Just going through some pics and found one I love of my granddaughter....
    She is such a sweetie.

  • ((((Jules)))) So sorry about your dad...what happened? I didn't realize he was so sick...

Also hugs to you Sue, hope your mother is feeling better.

My weight has been creeping back up and I got good and tired of it, so I am South Beaching it for the next two weeks. Two weeks and no wine...whatever shall I do? i am hoping it gets my carb cravings under control before we make our annual trip to Brookings, otherwise I'll lose it and eat nothing but burgers the whole time I am there, lol!
  • Katy---Dad got really depressed and the doctors told me there was nothing physically wrong, it was all in his head. I feel bad cause I was giving him a rough time. He was saying things that were upsetting me and telling everyone he wanted to die. I told him to snap out of it. Then his white cell count went up..he had a really bad intestinal problem. They checked his lungs and the cancer wasn't back, I asked about the brain since he had been so irrational and mean and it was clear. Several family member came in on monday and we found out he had a clot going from lung to heart and they were going to try to get rid of it...then around one am I got the call with the results of the biopsy and bone scan they had done earlier that day...the cancer was in his bones and liver and are pretty sure the kidneys too. I was asked to do a verbal dnr on the phone cause it was so bad. I asked if I should come back in and he told me to get some rest and come in the morning, three hours later I got the call to come. I live a half hour away and I was less than 10 minutes from the hospital when I got a second call that he passed. It's been rough.
  • Oh Jules - I am so sorry, that is rough. Big hugs to you and your family....
  • Well, I broke down and had a glass of wine yesterday. I was out with an old friend and I am weak, lol! I am staying OP otherwise - yay!

    Have a great Thursday everyone!
  • Hello fellow BIKers. It has been pretty quiet in here this summer. I guess you all need me gabbing...but then I might be the only one in here. I have done that before...clear a room. LOL
We are enjoying the fact that Sat. will be the last day of mom's Home nurse coming. The 2 therapists have already discharged her. It has been helpful to know how she is doing between dr. visits, but I am such a private person that people coming and going 3 or 4 days a week has been hard. Just disruptive to always have to wait for their calls as to when they are coming, etc. But they sure did help her recovery with the therapy, so I will not complain. (ignore complaints..)
Back to her dr. tomorrow again, and I am looking for pretty good remarks. She has just done so well. For 82 she has recovered far quicker than most younger than her according to her nurses.

I haven't been up to much, trying to keep cool, like everyone. Keeping the house up and not going anywhere much except for groceries and to drs. When daughter and grandson were here from CA we went to eat a few times and to the casino one afternoon.
I have been reading A LOT and playing online. Of course, not exercising like I should. I did start with some weights and walking indoors again this week. Rode the bike a couple evenings after it cooled down...so back to the grind.

Jules..I am still praying for you to have strength to overcome your grief and heartache from both your parents passing. It will get better.... The joy from those 2 grandsons and now planning a wedding, you have so much to look forward to.

Katy- I have tried SB, didn't get past 11 days. Looks like you made it a couple without wine..lol. I have fallen so far OFF the wagon since mom has been sick that this whole summer might as well be a blur. (and basically is..)

Hope you all have a good week-end...and maybe we can all get after this weight thing again....looks like Cristina is the one who has kept up the exercise and Sassy has been steadily losing....way to go chickies.
  • Katy--I might start drinking wine myself if this stuff keeps up...but then maybe I will get back to my running instead.

Sue--glad your Mom is doing well! Those sweet grandboys do help.

Cristina--Have you done your walk yet? You sent the link but I don't have it anymore as to what you need to raise money wise...if its not over yet send it to me again.

Suzy, Sassy, Mindee, Francie & Kathy--How's things?

    Am I missing anyone???
  • Howdy all,

Sorry I've been mia. Nothing much to "report". I haven't been eating very wisely nor exercising. But at last WI I hadn't gained any. Hadn't lost any, but no gain.

Just been blah. No motivation what-so-ever. We are looking for a cheaper place to live. Rents just too much here and right now we need every extra penny we can get.

Also my MIL tore her Meniscus. We have no idea how she did that. But they gave her a cortisone shot and hoping that works. Otherwise she has to have surgery and she has already had several surgeries in her other leg. (for a different problem) So not good. Also my FIL needs knee surgery as well, as does my husband. I think its definitely Genetic. HA. I wonder if we'd get a discount for having 3 family members having the same surgery. ha. But I told DH I cannot take care of all 3 of them at the same time. Well maybe I could if they all are in bed. HA!

So that is life with us. We don't really want to move in with the in-laws, at least yet, but we know its inevitable. I know they don't want us too either, I mean everybody enjoys their privacy. But we'll see. As I told DH, maybe thats why I haven't gotten a job yet, maybe I'm not supposed too. But I figure if anything I can go over their house a few times a week and do what needs to be done, if need be. We're going over there probably in the morning after DH gets off work, so we'll scope it out.

Katy -- Isn't Red Wine good for the heart? Not sure if thats what you had or what. But enjoy!
Sue -- Glad your mom is doing well!
Jules -- BIG HUGS hon. It sounds a lot like my step dad when he passed. It was so quick. I know its really tough. Big

I hope all is well with everybody. Can't believe that July is almost over!!!

    Big
