridays! I played badminton last night...I had my opponent, Ivano down on bended knee he was so tired from all that running around...plus he's getting over a cold. I'm telling ya ladies...badminton is one great cardio workout.
The bad news...I ate a big mac before I went to work out My father bought it so it was waiting for me when I got home from work....So I couldnt throw it out...My Dad bought it for me. Down the hatch it went..no fries thought...just the Mac.
As usual, every friday...or so it seems its Sushi Day...so i will go get some for lunch.
And this sunday...its my first hike of the season...we are head to Mont Tremblant...a mountain in the laurentians to hike down it...it usually takes 2 hours...very arduous 7.6km hike....this means that I will be in lots of pain for a few days afterwards from all the anaerobic exercising my legs will get.
Hey Miki...it must be very nice to have your best friend and cousin in town. And 40 pounds weight loss doesnt just happen...you have worked very hard at it...and and horray for you...dont forget to recognize your hard work and determination. And, as you might already be aware, the closer you get to your ideal weight, the harder it gets to lose weight..but keep at it...even if it takes a year...anyway, dont you feel better exercising and eating healthy? Your body, husband, kids, family and friends will thank you in the long run...You will just stay healthy for a very long time and be able to move around with ease....and thats huge...quality of life. So keep that in mind.
Hey Newie, I hope you get some rest this weekend...sleep will ya do you good. I hope you feel rested soon. What are your plans for the weekend?
hey Debee, Lisa, LadyRider, Taiwan, Rheina...come post soon and let us know how you are doing...big hug to you all.
Just a quick note before the next party for my son Jimmy. Yesterday it rained all day so we had to have Jakes party in the garage. I converted it into a G.I. Joe barracks and had a big cardboard red cross building, recruiting center and battle prepareness area, for party favors all the kids got helmets, water bottles, dog tags, first aid kits with fruit roll up bandaids...., my husband was the general and I was commander in chief...I got to wear a whisle all day...my new favorite piece of jewerly. Jake loved the party and had a great time! I'll try to e-mail some photos.
Jimmy party is at noon today and will be at a mini-golf arcade place.
Hi, all! Just checking in before I finish preparations for my 12-year-old daughter Veronica's "girl" party this evening. She's having 4 of her friends over today from 3 to 10 p.m.--volleyball, badminton, eating, playing music, doing crafts, giving manicures--all adolescent girl stuff on the agenda. Eight-year-old Kathleen is going to a sleepover at her friend's house, and Dad will go to church, dinner, and a movie on his own. I am the party coordinator and supervisor, though Veronica is the actual hostess. I just have to get the grass cut and finish a few things in the house. Veronica has done much of the cleaning herself, and I will have her prepare her fruit/veggie tray. We're ordering a pizza, and we'll also have some junk food--chips, cookies, etc. One of the girls is diabetic, so I bought a couple of sugar free treats for her. Anyway, it will be fun. My only stumbling block is another of those perimenopausal symptoms I deal with--migraine headaches. I get them before and/or after my period and sometimes if I ovulate. Well, it's the end of my period, and one arrived last night. I take ibuprofen every three hours and drink lots of water, eat protein, and lie down when I can, so it should be gone by late this afternoon. Getting some exercise therapy in the yard will help too. It's not going to stop my good day.
A report on walking--yesterday I did my 1 1/2 miles, went in to work, and I felt so much more prepared to handle problems than if I hadn't walked. My head really was more focused. It was a very interesting result of my scientific experiment and reinforcement of my goal of eating healthy and exercising for health first and weight loss if it happens.
Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend. Looking forward to all your posts. Bye for now.
Wow..I cant believe it's Sunday already and I havent posted since Thurs nite. The time flew by! Today is my 19th wedding anniversary. Instead of doing something alone, Phil and I took the kids to see "The Hulk" and then to eat Chinese. Yesterday was the family reunion then last nite Vicki and her b/friend, my sis and her husband and kids came over and played cards. Friday nite after work I went shopping so I've had a busy last several days. Not looking forward to Monday to come around so soon but ready to be back on a regular schedule. My eating has also been terrible with so much going on so starting tomorrow, back to business with that also!! I did get my exercise in until today...
Debee, even with the rain, that GI Joe party sounds like it turned out great. I love the whistle...smart idea. How was Jimmy's party?
Cyan, how was your first hike of the season? Will you be able to get out of bed to go to work tomorrow?? I doubt I could!
Newie, I hope your headache got better before time for the party. Sounds like you have a fun time planned for the girls. Glad you were able to get that walk in before work. I know it made you feel better.
How was everyone else's weekend? Looking forward to hearing from all of you soon!
Hey Miki..I did go hiking in 98 degree weather...a 5km hike down Mont Tremblant..the highest peak in the Laurentians...boy was it tough...but odly enough, it was the easiest hike thus far for me...my legs dont hurt...I do have a generalized soreness all over my body but it is very light and it doesnt really bother me. So, all I can say is that I am in better shape physically than I have been in a long time. I just want to weight to drop off. I guess slowly but surely is better than nothing at all.
Well as usual I am at work but tomorrow...its a holiday for us Quebecer's...it's St Jean Baptiste Day..or as the nationalists like to call it...La Fete Nationale....National Day!
Looking forward to hearing from all of you so come on back soon and post away
Hello girls! How is everyone. Did everyone have a great weekend??? Well, Friday evening, my hubby, kids and I went to my mother-in-law's and put a tent in the back yard. About 10pm we got in the tent....but it was sooooooo stinky. Jeff's dad gave it to us a year or so ago because someont puked in it. Well, we had washed it but obviously that smell doesn't go away! I couldn't find any air freshner, but I found some body spray and I sprayed and sprayed. It would help for about two minutes. I only lasted about 30 minutes and then I went inside. My kids and hubby stayed out there until about 6 am when they came inside and crawled into bed with me. Needless to say we threw the tent away.
Saturday, we were kind of lazy. We got some housework done and layed around. Sunday was church, dinner at in-laws and home.
Now....it's MONDAY. Back to homework, studying and school. It would be really nice to be called in for a job interview.
Well, that's enough babbling from me. I've lost 10 and 1/2 pounds!!
Lisa, you are doing so well with your new diet! Keep up the good work. I need to get back on track as well. Didnt do too bad foodwise today but yesterday and today I missed my workouts. Why cant I seem to get them both right at the same time??
Cyan, you are definitely in shape to do that hike and not have really sore legs. That generalized soreness is what I like to feel..not too much to prevent me from doing more but enough so that I feel I've accomplished something.
Where is everyone else?? I'm really getting worried about Ladyrider. This isnt like her at all.
Well today was a very long and busy day and I just got home. It's after 9:30 and I still have lots to do before bedtime. I'll try to post more tomorrow.
Hi, everybody! Sorry I didn't get to post yesterday, but it was a very long day. I first went to work, then took my daughter to orthodontist--1 hour from home--then went right to girls' dance lesson. I didn't get home till almost 8 p.m. I am also having to figure out how to balance this new working at home thing I am doing--at this point, the thing that is getting cut out as I readjust is my walk, which I don't like one bit!! I missed yesterday, but I'm getting out there this morning for sure.
My daughter's party was absolutely great. I got a great workout getting the yard ready for it, and then I just sat back while the party happened, except for playing waitress, security--when the water balloon game started to become the hose spraying game-- and craft consultant. My little one ended up being in on the action too because her sleepover was postponed due to sickness of hostess. Even she had a good time, and didn't cramp the style of the older ones.
It's great to read everyone's posts. Even though I don't have time to reply individually like I'd like to, they all encourage me immensely. It would be so easy to slack off during this period of adjustment I am going through. By the way, my 1 pound stayed off for two weeks. I wasn't sure it would. It often comes back.
Well, got to go hit the track! Talk to everyone later. Have a great day all!
I had a nice holiday yesterday but now I think its monday all over again ugh!
I went to a bbq at my friend's house...man was it hot and sunny...so now I have a sun rash! I am allergic to the sun and first exposure...I break out in a tiny red rash all over the exposed area! It hurts..it hurts.
I did alright food wise too...when it gets too hot, you just dont feel like eating as much. Its gonna be another scorcher today but thank goodness I am in an air conditioned environment....otherwise known as work!
hey Miki...I agree...where is LadyRider...does anyone have her email address ... maybe we should email her and see whats up.
Hey Newie..good to hear that your daughters had a great party.
Lisa...how hard is it to stick to this diet? Have you had any cravings? Let us know
Well, as usual, I am back at work..so I best get to it
I have a confession again...I havent exercised since Saturday! I just cant seem to get up in time to do it before work then by the time I finish everything I have to do afterwards, I am too tired to do it. One thing that didnt help is that my sis has been on vacation and hubby has been doing karate (he was a black belt at one time and is teaching the kids some) so I havent had a partner to do my tapes. I know, I know...why dont I do karate? Guess that's just excuses huh? Anyway, I only have to work 3 days next week so hopefully by then if not before, I'll get back into it. I was doing so well, I just hate that I've gotten out of the habit the last 3 days.
Debee, Happy Birthday!!!!! Hope you had a wonderful day today!!
Newie, glad to hear the party was a success. It's nice that both of your daughters were able to get along and have a good time.
Cyan, it's hot here too. I just finished grilling some steaks and it was sooo hot out there! You sound like me about it seeming like Monday...I'm always thrilled we're off for a holiday but it seems like you always have to make up for it so much at times, it doesnt quit seem to be worth the time off.
I'm going to have to go back and read some old posts...maybe on our old thread and see if I can find Ladyriders email. Too bad we dont know her real name so we could check on her. Same with Cjunk...here one day and not the next.
Lisa, Reina, Deana...how are you girls doing? Great I hope.
Gotta run for now folks...be back later tonite if time permits.
Hi, all! Trying to get a short post in before work today.
Miki--I know exactly how you are feeling about the exercise. I've only walked on Tuesday this week. I'm adjusting to this new working at home schedule that is part of my job now--more hours to work, plus they are at home (thank goodness I am getting paid more too). I do it in the morning because right now I just can't do it in the evening after spending all day with it at the office, but often by the time I get done, it's time to get ready for work, and I've been having trouble getting my walk in because I feel really rushed. And then at night when I get home, I can't motivate myself to take the walk, though it would be great for me, or there's someplace to go--music or dance lessons for the girls, volunteer work as a bingo operator at the school, doctor appointments--you name it. And if it's hot--which it has been the last two days--then I don't want to do it even more. This morning it's raining, and in the afternoon will be nice--cooler. I'm going to see if I can do it this afternoon even before I walk in the door after work--kids are at Grandma's today. I really feel the difference in my mind and body when I do it. I also know I have my WATP tapes, but that's a whole different habit to get into, and I'm having trouble just with the first one.
Cyan--I feel your pain with the sun. I don't get rash, but I burn easily, and I've had my share of burns--one dangerously severe about 20 years ago. My problem is that I hate the way sunscreen feels on my skin, so I don't wear it. Usually these days, I either stay out of the sun altogether, or if I am working in the yard, I only allow my forearms to be exposed, and I wear this huge brimmed straw hat that ties under the chin. I've looked in the mirror with it on, and I know I look silly (my husband won't be seen with me in it), but it beats the sunburn and all that goes with it.
Well, got to go. Great reading your stuff every day. Thanks, ladies!
