Annie - I'm glad you had a nice cry with your mom. Sometimes it's so nice to just hold your mom. So sorry to hear that mom took a turn for the worse yesterday. I hope the docs are able to figure out the trouble soon and provide some relief to improve the situation. Sending lots of prayers, and : to both you and your mom.
ANNIE~ I AM SADDENED TO HAR ABOUT MOM AND BACK INTO THE HOSPITAL. WISH THEY COULD KEEP HER THERE TILL THE GET THE DIAGNOSIS RIGHT!!! SENDING HEALINGTHOUGHTS FOR HER ANDF HUGS FOR YOU I HOPE THE DINNER AND TIME WITH FAMILY WILL GET YOU ALL THRU THE HOLIDAYS. THE FAMILY THAT CRIES AND EATS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER!!! ANOTHER HUG FOR GOOD MEASURE :hnug:
MICHELLE~ GOOD YOU'RE STAYING AWAY FROM THE GYM...NOTHING WORSE OR TRANSFERABLE THAN PINK EYE!! I WAS HOPING THAT BY NOW THE WORST WOULD BE OVER. WAIT TILL THEY ARE DONE PASSING IT AROUND AT THE GYM!!! SENDING HUGS TO YOU AS WELL
I PUT A CALL INTO THE DR ABOUT THE "ATTACK OF THE COLD" AND HE SAID IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS AWAKENED LATE AT NIGHT WHEN MY BODY IS THE WARMEST FROM SLEEP. WENT DOWN WITHOUT PROPER CLOTHING ON. THE FRONT DOORS WERE BROKEN AND A BLIZZARD WAS COMING INSIDE THE LOBBY. HE SAID HE WAS SURPRISED OF TWO THINGS: ONE THAT IT TOOK ME 5 MINUTES TO GET INTO THAT CONDITION AND THE OTHER THAT I DIDN'T END UP IN THE HOSPITAL. BUT HE TOLD ME TO TAKE THIS AS A WARNING THAT I HAVE NO DEFENSES LEFT FOR HYPOTHERMIA NOW AND TO JUDGE WHERE I GO, HOW I GET THERE AND TAKE PRECAUTIONS...AND THAT GOES FOR THE SUMMER HEAT AS WELL. JESUS...OLD AGE IS NOT FOR SISSIES!!
I FEEL BETTER TODAY BUT A BIT "OFF". FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK I AM STAYING TO MYSELF AND STAY QUIET.
Mel
I've found that I cannot do a lot of things I used to do. I've always been a whimp when it comes to the cold weather. You can come keep me company if they throw you out. No friend of mine is going to be homeless.
Annie
Ahhh, Hugs for you and your mother. I live in a rural setting. Fields all around us. I would have loved to see them take off. I'm wondering if the last bird to sit down was the leader.
Michelle
Hope the pink eye is getting better. Do you like the Wii?
Ceejay - They sure get people going quickly after surgery - you'd think that a surgery involving 5 discs would be pretty serious and here they have your uncle moving around already! Hope the PT goes well for him. Those birds must have been a sight to see! I haven't seen any takeoffs or landings of geese in our area - just honking as they fly over.
Michelle - The decorations you saw sound wonderful. We finally took a drive to see some yesterday and it was nice, but not quite as many as usual in this area. I did notice some signs of the companies that put up the lights/displays. Never saw that before... Your company party sounded like it was a big event - nice. I went to the gym for cardio yesterday (did elliptical and stationery bike for a total of 30 min.). I forgot my iPod, but it was okay. I was focused on getting my heart rate up. Next time. I didn't bring the inhaler. I didn't have any problems - I don't think exercise causes any asthmas issues for me (and I've never had anything I'd consider serious or severe, although the wheezing is annoying), but you know, I probably should be safe rather than sorry and just carry it with me.
Annie - Sounds like you had a nice outing w/ dd. Sorry to hear your mom is back in the hospital. I hope they find out what the deal is with sitting upright causing the problems. Sounds like you're ready to get cookin' for Christmas Eve!!
Mel - Oh, how scary w/ that hypothermia incident. Guess you'll be bundling up like the little brother in "A Christmas Story" now - he could hardly move, LOL. Sorry you're having to go through that other garbage right now. Nervy of them. Sorry you couldn't open the link!
Our friend with the chest pains spent the night in the hospital, had some tests, but got the all clear and came home yesterday. We stopped by to visit them at home after seeing the decorations. He likely had some sort of anxiety attack. We'll see if he and bf get to the gym this week and get into a regimen. Me, I intended to go back to the gym again this week, but here I sit with a sore throat. I cancelled dinner/drinks w/ a friend that we'd planned for after work today. I bought some Cold-Eze (yuck) and some cough drops after work and will force myself to go to bed early tonight. Crossing my fingers I don't get a cold!
Will have to be a short note today as I am in the middle of trying to put together a paper which should give management an insight into how we want to deal with consumables in the system. It's supposed to be clear, concise and point the little b*s in the right direction - what I might like to do from time to time is push them over the cliff. Talk about wavering in the breeze.
Mel - It looks like life may have taken another turn for you. Good on you for recognising and trying to deal with the problem - hence Richie. Maybe we should write a cost effective paper on them employing Richie as a general handyman part time rather than trying to find someone outside to do the job. Glad to hear the sense of humour is still intact. Up the pollies!!! I say.
Laura - fingers and toes are crossed against the cold. Hope you can shame b/f into the gym with his friend. He's probably more likely to go if a friend shows up with him. Just make sure they don't by-pass the gym and make for the pub!!!
Ceejay - you aren't the only cold wimp around. Pick me. And I come from a cool climate although I haven't wintered over there for years. Snow is pretty to look at - period!
Annie - sounds like you have restored the mum/daughter relationship. Hope she finds something to help with the sitting up soon. That can't be fun for her. Dinner with the DD sounded nice.
Michelle - interesting to note that the Wii doesn't give you such an intense workout. I was led to understand that they really did. Disappointing.
Okay I am off to find some more bull**** - oops I mean information to put around this process. I've put the frighteners on the PM Manager today about the authorisation of invoices - and how I can rip the system off and destroy their budgets. Well - wouldn't you rather I told you about this than actually doing it. I need a new car too!!!
I had a major headache yesterday after work...so I did a little bit on the Wii Fit and then relaxed the rest of the evening. My niece from CA called...she'll be back out here on Jan 8-10 and was wondering if she could stay with us one night! DUH! Of course! We'd love to have her!
Mel - So sorry that the politicians gave you such grief. Glad you called your doc about the cold attack. It makes perfect sense. Your body is warmest from sleep, and your BP and Heart Rate are low (due to sleeping). Please heed his warnings. Relaxing the rest of the week is a great start. Stay warm and cozy.
Ceejay - The pink eye is getting better, but the ointment in the eye is still annoying...just today and tomorrow and then by Christmas Eve, I'll have clear eyes! I LOVE the Wii! I enjoy the Wii Fit, and I'm having fun with the other games as well. Sometimes DH joins me and we play the games as 2 players....but most of the time, I use it after work and do my workout and then am still playing the games when he gets home. I'm hoping for a relaxing long weekend (with very little snow - a girl can dream, right?), where DH and I just spend time with our doggies, watch TV and play Wii. Sending healing thoughts to your uncle and to you.
Laura - Companies that put up lights for businesses and residences are getting more popular here. Good for you for going to the gym. That's great that you didn't have any asthma problems. I do have exercise induced asthma...but I'm so scatterbrained, that I don't always have my inhaler with me when I work out. Glad to hear that your friend was released from the hospital. I'm trying to get DH to work out either at the gym or on the Wii Fit. I hope you get over your sore throat soon and that it doesn't turn into anything more. Cold-Eze do help me...I also load up on the Vitamin C and D. Healing hugs to you my friend.
Shad - I should clarify about the Wii Fit....It does have Advanced Step and Advanced running settings...but I'm not coordinated enough to get beyond the beginning ones yet! I will get better over time, and be able to progress. I've also heard that the Obstacle Course and the Rhythm Kung Fu (neither of which I've tried yet) are lots of fun. Hopefully, with a 4 day weekend, I'll be able to progress to the more advanced workouts! I can also put the Wii Fit step on top of an exercise step to increase the height...making the workouts more intense. Again, it's my lack of coordination holding me back...not the Wii Fit itself.
Well, gotta get some work done today. I'll check back in later.

Shad - Hope you've convinced the PM people of the need for controls in their system!!
Michelle - Hope the headaches stay away now! Glad you're enjoying the Wii and getting a workout! I'm sure you'll become an expert at it and be at the advanced levels in no time. Bf hasn't gotten to the gym yet this week, but he did get out to do some more snowblowing today. You had the same suggestions as another friend did re the sore throat/fighting off the cold! I take a mult-vit and calcium w/ vit D, but no extra vit. c. My friend keeps trying to sell me on those packs of emergen-c. I'm not one for taking a lot of supplements (especially ones that taste like Tang!), so I've resisted.
Mel - Very nice gifts from your boss! My boss's gift to us is that she leaves tomorrow for a 2.5 week vacation out of the country, LOL. Gosh, do you really want to meet w/ someone who wants to persuade you to stay on those committees?! Be strong, my dear!!
Annie - Oh, I'm so jealous. I bet that massage was heavenly!
Hi Ceejay!
I took the zinc stuff last night and today. My sore throat is not as bad right, but not completely gone. No cold though! I will get to bed early again tonight. Tomorrow the boss and the admin are out. I will take a vacation day on Christmas Eve (Thurs). Looking forward to the quiet at the office next week!
I have to confess that food has been bad this week so far. Not sure if it's because it's PMS week - more likely because I've been out of the groove with all these long weekends. Grrr. I will be really ticked at myself if I regain what I've lost! Need to get back to being mindful of what I'm eating. At least the cookies are gone, as I took the last of them to work yesterday.
My headache is mostly gone...I just hope it stays away. I'm counting down the hours to the long holiday weekend! I can't wait!! And today is the last day of my eye goop - Yay!! I had to meet with a website client last night. She was having a computer crisis that I couldn't troubleshoot over the phone. It only took about an hour or so, but it meant I couldn't do as much Wii Fit as I wanted. Today's workout will be doing some snow shoveling. We got about 2" last night, and tonight and tomorrow are supposed to be a "wintry mix"...which means freezing rain, ice, sleet, etc. So we want to get the snow up before it freezes. It's supposed to rain tomorrow night, and then snow 1"-3" on Christmas Day...which should make for a very Christmasey Christmas!
Mel - So very nice that your boss gave you clothes, a gift card and cards for Jen and Richie. And you got so many other lovely presents and tips! It's good that you are being shown how much you are loved and appreciated. You're a very special lady and deserve every bit of it! I hope Richie is able to get the child support drama worked out...and you're right...no sense letting it spoil your holiday. Enjoy your visit with Frank...and DON'T LET HIM TALK YOU INTO DOING TOO MUCH!!
Laura - I talked with my doctor and he said that Vitamin D in high doses has been found to be very beneficial in boosting the immunity of those of us who live in colder climates...where we don't get out and see much sun during the winter months. I take about 2000 IU of Vitamin D daily. Good for you for getting lots of rest and taking your zinc. Good for you for taking the last of the cookies to work. I've fallen out of the eating groove too.
Ceejay - Speaking for myself, you are definitely right...I have been eating too much. Zinc helps your body fight off viruses. Vitamin C and Vitamin D boost the immunity. How is the show Diet Tribe? I've seen commercials for it, but haven't watched it yet.
Annie - I hope you have a lovely, relaxing, blissful, pampering massage! Enjoy your time with DS and DD.
Shad - It should be pretty close to Christmas Eve there. Did you have Dinner with your friend last night as planned? Are there a lot of Christmasey decorations there in the malls, city streets, people's yards?
